⁷ I will establish My covenant between Me and you and your ^[a]descendants after you throughout their generations as an ^(A)everlasting covenant, ^(B)to be God to you and ^(C)to your ^[b]descendants after you.

⁹ God said further to Abraham, “Now as for you, ^(A)you shall keep My covenant, you and your ^[a]descendants after you throughout their generations. ^10 (B)This is My covenant, which you shall keep, between Me and you and your ^[b]descendants after you: every male among you shall be circumcised. ¹¹ And ^(C)you shall be circumcised in the flesh of your foreskin, and it shall be the sign of the covenant between Me and you.

³⁸ Peter said to them, “^(A)Repent, and each of you be ^(B)baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. ³⁹ For ^(C)the promise is for you and your children and for all who are ^(D)far away, as many as the Lord our God will call to Himself.”

³² And they spoke the word of God to him together with all who were in his house. ³³ And he took them ^(A)that very hour of the night and washed their wounds, and immediately he was baptized, he and all his household.

¹⁶ Now why do you delay? ^(A)Get up and be baptized, and ^(B)wash away your sins by ^(C)calling on His name.’

³ Or do you not know that all of us who have been ^(A)baptized into ^(B)Christ Jesus have been baptized into His death? ⁴ Therefore we have been ^(C)buried with Him through baptism into death, so that, just as Christ was ^(D)raised from the dead through the ^(E)glory of the Father, so we too may walk in ^(F)newness of life.

¹⁷ What I am saying is this: the Law, which came ^(A)430 years later, does not invalidate a covenant previously ratified by God, so as to nullify the promise.

¹⁸ For ^(A)if the inheritance is ^[a]based on law, it is no longer ^[b]based on a promise; but ^(B)God has granted it to Abraham by means of a promise.

²⁹ And if ^(A)you ^[a]belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s ^[b]descendants, heirs according to ^(B)promise.
