弟兄重逢
33 雅各遠遠看見以掃帶著四百人迎面而來，便把孩子們分別交給利亞、拉結和兩個婢女， 2 又吩咐兩個婢女和她們的孩子走在前面，利亞和她的孩子跟在後面，拉結和約瑟走在最後。 3 他自己則走在他們前面，接連俯伏下拜七次，直到他哥哥跟前。
4 以掃見到雅各，就跑上去擁抱他，親吻他，二人抱頭痛哭。 5 以掃看見跟在雅各後面的婦女和孩子，就問：「這些和你同行的是誰？」雅各說：「這些孩子是上帝施恩賜給你僕人的。」 6 雅各的兩個婢女和她們的孩子上前下拜， 7 利亞也和她的孩子上前下拜，最後約瑟和拉結也上前向以掃下拜。
8 以掃說：「我在路上遇見的那一群群牲畜是怎麼回事？」雅各回答說：「我帶來這些是要得到我主的恩待。」 9 以掃說：「弟弟，我已經有很多了，你自己留著吧！」 10 雅各說：「不，你若賞臉，就請收下！我見了你的面就像見了上帝的面，因為你這樣善侍我。 11 請你收下我的禮物吧，因為上帝恩待了我，使我富足。」雅各再三懇求，以掃才收下。
12 以掃說：「我們走吧！我陪你們走。」 13 雅各卻說：「我主知道孩子們還小，而且，我還要照料正在哺乳的牛羊，如果整天趕路，牛羊會累死。 14 倒不如請我主先走，我遷就牲畜和孩子慢慢走，我在西珥與我主會合。」
15 以掃說：「讓我給你留幾個幫手吧。」雅各說：「不用了，能得到我主的恩待就夠了。」 16 於是，以掃在當天先回西珥去了， 17 雅各卻去了疏割，在那裡為自己建造房屋，為牲畜搭起棚子。因此那地方叫疏割[a]。
18 這樣，雅各從巴旦·亞蘭平安地回到迦南的示劍城，在城外搭營居住。 19 他搭營居住的這塊地是他用一百塊銀子向示劍的父親哈抹的子孫買的。 20 雅各在那裡築了一座壇，稱之為伊利·伊羅伊·以色列[b]。

Reconciliación entre Jacob y Esaú
33 Alzando Jacob sus ojos, miró, y he aquí venía Esaú, y los cuatrocientos hombres con él; entonces repartió él los niños entre Lea y Raquel y las dos siervas. 2 Y puso las siervas y sus niños delante, luego a Lea y sus niños, y a Raquel y a José los últimos. 3 Y él pasó delante de ellos y se inclinó a tierra siete veces, hasta que llegó a su hermano. 4 Pero Esaú corrió a su encuentro y le abrazó, y se echó sobre su cuello, y le besó; y lloraron. 5 Y alzó sus ojos y vio a las mujeres y los niños, y dijo: ¿Quiénes son estos? Y él respondió: Son los niños que Dios ha dado a tu siervo. 6 Luego vinieron las siervas, ellas y sus niños, y se inclinaron. 7 Y vino Lea con sus niños, y se inclinaron; y después llegó José y Raquel, y también se inclinaron. 8 Y Esaú dijo: ¿Qué te propones con todos estos grupos que he encontrado? Y Jacob respondió: El hallar gracia en los ojos de mi señor. 9 Y dijo Esaú: Suficiente tengo yo, hermano mío; sea para ti lo que es tuyo. 10 Y dijo Jacob: No, yo te ruego; si he hallado ahora gracia en tus ojos, acepta mi presente, porque he visto tu rostro, como si hubiera visto el rostro de Dios, pues que con tanto favor me has recibido. 11 Acepta, te ruego, mi presente que te he traído, porque Dios me ha hecho merced, y todo lo que hay aquí es mío. E insistió con él, y Esaú lo tomó. 12 Y Esaú dijo: Anda, vamos; y yo iré delante de ti. 13 Y Jacob le dijo: Mi señor sabe que los niños son tiernos, y que tengo ovejas y vacas paridas; y si las fatigan, en un día morirán todas las ovejas. 14 Pase ahora mi señor delante de su siervo, y yo me iré poco a poco al paso del ganado que va delante de mí, y al paso de los niños, hasta que llegue a mi señor a Seir. 15 Y Esaú dijo: Dejaré ahora contigo de la gente que viene conmigo. Y Jacob dijo: ¿Para qué esto? Halle yo gracia en los ojos de mi señor. 16 Así volvió Esaú aquel día por su camino a Seir. 17 Y Jacob fue a Sucot, y edificó allí casa para sí, e hizo cabañas para su ganado; por tanto, llamó el nombre de aquel lugar Sucot.[a]
18 Después Jacob llegó sano y salvo a la ciudad de Siquem, que está en la tierra de Canaán, cuando venía de Padan-aram; y acampó delante de la ciudad. 19 Y compró una parte del campo,(A) donde plantó su tienda, de mano de los hijos de Hamor padre de Siquem, por cien monedas.[b] 20 Y erigió allí un altar, y lo llamó El-Elohe-Israel.[c]

