⁴雅各問牧人：「弟兄們，你們是從哪裡來的？」他們說：「我們是從哈蘭來的。」 ⁵雅各問道：「你們認識拿鶴的孫子拉班嗎？」他們說：「我們認識。」 ⁶雅各又問：「他好嗎？」他們回答說：「很好。你看，他的女兒拉結帶著羊群來了。」

⁴Jacob asked the shepherds, “My brothers, where are you from?”^(A)

“We’re from Harran,^(B)” they replied.

⁵He said to them, “Do you know Laban, Nahor’s grandson?”^(C)

“Yes, we know him,” they answered.

⁶Then Jacob asked them, “Is he well?”

“Yes, he is,” they said, “and here comes his daughter Rachel^(D) with the sheep.^(E)”

⁴And Jacob said unto them, My brethren, whence be ye? And they said, Of Haran are we.

⁵And he said unto them, Know ye Laban the son of Nahor? And they said, We know him.

⁶And he said unto them, Is he well? And they said, He is well: and, behold, Rachel his daughter cometh with the sheep.
