大卫的宫殿和家人
14 泰尔王希兰差遣使者带着香柏木、木匠和石匠去为大卫建造宫殿。 2 那时，大卫知道耶和华已立他做以色列的王，并因自己以色列子民的缘故而使他国家兴旺。
3 大卫在耶路撒冷又娶了多位妻子，生了许多儿女。 4 他在耶路撒冷所生的孩子有沙姆亚、朔罢、拿单、所罗门、 5 益辖、以利书亚、以法列、 6 挪迦、尼斐、雅非亚、 7 以利沙玛、比利雅大和以利法列。
打败非利士人
8 非利士人听说大卫已被膏立为以色列王，就全军出动搜寻大卫。大卫得知后，便出来迎敌。 9 非利士人前来袭击利乏音谷。 10 大卫就求问上帝说：“我可以去迎战非利士人吗？你会把他们交在我手里吗？”耶和华说：“去吧，我必把他们交在你手里。”
11 于是，大卫前往巴力·毗拉心，击败了非利士人。他说：“上帝借我的手击溃敌人，如洪水冲垮堤岸。”所以，那地方叫巴力·毗拉心[a]。 12 非利士人在那里丢弃了他们的神像，大卫命人把它们烧掉。 13 非利士人又来袭击那山谷， 14 大卫又求问上帝，上帝对他说：“你不要正面出击，要绕到他们后面，从桑林对面攻打他们。 15 当你听见桑树梢上响起脚步声时，就要进攻，因为那表示耶和华已在你前头去攻击非利士的军队了。” 16 大卫遵命而行，打败非利士人，从基遍一直杀到基色。 17 于是，大卫名扬列国，耶和华使列国都惧怕他。

14 推罗王希兰派使者把香柏木运到大卫那里，又派石匠和木匠给大卫建造宫殿。 2 大卫知道耶和华坚立他作以色列王，又为自己百姓以色列的缘故，使他的国兴盛。
3 大卫在耶路撒冷又立后妃，又生儿女。 4 在耶路撒冷所生的孩子名字是沙母亚[a]、朔罢、拿单、所罗门、 5 益辖、以利书亚[b]、以法列[c]、 6 挪迦、尼斐、雅非亚、 7 以利沙玛、比利雅大[d]、以利法列。
战胜非利士人(B)
8 非利士人听见大卫受膏作全以色列的王，非利士众人就上来寻索大卫。大卫听见了，就出去迎敌。 9 非利士人来了，侵犯利乏音谷。 10 大卫求问 神说：“我可以上去攻打非利士人吗？你将他们交在我手里吗？”耶和华对他说：“你可以上去，我必将他们交在你手里。” 11 非利士人上到巴力‧毗拉心，大卫在那里击败他们。大卫说：“ 神藉我的手冲破敌人，如水冲破一样。”因此那地方称为巴力‧毗拉心。 12 非利士人把神像抛弃在那里，大卫吩咐人用火焚烧了。
13 非利士人又侵犯利乏音谷。 14 大卫再求问 神。 神对他说：“不要从他们后头追上去，要绕道离开他们，从桑树林对面攻打他们。 15 你听见桑树梢上有脚步的声音，那时你就要出战，因为 神已经出去，在你前头攻打非利士人的军队了。” 16 大卫就遵照 神所吩咐的去做，攻打非利士人的军队，从基遍直到基色。 17 于是大卫的名传扬到万邦，耶和华使万国都惧怕他。

King James Version
14 Now Hiram king of Tyre sent messengers to David, and timber of cedars, with masons and carpenters, to build him an house.
2 And David perceived that the Lord had confirmed him king over Israel, for his kingdom was lifted up on high, because of his people Israel.
3 And David took more wives at Jerusalem: and David begat more sons and daughters.
4 Now these are the names of his children which he had in Jerusalem; Shammua, and Shobab, Nathan, and Solomon,
5 And Ibhar, and Elishua, and Elpalet,
6 And Nogah, and Nepheg, and Japhia,
7 And Elishama, and Beeliada, and Eliphalet.
8 And when the Philistines heard that David was anointed king over all Israel, all the Philistines went up to seek David. And David heard of it, and went out against them.
9 And the Philistines came and spread themselves in the valley of Rephaim.
10 And David enquired of God, saying, Shall I go up against the Philistines? And wilt thou deliver them into mine hand? And the Lord said unto him, Go up; for I will deliver them into thine hand.
11 So they came up to Baalperazim; and David smote them there. Then David said, God hath broken in upon mine enemies by mine hand like the breaking forth of waters: therefore they called the name of that place Baalperazim.
12 And when they had left their gods there, David gave a commandment, and they were burned with fire.
13 And the Philistines yet again spread themselves abroad in the valley.
14 Therefore David enquired again of God; and God said unto him, Go not up after them; turn away from them, and come upon them over against the mulberry trees.
15 And it shall be, when thou shalt hear a sound of going in the tops of the mulberry trees, that then thou shalt go out to battle: for God is gone forth before thee to smite the host of the Philistines.
16 David therefore did as God commanded him: and they smote the host of the Philistines from Gibeon even to Gazer.
17 And the fame of David went out into all lands; and the Lord brought the fear of him upon all nations.

David i Jerusalem
(2 Sam 5:11-16; 1 Krön 3:5-8)
14 Kung Hiram i Tyros skickade budbärare till David med stockar av cederträ och murare och snickare för att bygga Davids palats. 2 Nu förstod David att Herren hade befäst hans kungadöme och upphöjt det för hans folk Israels skull.
3 David tog sig fler hustrur i Jerusalem och blev far till fler söner och döttrar. 4 De söner som föddes i Jerusalem hette Shammua[a], Shovav, Natan, Salomo, 5 Jivchar, Elishua, Elpelet, 6 Nogah, Nefeg, Jafia, 7 Elishama, Beeljada och Elifelet.
David besegrar filistéerna
(2 Sam 5:17-25)
8 Filistéerna fick höra att David var smord till kung över hela Israel, och de gav sig ut efter honom. Men David fick höra om det och drog ut mot dem. 9 Filistéerna for fram och plundrade i Refaimdalen. 10 Då frågade David Gud: ”Ska jag dra ut mot filistéerna? Kommer du att överlämna dem åt mig?” Herren svarade: ”Ja, gå! Jag ska överlämna dem åt dig!”
11 Då gick David till anfall vid Baal-Perasim och slog filistéerna där. David sa: ”Gud har brutit ner mina fiender genom min hand, liksom vatten som bryter fram.” Det är därför platsen kallas Baal-Perasim[b].
12 Filistéerna hade övergett sina gudar på platsen, och David gav order om att de skulle brännas upp.
13 Men filistéerna återkom och plundrade dalen igen, 14 och David frågade Gud även denna gång.
”Du ska inte gå efter dem, utan ta en omväg runt bakaträden”, svarade Gud, ”och anfall dem sedan från det hållet. 15 Gå till attack när du hör ljudet som av en här på marsch i trädtopparna. Då har Gud gått före dig för att slå filistéernas armé.” 16 David gjorde som Gud hade befallt honom, och han slog filistéernas armé och förföljde den från Givon ända till Geser.
17 Davids ryktbarhet spred sig till alla länder, och Herren lät alla folk bäva för honom.
