約瑟為法老解夢
41 兩年後,法老做了個夢,夢見自己站在尼羅河邊, 2 有七頭肥美、健壯的母牛從河裡上來,在蘆葦叢中吃草。 3 隨後又有七頭醜陋、瘦弱的母牛從河裡上來,與那七頭母牛一同站在河邊。 4 後來,七頭醜陋、瘦弱的母牛吃掉了七頭肥美、健壯的母牛。這時,法老醒了過來。
5 之後,他又睡著了,又做了個夢。他夢見一株麥子上長了七個飽滿的穗子。 6 後來這株麥子上面又長了七個乾癟的穗子,它們被東風吹乾了。 7 七個乾癟的穗子吞食了七個飽滿的穗子。法老醒過來,原來是一場夢。
8 早上法老心中不安,就派人召來埃及所有的術士和博學之士,把夢告訴他們,可是沒有一個人能為他解夢。
9 後來,侍酒總管對法老說:「我今天才想起我的罪過。 10 我從前和膳食總管惹王生氣,被王囚禁在護衛長府內的牢裡。 11 一天晚上,我倆都做了夢。 12 當時有一個希伯來青年跟我們一起被囚在牢裡,他是護衛長的僕人。我們把夢告訴他,他就分別為我們解夢。 13 後來,他為我們解的夢都應驗了,我恢復了原職,膳食總管被掛在木頭上處死了。」
14 於是,法老派人去召約瑟,他們急忙釋放約瑟。約瑟剃頭刮臉,更換衣服,去見法老。 15 法老對約瑟說:「我做了一個夢,沒有人能為我解夢。我聽說你能解夢。」 16 約瑟回答說:「我自己不會解夢,但上帝卻能給王圓滿的解釋。」
17 法老對約瑟說:「我夢見自己站在尼羅河邊, 18 有七頭肥美、健壯的母牛從河裡上來,在蘆葦叢中吃草。 19 隨後又有七頭醜陋、瘦弱的母牛從河裡上來,我在埃及從來沒有見過有這麼醜陋的牛。 20 這些醜陋、瘦弱的母牛吃掉先前的七頭肥母牛。 21 可是,牠們吃了以後卻仍然像以前那麼醜陋。這時,我就醒了。 22 後來我又夢見一株麥子,上面長了七個飽滿的穗子, 23 接著又長出七個乾癟的穗子, 24 這些乾癟的穗子吞了那七個飽滿的穗子。我把夢告訴了術士,卻沒有人能為我解夢。」
25 約瑟對法老說:「王的夢都是同一個意思,上帝已經藉著夢把祂將要做的事指示王了。 26 七頭肥美的母牛和七個飽滿的穗子都代表七年,是同樣的意思。 27 七頭瘦弱、醜陋的母牛和七個乾癟、被東風吹乾的穗子也代表七年,是七年饑荒。 28 正如我剛才說的,上帝已經把祂將要做的事向王顯明了。 29 埃及全境很快會有七年大豐收, 30 隨後是七年饑荒肆虐全國,之前的豐收將被忘記。 31 饑荒將非常嚴重,之前的豐收將蕩然無存。 32 王的夢出現了兩次,表示上帝的心意已定,上帝必很快成就這事。 33 王應該選一個精明的人,派他治理埃及。 34 王也應該在各地委派官員,在七年豐收期內徵收全國出產的五分之一, 35 把在豐年收集的糧食儲存在各城,歸王管理。 36 這些糧食要留到七年饑荒時用,免得這片土地被饑荒毀滅。」

37 法老和他所有的臣僕都贊同約瑟的建議。 38 法老對臣僕說:「我們哪裡找像這樣有上帝的靈同在的人呢?」 39 法老對約瑟說:「上帝既然把夢的意思指示給你,可見沒人有你這樣的見識和智慧。 40 我要派你管理我家,我的人民都要遵從你的命令,只有我權力比你大。」 41 法老又說:「我現在派你治理埃及全國。」 42 於是,法老摘下手上用來蓋印的戒指,戴在約瑟的手上,給他穿上細麻袍,把金鏈戴在他頸上, 43 讓他坐在自己的第二輛御車上,並有人在御車前高呼:「跪下!」這樣,法老派約瑟治理整個埃及。 44 法老對約瑟說:「我是法老,但沒有你的命令,埃及的任何人都不得擅自行事。」 45 法老賜給約瑟一個名字叫撒發那忒·巴內亞,又把安城祭司波提非拉的女兒亞西納賜給他為妻。約瑟巡視了整個埃及。
46 約瑟三十歲開始為法老效勞,他離開法老去巡視埃及各地。 47 七個豐年之內,埃及糧食大豐收, 48 約瑟收集七個豐年出產的所有糧食,儲藏進各城,每一座城附近出產的糧食都存放在本城。 49 約瑟積存了大量五穀,多如海沙,不可勝數。
50 荒年到來前,安城祭司波提非拉的女兒亞西納給約瑟生了兩個兒子。 51 約瑟給長子取名叫瑪拿西,因為他說:「上帝使我忘記一切的困苦和我父親家。」 52 約瑟給次子取名叫以法蓮,因為他說:「上帝使我在受苦之地昌盛。」
53 七個豐年結束後, 54 七個荒年接踵而至,正如約瑟所言。各地都有饑荒,只有埃及全國有糧食。 55 後來,埃及全國也鬧饑荒,百姓就向法老求糧,法老對他們說:「你們去找約瑟吧,要照他的吩咐做。」

41 One night two years later, Pharaoh dreamed that he was standing on the bank of the Nile River, 2 when suddenly, seven sleek, fat cows came up out of the river and began grazing in the grass. 3 Then seven other cows came up from the river, but they were very skinny and all their ribs stood out. They went over and stood beside the fat cows. 4 Then the skinny cows ate the fat ones! At which point, Pharaoh woke up!
