30 拉 結 見 自 己 不 給 雅 各 生 子 ， 就 嫉 妒 他 姊 姊 ， 對 雅 各 說 ： 你 給 我 孩 子 ， 不 然 我 就 死 了 。
2 雅 各 向 拉 結 生 氣 ， 說 ： 叫 你 不 生 育 的 是 神 ， 我 豈 能 代 替 他 作 主 呢 ？
3 拉 結 說 ： 有 我 的 使 女 辟 拉 在 這 裡 ， 你 可 以 與 他 同 房 ， 使 他 生 子 在 我 膝 下 ， 我 便 因 他 也 得 孩 子 ( 原 文 作 被 建 立 ) 。
4 拉 結 就 把 他 的 使 女 辟 拉 給 丈 夫 為 妾 ； 雅 各 便 與 他 同 房 ，
5 辟 拉 就 懷 孕 ， 給 雅 各 生 了 一 個 兒 子 。
6 拉 結 說 ： 神 伸 了 我 的 冤 ， 也 聽 了 我 的 聲 音 ， 賜 我 一 個 兒 子 ， 因 此 給 他 起 名 叫 但 ( 就 是 伸 冤 的 意 思 ) 。
7 拉 結 的 使 女 辟 拉 又 懷 孕 ， 給 雅 各 生 了 第 二 個 兒 子 。
8 拉 結 說 ： 我 與 我 姊 姊 大 大 相 爭 ， 並 且 得 勝 ， 於 是 給 他 起 名 叫 拿 弗 他 利 ( 就 是 相 爭 的 意 思 ) 。
9 利 亞 見 自 己 停 了 生 育 ， 就 把 使 女 悉 帕 給 雅 各 為 妾 。
10 利 亞 的 使 女 悉 帕 給 雅 各 生 了 一 個 兒 子 。
11 利 亞 說 ： 萬 幸 ！ 於 是 給 他 起 名 叫 迦 得 ( 就 是 萬 幸 的 意 思 ) 。
12 利 亞 的 使 女 悉 帕 又 給 雅 各 生 了 第 二 個 兒 子 。
13 利 亞 說 ： 我 有 福 阿 ， 眾 女 子 都 要 稱 我 是 有 福 的 ， 於 是 給 他 起 名 叫 亞 設 ( 就 是 有 福 的 意 思 ) 。
14 割 麥 子 的 時 候 ， 流 便 往 田 裡 去 ， 尋 見 風 茄 ， 拿 來 給 他 母 親 利 亞 。 拉 結 對 利 亞 說 ： 請 你 把 你 兒 子 的 風 茄 給 我 些 。
15 利 亞 說 ： 你 奪 了 我 的 丈 夫 還 算 小 事 麼 ？ 你 又 要 奪 我 兒 子 的 風 茄 麼 ？ 拉 結 說 ： 為 你 兒 子 的 風 茄 ， 今 夜 他 可 以 與 你 同 寢 。
16 到 了 晚 上 ， 雅 各 從 田 裡 回 來 ， 利 亞 出 來 迎 接 他 ， 說 ： 你 要 與 我 同 寢 ， 因 為 我 實 在 用 我 兒 子 的 風 茄 把 你 雇 下 了 。 那 一 夜 ， 雅 各 就 與 他 同 寢 。
17 神 應 允 了 利 亞 ， 他 就 懷 孕 ， 給 雅 各 生 了 第 五 個 兒 子 。
18 利 亞 說 ： 神 給 了 我 價 值 ， 因 為 我 把 使 女 給 了 我 丈 夫 ， 於 是 給 他 起 名 叫 以 薩 迦 ( 就 是 價 值 的 意 思 ) 。
19 利 亞 又 懷 孕 ， 給 雅 各 生 了 第 六 個 兒 子 。
20 利 亞 說 ： 神 賜 我 厚 賞 ； 我 丈 夫 必 與 我 同 住 ， 因 我 給 他 生 了 六 個 兒 子 ， 於 是 給 他 起 名 西 布 倫 ( 就 是 同 住 的 意 思 ) 。
21 後 來 又 生 了 一 個 女 兒 ， 給 他 起 名 叫 底 拿 。
22 神 顧 念 拉 結 ， 應 允 了 他 ， 使 他 能 生 育 。
23 拉 結 懷 孕 生 子 ， 說 ： 神 除 去 了 我 的 羞 恥 ，
24 就 給 他 起 名 叫 約 瑟 ( 就 是 增 添 的 意 思 ) ， 意 思 說 ： 願 耶 和 華 再 增 添 我 一 個 兒 子 。
