순종에 대한 축복
26 “너희는 우상을 만들어서는 안 된다. 새겨서 만든 것이든 기둥을 세워서 만든 것이든 돌을 다듬어 만든 것이든 그 어떤 신상도 만들지 말고 그것에 절하지 말아라. 나는 너희 하나님 여호와이다.
2 “너희는 나의 안식일을 잘 지키고 내 성소를 소중히 여겨라. 나는 여호와이다.
3 “만일 너희가 내 법에 따라 살고 내 명령에 순종하면
4 내가 너희에게 제때에 비를 주어 땅이 풍성한 작물을 내고 나무가 많은 과일을 맺도록 하겠다.
5 그러면 너희가 포도를 딸 때까지 추수할 것이며 다시 파종할 때까지 포도를 따낼 것이다. 그리고 너희는 무엇이나 배불리 먹을 것이며 그 땅에서 안전하게 살 수 있을 것이다.
6 내가 너희 땅에 평화를 주겠다. 너희는 안심하고 잠잘 수 있을 것이다. 또 내가 사나운 짐승을 쫓아내고 그 땅에 전쟁이 없게 하겠다.
7 너희가 대적을 추격할 것이며 그들이 너희 칼에 쓰러질 것이다.
8 너희 다섯이 백을, 너희 백이 만을 쫓을 것이니 너희 대적들이 너희 앞에서 칼날에 쓰러질 것이다.
9 내가 너희를 보살피고 너희를 번성하게 하여 너희와 맺은 계약을 반드시 지키겠다.
10 너희는 추수한 곡식이 너무 많아 새 곡식이 나면 묵은 곡식을 버리게 될 것이다.
11 그리고 내가 너희 가운데 살며 너희를 버리지 않고
12 너희와 함께하여 나는 너희 하나님이 되고 너희는 내 백성이 될 것이다.
13 나는 너희가 더 이상 종살이하지 않도록 너희를 이집트에서 인도해 낸 너희 하나님 여호와이다. 내가 너희 멍에를 꺾어 버리고 너희를 바로 서서 걷게 하였다.”
불순종에 대한 형벌
14 “그러나 만일 너희가 내 말을 듣지 않고 내 명령을 지키지 않으며
15 나의 법과 규정을 무시하고 나와 맺은 계약을 어기면
16 내가 급작스런 공포와 폐병과 열병으로 너희를 벌하겠다. 너희 눈이 어두워지고 너희 생명이 쇠약해질 것이며 너희가 씨를 뿌려도 너희 원수가 먹을 것이므로 아무 소용이 없을 것이다.
17 또 내가 너희를 칠 것이니 너희가 너희 대적에게 패할 것이며 너희를 미워하는 자가 너희를 지배할 것이요, 추적하는 자가 없어도 너희가 도망할 것이다.
18 “그래도 너희가 나에게 불순종하면 내가 너희 벌을 칠 배나 더하여
19 너희 교만을 꺾고 [a]하늘을 닫아 비를 내리지 않을 것이며 너희 땅을 철과 같이 굳어지게 할 것이다.
20 그러면 너희 수고가 헛될 것이며 너희 땅에는 농산물이 자라지 못하고 나무가 열매를 맺지 못할 것이다.
21 “만일 너희가 여전히 버티고 나에게 순종하지 않으면 내가 너희 죄에 대하여 칠 배나 더 무서운 재앙을 내리겠다.
22 내가 사나운 짐승을 보낼 것이니 그 짐승들이 너희 자녀를 물어 죽이고 너희 가축을 해칠 것이며 너희 인구는 대폭 줄어들어 거리마저 한산하게 될 것이다.
23 “너희가 이런 일을 당하고도 나에게 돌아오지 않고 계속 나에게 대항하면
24 나도 너희와 맞설 것이며 너희 죄에 대하여 전보다 칠 배나 더 가혹하게 벌하겠다.
25 내가 너희 땅에 전쟁을 일으켜 내 계약을 어긴 너희 죄에 대하여 보복할 것이며 너희가 성으로 도망갈지라도 내가 그 가운데 무서운 전염병을 보내고 너희를 원수의 손에 넘길 것이다.
