23 撒拉享寿一百二十七岁，这是撒拉一生的岁数。 2 撒拉死在迦南地的基列．亚巴，就是希伯仑；亚伯拉罕进去为撒拉哀恸哭号。 3 亚伯拉罕从死者面前起来，对赫人说： 4 “我是在你们中间寄居的外族人，求你们在你们中间给我一块坟地作产业，使我可以埋葬我死了的人，使她不露在我面前。” 5 赫人回答亚伯拉罕，说： 6 “我主请听，你在我们中间是一位尊贵的王子，你可以在我们最好的坟地里埋葬你死了的人，我们必没有人阻止你在他的坟地埋葬你死了的人。” 7 于是，亚伯拉罕起来，向当地的赫人下拜， 8 对他们说：“你们若有意使我埋葬我死了的人，使她不露在我的眼前，就请听我的话，为我请求琐辖的儿子以弗仑， 9 叫他把他所拥有的，田头上那麦比拉洞卖给我。他可以按着十足的价银卖给我，使我在你们中间有产业作坟地。” 10 那时，以弗仑正坐在赫人中间。于是，赫人以弗仑就回答亚伯拉罕，所有来到城门口的赫人都听见他说： 11 “我主，不要这样，请听我说，这块田我送给你，连其中的洞我也送给你。我在我的族人眼前送给你，让你可以埋葬你死了的人。” 12 亚伯拉罕就在当地的人面前下拜， 13 然后在当地的人面前对以弗仑说：“请听我说，如果你愿意，我必定把地的价银给你，请你收下吧，让我可以在那里埋葬我死了的人。” 14 以弗仑回答亚伯拉罕，对他说： 15 “我主，请听我说，一块值四百块（四千五百克）银子的田地，在你我之间，算得甚么呢？你埋葬你死了的人吧。” 16 亚伯拉罕同意以弗仑说的价银，就照着他在赫人面前所说的，拿商人通用的银子，称了四百块（四千五百克）银子给以弗仑。
17 于是，以弗仑在麦比拉，在幔利前面的那块地，包括那块田和其中的洞，田中和四周所有的树木， 18 都在赫人眼前，就是在所有来到城门口的赫人眼前，归给亚伯拉罕作产业。 19 这事以后，亚伯拉罕把自己的妻子撒拉埋在迦南地，幔利前面麦比拉田间的洞里。幔利就是希伯仑。 20 这样，那块田和田中的洞，就从赫人归给了亚伯拉罕为产业作坟地。

Sarah’s Death and Burial
23 Sarah lived for one hundred and twenty-seven years; this was the length of Sarah’s life. 2 And Sarah died at Kiriath-arba (that is, Hebron) in the land of Canaan; and Abraham went in to mourn for Sarah and to weep for her. 3 Abraham rose up from beside his dead, and said to the Hittites, 4 ‘I am a stranger and an alien residing among you; give me property among you for a burying-place, so that I may bury my dead out of my sight.’ 5 The Hittites answered Abraham, 6 ‘Hear us, my lord; you are a mighty prince among us. Bury your dead in the choicest of our burial places; none of us will withhold from you any burial ground for burying your dead.’ 7 Abraham rose and bowed to the Hittites, the people of the land. 8 He said to them, ‘If you are willing that I should bury my dead out of my sight, hear me, and entreat for me Ephron son of Zohar, 9 so that he may give me the cave of Machpelah, which he owns; it is at the end of his field. For the full price let him give it to me in your presence as a possession for a burying-place.’ 10 Now Ephron was sitting among the Hittites; and Ephron the Hittite answered Abraham in the hearing of the Hittites, of all who went in at the gate of his city, 11 ‘No, my lord, hear me; I give you the field, and I give you the cave that is in it; in the presence of my people I give it to you; bury your dead.’ 12 Then Abraham bowed down before the people of the land. 13 He said to Ephron in the hearing of the people of the land, ‘If you only will listen to me! I will give the price of the field; accept it from me, so that I may bury my dead there.’ 14 Ephron answered Abraham, 15 ‘My lord, listen to me; a piece of land worth four hundred shekels of silver—what is that between you and me? Bury your dead.’ 16 Abraham agreed with Ephron; and Abraham weighed out for Ephron the silver that he had named in the hearing of the Hittites, four hundred shekels of silver, according to the weights current among the merchants.
17 So the field of Ephron in Machpelah, which was to the east of Mamre, the field with the cave that was in it and all the trees that were in the field, throughout its whole area, passed 18 to Abraham as a possession in the presence of the Hittites, in the presence of all who went in at the gate of his city. 19 After this, Abraham buried Sarah his wife in the cave of the field of Machpelah facing Mamre (that is, Hebron) in the land of Canaan. 20 The field and the cave that is in it passed from the Hittites into Abraham’s possession as a burying-place.
