亚伯拉罕与亚比米勒
20 亚伯拉罕从幔利迁往南地，住在加低斯和书珥之间。在基拉耳寄居期间， 2 他称妻子撒拉是自己的妹妹。基拉耳王亚比米勒派人带走了撒拉。
3 晚上，上帝在梦中对亚比米勒说：“你的死期到了，因为你带来的那个女人是别人的妻子。” 4 亚比米勒还没有亲近撒拉，因此他说：“主啊，难道你要毁灭一个无辜的国家吗？ 5 那人亲口对我说这女人是他妹妹，她也说那人是她哥哥。我问心无愧，没有做错。” 6 上帝在梦中对他说：“我知道你问心无愧，所以我才阻止你，不让你亲近她，免得你得罪我。 7 现在你要把那人的妻子还给他，他是个先知，他会为你祷告，使你活命。要知道，如果你不这样做，你和你的人民都必死。”
8 亚比米勒清早起来召来他的臣仆，把这件事情告诉他们，他们听了都十分害怕。 9 亚比米勒召见亚伯拉罕，对他说：“你为什么要害我们？我什么地方得罪了你？你竟使我和我的人民陷入大罪！你不该这样做。” 10 又说：“你为什么这样做？” 11 亚伯拉罕回答说：“因为我想这里的人不敬畏上帝，他们必为了夺我妻子而杀我。 12 况且，她真是我的妹妹，与我同父异母，后来做了我的妻子。 13 上帝吩咐我离开家乡到外面漂泊的时候，我对她说，‘无论我们到哪里，你都要说我是你哥哥，这就是你对我的恩情。’”
14 于是，亚比米勒带来牛、羊和男女仆婢送给亚伯拉罕，并把他妻子撒拉还给他， 15 又对他说：“我的国土就在你面前，你想住在哪里都可以。” 16 亚比米勒对撒拉说：“我给你哥哥十一公斤银子，在你家人面前证明你是清白的，你没有做错什么。”
17 亚伯拉罕祈求上帝，上帝就治好了亚比米勒，也使他妻子和众婢女恢复了生育能力。 18 原来耶和华因为亚伯拉罕的妻子撒拉这件事，使亚比米勒宫中所有的妇女都不能生育。

20 Abraham quitta cette région pour aller dans le Néguev. Il s’installa entre Qadesh et Shour, puis il séjourna à Guérar[a]. 2 En parlant de sa femme Sara, il disait : « C’est ma sœur ! » de sorte qu’Abimélek, le roi de Guérar, la fit enlever. 3 Mais Dieu visita Abimélek de nuit en songe et lui dit : Tu vas mourir, à cause de cette femme que tu as enlevée, car elle est mariée.
4 Or Abimélek ne s’était pas approché d’elle. Il s’écria : Mon Seigneur, ferais-tu mourir des innocents ? 5 Son mari ne m’a-t-il pas dit : « C’est ma sœur » ? D’ailleurs, elle-même me l’a confirmé en affirmant : « C’est mon frère. » C’est en toute bonne conscience et avec innocence que j’ai agi.
6 Dieu lui répondit en songe : Je sais, moi aussi, que tu as agi en toute bonne conscience. C’est pourquoi je t’ai empêché de commettre un péché contre moi et je ne t’ai pas laissé la toucher. 7 Maintenant, renvoie cette femme à son mari, car c’est un prophète[b]. Il priera pour toi et tu resteras en vie. Mais si tu ne la lui rends pas, sache que tu mourras, toi et tous les tiens.
8 De bon matin, Abimélek convoqua tous ses familiers et leur raconta tout ce qui lui était arrivé. Ces gens en furent extrêmement troublés. 9 Puis Abimélek fit venir Abraham et lui dit : Pourquoi nous as-tu fait cela ? Quel mal t’ai-je fait pour que tu nous aies exposés, moi et mon royaume, à commettre un si grand péché ? Tu as fait envers moi des choses qui ne se font pas. 10 Puis il demanda à Abraham : Pour quelle raison as-tu agi de la sorte ?