26 그리고 내가 너희에게 양식을 끊을 때 열 여인이 한 화덕에서 빵을 구워 조금씩 떼어 줄 것이며 너희가 먹어도 배부르지 않을 것이다.
27 “너희가 이런 꼴을 당하고도 여전히 나에게 순종하지 않고 반항하면
28 내가 다시 무서운 진노로 너희를 대적하여 전보다 칠 배나 더한 벌을 내릴 것이니
29 너무 배가 고파 너희가 자식까지 잡아 먹게 될 것이다.
30 또 내가 너희 우상 신전을 헐어 버리고 너희 향단을 찍어 버리며 너희 시체를 그 위에 던지고 너희를 지긋지긋하게 여길 것이다.
31 그리고 내가 너희 성들을 폐허로 만들 것이며 너희 예배처를 헐고 너희 제사를 받지 않을 것이다.
32 내가 너희 땅을 황폐하게 할 것이므로 그 땅을 점령해서 사는 너희 원수들이 내가 너희에게 행한 일을 보고 놀랄 것이다.
33 내가 너희에게 전쟁을 일으켜 너희를 외국 땅에 흩어 버리겠다. 너희 땅은 황폐하고 너희 성들은 폐허로 변할 것이다.
34-35 그러면 결국 너희가 놀리지 않은 그 땅 이 자동적으로 쉬게 될 것이다. 이것은 너희가 외국 땅에서 포로 생활을 하는 동안 너희 땅이 황무지가 될 것이기 때문이다. 그러므로 안식년에 쉬지 못한 그 땅은 이때 쉬게 될 것이다.
36 “그리고 살아 남은 자들에 대해서는 끊임없는 두려움으로 내가 그들의 마음을 약하게 하겠다. 그들은 바람에 흔들리는 나뭇잎 소리에도 놀라 칼날을 피해 도망가는 자처럼 달아날 것이며 쫓는 자가 없어도 엎드러질 것이다.
37 그들은 추적하는 자가 없어도 전쟁에서 도망하는 자들처럼 달아나다가 서로 걸려 넘어질 것이다. 그들에게는 대적을 당해 낼 힘이 없을 것이다.
38 결국 너희는 외국 땅에서 죽을 것이며 너희 대적의 땅이 너희를 삼킬 것이다.
39 그리고 대적의 땅에서 살아 남은 자들은 그들의 죄와 그 조상의 죄 때문에 쇠잔할 것이다.
40-41 “그러나 만일 그들이 나를 거역하고 배반한 그들의 죄와 그 조상들의 죄를 고백하며 또 그들이 나에게 대항한 죄 때문에 원수의 땅에 끌려간 사실을 깨닫고 그들의 교만하고 악한 마음이 낮아지고 겸손하여 내가 내리는 형벌을 그들의 죄에 대한 당연한 대가로 여기고 뉘우치면
42 내가 아브라함과 이삭과 야곱에게 한 나의 약속을 기억하고 그들의 땅을 다시 돌아보겠다.
43 그렇지만 그들이 내 법을 거절하고 내 명령을 무시하였으므로 그 땅은 사람이 없이 황폐하여 안식을 누릴 것이며 그들은 자기들의 죄에 대한 형벌을 일단 받아야 할 것이다.
44 비록 그들이 죄는 지었지만 그들이 원수의 땅에 있을 때 내가 그들을 아주 저버리거나 멸망시키지는 않을 것이며 그들과 맺은 내 계약도 어기지 않을 것이다. 이것은 내가 그들의 하나님 여호와이기 때문이다.
45 내가 그들의 하나님이 되려고 여러 민족들이 지켜 보는 가운데 이집트에서 인도해 낸 그들의 조상들과 맺은 계약을 기억하겠다. 나는 여호와이다.”
46 이상은 여호와께서 모세를 통하여 시내산에서 이스라엘 백성에게 주신 여러 가지 법과 규정과 지시 사항이다.

