17 Ní ìgbà tí Abramu di ẹni ọ̀kàn-dínlọ́gọ́rùnún (99) ọdún, Olúwa farahàn án, ó sì wí pé, “Èmi ni Ọlọ́run alágbára (Eli-Ṣaddai), máa rìn níwájú mi, kí o sì jẹ́ aláìlábùkù. 2 Èmi yóò sì fi ìdí májẹ̀mú mi múlẹ̀ pẹ̀lú rẹ. Èmi yóò sì sọ ọ́ di púpọ̀ gidigidi.”
3 Abramu sì dojúbolẹ̀, Ọlọ́run sì wí fún un pé. 4 “Ní ti èmi, májẹ̀mú mi pẹ̀lú rẹ nìyí. Ìwọ yóò di baba orílẹ̀-èdè púpọ̀. 5 (A)A kì yóò pe orúkọ rẹ̀ ní Abramu mọ́, bí kò ṣe Abrahamu, nítorí, mo ti sọ ọ́ di baba orílẹ̀-èdè púpọ̀. 6 Èmi yóò mú ọ bí si lọ́pọ̀lọpọ̀, ọ̀pọ̀ orílẹ̀-èdè ni èmi yóò sì mú ti ara rẹ jáde wá, àwọn ọba pẹ̀lú yóò sì ti inú rẹ jáde. 7 (B)Èmi yóò sì gbé májẹ̀mú mi kalẹ̀ láàrín tèmi tìrẹ, ní májẹ̀mú ayérayé àti láàrín irú-ọmọ rẹ ní ìran-ìran wọn, láti máa ṣe Ọlọ́run rẹ àti ti irú-ọmọ rẹ lẹ́yìn rẹ. 8 (C)Gbogbo ilẹ̀ Kenaani níbi tí ìwọ ti ṣe àjèjì ni èmi yóò fi fún ọ àti fún irú-ọmọ rẹ lẹ́yìn rẹ láéláé, Èmi yóò sì jẹ́ Ọlọ́run wọn.”
9 Nígbà náà ni Ọlọ́run wí fún Abrahamu pé, “Ìwọ máa pa májẹ̀mú mi mọ́, ìwọ àti irú-ọmọ rẹ lẹ́yìn rẹ àti àwọn ìran tí ó ń bọ̀. 10 (D)Èyí ni májẹ̀mú mi pẹ̀lú rẹ àti ìran rẹ lẹ́yìn rẹ, májẹ̀mú tí ẹ̀yin yóò máa pamọ́. Gbogbo ọkùnrin yín ni a gbọdọ̀ kọ ní ilà. 11 (E)Ẹ̀yin yóò kọ ara yín ní ilà, èyí ni yóò jẹ́ ààmì májẹ̀mú láàrín tèmi tiyín. 12 Ní gbogbo ìran tí ń bọ̀ lẹ́yìn, gbogbo ọkùnrin ni a gbọdọ̀ kọ ni ilà ní ọjọ́ kẹjọ tí a bí wọn, àti àwọn tí a bí ní ilé rẹ, tàbí tí a fi owó rà lọ́wọ́ àwọn àjèjì, àwọn tí kì í ṣe ọmọ rẹ̀. Èyí yóò sì jẹ́ májẹ̀mú láéláé tí yóò wà láàrín Èmi àti irú-ọmọ rẹ. 13 Ìbá à ṣe ẹni tí a bí nínú ilé rẹ, tàbí ẹni tí o fi owó rà, a gbọdọ̀ kọ wọ́n ní ilà; májẹ̀mú mí lára yín yóò jẹ́ májẹ̀mú ayérayé. 14 Gbogbo ọmọkùnrin tí kò bá kọ ilà, tí a kò kọ ní ilà abẹ́, ni a ó gé kúrò láàrín àwọn ènìyàn rẹ̀, nítorí pé ó da májẹ̀mú mi.”