25 拉 結 生 約 瑟 之 後 ， 雅 各 對 拉 班 說 ： 請 打 發 我 走 ， 叫 我 回 到 我 本 鄉 本 土 去 。
26 請 你 把 我 服 事 你 所 得 的 妻 子 和 兒 女 給 我 ， 讓 我 走 ； 我 怎 樣 服 事 你 ， 你 都 知 道 。
27 拉 班 對 他 說 ： 我 若 在 你 眼 前 蒙 恩 ， 請 你 仍 與 我 同 住 ， 因 為 我 已 算 定 ， 耶 和 華 賜 福 與 我 是 為 你 的 緣 故 ；
28 又 說 ： 請 你 定 你 的 工 價 ， 我 就 給 你 。
29 雅 各 對 他 說 ： 我 怎 樣 服 事 你 ， 你 的 牲 畜 在 我 手 裡 怎 樣 ， 是 你 知 道 的 。
30 我 未 來 之 先 ， 你 所 有 的 很 少 ， 現 今 卻 發 大 眾 多 ， 耶 和 華 隨 我 的 腳 步 賜 福 與 你 。 如 今 ， 我 甚 麼 時 候 才 為 自 己 興 家 立 業 呢 ？
31 拉 班 說 ： 我 當 給 你 甚 麼 呢 ？ 雅 各 說 ： 甚 麼 你 也 不 必 給 我 ， 只 有 一 件 事 ， 你 若 應 承 ， 我 便 仍 舊 牧 放 你 的 羊 群 。
32 今 天 我 要 走 遍 你 的 羊 群 ， 把 綿 羊 中 凡 有 點 的 、 有 斑 的 ， 和 黑 色 的 ， 並 山 羊 中 凡 有 斑 的 、 有 點 的 ， 都 挑 出 來 ； 將 來 這 一 等 的 就 算 我 的 工 價 。
33 以 後 你 來 查 看 我 的 工 價 ， 凡 在 我 手 裡 的 山 羊 不 是 有 點 有 斑 的 ， 綿 羊 不 是 黑 色 的 ， 那 就 算 是 我 偷 的 ； 這 樣 便 可 證 出 我 的 公 義 來 。
34 拉 班 說 ： 好 阿 ！ 我 情 願 照 著 你 的 話 行 。
35 當 日 ， 拉 班 把 有 紋 的 、 有 斑 的 公 山 羊 ， 有 點 的 、 有 斑 的 、 有 雜 白 紋 的 母 山 羊 ， 並 黑 色 的 綿 羊 ， 都 挑 出 來 ， 交 在 他 兒 子 們 的 手 下 ，
36 又 使 自 己 和 雅 各 相 離 三 天 的 路 程 。 雅 各 就 牧 養 拉 班 其 餘 的 羊 。
37 雅 各 拿 楊 樹 、 杏 樹 、 楓 樹 的 嫩 枝 ， 將 皮 剝 成 白 紋 ， 使 枝 子 露 出 白 的 來 ，
38 將 剝 了 皮 的 枝 子 ， 對 著 羊 群 ， 插 在 飲 羊 的 水 溝 裡 和 水 槽 裡 ， 羊 來 喝 的 時 候 ， 牝 牡 配 合 。
39 羊 對 著 枝 子 配 合 ， 就 生 下 有 紋 的 、 有 點 的 、 有 斑 的 來 。
40 雅 各 把 羊 羔 分 出 來 ， 使 拉 班 的 羊 與 這 有 紋 和 黑 色 的 羊 相 對 ， 把 自 己 的 羊 另 放 一 處 ， 不 叫 他 和 拉 班 的 羊 混 雜 。
41 到 羊 群 肥 壯 配 合 的 時 候 ， 雅 各 就 把 枝 子 插 在 水 溝 裡 ， 使 羊 對 著 枝 子 配 合 。
42 只 是 到 羊 瘦 弱 配 合 的 時 候 就 不 插 枝 子 。 這 樣 ， 瘦 弱 的 就 歸 拉 班 ， 肥 壯 的 就 歸 雅 各 。
43 於 是 雅 各 極 其 發 大 ， 得 了 許 多 的 羊 群 、 僕 婢 、 駱 駝 ， 和 驢 。