26 “你们不可为自己制造偶像，不可竖立神像和神柱，也不可在你们境内安放祭拜用的石像。我是你们的上帝耶和华。 2 你们要守我的安息日，敬畏我的圣所。我是耶和华。 3 如果你们遵行我的律例，持守我的诫命， 4 我就按时降雨给你们，使土地长出庄稼、果树结出果实。 5 你们要打粮食打到摘葡萄的时候，摘葡萄摘到播种的时候。你们必丰衣足食，安然居住。
6 “我要使你们得享太平，安枕无忧。我要除掉你们境内的猛兽，也要使你们免遭刀剑之灾。 7 你们将追赶仇敌，使他们倒在你们刀下。 8 你们五人要追赶一百人，一百人要追赶一万人，他们必死在你们刀下。 9 我要眷顾你们，使你们生养众多，也要坚守与你们所立的约。 10 你们存粮很多，甚至要搬出陈粮来储存新粮。 11 我要住在你们中间，我必不厌弃你们。 12 我要在你们中间往来。我要做你们的上帝，你们要做我的子民。 13 我是你们的上帝耶和华。我曾带领你们离开埃及，使你们不再做埃及人的奴隶。我打碎了压在你们身上的重轭，使你们能昂首挺胸、扬眉吐气。
违背诫命受惩罚
14 “如果你们不听从我，不遵行我的这一切诫命； 15 如果你们拒绝遵守我的律例，厌弃我的典章，不听从我的命令，破坏我与你们所立的约， 16 我要惩罚你们，使你们陷入恐慌、患痨病和热症，使你们眼睛昏花、心力衰竭。你们撒种却一无所获，因为敌人要吃尽你们所种的。 17 我要严惩你们，使你们败在敌人手下；你们要被那些恨你们的人统治，即使没有人追赶，你们也要逃命。
18 “如果你们受过这些惩罚，仍然不知悔改，我要把比先前严厉七倍的惩罚加在你们身上。 19 我要重挫你们的傲气，使你们头上的天如铁，脚下的地如铜。 20 你们劳作也是徒然，因为你们的土地必不长庄稼，果树也不结果实。
21 “如果你们仍然与我作对，不肯听从我，我要把比先前严重七倍的灾难降在你们身上。 22 我要让野兽残害你们的子女，吞噬你们的牲畜，使你们人口锐减，路上杳无人迹。
23 “如果你们还是与我作对， 24 我也要与你们作对，用比先前严重七倍的灾难击打你们。 25 因为你们毁约，我要用战祸报应你们。你们躲进各城的时候，我要在你们中间降下瘟疫，使你们落在敌人手里。 26 我要断绝你们的粮源。那时候，十个妇女将用一个烤炉烤饼，按定量分饼给你们，你们吃却吃不饱。
27 “如果你们仍然不肯听从我，继续与我作对， 28 我也要与你们作对，向你们发烈怒，把比先前严厉七倍的惩罚加在你们身上。 29 你们要吃自己儿女的肉。 30 我要毁灭你们的丘坛，拆掉你们的香坛，把你们的尸体堆在你们毫无气息的神像上。我厌恶你们。 31 我要使你们的城邑沦为废墟，使你们的敬拜场所荒凉，也不再悦纳你们的馨香之祭。 32 我要使你们的土地荒废，连占据那里的敌人也为此而震惊。 33 我要把你们驱散到各国，还要拔刀追杀你们。你们的土地将荒废，城邑将沦为废墟。 34 你们被掳到敌国的时候，你们的土地将荒废，享受安息。 35 你们住在那里的时候，没有在安息年让土地安息，因此土地在荒废的日子里将享受安息。
36 “我要使你们当中的那些幸存者在敌国心惊胆战，过着风声鹤唳、惶恐不安的生活。 37 即使无人追赶，他们也将仓皇逃命，互相绊倒，如同躲避刀剑一样。你们必无力抵挡敌人。 38 你们将葬身列国，死在敌人的土地上。 39 你们当中的幸存者将因自己的罪和祖先的罪而消亡在敌人的土地上。
认罪悔改蒙眷顾
40 “如果他们承认自己和祖先的罪，就是背叛我、与我作对的恶行—— 41 以致我与他们作对，把他们流放到敌国；如果他们顽固[a]的心谦卑下来，甘愿接受刑罚， 42 我便履行我与亚伯拉罕、以撒和雅各所立的约，眷顾那片土地。 43 土地被他们离弃，荒无人烟，得享安息。他们却要因拒绝遵守我的典章、厌弃我的律例而饱受惩罚。 44 然而，他们流落敌国的时候，我不会弃绝他们，不会因厌恶而毁灭他们，也不会违背我与他们所立的约。我是他们的上帝耶和华。 45 我必为他们的缘故履行我与他们祖先所立的约。我曾在列国面前带领他们的祖先离开埃及，为要做他们的上帝。我是耶和华。”
46 以上是耶和华借摩西在西奈山上颁布给以色列人的律例、典章和法度。

Reward for Obedience
26 “‘Do not make idols(A) or set up an image(B) or a sacred stone(C) for yourselves, and do not place a carved stone(D) in your land to bow down before it. I am the Lord your God.
