25 大卫和众首领派亚萨、希幔和耶杜顿的后代伴着琴、瑟和钹宣讲上帝的话。以下是担当这职务的人：

25 Þeir Davíð og hershöfðingjarnir tóku og frá til þjónustu niðja Asafs, Hemans og Jedútúns, er að spámannahætti lofuðu Guð með gígjum, hörpum og skálabumbum. Og tala þeirra, er starf höfðu við þessa þjónustu, var:
2 Af Asafsniðjum: Sakkúr, Jósef, Netanja og Asarela, synir Asafs, undir stjórn Asafs, er lék eins og spámaður eftir fyrirsögn konungs.
3 Af Jedútún: Synir Jedútúns: Gedalja, Serí, Jesaja, Hasabja, Mattitja, Símeí, sex alls, undir stjórn Jedútúns föður síns, er lék á gígju eins og spámaður, þá er lofa skyldi Drottin og vegsama hann.
4 Af Heman: Synir Hemans: Búkkía, Mattanja, Ússíel, Sebúel, Jerímót, Hananja, Hananí, Elíata, Giddaltí, Rómamtí Eser, Josbekasa, Mallótí, Hótír, Mahasíót.
5 Allir þessir voru synir Hemans, sjáanda konungs, er horn skyldu hefja að boði Guðs. Og Guð gaf Heman fjórtán sonu og þrjár dætur.
6 Allir þessir voru við sönginn í musteri Drottins undir stjórn föður þeirra með skálabumbur, hörpur og gígjur til þess að gegna þjónustu í musteri Guðs undir forustu konungs, Asafs, Jedútúns og Hemans.
7 Og talan á þeim og frændum þeirra, er lærðir voru í ljóðum Drottins, og allir voru vel að sér, var tvö hundruð áttatíu og átta.
8 Og þeir vörpuðu hlutkesti um starfið, yngri sem eldri, kennarar sem lærisveinar.

25 The singers are appointed with their places and lots.
1 So David and the captains of the army [a]separated for the ministry the sons of Asaph, and Heman, and Jeduthun, who should sing prophesies with harps, with viols, and with cymbals, and their number was even of the men for the office of their ministry, to wit,
2 Of the sons of Asaph, Zaccur, and Joseph, and Nethaniah, and Asharelah the sons of Asaph were under the hand of Asaph, which sang prophecies by the [b]commission of the King.
3 Of Jeduthun, the sons of Jeduthun, Gedaliah, and Zeri, and Jeshaiah, Hashabiah and Mattithiah, [c]six, under the hands of their father: Jeduthun sang [d]prophecies with an harp, for to give thanks and to praise the Lord.
4 Of Heman, the sons of Heman, Bukkiah, Mattaniah, Uzziel, Shebuel, and Jerimoth, Hananiah, Hanani, Eliathah, Giddalti, and Romamti-Ezer, Joshbekashah, Mallothi, Hothir, and Mahazioth.
5 All these were the sons of Heman, the King’s [e]Seer in the words of God to lift up the [f]horn: and God gave to Heman fourteen sons and three daughters.
6 All these were under the [g]hand of their father singing in the house of the Lord with cymbals, viols and harps, for the service of the house of God, and Asaph, and Jeduthun, and Heman were at the King’s [h]commandment.
7 So was their number with their brethren that were instructed in the songs of the Lord, even of all that were cunning, two hundred fourscore and eight.
8 And they cast lots, [i]charge against charge, as well [j]small as great, the cunning man as the scholar.
9 And the first lot fell to [k]Joseph, which was of Asaph, the second, to Gedaliah, who with his brethren and his sons were twelve.
10 The third, to Zaccur, he, his sons and his brethren were twelve.
11 The fourth, to [l]Jizri, he, his sons and his brethren twelve.
12 The fifth, to Nethaniah, he, his sons and his brethren twelve.
13 The sixth, to Bukkiah, he, his sons and his brethren twelve.
14 The seventh, to Jesharelah, he, his sons and his brethren twelve.
15 The eighth to Jeshaiah, he, his sons and his brethren twelve.
16 The ninth to Mattaniah, he, his sons and his brethren twelve.
17 The tenth to Shimei, he, his sons and his brethren twelve.
18 The eleventh to Azarel, he, his sons and his brethren twelve.
19 The twelfth to Hashabiah, he, his sons and his brethren twelve.
20 The thirteenth to Shubael, he, his sons and his brethren twelve.
21 The fourteenth to Mattithiah, he, his sons and his brethren twelve.
22 The fifteenth to Jeremoth, he, his sons and his brethren twelve.

The Musicians
25 David, together with the commanders of the army, set apart some of the sons of Asaph,(A) Heman(B) and Jeduthun(C) for the ministry of prophesying,(D) accompanied by harps, lyres and cymbals.(E) Here is the list of the men(F) who performed this service:(G)
2 From the sons of Asaph:
Zakkur, Joseph, Nethaniah and Asarelah. The sons of Asaph were under the supervision of Asaph, who prophesied under the king’s supervision.
3 As for Jeduthun, from his sons:(H)
Gedaliah, Zeri, Jeshaiah, Shimei,[a] Hashabiah and Mattithiah, six in all, under the supervision of their father Jeduthun, who prophesied, using the harp(I) in thanking and praising the Lord.
4 As for Heman, from his sons:
Bukkiah, Mattaniah, Uzziel, Shubael and Jerimoth; Hananiah, Hanani, Eliathah, Giddalti and Romamti-Ezer; Joshbekashah, Mallothi, Hothir and Mahazioth. 5 (All these were sons of Heman the king’s seer. They were given him through the promises of God to exalt him. God gave Heman fourteen sons and three daughters.)
6 All these men were under the supervision of their father(J) for the music of the temple of the Lord, with cymbals, lyres and harps, for the ministry at the house of God.
Asaph, Jeduthun and Heman(K) were under the supervision of the king.(L) 7 Along with their relatives—all of them trained and skilled in music for the Lord—they numbered 288. 8 Young and old alike, teacher as well as student, cast lots(M) for their duties.
