The Flood Subsides
8 But (A)God remembered Noah and all the animals and all the livestock that were with him in the ark; and (B)God caused a wind to pass over the earth, and the water subsided. 2 Also (C)the fountains of the deep and the [a]floodgates of the sky were closed, and (D)the rain from the sky was restrained; 3 and the water receded steadily from the earth, and at the end (E)of 150 days the water decreased. 4 Then in the seventh month, on the seventeenth day of the month, (F)the ark rested upon the mountains of Ararat. 5 And the water decreased steadily until the tenth month; in the tenth month, on the first day of the month, the tops of the mountains became visible.
6 Then it came about at the end of forty days, that Noah opened the (G)window of the ark which he had made; 7 and he sent out a raven, and it [b]flew here and there until the water was dried up [c]from the earth. 8 Then he sent out a [d]dove, to see if the water was low on the [e]surface of the land; 9 but the dove found no resting place for the sole of its foot, so it returned to him in the ark, for the water was on the [f]surface of all the earth. Then he put out his hand and took it, and brought it into the ark to himself. 10 So he waited another seven days longer; and again he sent out the dove from the ark. 11 And the dove came to him in [g]the evening, and behold, in its [h]beak was a fresh olive leaf. So Noah knew that the water was low on the earth. 12 Then he waited another seven days longer, and sent out (H)the dove; but it did not return to him again.
13 Now it came about in the (I)six hundred and first year, in the first month, on the first of the month, that the water was dried up [i]from the earth. Then Noah removed the covering of the ark, and looked, and behold, the [j]surface of the ground had dried up. 14 And in the second month, on the twenty-seventh day of the month, the earth was dry. 15 Then God spoke to Noah, saying, 16 “Go out of the ark, you and your wife and your sons and your sons’ wives with you. 17 Bring out with you every living thing of all flesh that is with you, birds and animals and every crawling thing that crawls on the earth, that they may [k](J)breed abundantly on the earth, and (K)be fruitful and multiply on the earth.” 18 So Noah went out, and his sons and his wife, and his sons’ wives with him. 19 Every animal, every crawling thing, and every bird, everything that moves on the earth, went out [l]by their families from the ark.
20 Then Noah built (L)an altar to the Lord, and took some of every kind of (M)clean animal and some of every clean bird and offered (N)burnt offerings on the altar. 21 The Lord (O)smelled the soothing aroma, and the Lord said [m]to Himself, “I will never again (P)curse the ground on account of man, for (Q)the [n]intent of man’s heart is evil from his youth; (R)and I will never again [o]destroy every living thing, as I have done.
22 While the earth remains,
Seedtime and harvest,
Cold and heat,
(S)Summer and winter,
And (T)day and night
Shall not cease.”

8 І згадав Бог про Ноя, і про кожну звірину та про всяку худобу, що були з ним у ковчезі. І Бог навів вітра на землю, і вода заспокоїлась.
2 І закрились джерела безодні та небесні розтвори, і дощ з неба спинився.
3 І верталась вода з-над землі, верталась постійно. І стала вода спадати по ста й п'ятидесяти днях.
4 А сьомого місяця, на сімнадцятий день місяця ковчег спинився на горах Араратських.
5 І постійно вода спадала аж до десятого місяця. А першого дня десятого місяця завиднілися гірські вершки.
6 І сталося по сорока днях, Ной відчинив вікно ковчегу, що його він зробив.
7 І вислав він крука. І літав той туди та назад, аж поки не висохла вода з-над землі.
8 І послав він від себе голубку, щоб побачити, чи не спала вода з-над землі.
9 Та не знайшла та голубка місця спочинку для стопи своєї ноги, і вернулась до нього до ковчегу, бо стояла вода на поверхні всієї землі. І вистромив руку, і взяв він її, та й до себе в ковчег упустив її.
10 І він зачекав іще других сім день, і знову з ковчегу голубку послав.
11 І голубка вернулась до нього вечірнього часу, і ось у неї в дзюбку лист оливковий зірваний. І довідався Ной, що спала вода з-над землі.
12 І він зачекав іще других сім день, і голубку послав. І вже більше до нього вона не вернулась.
13 І сталося, року шістсотого й першого, місяця першого, першого дня місяця висохла вода з-над землі. І Ной зняв даха ковчегу й побачив: аж ось висохла поверхня землі!
14 А місяця другого, двадцятого й сьомого дня місяця висохла земля.
15 І промовив Ноєві Господь, кажучи:
16 Вийди з ковчегу ти, а з тобою жінка твоя, і сини твої, і невістки твої.
17 Кожну звірину, що з тобою вона, від кожного тіла з-посеред птаства, і з-посеред скотини, і з-посеред усіх плазунів, що плазують по землі, повиводь із собою. І хай рояться вони на землі, і нехай на землі вони плодяться та розмножуються.
18 І вийшов Ной, а з ним сини його, і жінка його, і невістки його.
19 Кожна звірина, кожен плазун, усе птаство, усе, що рухається на землі, за родами їхніми вийшли з ковчегу вони.
20 І збудував Ной жертівника Господеві. І взяв він із кожної чистої худоби й з кожного чистого птаства, і приніс на жертівнику цілопалення.
21 І почув Господь пахощі любі, і в серці Своєму промовив: Я вже більше не буду землі проклинати за людину, бо нахил людського серця лихий від віку його молодого. І вже більше не вбиватиму всього живого, як то Я вчинив був.
22 Надалі, по всі дні землі, сівба та жнива, і холоднеча та спека, і літо й зима, і день та ніч не припиняться!