30 拉结见自己没有给雅各生孩子，就嫉妒她的姊姊，对雅各说：“你要给我儿子，不然，我要死了。” 2 雅各就向拉结生气，说：“使你不能生育的是 神，我能代替他吗？” 3 拉结说：“我的婢女辟拉在这里，你可以与她亲近，使她生子归我，我就可以从她得到孩子（“得到孩子”直译是“被建立”）。” 4 于是，拉结把自己的婢女辟拉给了雅各为妾，雅各就与她亲近。 5 辟拉怀孕，给雅各生了一个儿子。 6 拉结说：“ 神为我伸了冤，也垂听了我的声音，赐给我一个儿子。”所以给他起名叫但。 7 拉结的使女辟拉又怀孕，给雅各生了第二个儿子。 8 拉结说：“我与姊姊大大地相争（“大大地相争”直译是“以 神的相争来相争”），我得胜了。”于是给孩子起名叫拿弗他利（“拿弗他利”的意思是“相争”）。
9 利亚见自己停止生育，就把她的婢女悉帕给了雅各为妾。 10 利亚的婢女悉帕给雅各生了一个儿子。 11 利亚说：“我真幸运。”给他起名叫迦得。 12 利亚的婢女悉帕又给雅各生了第二个儿子。 13 利亚说：“我真有福气，众女子都要称我是有福的。”于是给孩子起名叫亚设。
14 到了收割麦子的时候，流本出去，在田间找到了一些风茄，就拿来给他母亲利亚。拉结对利亚说：“请你把你儿子的风茄分一些给我。” 15 利亚回答拉结：“你夺去了我的丈夫，还算小事吗？你还要夺去我儿子的风茄吗？”拉结说：“好吧，今夜就让他与你同睡，来交换你儿子的风茄。” 16 到了晚上，雅各从田间回来，利亚出去迎接他，说：“你要与我亲近，因为我实在用我儿子的风茄把你雇下了。”那一夜，雅各就与利亚同睡。 17 神垂听了利亚的祷告，利亚就怀孕，给雅各生了第五个儿子。 18 利亚说：“ 神给了我酬报，因为我把我的婢女给了我的丈夫。”于是给孩子起名叫以萨迦。 19 利亚又怀孕，给雅各生了第六个儿子。 20 利亚说：“ 神把美好的礼物送了给我，这一次我的丈夫要抬举我了，因为我给他生了六个儿子。”于是给孩子起名叫西布伦。 21 后来利亚又生了一个女儿，给她起名叫底拿。 22 神顾念拉结，垂听了她的祷告，使她能生育。 23 拉结就怀孕，生了一个儿子，说：“ 神把我的耻辱除去了。” 24 于是给孩子起名叫约瑟，说：“愿耶和华再给我一个儿子。”
雅各向拉班订定工价
25 拉结生了约瑟以后，雅各对拉班说：“请你让我走吧，我好回到自己的地方，自己的故乡去。 26 请你把我服事你所得的妻子和儿女都给我，让我回去；我怎样服事了你，你是知道的。” 27 拉班对他说：“我若蒙你赏脸，请你不要走，因为我得了神旨，知道耶和华赐福给我，是因你的缘故。” 28 他又说：“请你定你的工资吧，我必给你。” 29 雅各对拉班说：“我怎样服事了你，你的牲畜在我手里情形怎样，你是知道的。 30 我没来以前，你所有的很少，现在却大大地增加了；耶和华随着我的脚踪赐福给你。现在，我甚么时候才能兴家立业呢？” 31 拉班问：“我该给你甚么？”雅各回答：“你甚么也不必给我；只要你答应我这一件事，我就继续牧放看守你的羊群。 32 今天我要走遍你的羊群，凡有斑点的羊、黑色的绵羊和有斑点的山羊，都挑出来，作为我的工资。 33 日后你来查看我的工资的时候，我好对你证明我的公道。凡在我手里没有斑点的山羊，或不是黑色的绵羊，都算是我偷来的。” 34 拉班回答：“好吧，就照你的话去作。” 35 当日，拉班把有条纹和有斑点的公山羊、有斑点和有白纹的母山羊，以及所有黑色的绵羊，都挑出来交在自己的众子手里。 36 又使自己和雅各之间相距有三天的路程。雅各就牧放拉班其余的羊群。
雅各使用诡计致富
37 雅各拿杨树、杏树和枫树的嫩枝子，把树皮剥成白色的条纹，使枝子露出白的部分来。 38 然后把剥了皮的枝子插在水沟和水槽里，枝子正对着来喝水的羊群。羊群来喝水的时候，就彼此交配。 39 羊群对着枝子交配，就生下有条纹和有斑点的小羊来。 40 雅各把羊羔分别出来，使拉班的羊，对着这些有条纹的和所有黑色的羊。他为自己另组羊群，不把牠们放在拉班的羊群中。 41 到了肥壮的羊群要交配的时候，雅各就在羊群的面前把枝子插在水沟里，使牠们在枝子中间彼此交配。 42 但当瘦弱的羊群交配的时候，雅各就不插枝子。这样，瘦弱的就归拉班，肥壮的就归雅各。 43 于是，雅各变得非常富有，拥有很多羊群、仆婢、骆驼和驴。