2 “‘Observe my Sabbaths(E) and have reverence for my sanctuary.(F) I am the Lord.
3 “‘If you follow my decrees and are careful to obey(G) my commands, 4 I will send you rain(H) in its season,(I) and the ground will yield its crops and the trees their fruit.(J) 5 Your threshing will continue until grape harvest and the grape harvest will continue until planting, and you will eat all the food you want(K) and live in safety in your land.(L)
6 “‘I will grant peace in the land,(M) and you will lie down(N) and no one will make you afraid.(O) I will remove wild beasts(P) from the land, and the sword will not pass through your country. 7 You will pursue your enemies,(Q) and they will fall by the sword before you. 8 Five(R) of you will chase a hundred, and a hundred of you will chase ten thousand, and your enemies will fall by the sword before you.(S)
9 “‘I will look on you with favor and make you fruitful and increase your numbers,(T) and I will keep my covenant(U) with you. 10 You will still be eating last year’s harvest when you will have to move it out to make room for the new.(V) 11 I will put my dwelling place[a](W) among you, and I will not abhor you.(X) 12 I will walk(Y) among you and be your God,(Z) and you will be my people.(AA) 13 I am the Lord your God,(AB) who brought you out of Egypt(AC) so that you would no longer be slaves to the Egyptians; I broke the bars of your yoke(AD) and enabled you to walk with heads held high.
Punishment for Disobedience
14 “‘But if you will not listen to me and carry out all these commands,(AE) 15 and if you reject my decrees and abhor my laws(AF) and fail to carry out all my commands and so violate my covenant,(AG) 16 then I will do this to you: I will bring on you sudden terror, wasting diseases and fever(AH) that will destroy your sight and sap your strength.(AI) You will plant seed in vain, because your enemies will eat it.(AJ) 17 I will set my face(AK) against you so that you will be defeated(AL) by your enemies;(AM) those who hate you will rule over you,(AN) and you will flee even when no one is pursuing you.(AO)
18 “‘If after all this you will not listen to me,(AP) I will punish(AQ) you for your sins seven times over.(AR) 19 I will break down your stubborn pride(AS) and make the sky above you like iron and the ground beneath you like bronze.(AT) 20 Your strength will be spent in vain,(AU) because your soil will not yield its crops, nor will the trees of your land yield their fruit.(AV)
21 “‘If you remain hostile(AW) toward me and refuse to listen to me, I will multiply your afflictions seven times over,(AX) as your sins deserve. 22 I will send wild animals(AY) against you, and they will rob you of your children, destroy your cattle and make you so few(AZ) in number that your roads will be deserted.(BA)
23 “‘If in spite of these things you do not accept my correction(BB) but continue to be hostile toward me, 24 I myself will be hostile(BC) toward you and will afflict you for your sins seven times over. 25 And I will bring the sword(BD) on you to avenge(BE) the breaking of the covenant. When you withdraw into your cities, I will send a plague(BF) among you, and you will be given into enemy hands. 26 When I cut off your supply of bread,(BG) ten women will be able to bake your bread in one oven, and they will dole out the bread by weight. You will eat, but you will not be satisfied.