11 Abraham répondit : Je me suis dit : Certainement, on n’a aucune crainte de Dieu dans ce pays, et on me tuera à cause de ma femme. 12 De plus, elle est réellement ma parente, puisqu’elle est fille de mon père, mais pas de ma mère[c]. Et elle est devenue ma femme. 13 Quand Dieu m’a fait quitter la maison de mon père et aller de lieu en lieu, j’ai dit à ma femme : « Aie la bonté de dire, partout où nous irons, que je suis ton frère. »
14 Alors Abimélek prit des moutons, des chèvres et des bovins, des serviteurs et des servantes et en fit cadeau à Abraham. Il lui rendit aussi Sara, sa femme. 15 Puis il ajouta : Mon pays est à ta disposition ; établis-toi où bon te semblera.
16 Puis, se tournant vers Sara, il dit : Vois, je donne mille pièces d’argent à ton frère. C’est là un gage de ton innocence pour tous ceux qui sont avec toi et cela te justifiera devant tous.
17 Abraham pria Dieu, et Dieu guérit Abimélek ainsi que sa femme et ses servantes, et elles purent de nouveau avoir des enfants. 18 Car l’Eternel avait frappé de stérilité toutes les femmes dans la maison d’Abimélek à cause de l’enlèvement de Sara, femme d’Abraham.

Abraham and Abimelek(A)
20 Now Abraham moved on from there(B) into the region of the Negev(C) and lived between Kadesh(D) and Shur.(E) For a while(F) he stayed in Gerar,(G) 2 and there Abraham said of his wife Sarah, “She is my sister.(H)” Then Abimelek(I) king of Gerar sent for Sarah and took her.(J)
3 But God came to Abimelek(K) in a dream(L) one night and said to him, “You are as good as dead(M) because of the woman you have taken; she is a married woman.”(N)
4 Now Abimelek had not gone near her, so he said, “Lord, will you destroy an innocent nation?(O) 5 Did he not say to me, ‘She is my sister,(P)’ and didn’t she also say, ‘He is my brother’? I have done this with a clear conscience(Q) and clean hands.(R)”
6 Then God said to him in the dream, “Yes, I know you did this with a clear conscience, and so I have kept(S) you from sinning against me.(T) That is why I did not let you touch her. 7 Now return the man’s wife, for he is a prophet,(U) and he will pray for you(V) and you will live. But if you do not return her, you may be sure that you and all who belong to you will die.”(W)
8 Early the next morning Abimelek summoned all his officials, and when he told them all that had happened, they were very much afraid. 9 Then Abimelek called Abraham in and said, “What have you done to us? How have I wronged you that you have brought such great guilt upon me and my kingdom? You have done things to me that should never be done.(X)” 10 And Abimelek asked Abraham, “What was your reason for doing this?”
11 Abraham replied, “I said to myself, ‘There is surely no fear of God(Y) in this place, and they will kill me because of my wife.’(Z) 12 Besides, she really is my sister,(AA) the daughter of my father though not of my mother; and she became my wife. 13 And when God had me wander(AB) from my father’s household,(AC) I said to her, ‘This is how you can show your love to me: Everywhere we go, say of me, “He is my brother.”’”
14 Then Abimelek(AD) brought sheep and cattle and male and female slaves and gave them to Abraham,(AE) and he returned Sarah his wife to him. 15 And Abimelek said, “My land is before you; live wherever you like.”(AF)
16 To Sarah he said, “I am giving your brother a thousand shekels[a] of silver. This is to cover the offense against you before all who are with you; you are completely vindicated.”
17 Then Abraham prayed to God,(AG) and God healed Abimelek, his wife and his female slaves so they could have children again, 18 for the Lord had kept all the women in Abimelek’s household from conceiving because of Abraham’s wife Sarah.(AH)
