9 耶和华的使者对她说：“你回到你主母那里，服在她手下。” 10 又说：“我必使你的后裔极其繁多，甚至不可胜数。” 11 并说：“你如今怀孕要生一个儿子，可以给他起名叫以实玛利[a]，因为耶和华听见了你的苦情。 12 他为人必像野驴，他的手要攻打人，人的手也要攻打他。他必住在众弟兄的东边。” 13 夏甲就称那对她说话的耶和华为“看顾人的神”，因而说：“在这里我也看见那看顾我的吗？” 14 所以这井名叫庇耳拉海莱。这井正在加低斯和巴列中间。
15 后来夏甲给亚伯兰生了一个儿子，亚伯兰给他起名叫以实玛利。 16 夏甲给亚伯兰生以实玛利的时候，亚伯兰年八十六岁。

9 耶和華的天使對她說：「你要回到女主人那裡順服她。」 10 又說：「我必使你的後代多得不可勝數。」 11 接著又說：「你現在懷了孕，將來會生一個男孩，你要給他取名叫以實瑪利[a]，因為耶和華已經聽見你痛苦的哀聲。 12 這孩子性情必像野驢，他要跟人作對，人也要跟他作對。他必與他所有的弟兄為敵。」 13 夏甲稱對她說話的耶和華為「看顧人的上帝」，她說：「我竟然在這裡看見了看顧我的上帝。」 14 因此，她稱加低斯和巴列之間的那口井為庇耳·拉海·萊[b]。
15 後來夏甲為亞伯蘭生了一個兒子，亞伯蘭給他取名叫以實瑪利。 16 夏甲生以實瑪利時，亞伯蘭八十六歲。

9 Then the angel of the Lord told her, “Go back to your mistress and submit to her.” 10 The angel added, “I will increase your descendants so much that they will be too numerous to count.”(A)
11 The angel of the Lord(B) also said to her:
“You are now pregnant
and you will give birth to a son.(C)
You shall name him(D) Ishmael,[a](E)
for the Lord has heard of your misery.(F)
12 He will be a wild donkey(G) of a man;
his hand will be against everyone
and everyone’s hand against him,
and he will live in hostility
toward[b] all his brothers.(H)”
13 She gave this name to the Lord who spoke to her: “You are the God who sees me,(I)” for she said, “I have now seen[c] the One who sees me.”(J) 14 That is why the well(K) was called Beer Lahai Roi[d];(L) it is still there, between Kadesh(M) and Bered.
15 So Hagar(N) bore Abram a son,(O) and Abram gave the name Ishmael(P) to the son she had borne. 16 Abram was eighty-six years old(Q) when Hagar bore him Ishmael.
