19 后来，亚扪人的王拿辖死了，他的儿子接续他作王。 2 大卫说：“我要恩待拿辖的儿子哈嫩，因为他的父亲曾恩待我。”于是大卫差派使者去为了他丧父的事安慰他。大卫的臣仆到了亚扪人境内，去见哈嫩要安慰他。 3 但亚扪人的众领袖对哈嫩说：“大卫差派这些慰问的人到你这里来，你以为他是尊敬你父亲吗？他的臣仆来见你，不是为了窥探、倾覆、侦察这地吗？”

David Defeats the Ammonites(A)
19 In the course of time, Nahash king of the Ammonites(B) died, and his son succeeded him as king. 2 David thought, “I will show kindness to Hanun son of Nahash, because his father showed kindness to me.” So David sent a delegation to express his sympathy to Hanun concerning his father.
When David’s envoys came to Hanun in the land of the Ammonites to express sympathy to him, 3 the Ammonite commanders said to Hanun, “Do you think David is honoring your father by sending envoys to you to express sympathy? Haven’t his envoys come to you only to explore and spy out(C) the country and overthrow it?”