5 Soon he fell asleep again and had a second dream. This time he saw seven heads of grain on one stalk, with every kernel well formed and plump. 6 Then, suddenly, seven more heads appeared on the stalk, but these were shriveled and withered by the east wind. 7 And these thin heads swallowed up the seven plump, well-formed heads! Then Pharaoh woke up again and realized it was all a dream. 8 Next morning, as he thought about it, he became very concerned as to what the dreams might mean; he called for all the magicians and sages of Egypt and told them about it, but not one of them could suggest what his dreams meant. 9 Then the king’s wine taster spoke up. “Today I remember my sin!” he said. 10 “Some time ago when you were angry with a couple of us and put me and the chief baker in jail in the castle of the captain of the guard, 11 the chief baker and I each had a dream one night. 12 We told the dreams to a young Hebrew fellow there who was a slave of the captain of the guard, and he told us what our dreams meant. 13 And everything happened just as he said: I was restored to my position of wine taster, and the chief baker was executed, and impaled on a pole.”
14 Pharaoh sent at once for Joseph. He was brought hastily from the dungeon, and after a quick shave and change of clothes, came in before Pharaoh.
15 “I had a dream last night,” Pharaoh told him, “and none of these men can tell me what it means. But I have heard that you can interpret dreams, and that is why I have called for you.”
16 “I can’t do it by myself,” Joseph replied, “but God will tell you what it means!”
17 So Pharaoh told him the dream. “I was standing upon the bank of the Nile River,” he said, 18 “when suddenly, seven fat, healthy-looking cows came up out of the river and began grazing along the riverbank. 19 But then seven other cows came up from the river, very skinny and bony—in fact, I’ve never seen such poor-looking specimens in all the land of Egypt. 20 And these skinny cattle ate up the seven fat ones that had come out first, 21 and afterwards they were still as skinny as before! Then I woke up.
22 “A little later I had another dream. This time there were seven heads of grain on one stalk, and all seven heads were plump and full. 23 Then, out of the same stalk, came seven withered, thin heads. 24 And the thin heads swallowed up the fat ones! I told all this to my magicians, but not one of them could tell me the meaning.”
25 “Both dreams mean the same thing,” Joseph told Pharaoh. “God was telling you what he is going to do here in the land of Egypt. 26 The seven fat cows (and also the seven fat, well-formed heads of grain) mean that there are seven years of prosperity ahead. 27 The seven skinny cows (and also the seven thin and withered heads of grain) indicate that there will be seven years of famine following the seven years of prosperity.