30 When Rachel saw that she was not bearing Jacob any children,(A) she became jealous of her sister.(B) So she said to Jacob, “Give me children, or I’ll die!”
2 Jacob became angry with her and said, “Am I in the place of God,(C) who has kept you from having children?”(D)
3 Then she said, “Here is Bilhah,(E) my servant.(F) Sleep with her so that she can bear children for me and I too can build a family through her.”(G)
4 So she gave him her servant Bilhah as a wife.(H) Jacob slept with her,(I) 5 and she became pregnant and bore him a son. 6 Then Rachel said, “God has vindicated me;(J) he has listened to my plea and given me a son.”(K) Because of this she named him Dan.[a](L)
7 Rachel’s servant Bilhah(M) conceived again and bore Jacob a second son. 8 Then Rachel said, “I have had a great struggle with my sister, and I have won.”(N) So she named him Naphtali.[b](O)
9 When Leah(P) saw that she had stopped having children,(Q) she took her servant Zilpah(R) and gave her to Jacob as a wife.(S) 10 Leah’s servant Zilpah(T) bore Jacob a son. 11 Then Leah said, “What good fortune!”[c] So she named him Gad.[d](U)
12 Leah’s servant Zilpah bore Jacob a second son. 13 Then Leah said, “How happy I am! The women will call me(V) happy.”(W) So she named him Asher.[e](X)
14 During wheat harvest,(Y) Reuben went out into the fields and found some mandrake plants,(Z) which he brought to his mother Leah. Rachel said to Leah, “Please give me some of your son’s mandrakes.”