8 Mais Dieu n’avait pas oublié Noé et toutes les bêtes sauvages et les bestiaux qui étaient avec lui dans le bateau. Il fit souffler un vent sur la terre ; alors les eaux se mirent à baisser. 2 Les sources des eaux souterraines et les écluses du ciel se refermèrent. La pluie cessa de tomber. 3 Peu à peu, les eaux se retirèrent de dessus la terre. Au bout des cent cinquante jours, elles commencèrent à baisser.
4 Le dix-septième jour du septième mois, le bateau s’échoua dans le massif montagneux d’Ararat. 5 Les eaux continuèrent à baisser jusqu’au dixième mois ; le premier jour de ce mois, les sommets des montagnes apparurent. 6 Quarante jours après, Noé ouvrit la fenêtre qu’il avait ménagée dans le bateau 7 et lâcha un corbeau ; celui-ci s’envola, il revint et repartit à plusieurs reprises jusqu’à ce que les eaux se soient résorbées sur la terre. 8 Puis Noé lâcha une colombe pour voir si les eaux avaient baissé sur la terre ; 9 mais n’ayant pas trouvé où se poser, celle-ci revint vers lui dans le bateau, car toute la terre était encore inondée. Noé tendit la main, prit la colombe et la ramena auprès de lui dans le bateau. 10 Il attendit encore sept autres jours et lâcha de nouveau la colombe hors du bateau ; 11 elle revint vers lui sur le soir, tenant dans son bec une feuille d’olivier toute fraîche ; Noé sut ainsi que les eaux s’étaient résorbées sur la terre. 12 Il attendit encore sept autres jours et relâcha la colombe ; cette fois, elle ne revint plus vers lui.
13 L’an 601 de la vie de Noé, le premier jour du premier mois, les eaux s’étaient retirées sur la terre, Noé enleva la couverture du bateau ; il regarda dehors et constata que la surface du sol avait séché. 14 Le vingt-septième jour du deuxième mois, la terre était sèche. 15 Alors Dieu dit à Noé : 16 Sors du bateau avec ta femme, tes fils et tes belles-filles. 17 Fais sortir aussi tous les animaux de toutes sortes qui sont avec toi : les oiseaux, les bestiaux et toutes les bêtes qui se meuvent à ras de terre : qu’ils prolifèrent sur la terre, et qu’ils s’y reproduisent et s’y multiplient.
18 Noé sortit avec ses fils, sa femme et ses belles-filles. 19 Tous les animaux, les bêtes qui se meuvent à ras de terre et les oiseaux, tous les êtres qui remuent sur la terre sortirent du bateau par familles.
20 Noé érigea un autel pour l’Eternel, il prit de tous les animaux purs et de tous les oiseaux purs, et les offrit en holocauste[a] sur l’autel. 21 L’Eternel sentit le parfum apaisant du sacrifice[b] et se dit en lui-même : Jamais plus je ne maudirai la terre à cause de l’homme, puisque le cœur de l’homme est porté au mal dès son enfance, et je ne détruirai plus tous les êtres vivants comme je viens de le faire.
22 Aussi longtemps ╵que durera la terre,
semailles et moissons,
froid et chaleur,
été, hiver,
et jour et nuit
jamais ne cesseront.

8 But God remembered(A) Noah and all the wild animals and the livestock that were with him in the ark, and he sent a wind over the earth,(B) and the waters receded. 2 Now the springs of the deep and the floodgates of the heavens(C) had been closed, and the rain(D) had stopped falling from the sky. 3 The water receded steadily from the earth. At the end of the hundred and fifty days(E) the water had gone down, 4 and on the seventeenth day of the seventh month(F) the ark came to rest on the mountains(G) of Ararat.(H) 5 The waters continued to recede until the tenth month, and on the first day of the tenth month the tops of the mountains became visible.
6 After forty days(I) Noah opened a window he had made in the ark 7 and sent out a raven,(J) and it kept flying back and forth until the water had dried up from the earth.(K) 8 Then he sent out a dove(L) to see if the water had receded from the surface of the ground. 9 But the dove could find nowhere to perch because there was water over all the surface of the earth; so it returned to Noah in the ark. He reached out his hand and took the dove and brought it back to himself in the ark. 10 He waited seven more days and again sent out the dove from the ark. 11 When the dove returned to him in the evening, there in its beak was a freshly plucked olive leaf! Then Noah knew that the water had receded from the earth.(M) 12 He waited seven more days and sent the dove out again, but this time it did not return to him.
13 By the first day of the first month of Noah’s six hundred and first year,(N) the water had dried up from the earth. Noah then removed the covering from the ark and saw that the surface of the ground was dry. 14 By the twenty-seventh day of the second month(O) the earth was completely dry.
15 Then God said to Noah, 16 “Come out of the ark, you and your wife and your sons and their wives.(P) 17 Bring out every kind of living creature that is with you—the birds, the animals, and all the creatures that move along the ground—so they can multiply on the earth and be fruitful and increase in number on it.”(Q)
18 So Noah came out, together with his sons and his wife and his sons’ wives.(R) 19 All the animals and all the creatures that move along the ground and all the birds—everything that moves on land—came out of the ark, one kind after another.
20 Then Noah built an altar to the Lord(S) and, taking some of all the clean animals and clean(T) birds, he sacrificed burnt offerings(U) on it. 21 The Lord smelled the pleasing aroma(V) and said in his heart: “Never again will I curse the ground(W) because of humans, even though[a] every inclination of the human heart is evil from childhood.(X) And never again will I destroy(Y) all living creatures,(Z) as I have done.