28 “So God has showed you what he is about to do: 29 The next seven years will be a period of great prosperity throughout all the land of Egypt; 30 but afterwards there will be seven years of famine so great that all the prosperity will be forgotten and wiped out; famine will consume the land. 31 The famine will be so terrible that even the memory of the good years will be erased. 32 The double dream gives double impact, showing that what I have told you is certainly going to happen, for God has decreed it, and it is going to happen soon. 33 My suggestion is that you find the wisest man in Egypt and put him in charge of administering a nationwide farm program. 34-35 Let Pharaoh divide Egypt into five administrative districts,[a] and let the officials of these districts gather into the royal storehouses all the excess crops of the next seven years, 36 so that there will be enough to eat when the seven years of famine come. Otherwise, disaster will surely strike.”
37 Joseph’s suggestions were well received by Pharaoh and his assistants. 38 As they discussed who should be appointed for the job, Pharaoh said, “Who could do it better than Joseph? For he is a man who is obviously filled with the Spirit of God.” 39 Turning to Joseph, Pharaoh said to him, “Since God has revealed the meaning of the dreams to you, you are the wisest man in the country! 40 I am hereby appointing you to be in charge of this entire project. What you say goes, throughout all the land of Egypt. I alone will outrank you.”
41-42 Then Pharaoh placed his own signet ring on Joseph’s finger as a token of his authority, and dressed him in beautiful clothing and placed the royal gold chain about his neck and declared, “See, I have placed you in charge of all the land of Egypt.”
43 Pharaoh also gave Joseph the chariot of his second-in-command, and wherever he went the shout arose, “Kneel down!” 44 And Pharaoh declared to Joseph, “I, the king of Egypt, swear that you shall have complete charge over all the land of Egypt.”
45 Pharaoh gave him a name meaning “He has the godlike power of life and death!”[b] And he gave him a wife, a girl named Asenath, daughter of Potiphera, priest of Heliopolis. So Joseph became famous throughout the land of Egypt. 46 He was thirty years old as he entered the service of the king. Joseph went out from the presence of Pharaoh and began traveling all across the land.
47 And sure enough, for the next seven years there were bumper crops everywhere. 48 During those years, Joseph requisitioned for the government a portion of all the crops grown throughout Egypt, storing them in nearby cities. 49 After seven years of this, the granaries were full to overflowing, and there was so much that no one kept track of the amount.
50 During this time before the arrival of the first of the famine years, two sons were born to Joseph by Asenath, the daughter of Potiphera, priest of the sun god Re of Heliopolis. 51 Joseph named his oldest son Manasseh (meaning “Made to Forget”—what he meant was that God had made up to him for all the anguish of his youth, and for the loss of his father’s home). 52 The second boy was named Ephraim (meaning “Fruitful”—“For God has made me fruitful in this land of my slavery,” he said).
53 So at last the seven years of plenty came to an end. 54 Then the seven years of famine began, just as Joseph had predicted. There were crop failures in all the surrounding countries, too, but in Egypt there was plenty of grain in the storehouses. 55 The people began to starve. They pleaded with Pharaoh for food, and he sent them to Joseph. “Do whatever he tells you to,” he instructed them.
56-57 So now, with severe famine all over the world, Joseph opened up the storehouses and sold grain to the Egyptians and to those from other lands who came to Egypt to buy grain from Joseph.

8 Mmawa, Farao anavutika mu mtima kotero anayitanitsa amatsenga ndi anzeru onse a mu Igupto. Iwo atabwera, iye anawawuza maloto ake, koma panalibe ndi mmodzi yemwe amene anatha kutanthauzira malotowo kwa Farao.
9 Ndipo mkulu wa operekera zakumwa anati kwa Farao, “Lero ndakumbukira kulephera kwanga. 10 Paja nthawi ina Farao anapsera mtima antchito akefe, ndipo anatitsekera (ine ndi mkulu wa ophika buledi) mʼndende, mʼnyumba ya mkulu wa alonda. 11 Tsiku lina tonse awiri tinalota maloto, ndipo loto lililonse linali ndi tanthauzo lake. 12 Tsono momwemo munali mnyamata wina Wachihebri, wantchito wa mkulu wa alonda. Ife tinamufotokozera maloto athu, ndipo anatitanthauzira malotowo. Munthu aliyense anamupatsa tanthauzo la loto lake. 13 Ndipo zinthu zinachitikadi monga mmene anatitanthauzira. 14 Choncho Farao anamuyitanitsa Yosefe, ndipo mofulumira anabwera naye kuchokera mʼdzenje muja. Ndipo atameta, ndi kusintha zovala, anapita kwa Farao.