27 “‘If in spite of this you still do not listen to me(BH) but continue to be hostile toward me, 28 then in my anger(BI) I will be hostile(BJ) toward you, and I myself will punish you for your sins seven times over.(BK) 29 You will eat(BL) the flesh of your sons and the flesh of your daughters.(BM) 30 I will destroy your high places,(BN) cut down your incense altars(BO) and pile your dead bodies[b] on the lifeless forms of your idols,(BP) and I will abhor(BQ) you. 31 I will turn your cities into ruins(BR) and lay waste(BS) your sanctuaries,(BT) and I will take no delight in the pleasing aroma of your offerings.(BU) 32 I myself will lay waste the land,(BV) so that your enemies who live there will be appalled.(BW) 33 I will scatter(BX) you among the nations(BY) and will draw out my sword(BZ) and pursue you. Your land will be laid waste,(CA) and your cities will lie in ruins.(CB) 34 Then the land will enjoy its sabbath years all the time that it lies desolate(CC) and you are in the country of your enemies;(CD) then the land will rest and enjoy its sabbaths. 35 All the time that it lies desolate, the land will have the rest(CE) it did not have during the sabbaths you lived in it.
36 “‘As for those of you who are left, I will make their hearts so fearful in the lands of their enemies that the sound of a windblown leaf(CF) will put them to flight.(CG) They will run as though fleeing from the sword, and they will fall, even though no one is pursuing them.(CH) 37 They will stumble over one another(CI) as though fleeing from the sword, even though no one is pursuing them. So you will not be able to stand before your enemies.(CJ) 38 You will perish(CK) among the nations; the land of your enemies will devour you.(CL) 39 Those of you who are left will waste away in the lands of their enemies because of their sins; also because of their ancestors’(CM) sins they will waste away.(CN)
40 “‘But if they will confess(CO) their sins(CP) and the sins of their ancestors(CQ)—their unfaithfulness and their hostility toward me, 41 which made me hostile(CR) toward them so that I sent them into the land of their enemies—then when their uncircumcised hearts(CS) are humbled(CT) and they pay(CU) for their sin, 42 I will remember my covenant with Jacob(CV) and my covenant with Isaac(CW) and my covenant with Abraham,(CX) and I will remember the land. 43 For the land will be deserted(CY) by them and will enjoy its sabbaths while it lies desolate without them. They will pay for their sins because they rejected(CZ) my laws and abhorred my decrees.(DA) 44 Yet in spite of this, when they are in the land of their enemies,(DB) I will not reject them or abhor(DC) them so as to destroy them completely,(DD) breaking my covenant(DE) with them. I am the Lord their God. 45 But for their sake I will remember(DF) the covenant with their ancestors whom I brought out of Egypt(DG) in the sight of the nations to be their God. I am the Lord.’”
46 These are the decrees, the laws and the regulations that the Lord established at Mount Sinai(DH) between himself and the Israelites through Moses.(DI)

26 Ye shall make you no idols nor graven image, neither rear you up a standing image, neither shall ye set up any image of stone in your land, to bow down unto it: for I am the Lord your God.
2 Ye shall keep my sabbaths, and reverence my sanctuary: I am the Lord.
3 If ye walk in my statutes, and keep my commandments, and do them;
4 Then I will give you rain in due season, and the land shall yield her increase, and the trees of the field shall yield their fruit.
5 And your threshing shall reach unto the vintage, and the vintage shall reach unto the sowing time: and ye shall eat your bread to the full, and dwell in your land safely.
6 And I will give peace in the land, and ye shall lie down, and none shall make you afraid: and I will rid evil beasts out of the land, neither shall the sword go through your land.
7 And ye shall chase your enemies, and they shall fall before you by the sword.
8 And five of you shall chase an hundred, and an hundred of you shall put ten thousand to flight: and your enemies shall fall before you by the sword.
9 For I will have respect unto you, and make you fruitful, and multiply you, and establish my covenant with you.
10 And ye shall eat old store, and bring forth the old because of the new.
11 And I set my tabernacle among you: and my soul shall not abhor you.
12 And I will walk among you, and will be your God, and ye shall be my people.
13 I am the Lord your God, which brought you forth out of the land of Egypt, that ye should not be their bondmen; and I have broken the bands of your yoke, and made you go upright.