Jacob Meets Esau
33 Jacob looked up and there was Esau, coming with his four hundred men;(A) so he divided the children among Leah, Rachel and the two female servants.(B) 2 He put the female servants and their children(C) in front, Leah and her children next, and Rachel and Joseph(D) in the rear. 3 He himself went on ahead and bowed down to the ground(E) seven times(F) as he approached his brother.
4 But Esau(G) ran to meet Jacob and embraced him; he threw his arms around his neck and kissed him.(H) And they wept.(I) 5 Then Esau looked up and saw the women and children. “Who are these with you?” he asked.
Jacob answered, “They are the children God has graciously given your servant.(J)”
6 Then the female servants and their children(K) approached and bowed down.(L) 7 Next, Leah and her children(M) came and bowed down.(N) Last of all came Joseph and Rachel,(O) and they too bowed down.
8 Esau asked, “What’s the meaning of all these flocks and herds I met?”(P)
“To find favor in your eyes, my lord,”(Q) he said.
9 But Esau said, “I already have plenty,(R) my brother. Keep what you have for yourself.”
10 “No, please!” said Jacob. “If I have found favor in your eyes,(S) accept this gift(T) from me. For to see your face is like seeing the face of God,(U) now that you have received me favorably.(V) 11 Please accept the present(W) that was brought to you, for God has been gracious to me(X) and I have all I need.”(Y) And because Jacob insisted,(Z) Esau accepted it.
12 Then Esau said, “Let us be on our way; I’ll accompany you.”
13 But Jacob said to him, “My lord(AA) knows that the children are tender and that I must care for the ewes and cows that are nursing their young.(AB) If they are driven hard just one day, all the animals will die. 14 So let my lord go on ahead of his servant, while I move along slowly at the pace of the flocks and herds(AC) before me and the pace of the children, until I come to my lord in Seir.(AD)”
15 Esau said, “Then let me leave some of my men with you.”
“But why do that?” Jacob asked. “Just let me find favor in the eyes of my lord.”(AE)
16 So that day Esau started on his way back to Seir.(AF) 17 Jacob, however, went to Sukkoth,(AG) where he built a place for himself and made shelters for his livestock. That is why the place is called Sukkoth.[a]
18 After Jacob came from Paddan Aram,[b](AH) he arrived safely at the city of Shechem(AI) in Canaan and camped within sight of the city. 19 For a hundred pieces of silver,[c] he bought from the sons of Hamor,(AJ) the father of Shechem,(AK) the plot of ground(AL) where he pitched his tent.(AM) 20 There he set up an altar(AN) and called it El Elohe Israel.[d]

33 And Jacob lifted up his eyes, and looked, and, behold, Esau came, and with him four hundred men. And he divided the children unto Leah, and unto Rachel, and unto the two handmaids.