15 Ọlọ́run wí fún Abrahamu pé, “Ní ti Sarai, aya rẹ̀, ìwọ kì yóò pè é ní Sarai mọ́, bí kò ṣe Sara. 16 Èmi yóò bùkún fún un, Èmi yóò sì fun ọ ní ọmọkùnrin kan nípasẹ̀ rẹ̀. Èmi yóò bùkún un, yóò sì di ìyá àwọn orílẹ̀-èdè, àwọn ọba àwọn orílẹ̀-èdè yóò sì ti ara rẹ̀ jáde wá.”
17 Abrahamu sì dojúbolẹ̀, ó rẹ́rìn-ín, ó sì wí fún ara rẹ̀ pé, “A ó ha bí ọmọ fún ẹni ọgọ́rùn-ún (100) ọdún? Sara tí í ṣe ẹni àádọ́rùn-ún (90) ọdún yóò ha bímọ bí?” 18 Abrahamu sì wí fún Ọlọ́run pé, “Sá à jẹ́ kí Iṣmaeli kí ó wà láààyè lábẹ́ ìbùkún rẹ.”
19 Nígbà náà ni Ọlọ́run wí pé, “Mo gbọ́, ṣùgbọ́n Sara aya rẹ̀ yóò bí ọmọkùnrin kan fún ọ, ìwọ yóò sì pe orúkọ rẹ̀ ní Isaaki, èmi yóò fi ìdí májẹ̀mú mi múlẹ̀ pẹ̀lú rẹ̀ ní májẹ̀mú ayérayé àti àwọn irú-ọmọ rẹ̀ lẹ́yìn rẹ̀. 20 Ṣùgbọ́n ní ti Iṣmaeli, mo gbọ́ ohun tí ìwọ wí, èmi yóò bùkún fún un nítòótọ́, èmi ó sì mú un bí sí i, yóò sì pọ̀ sí i, òun yóò sì jẹ́ baba fún àwọn ọmọ ọba méjìlá, bẹ́ẹ̀ ni èmi yóò sì sọ ọ́ di orílẹ̀-èdè ńlá. 21 Ṣùgbọ́n èmi yóò fi ìdí májẹ̀mú mi múlẹ̀ pẹ̀lú Isaaki, ẹni tí Sara yóò bí fún ọ ni ìwòyí àmọ́dún.” 22 Nígbà tí ó ti bá Abrahamu sọ̀rọ̀ tán, Ọlọ́run sì gòkè lọ kúrò lọ́dọ̀ rẹ̀.
23 Ní ọjọ́ náà gan an ni Abrahamu mú Iṣmaeli ọmọ rẹ̀ àti àwọn ẹrú tí a bí ní ilé rẹ̀ àti àwọn tí ó fi owó rà, ó sì kọ wọ́n ní ilà. The Covenant of Circumcision
17 When Abram was ninety-nine years old,(A) the Lord appeared to him(B) and said, “I am God Almighty[a];(C) walk before me faithfully and be blameless.(D) 2 Then I will make my covenant between me and you(E) and will greatly increase your numbers.”(F)
3 Abram fell facedown,(G) and God said to him, 4 “As for me, this is my covenant with you:(H) You will be the father of many nations.(I) 5 No longer will you be called Abram[b]; your name will be Abraham,[c](J) for I have made you a father of many nations.(K) 6 I will make you very fruitful;(L) I will make nations of you, and kings will come from you.(M) 7 I will establish my covenant(N) as an everlasting covenant(O) between me and you and your descendants after you for the generations to come, to be your God(P) and the God of your descendants after you.(Q) 8 The whole land of Canaan,(R) where you now reside as a foreigner,(S) I will give as an everlasting possession to you and your descendants after you;(T) and I will be their God.(U)”
9 Then God said to Abraham, “As for you, you must keep my covenant,(V) you and your descendants after you for the generations to come.(W) 10 This is my covenant with you and your descendants after you, the covenant you are to keep: Every male among you shall be circumcised.(X) 11 You are to undergo circumcision,(Y) and it will be the sign of the covenant(Z) between me and you. 12 For the generations to come(AA) every male among you who is eight days old must be circumcised,(AB) including those born in your household or bought with money from a foreigner—those who are not your offspring. 13 Whether born in your household or bought with your money, they must be circumcised.(AC) My covenant in your flesh is to be an everlasting covenant.(AD) 14 Any uncircumcised male, who has not been circumcised(AE) in the flesh, will be cut off from his people;(AF) he has broken my covenant.(AG)”
15 God also said to Abraham, “As for Sarai(AH) your wife, you are no longer to call her Sarai; her name will be Sarah.(AI) 16 I will bless her and will surely give you a son by her.(AJ) I will bless her so that she will be the mother of nations;(AK) kings of peoples will come from her.”