15 Farao anati kwa Yosefe, “Ndinalota maloto ndipo palibe amene watha kunditanthauzira. Tsono ndawuzidwa kuti iwe ukamva loto umadziwanso kulimasulira.”
16 Yosefe anamuyankha Farao kuti, “Sindingathe koma Mulungu apereka yankho limene Farao akufuna.”
17 Ndipo Farao anati kwa Yosefe, “Ndinalota nditayimirira mʼmphepete mwa mtsinje wa Nailo, 18 ndipo ngʼombe zisanu ndi ziwiri zonenepa ndi zooneka bwino zinatuluka mu mtsinje muja ndi kumadya msipu wa mu mawango. 19 Kenaka, ngʼombe zina zisanu ndi ziwiri zinatuluka. Izi zinali zosaoneka bwino ndiponso zowonda ndipo sindinaonepo ngʼombe zosaoneka bwino chonchi mʼdziko lonse la Igupto. 20 Ngʼombe zosaoneka bwino ndi zowonda zija zinadya zisanu ndi ziwiri zonenepa zimene zinatuluka poyamba zija. 21 Koma ngakhale ngʼombezi zinadya zinazo, palibe amene akanatha kuzindikira kuti zinatero popeza zinali zosaonekabe bwino monga poyamba. Ndipo ndinadzidzimuka.
22 “Nditagonanso kachiwiri, ndinalota ngala zisanu ndi ziwiri za tirigu zathanzi ndi zonenepa zitabala pa phata limodzi. 23 Kenaka panaphukanso ngala zina zisanu ndi ziwiri zofota, zowonda ndi zowauka ndi mphepo ya kummawa. 24 Ngala zowondazo zinameza ngala zisanu ndi ziwiri zabwino zija. Ndinawawuza amatsenga koma palibe ndi mmodzi yemwe anatha kundimasulira.”
25 Ndipo Yosefe anati kwa Farao, “Maloto awiriwa ndi ofanana ndipo ali ndi tanthauzo limodzi. Mulungu waululira Farao chimene atachite. 26 Ngʼombe zisanu ndi ziwiri zabwinozo ndi zaka zisanu ndi ziwiri. Ndipo ngala zisanu ndi ziwiri zabwinozo ndi zaka zisanu ndi ziwiri. Kutanthauza kwa maloto nʼkumodzi. 27 Ngʼombe zisanu ndi ziwiri zowonda ndi zosaoneka bwino zimene zinatuluka pambuyozo ndiponso ngala zisanu ndi ziwiri zachabechabe, zowauka ndi mphepo ya kummawa zija ndi zaka zisanu ndi ziwiri za njala.
28 “Tsono ndi monga ndafotokozeramu kuti Mulungu wakuwuziranitu zimene adzachite. 29 Zaka zisanu ndi ziwiri za zokolola zochuluka zikubwera mu dziko lonse la Igupto, 30 koma zidzatsatana ndi zaka zina zisanu ndi ziwiri za njala. Chakudya chochuluka cha mu Igupto chija chidzayiwalika ndipo njalayo idzawononga dziko. 31 Zakudya zochuluka za mʼdzikomo zija sizidzakumbukirikanso chifukwa njala imene iti idzabwereyo idzakhala yoopsa. 32 Popeza kuti malotowa aperekedwa kwa inu Mfumu kawiri, ndiye kuti Mulungu watsimikiza kuti adzachitadi zimenezi posachedwapa.
33 “Tsopano Farao apezeretu munthu wozindikira ndi wanzeru ndipo amuyike kukhala woyangʼanira dziko lonse la Igupto. 34 Asankhenso akuluakulu a mʼdziko lino. Iwowa azitenga ndi kuyika padera limodzi la magawo asanu aliwonse a zokolola za mʼdziko muno mu zaka zonse zisanu ndi ziwiri za chakudya chochuluka. 35 Iwo asonkhanitse zakudya zonse za mʼzaka zabwino zikubwerazi. Pansi pa ulamuliro wa Farao, akuluakuluwo asonkhanitse ndi kusunga bwino tirigu mʼmizinda yonse. 36 Chakudya chimenechi chisungidwe kuti chidzagwiritsidwe ntchito mʼzaka zisanu ndi ziwiri za njala imene ikubwerayo mu Igupto, kuti anthu a mʼdzikoli asadzafe ndi njalayo.”
