The Burnt Offering

The Lord summoned Moses and spoke to him from the tent of meeting, saying, “Speak to the Israelites and say to them: When any of you bring an offering of livestock to the Lord, you shall bring your offering from the herd or from the flock.(A)

“If the offering is a burnt offering from the herd, you shall offer a male without blemish; you shall bring it to the entrance of the tent of meeting, for acceptance on your behalf before the Lord.(B) You shall lay your hand on the head of the burnt offering, and it shall be acceptable on your behalf as atonement for you.(C) The bull shall be slaughtered before the Lord, and Aaron’s sons the priests shall offer the blood, dashing the blood against all sides of the altar that is at the entrance of the tent of meeting.(D) The burnt offering shall be flayed and cut up into its parts. The sons of the priest Aaron shall put fire on the altar and arrange wood on the fire.(E) Aaron’s sons the priests shall arrange the parts, with the head and the suet, on the wood that is on the fire on the altar, but its entrails and its legs shall be washed with water. Then the priest shall turn the rest into smoke on the altar as a burnt offering, an offering by fire[a] of pleasing odor to the Lord.(F)

10 “If your gift for a burnt offering is from the flock, from the sheep or goats, your offering shall be a male without blemish. 11 It shall be slaughtered on the north side of the altar before the Lord, and Aaron’s sons the priests shall dash its blood against all sides of the altar.(G) 12 It shall be cut up into its parts, with its head and its suet, and the priest shall arrange them on the wood that is on the fire on the altar, 13 but the entrails and the legs shall be washed with water. Then the priest shall offer the rest and turn it into smoke on the altar; it is a burnt offering, an offering by fire[b] of pleasing odor to the Lord.

14 “If your offering to the Lord is a burnt offering of birds, you shall choose your offering from turtledoves or pigeons.(H) 15 The priest shall bring it to the altar and wring off its head and turn it into smoke on the altar, and its blood shall be drained out against the side of the altar.(I) 16 He shall remove its entrails close to its tail feathers and throw it at the east side of the altar, in the place for ashes.(J) 17 He shall tear it open by its wings without severing it. Then the priest shall turn it into smoke on the altar, on the wood that is on the fire; it is a burnt offering, an offering by fire[c] of pleasing odor to the Lord.(K)

燔祭之例

耶和華從會幕中呼叫摩西,對他說: 「你曉諭以色列人說:你們中間若有人獻供物給耶和華,要從牛群羊群中獻牲畜為供物。

「他的供物若以牛為燔祭,就要在會幕門口獻一隻沒有殘疾的公牛,可以在耶和華面前蒙悅納。 他要按手在燔祭牲的頭上,燔祭便蒙悅納,為他贖罪。 他要在耶和華面前宰公牛。亞倫子孫做祭司的,要奉上血,把血灑在會幕門口壇的周圍。 那人要剝去燔祭牲的皮,把燔祭牲切成塊子。 祭司亞倫的子孫要把火放在壇上,把柴擺在火上。 亞倫子孫做祭司的,要把肉塊和頭並脂油擺在壇上火的柴上。 但燔祭的臟腑與腿,要用水洗。祭司就要把一切全燒在壇上,當做燔祭,獻於耶和華為馨香的火祭。

10 「人的供物若以綿羊或山羊為燔祭,就要獻上沒有殘疾的公羊。 11 要把羊宰於壇的北邊,在耶和華面前。亞倫子孫做祭司的,要把羊血灑在壇的周圍。 12 要把燔祭牲切成塊子,連頭和脂油,祭司就要擺在壇上火的柴上。 13 但臟腑與腿,要用水洗。祭司就要全然奉獻,燒在壇上。這是燔祭,是獻於耶和華為馨香的火祭。

14 「人奉給耶和華的供物,若以鳥為燔祭,就要獻斑鳩或是雛鴿為供物。 15 祭司要把鳥拿到壇前,揪下頭來,把鳥燒在壇上,鳥的血要流在壇的旁邊。 16 又要把鳥的嗉子和髒物[a]除掉,丟在壇的東邊倒灰的地方。 17 要拿著鳥的兩個翅膀把鳥撕開,只是不可撕斷。祭司要在壇上,在火的柴上焚燒。這是燔祭,是獻於耶和華為馨香的火祭。

Burnt Offerings of Cattle

“If you bring a burnt offering from your cattle, you must offer a male that has no defects. Offer it at the entrance to the tent of meeting so that the Lord will accept you. Place your hand on the animal’s head. The burnt offering will be accepted to make peace with the Lord. Then slaughter the bull in the Lord’s presence. Aaron’s sons, the priests, will offer the blood. They will throw it against all sides of the altar that is at the entrance to the tent of meeting. Skin the burnt offering, and cut it into pieces. Then the sons of the priest Aaron will start a fire on the altar and lay the wood on the fire. Aaron’s sons, the priests, will also lay the pieces, the head, and the fat on top of the wood burning on the altar. Wash the internal organs and legs. Then the priest will burn all of it on the altar. It is a burnt offering, an offering by fire, a soothing aroma to the Lord.

Burnt Offerings of Sheep or Goats

10 “If your offering is a sheep or goat, you must bring a male that has no defects. 11 Slaughter it in the Lord’s presence on the north side of the altar. Aaron’s sons, the priests, will throw the blood against the altar on all sides. 12 Then cut it into pieces. The priest will lay the head and the fat on the wood burning on the altar. 13 Wash the internal organs and legs. Then the priest will burn all of it on the altar. It is a burnt offering, an offering by fire, a soothing aroma to the Lord.

Burnt Offerings of Birds

14 “If your offering to the Lord is a bird, you must sacrifice a mourning dove or pigeon. 15 The priest must bring it to the altar. He will break its neck and burn the bird on the altar. First, he will drain the blood against the side of the altar. 16 Remove the gizzard with its filth and throw it on the east side of the altar on the place for the ashes. 17 Then pull on the bird’s wings to tear the bird open, but don’t pull the wings off. Then the priest will lay the bird on the wood burning on the altar. It is a burnt offering, an offering by fire, a soothing aroma to the Lord.”
