1. DA ADAMO A ISRAELE
Origine dei tre grandi gruppi
1 Adamo, Set, Enos, 2 Kenan, Maalaleèl, Iared, 3 Enoch, Matusalemme, Lamech, 4 Noè, Sem, Cam e Iafet.
Gli Iafetiti
5 Figli di Iafet: Gomer, Magòg, Media, Grecia, Tubal, Mesech e Tiras.
6 Figli di Gomer: Ascanàz, Rifat e Togarmà. 7 Figli di Grecia: Elisà, Tarsìs, quelli di Cipro e quelli di Rodi.
I Camiti
8 Figli di Cam: Etiopia, Egitto, Put e Canaan. 9 Figli di Etiopia: Seba, Avila, Sabta, Raemà e Sabtecà. Figli di Raemà: Saba e Dedan.
10 Etiopia generò Nimròd, che fu il primo eroe sulla terra. 11 Egitto generò i Ludi, gli Anamiti, i Leabiti, i Naftuchiti, 12 i Patrositi, i Casluchiti e i Caftoriti, dai quali derivarono i Filistei. 13 Canaan generò Sidòne suo primogenito, Chet, 14 il Gebuseo, l'Amorreo, il Gergeseo, 15 l'Eveo, l'Archita, il Sineo, 16 l'Arvadeo, lo Zemareo e l'Amateo.
I Semiti
17 Figli di Sem: Elam, Assur, Arpacsàd, Lud e Aram. Figli di Aram: Uz, Cul, Gheter e Mesech. 18 Arpacsàd generò Selàch; Selàch generò Eber. 19 A Eber nacquero due figli, uno si chiamava Peleg, perché ai suoi tempi si divise la terra, e suo fratello si chiamava Ioktàn. 20 Ioktàn generò Almodàd, Salef, Cazarmàvet, Ièrach, 21 Adoràm, Uzàl, Diklà, 22 Ebàl, Abimaèl, Saba, 23 Ofir, Avila e Iobàb; tutti costoro erano figli di Ioktàn.
Da Sem ad Abramo
24 Sem, Arpacsàd, Selàch, 25 Eber, Peleg, Reu, 26 Serug, Nacor, Terach, 27 Abram, cioè Abramo.
28 Figli di Abramo: Isacco e Ismaele.
29 Ecco la loro discendenza:
Gli Ismaeliti
Primogenito di Ismaele fu Nebaiòt; altri suoi figli: Kedàr, Adbeèl, Mibsàm, 30 Mismà, Duma, Massa, Cadàd, Tema, 31 Ietur, Nafis e Kedma; questi furono discendenti di Ismaele.
32 Figli di Keturà, concubina di Abramo: essa partorì Zimràn, Ioksàn, Medan, Madian, Isbak e Suach. Figli di Ioksàn: Saba e Dedan. 33 Figli di Madian: Efa, Efer, Enoch, Abibà ed Eldaà; tutti questi furono discendenti di Keturà.

34 Abramo generò Isacco. Figli di Isacco: Esaù e Israele. 35 Figli di Esaù: Elifàz, Reuèl, Ieus, Ialam e Core. 36 Figli di Elifàz: Teman, Omar, Zefi, Gatam, Kenaz, Timna e Amalek. 37 Figli di Reuèl: Nacat, Zerach, Sammà e Mizza.

38 Figli di Seir: Lotàn, Sobàl, Zibeòn, Ana, Dison, Eser e Disan. 39 Figli di Lotàn: Corì e Omàm. Sorella di Lotàn: Timna. 40 Figli di Sobàl: Alvan, Manàcat, Ebal, Sefi e Onam. Figli di Zibeòn: Aia e Ana. 41 Figli di Ana: Dison. Figli di Dison: Camràn, Esban, Itràn e Cheràn.

