14 推罗王希兰派使者来见大卫，给他送上香柏木、石匠和木匠，要为他建造宫殿。 2 那时，大卫知道耶和华已经坚立他作王统治以色列，又为了以色列民的缘故，使他的国高举。
大卫在耶路撒冷所生的儿子(B)
3 大卫在耶路撒冷又娶了多位妻子，并且生了很多儿女。 4 以下这些就是他在耶路撒冷所生的孩子的名字：沙母亚、朔罢、拿单、所罗门、 5 益辖、以利书亚、以法列、 6 挪迦、尼斐、雅非亚、 7 以利沙玛、以利雅大和以利法列。

8 非利士人听见了大卫受膏作王统治以色列人，就全体上来搜寻大卫；大卫听见了，就出来迎击他们。 9 非利士人来到，侵进了利乏音谷。 10 大卫求问 神说：“我可以上去攻打非利士人吗？你把他们交在我手里吗？”耶和华对他说：“你可以上去，我必把他们交在你的手里。” 11 非利士人上到巴力．毘拉心来，大卫在那里击败了他们。大卫说：“ 神借着我击溃我的敌人，好象水冲破堤岸一般。”因此他们给那地方起名叫巴力．毘拉心。 12 非利士人把他们的神像遗弃在那里，大卫吩咐人用火把它们烧了。
13 非利士人又再入侵那山谷。 14 大卫又求问 神， 神对他说：“不可在后面追赶他们，要绕过他们，从桑林对面攻打他们。 15 你一听见桑林树梢上有脚步的声音，就要出战，因为 神已经在你前面出去击杀非利士人的军队了。” 16 于是大卫照着 神所吩咐他的去作，他们攻击非利士人的军队，从基遍起，一直攻打到基色。 17 因此大卫的名声传遍各地，耶和华使万国都惧怕他。

David’s Palace, Wives, and Children in Jerusalem(A)
14 King Hiram of Tyre sent messengers to David, along with cedarwood, masons, and carpenters to build a palace for David. 2 So David realized that the Lord had established him as king of Israel and that his kingdom was made famous for the sake of Israel, the Lord’s people.
3 David married more wives in Jerusalem and fathered more sons and daughters. 4 These are the names of the children who were born to him in Jerusalem: Shammua, Shobab, Nathan, Solomon, 5 Ibhar, Elishua, Elpelet, 6 Nogah, Nepheg, Japhia, 7 Elishama, Beeliada, and Eliphelet.
David Defeats the Philistines(B)
8 When the Philistines heard that David had been anointed king of Israel, all of them came to attack David. But David heard about it and went out to meet them. 9 The Philistines had come and raided the valley of Rephaim.
10 David asked God, “Should I attack the Philistines? Will you hand them over to me?”
The Lord answered him, “Attack! I will hand them over to you.”
11 So David ⌞and his men⌟ attacked and defeated the Philistines at Baal Perazim. David said, “Using my power like an overwhelming flood, God has overwhelmed my enemies.” That is why they call that place Baal Perazim [The Lord Overwhelms]. 12 The Philistines left their gods there, so David ordered that the gods be burned.
13 The Philistines again raided the valley. 14 Once more David asked God.
God answered him, “Don’t go after them. Circle around, and come at them in front of the balsam trees. 15 As you hear the sound of marching in the tops of the balsam trees, then go out and fight because God has gone ahead of you to defeat the Philistine army.”
16 David did as God ordered him, and his men defeated the Philistine army from Gibeon to Gezer. 17 David’s fame spread through all lands, and the Lord made all the nations fear him.