2 And he put the handmaids and their children foremost, and Leah and her children after, and Rachel and Joseph hindermost.
3 And he passed over before them, and bowed himself to the ground seven times, until he came near to his brother.
4 And Esau ran to meet him, and embraced him, and fell on his neck, and kissed him: and they wept.
5 And he lifted up his eyes, and saw the women and the children; and said, Who are those with thee? And he said, The children which God hath graciously given thy servant.
6 Then the handmaidens came near, they and their children, and they bowed themselves.
7 And Leah also with her children came near, and bowed themselves: and after came Joseph near and Rachel, and they bowed themselves.
8 And he said, What meanest thou by all this drove which I met? And he said, These are to find grace in the sight of my lord.
9 And Esau said, I have enough, my brother; keep that thou hast unto thyself.
10 And Jacob said, Nay, I pray thee, if now I have found grace in thy sight, then receive my present at my hand: for therefore I have seen thy face, as though I had seen the face of God, and thou wast pleased with me.
11 Take, I pray thee, my blessing that is brought to thee; because God hath dealt graciously with me, and because I have enough. And he urged him, and he took it.
12 And he said, Let us take our journey, and let us go, and I will go before thee.
13 And he said unto him, My lord knoweth that the children are tender, and the flocks and herds with young are with me: and if men should overdrive them one day, all the flock will die.
14 Let my lord, I pray thee, pass over before his servant: and I will lead on softly, according as the cattle that goeth before me and the children be able to endure, until I come unto my lord unto Seir.
15 And Esau said, Let me now leave with thee some of the folk that are with me. And he said, What needeth it? let me find grace in the sight of my lord.
16 So Esau returned that day on his way unto Seir.
17 And Jacob journeyed to Succoth, and built him an house, and made booths for his cattle: therefore the name of the place is called Succoth.
18 And Jacob came to Shalem, a city of Shechem, which is in the land of Canaan, when he came from Padanaram; and pitched his tent before the city.
19 And he bought a parcel of a field, where he had spread his tent, at the hand of the children of Hamor, Shechem's father, for an hundred pieces of money.
20 And he erected there an altar, and called it EleloheIsrael.

4 (C)But Esau ran to meet him, and embraced him, (D)and fell on his neck and kissed him, and they wept. 5 And he lifted his eyes and saw the women and children, and said, “Who are these with you?”
So he said, “The children (E)whom God has graciously given your servant.” 6 Then the maidservants came near, they and their children, and bowed down. 7 And Leah also came near with her children, and they bowed down. Afterward Joseph and Rachel came near, and they bowed down.
8 Then Esau said, “What do you mean by (F)all this company which I met?”
And he said, “These are (G)to find favor in the sight of my lord.”
9 But Esau said, “I have enough, my brother; keep what you have for yourself.”
10 And Jacob said, “No, please, if I have now found favor in your sight, then receive my present from my hand, inasmuch as I (H)have seen your face as though I had seen the face of God, and you were pleased with me. 11 Please, take (I)my blessing that is brought to you, because God has dealt (J)graciously with me, and because I have [a]enough.” (K)So he urged him, and he took it.
12 Then Esau said, “Let us take our journey; let us go, and I will go before you.”
13 But Jacob said to him, “My lord knows that the children are weak, and the flocks and herds which are nursing are with me. And if the men should drive them hard one day, all the flock will die. 14 Please let my lord go on ahead before his servant. I will lead on slowly at a pace which the livestock that go before me, and the children, [b]are able to endure, until I come to my lord (L)in Seir.”
15 And Esau said, “Now let me leave with you some of the people who are with me.”
But he said, “What need is there? (M)Let me find favor in the sight of my lord.” 16 So Esau returned that day on his way to Seir. 17 And Jacob journeyed to (N)Succoth, built himself a house, and made [c]booths for his livestock. Therefore the name of the place is called [d]Succoth.
Jacob Comes to Canaan
