David propone trasladar el arca a Jerusalén
13 Entonces David tomó consejo con los capitanes de millares y de centenas, y con todos los jefes. 2 Y dijo David a toda la asamblea de Israel: Si os parece bien y si es la voluntad de Jehová nuestro Dios, enviaremos a todas partes por nuestros hermanos que han quedado en todas las tierras de Israel, y por los sacerdotes y levitas que están con ellos en sus ciudades y ejidos, para que se reúnan con nosotros; 3 y traigamos el arca de nuestro Dios a nosotros, porque desde el tiempo de Saúl no hemos hecho caso de ella. 4 Y dijo toda la asamblea que se hiciese así, porque la cosa parecía bien a todo el pueblo.
David intenta traer el arca

5 Entonces David reunió a todo Israel, desde Sihor de Egipto hasta la entrada de Hamat, para que trajesen el arca de Dios de Quiriat-jearim.(A) 6 Y subió David con todo Israel a Baala de Quiriat-jearim, que está en Judá, para pasar de allí el arca de Jehová Dios, que mora entre los querubines,(B) sobre la cual su nombre es invocado. 7 Y llevaron el arca de Dios de la casa de Abinadab en un carro nuevo; y Uza y Ahío guiaban el carro. 8 Y David y todo Israel se regocijaban delante de Dios con todas sus fuerzas, con cánticos, arpas, salterios, tamboriles, címbalos y trompetas.
9 Pero cuando llegaron a la era de Quidón, Uza extendió su mano al arca para sostenerla, porque los bueyes tropezaban. 10 Y el furor de Jehová se encendió contra Uza, y lo hirió, porque había extendido su mano al arca; y murió allí delante de Dios. 11 Y David tuvo pesar, porque Jehová había quebrantado a Uza; por lo que llamó aquel lugar Pérez-uza,[a] hasta hoy. 12 Y David temió a Dios aquel día, y dijo: ¿Cómo he de traer a mi casa el arca de Dios? 13 Y no trajo David el arca a su casa en la ciudad de David, sino que la llevó a casa de Obed-edom geteo. 14 Y el arca de Dios estuvo con la familia de Obed-edom, en su casa, tres meses; y bendijo Jehová la casa de Obed-edom,(C) y todo lo que tenía.

Traslado del arca a la casa de Obed Edom(A)
13 Después de consultar a los comandantes de mil y de cien soldados, así como a todos los oficiales, David 2 dijo a la asamblea de Israel: «Si les parece bien y si es lo que el Señor nuestro Dios desea, enviemos mensajeros a todas partes para llamar a nuestros hermanos que se han quedado en el territorio de Israel. También llamemos a los sacerdotes y levitas que están en los pueblos y aldeas, a que se unan a nosotros 3 para traer de regreso el arca de nuestro Dios. La verdad es que desde el tiempo de Saúl no la buscamos».
4 A la asamblea le agradó la propuesta y acordó que se hiciera así.
5 Entonces David reunió a todo el pueblo de Israel, desde Sijor en Egipto hasta Lebó Jamat,[a] para trasladar el arca que estaba en Quiriat Yearín. 6 Luego David y todo Israel fueron a Balá, que es Quiriat Yearín de Judá, para trasladar de allí el arca de Dios el Señor, que reina entre los querubines —el arca sobre la cual se invoca su Nombre.
7 Colocaron el arca de Dios en una carreta nueva y la sacaron de la casa de Abinadab. Uza y Ajío guiaban la carreta. 8 David y todo Israel danzaban ante Dios con gran entusiasmo y cantaban al son de arpas, liras, panderos, címbalos y trompetas.
9 Al llegar al campo de Quidón, los bueyes tropezaron, pero Uza extendió su mano y sostuvo el arca. 10 Entonces la ira del Señor se encendió contra Uza por haber tocado el arca y lo hirió de muerte, de modo que Uza murió delante de Dios.
11 David se enojó porque el Señor había matado a Uza, así que llamó a aquel lugar Peres Uza,[b] nombre que conserva hasta el día de hoy.
12 Aquel día David se sintió temeroso de Dios y exclamó: «¿Cómo me llevaré el arca de Dios?». 13 Por eso no se la llevó a la Ciudad de David, sino que ordenó que la trasladaran a la casa de Obed Edom, oriundo de Gat. 14 Fue así como el arca de Dios permaneció tres meses en la casa de Obed Edom, y el Señor bendijo a la familia de Obed Edom y todo lo que tenía.