I re di Edom
43 Ecco i re che regnarono nel paese di Edom, prima che gli Israeliti avessero un re: Bela, figlio di Beòr; la sua città si chiamava Dinàba. 44 Morto Bela, divenne re al suo posto Iobàb, figlio di Zerach di Bozra. 45 Morto Iobàb, divenne re al suo posto Cusàm della regione dei Temaniti. 46 Morto Cusàm, divenne re al suo posto Hadàd figlio di Bedàd, il quale sconfisse i Madianiti nei campi di Moab; la sua città si chiamava Avit. 47 Morto Hadàd, divenne re al suo posto Samlà di Masrekà. 48 Morto Samlà, divenne re al suo posto Saul di Recobòt, sul fiume. 49 Morto Saul, divenne re al suo posto Baal-Canàn, figlio di Acbòr. 50 Morto Baal-Canàn, divenne re al suo posto Hadàd; la sua città si chiamava Pai; sua moglie si chiamava Mechetabèl, figlia di Matred, figlia di Mezaàb.

51 Morto Hadàd, in Edom ci furono capi: il capo di Timna, il capo di Alva, il capo di Ietet, 52 il capo di Oolibamà, il capo di Ela, il capo di Pinon, 53 il capo di Kenaz, il capo di Teman, il capo di Mibzar, 54 il capo di Magdièl, il capo di Iram. Questi furono i capi di Edom.

5 The sons[b] of Japheth:
Gomer, Magog, Madai, Javan, Tubal, Meshek and Tiras.
6 The sons of Gomer:
Ashkenaz, Riphath[c] and Togarmah.
7 The sons of Javan:
Elishah, Tarshish, the Kittites and the Rodanites.
The Hamites(L)
8 The sons of Ham:
Cush, Egypt, Put and Canaan.

18 Arphaxad was the father of Shelah,
and Shelah the father of Eber.
19 Two sons were born to Eber:
One was named Peleg,[g] because in his time the earth was divided; his brother was named Joktan.
20 Joktan was the father of
Almodad, Sheleph, Hazarmaveth, Jerah, 21 Hadoram, Uzal, Diklah, 22 Obal,[h] Abimael, Sheba, 23 Ophir, Havilah and Jobab. All these were sons of Joktan.

26 Serug, Nahor, Terah
27 and Abram (that is, Abraham).
The Family of Abraham
28 The sons of Abraham:
Isaac and Ishmael.
Descendants of Hagar(O)
29 These were their descendants:
Nebaioth the firstborn of Ishmael, Kedar, Adbeel, Mibsam, 30 Mishma, Dumah, Massa, Hadad, Tema, 31 Jetur, Naphish and Kedemah. These were the sons of Ishmael.
Descendants of Keturah(P)
32 The sons born to Keturah, Abraham’s concubine:(Q)
Zimran, Jokshan, Medan, Midian, Ishbak and Shuah.
The sons of Jokshan:
Sheba and Dedan.(R)
33 The sons of Midian:
Ephah, Epher, Hanok, Abida and Eldaah.
All these were descendants of Keturah.

The People of Seir in Edom(AA)
38 The sons of Seir:
Lotan, Shobal, Zibeon, Anah, Dishon, Ezer and Dishan.
39 The sons of Lotan:
Hori and Homam. Timna was Lotan’s sister.
40 The sons of Shobal:
Alvan,[l] Manahath, Ebal, Shepho and Onam.
The sons of Zibeon:

The sons of Dishon:
Hemdan,[m] Eshban, Ithran and Keran.

The Rulers of Edom(AC)
43 These were the kings who reigned in Edom before any Israelite king reigned:
Bela son of Beor, whose city was named Dinhabah.
44 When Bela died, Jobab son of Zerah from Bozrah succeeded him as king.
45 When Jobab died, Husham from the land of the Temanites(AD) succeeded him as king.
46 When Husham died, Hadad son of Bedad, who defeated Midian in the country of Moab, succeeded him as king. His city was named Avith.
47 When Hadad died, Samlah from Masrekah succeeded him as king.
48 When Samlah died, Shaul from Rehoboth on the river[p] succeeded him as king.
49 When Shaul died, Baal-Hanan son of Akbor succeeded him as king.
50 When Baal-Hanan died, Hadad succeeded him as king. His city was named Pau,[q] and his wife’s name was Mehetabel daughter of Matred, the daughter of Me-Zahab. 51 Hadad also died.
The chiefs of Edom were:
Timna, Alvah, Jetheth, 52 Oholibamah, Elah, Pinon, 53 Kenaz, Teman, Mibzar, 54 Magdiel and Iram. These were the chiefs of Edom.
