扫罗自杀及其众子阵亡(A)
10 非利士人攻打以色列人；以色列人从非利士人面前逃跑，在基利波山上阵亡的人很多。 2 非利士人紧紧地追赶扫罗和他的儿子；非利士人杀了扫罗的儿子约拿单、亚比拿达和麦基舒亚。 3 攻击扫罗的战役非常激烈；弓箭手发现了他，就把他射伤。 4 扫罗对替他拿兵器的人说：“拔出你的刀来，把我刺透，免得这些未受割礼的人来凌辱我。”但替他拿兵器的人不肯这样作，因为他非常害怕；于是扫罗拿出刀来，自己伏在刀上死了。 5 替他拿兵器的人看见扫罗死了，他也伏在刀上死了。 6 这样，扫罗和他的三个儿子，以及他的全家，都一同死了。
7 所有在山谷的以色列人，看见以色列军逃跑，扫罗和他的儿子都死了，他们就弃城逃跑，非利士人就来住在城中。 8 第二天，非利士人来剥那些被杀的人的衣物的时候，发现扫罗和他的儿子都倒毙在基利波山上。 9 他们就剥了他的衣服，拿了他的头和兵器，又派人到非利士地的各处，去向他们的偶像和人民报信。 10 他们把扫罗的兵器放在他们的神庙里，把他的头挂在大衮庙中。 11 基列．雅比人听见非利士人向扫罗所行的事， 12 所有的勇士就动身，把扫罗的尸体和他儿子的尸体收殓起来，带回雅比，把他们的骸骨埋葬在雅比的橡树下，并且禁食七天。
13 扫罗死了，因为他悖逆耶和华，没有听从他的话，也因为他去求问那交鬼的， 14 没有求问耶和华，所以耶和华把他杀死了，把国位转给耶西的儿子大卫。

Muerte de Saúl y de sus hijos
(1 S. 31.1-13)
10 Los filisteos pelearon contra Israel; y huyeron delante de ellos los israelitas, y cayeron heridos en el monte de Gilboa. 2 Y los filisteos siguieron a Saúl y a sus hijos, y mataron los filisteos a Jonatán, a Abinadab y a Malquisúa, hijos de Saúl. 3 Y arreciando la batalla contra Saúl, le alcanzaron los flecheros, y fue herido por los flecheros. 4 Entonces dijo Saúl a su escudero: Saca tu espada y traspásame con ella, no sea que vengan estos incircuncisos y hagan escarnio de mí; pero su escudero no quiso, porque tenía mucho miedo. Entonces Saúl tomó la espada, y se echó sobre ella. 5 Cuando su escudero vio a Saúl muerto, él también se echó sobre su espada y se mató. 6 Así murieron Saúl y sus tres hijos; y toda su casa murió juntamente con él. 7 Y viendo todos los de Israel que habitaban en el valle, que habían huido, y que Saúl y sus hijos eran muertos, dejaron sus ciudades y huyeron, y vinieron los filisteos y habitaron en ellas.
8 Sucedió al día siguiente, que al venir los filisteos a despojar a los muertos, hallaron a Saúl y a sus hijos tendidos en el monte de Gilboa. 9 Y luego que le despojaron, tomaron su cabeza y sus armas, y enviaron mensajeros por toda la tierra de los filisteos para dar las nuevas a sus ídolos y al pueblo. 10 Y pusieron sus armas en el templo de sus dioses, y colgaron la cabeza en el templo de Dagón. 11 Y oyendo todos los de Jabes de Galaad lo que los filisteos habían hecho de Saúl, 12 se levantaron todos los hombres valientes, y tomaron el cuerpo de Saúl y los cuerpos de sus hijos, y los trajeron a Jabes; y enterraron sus huesos debajo de una encina en Jabes, y ayunaron siete días.
13 Así murió Saúl por su rebelión con que prevaricó contra Jehová, contra la palabra de Jehová, la cual no guardó,(A) y porque consultó a una adivina,(B) 14 y no consultó a Jehová; por esta causa lo mató, y traspasó el reino a David hijo de Isaí.

The Death of Saul
10 The Philistines fought against Israel, and the men of Israel fled from the Philistines and fell mortally wounded at Mount Gilboa. 2 The Philistines were closing in on Saul and his sons. They struck down Jonathan, Abinadab, and Malkishua, the sons of Saul. 3 The attack directed at Saul was fierce. The archers targeted him and hit him, and he was in great pain from his wounds.
4 Then Saul said to his armor bearer, “Draw your sword and run me through so that these uncircumcised fellows do not come and abuse me.”
His armor bearer would not do it because he was too afraid. So Saul took his own sword and fell on it. 5 When the armor bearer saw that Saul was dead, he too fell on his sword and died. 6 So Saul died, and his three sons, his entire house, died together.
7 When all the men of Israel who were in the valley saw that their army had fled and that Saul and his sons were dead, they abandoned their cities and fled. Then the Philistines came and lived in them.
8 On the next day when the Philistines came to strip those who had been killed in the battle, they found Saul and his sons fallen on Mount Gilboa. 9 They stripped Saul, carried off his head and his armor, and sent them throughout Philistia to spread the good news to their idols and people. 10 They put Saul’s armor and weapons in the temple of their gods and impaled his skull in the temple of Dagon.
11 The entire city of Jabesh Gilead heard about everything that the Philistines had done to Saul. 12 So all the courageous, strong men set out and carried away the body of Saul and the bodies of his sons. They brought them to Jabesh and buried their bones under the terebinth[a] tree in Jabesh. Then they fasted for seven days.
13 Saul died as a result of the unfaithfulness which he had commited against the Lord by not keeping the Lord’s command and by seeking a medium to direct his actions. 14 He did not seek guidance from the Lord. That is why the Lord brought about his death and turned the kingdom over to David the son of Jesse.