13 And David consulted with the captains of thousands and hundreds, and with every leader.
2 And David said unto all the congregation of Israel, If it seem good unto you, and that it be of the Lord our God, let us send abroad unto our brethren every where, that are left in all the land of Israel, and with them also to the priests and Levites which are in their cities and suburbs, that they may gather themselves unto us:
3 And let us bring again the ark of our God to us: for we enquired not at it in the days of Saul.
4 And all the congregation said that they would do so: for the thing was right in the eyes of all the people.
5 So David gathered all Israel together, from Shihor of Egypt even unto the entering of Hemath, to bring the ark of God from Kirjathjearim.
6 And David went up, and all Israel, to Baalah, that is, to Kirjathjearim, which belonged to Judah, to bring up thence the ark of God the Lord, that dwelleth between the cherubims, whose name is called on it.
7 And they carried the ark of God in a new cart out of the house of Abinadab: and Uzza and Ahio drave the cart.
8 And David and all Israel played before God with all their might, and with singing, and with harps, and with psalteries, and with timbrels, and with cymbals, and with trumpets.
9 And when they came unto the threshingfloor of Chidon, Uzza put forth his hand to hold the ark; for the oxen stumbled.
10 And the anger of the Lord was kindled against Uzza, and he smote him, because he put his hand to the ark: and there he died before God.
11 And David was displeased, because the Lord had made a breach upon Uzza: wherefore that place is called Perezuzza to this day.
12 And David was afraid of God that day, saying, How shall I bring the ark of God home to me?
13 So David brought not the ark home to himself to the city of David, but carried it aside into the house of Obededom the Gittite.
14 And the ark of God remained with the family of Obededom in his house three months. And the Lord blessed the house of Obededom, and all that he had.

Bringing Back the Ark(A)
13 David conferred with each of his officers, the commanders of thousands and commanders of hundreds. 2 He then said to the whole assembly of Israel, “If it seems good to you and if it is the will of the Lord our God, let us send word far and wide to the rest of our people throughout the territories of Israel, and also to the priests and Levites who are with them in their towns and pasturelands, to come and join us. 3 Let us bring the ark of our God back to us,(B) for we did not inquire(C) of[a] it[b] during the reign of Saul.” 4 The whole assembly agreed to do this, because it seemed right to all the people.
5 So David assembled all Israel,(D) from the Shihor River(E) in Egypt to Lebo Hamath,(F) to bring the ark of God from Kiriath Jearim.(G) 6 David and all Israel went to Baalah(H) of Judah (Kiriath Jearim) to bring up from there the ark of God the Lord, who is enthroned between the cherubim(I)—the ark that is called by the Name.
7 They moved the ark of God from Abinadab’s(J) house on a new cart, with Uzzah and Ahio guiding it. 8 David and all the Israelites were celebrating with all their might before God, with songs and with harps, lyres, timbrels, cymbals and trumpets.(K)
9 When they came to the threshing floor of Kidon, Uzzah reached out his hand to steady the ark, because the oxen stumbled. 10 The Lord’s anger(L) burned against Uzzah, and he struck him down(M) because he had put his hand on the ark. So he died there before God.
11 Then David was angry because the Lord’s wrath had broken out against Uzzah, and to this day that place is called Perez Uzzah.[c](N)
12 David was afraid of God that day and asked, “How can I ever bring the ark of God to me?” 13 He did not take the ark to be with him in the City of David. Instead, he took it to the house of Obed-Edom(O) the Gittite. 14 The ark of God remained with the family of Obed-Edom in his house for three months, and the Lord blessed his household(P) and everything he had.