14 But if ye will not hearken unto me, and will not do all these commandments;
15 And if ye shall despise my statutes, or if your soul abhor my judgments, so that ye will not do all my commandments, but that ye break my covenant:
16 I also will do this unto you; I will even appoint over you terror, consumption, and the burning ague, that shall consume the eyes, and cause sorrow of heart: and ye shall sow your seed in vain, for your enemies shall eat it.
17 And I will set my face against you, and ye shall be slain before your enemies: they that hate you shall reign over you; and ye shall flee when none pursueth you.
18 And if ye will not yet for all this hearken unto me, then I will punish you seven times more for your sins.
19 And I will break the pride of your power; and I will make your heaven as iron, and your earth as brass:
20 And your strength shall be spent in vain: for your land shall not yield her increase, neither shall the trees of the land yield their fruits.
21 And if ye walk contrary unto me, and will not hearken unto me; I will bring seven times more plagues upon you according to your sins.
22 I will also send wild beasts among you, which shall rob you of your children, and destroy your cattle, and make you few in number; and your high ways shall be desolate.
23 And if ye will not be reformed by me by these things, but will walk contrary unto me;
24 Then will I also walk contrary unto you, and will punish you yet seven times for your sins.
25 And I will bring a sword upon you, that shall avenge the quarrel of my covenant: and when ye are gathered together within your cities, I will send the pestilence among you; and ye shall be delivered into the hand of the enemy.
26 And when I have broken the staff of your bread, ten women shall bake your bread in one oven, and they shall deliver you your bread again by weight: and ye shall eat, and not be satisfied.
27 And if ye will not for all this hearken unto me, but walk contrary unto me;
28 Then I will walk contrary unto you also in fury; and I, even I, will chastise you seven times for your sins.
29 And ye shall eat the flesh of your sons, and the flesh of your daughters shall ye eat.
30 And I will destroy your high places, and cut down your images, and cast your carcases upon the carcases of your idols, and my soul shall abhor you.
31 And I will make your cities waste, and bring your sanctuaries unto desolation, and I will not smell the savour of your sweet odours.
32 And I will bring the land into desolation: and your enemies which dwell therein shall be astonished at it.
33 And I will scatter you among the heathen, and will draw out a sword after you: and your land shall be desolate, and your cities waste.
34 Then shall the land enjoy her sabbaths, as long as it lieth desolate, and ye be in your enemies' land; even then shall the land rest, and enjoy her sabbaths.
35 As long as it lieth desolate it shall rest; because it did not rest in your sabbaths, when ye dwelt upon it.
36 And upon them that are left alive of you I will send a faintness into their hearts in the lands of their enemies; and the sound of a shaken leaf shall chase them; and they shall flee, as fleeing from a sword; and they shall fall when none pursueth.
37 And they shall fall one upon another, as it were before a sword, when none pursueth: and ye shall have no power to stand before your enemies.
38 And ye shall perish among the heathen, and the land of your enemies shall eat you up.
39 And they that are left of you shall pine away in their iniquity in your enemies' lands; and also in the iniquities of their fathers shall they pine away with them.
40 If they shall confess their iniquity, and the iniquity of their fathers, with their trespass which they trespassed against me, and that also they have walked contrary unto me;
41 And that I also have walked contrary unto them, and have brought them into the land of their enemies; if then their uncircumcised hearts be humbled, and they then accept of the punishment of their iniquity:
42 Then will I remember my covenant with Jacob, and also my covenant with Isaac, and also my covenant with Abraham will I remember; and I will remember the land.
43 The land also shall be left of them, and shall enjoy her sabbaths, while she lieth desolate without them: and they shall accept of the punishment of their iniquity: because, even because they despised my judgments, and because their soul abhorred my statutes.
44 And yet for all that, when they be in the land of their enemies, I will not cast them away, neither will I abhor them, to destroy them utterly, and to break my covenant with them: for I am the Lord their God.
45 But I will for their sakes remember the covenant of their ancestors, whom I brought forth out of the land of Egypt in the sight of the heathen, that I might be their God: I am the Lord.
46 These are the statutes and judgments and laws, which the Lord made between him and the children of Israel in mount Sinai by the hand of Moses.