37 Farao ndi nduna zake anagwirizana nawo malangizo a Yosefe. 38 Choncho Farao anafunsa nduna zake nati, “Kodi tingathe kumupeza munthu wina ngati uyu, amene ali ndi mzimu wa Mulungu?”
39 Farao anati kwa Yosefe, “Pakuti Mulungu wakudziwitsa iwe zonsezi, palibe wina wodziwa zinthu ndi wanzeru ngati iwe. 40 Iwe ukhala nduna yayikulu mu dziko langa ndipo anthu onse adzamvera zimene walamula. Ine ndekha ndiye amene ndidzakuposa mphamvu chifukwa ndimakhala pa mpando waufumu.”

41 Choncho Farao anati kwa Yosefe, “Ine ndikukuyika iwe kukhala nduna yoyangʼanira dziko lonse la Igupto.” 42 Ndipo Farao anavula mphete ku chala chake nayiveka ku chala cha Yosefe. Anamuvekanso mkanjo wonyezimira ndi nkufu wagolide mʼkhosi mwake. 43 Anamukweza Yosefe pa galeta ngati wachiwiri pa ulamuliro. Ndipo anthu anafuwula pamaso pake nati, “Mʼgwadireni!” Motero anakhala nduna yayikulu ya dziko lonse la Igupto.
44 Kenaka Farao anati kwa Yosefe, “Ine ndine Farao; tsono iwe ukapanda kulamula, palibe amene akhoza kuchita chilichonse ngakhale kuyenda kumene mʼdziko lonse la Igupto.” 45 Farao anamupatsa Yosefe dzina lakuti Zafenati-Panea ndipo anamupatsanso Asenati mwana wa mkazi wa Potifara, wansembe wa Oni, kuti akhale mkazi wake. Choncho Yosefe anayendera dziko lonse la Igupto.
46 Yosefe anali ndi zaka 30 pamene amayamba ntchito kwa Farao, mfumu ya ku Igupto. Ndipo Yosefe anachoka pa maso pa Farao nayendera dziko lonse la Igupto. 47 Mʼzaka zisanu ndi ziwiri za zokolola zambiri zija, anthu mʼdzikomo anakolola zochuluka. 48 Yosefe anasonkhanitsa zakudya zonse zokololedwa mʼzaka zisanu ndi ziwiri zija ndipo anazisunga mʼmizinda. Mu mzinda uliwonse anayikamo chakudya chimene chinalimidwa mʼminda yozungulira komweko. 49 Yosefe anasunga tirigu wochuluka kwambiri ngati mchenga wa ku nyanja. Kunali tirigu wochuluka kwambiri motero kuti analeka nʼkulembera komwe.
50 Zisanafike zaka zanjala, Yosefe anabereka ana aamuna awiri mwa Asenati mwana wa mkazi wa Potifara, wansembe wa Oni. 51 Yosefe anamutcha mwana wake woyamba, Manase popeza anati, “Mulungu wandiyiwalitsa zovuta zanga zija ndiponso banja la abambo anga.” 52 Mwana wachiwiri wa mwamuna anamutcha Efereimu popeza anati, “Mulungu wandipatsa ana mʼdziko la masautso anga.”
53 Zaka zisanu ndi ziwiri za zokolola zochuluka zija zinatha, 54 ndipo zaka zisanu ndi ziwiri za njala zija zinayamba monga ananenera Yosefe. Njalayi inafika ku mayiko ena onse koma ku dziko lonse la Igupto kunali chakudya. 55 Pamene njala ija inakwanira dziko lonse la Igupto anthu analilira Farao kuti awapatse chakudya. Koma Farao anawawuza kuti, “Pitani kwa Yosefe ndipo mukachite zimene akakuwuzeni.”
56 Pamene njala inafalikira dziko lonse, Yosefe anatsekula nkhokwe za zakudya namagulitsa tirigu kwa anthu a ku Igupto aja, pakuti njala inafika poyipa kwambiri mu Igupto monse. 57 Anthu ankabwera ku Igupto kuchokera ku mayiko ena onse kudzagula tirigu kwa Yosefe, chifukwa njala inafika poyipa kwambiri pa dziko lonse lapansi.