15 But she said to her, “Wasn’t it enough(AA) that you took away my husband? Will you take my son’s mandrakes too?”
“Very well,” Rachel said, “he can sleep with you tonight in return for your son’s mandrakes.”(AB)
16 So when Jacob came in from the fields that evening, Leah went out to meet him. “You must sleep with me,” she said. “I have hired you with my son’s mandrakes.”(AC) So he slept with her that night.
17 God listened to Leah,(AD) and she became pregnant and bore Jacob a fifth son. 18 Then Leah said, “God has rewarded me for giving my servant to my husband.”(AE) So she named him Issachar.[f](AF)
19 Leah conceived again and bore Jacob a sixth son. 20 Then Leah said, “God has presented me with a precious gift. This time my husband will treat me with honor,(AG) because I have borne him six sons.” So she named him Zebulun.[g](AH)
21 Some time later she gave birth to a daughter and named her Dinah.(AI)
22 Then God remembered Rachel;(AJ) he listened to her(AK) and enabled her to conceive.(AL) 23 She became pregnant and gave birth to a son(AM) and said, “God has taken away my disgrace.”(AN) 24 She named him Joseph,[h](AO) and said, “May the Lord add to me another son.”(AP)
Jacob’s Flocks Increase
25 After Rachel gave birth to Joseph, Jacob said to Laban, “Send me on my way(AQ) so I can go back to my own homeland.(AR) 26 Give me my wives and children, for whom I have served you,(AS) and I will be on my way. You know how much work I’ve done for you.”
27 But Laban said to him, “If I have found favor in your eyes,(AT) please stay. I have learned by divination(AU) that the Lord has blessed me because of you.”(AV) 28 He added, “Name your wages,(AW) and I will pay them.”
29 Jacob said to him, “You know how I have worked for you(AX) and how your livestock has fared under my care.(AY) 30 The little you had before I came has increased greatly, and the Lord has blessed you wherever I have been.(AZ) But now, when may I do something for my own household?(BA)”
31 “What shall I give you?” he asked.
“Don’t give me anything,” Jacob replied. “But if you will do this one thing for me, I will go on tending your flocks and watching over them: 32 Let me go through all your flocks today and remove from them every speckled or spotted sheep, every dark-colored lamb and every spotted or speckled goat.(BB) They will be my wages.(BC) 33 And my honesty will testify for me in the future, whenever you check on the wages you have paid me. Any goat in my possession that is not speckled or spotted, or any lamb that is not dark-colored,(BD) will be considered stolen.(BE)”
34 “Agreed,” said Laban. “Let it be as you have said.” 35 That same day he removed all the male goats that were streaked or spotted, and all the speckled or spotted female goats (all that had white on them) and all the dark-colored lambs,(BF) and he placed them in the care of his sons.(BG) 36 Then he put a three-day journey(BH) between himself and Jacob, while Jacob continued to tend the rest of Laban’s flocks.
37 Jacob, however, took fresh-cut branches from poplar, almond(BI) and plane trees(BJ) and made white stripes on them by peeling the bark and exposing the white inner wood of the branches.(BK) 38 Then he placed the peeled branches(BL) in all the watering troughs,(BM) so that they would be directly in front of the flocks when they came to drink. When the flocks were in heat(BN) and came to drink, 39 they mated in front of the branches.(BO) And they bore young that were streaked or speckled or spotted.(BP) 40 Jacob set apart the young of the flock by themselves, but made the rest face the streaked and dark-colored animals(BQ) that belonged to Laban. Thus he made separate flocks for himself and did not put them with Laban’s animals. 41 Whenever the stronger females were in heat,(BR) Jacob would place the branches in the troughs in front of the animals so they would mate near the branches,(BS) 42 but if the animals were weak, he would not place them there. So the weak animals went to Laban and the strong ones to Jacob.(BT) 43 In this way the man grew exceedingly prosperous and came to own large flocks, and female and male servants, and camels and donkeys.(BU)