17 Abraham fell facedown;(AL) he laughed(AM) and said to himself, “Will a son be born to a man a hundred years old?(AN) Will Sarah bear a child at the age of ninety?”(AO) 18 And Abraham said to God, “If only Ishmael(AP) might live under your blessing!”(AQ)
19 Then God said, “Yes, but your wife Sarah will bear you a son,(AR) and you will call him Isaac.[d](AS) I will establish my covenant with him(AT) as an everlasting covenant(AU) for his descendants after him. 20 And as for Ishmael, I have heard you: I will surely bless him; I will make him fruitful and will greatly increase his numbers.(AV) He will be the father of twelve rulers,(AW) and I will make him into a great nation.(AX) 21 But my covenant(AY) I will establish with Isaac, whom Sarah will bear to you(AZ) by this time next year.”(BA) 22 When he had finished speaking with Abraham, God went up from him.(BB)
23 On that very day Abraham took his son Ishmael and all those born in his household(BC) or bought with his money, every male in his household, and circumcised them, as God told him.(BD) 24 Abraham was ninety-nine years old(BE) when he was circumcised,(BF) 25 and his son Ishmael(BG) was thirteen; 26 Abraham and his son Ishmael were both circumcised on that very day. 27 And every male in Abraham’s household(BH), including those born in his household or bought from a foreigner, was circumcised with him.

17 Cuando Abram tenía noventa y nueve años, el Señor se le apareció y le dijo:
―Yo soy el Dios Todopoderoso. Vive en mi presencia y sé intachable. 2 Así confirmaré mi pacto contigo, y multiplicaré tu descendencia en gran manera.
3 Al oír que Dios le hablaba, Abram cayó rostro en tierra, y Dios continuó:
4 ―Este es el pacto que establezco contigo: Tú serás el padre de una multitud de naciones. 5 Ya no te llamarás Abram,[a] sino que de ahora en adelante tu nombre será Abraham,[b] porque te he confirmado como padre de una multitud de naciones. 6 Te haré tan fecundo que de ti saldrán reyes y naciones. 7 Estableceré mi pacto contigo y con tu descendencia, como pacto perpetuo, por todas las generaciones. Yo seré tu Dios, y el Dios de tus descendientes. 8 A ti y a tu descendencia os daré, en posesión perpetua, toda la tierra de Canaán, donde ahora andas peregrinando. Y yo seré su Dios.
9 Dios también le dijo a Abraham:
―Cumple con mi pacto, tú y toda tu descendencia, por todas las generaciones. 10 Y este es el pacto que establezco contigo y con tu descendencia, y que todos deberéis cumplir: Todos los varones entre vosotros deberán ser circuncidados. 11 Circuncidarán la carne de su prepucio, y esa será la señal del pacto entre nosotros. 12 Todos los varones de cada generación deberán ser circuncidados a los ocho días de nacidos, tanto los niños nacidos en casa como los que hayan sido comprados por dinero a un extranjero y que, por lo tanto, no sean de vuestra estirpe. 13 Todos sin excepción, tanto el nacido en casa como el que haya sido comprado por dinero, deberán ser circuncidados. De esta manera mi pacto quedará como una marca indeleble en vuestra carne, como un pacto perpetuo. 14 Pero el varón incircunciso, al que no se le haya cortado la carne del prepucio, será eliminado de su pueblo por quebrantar mi pacto.
15 También le dijo Dios a Abraham:
―A Saray, tu esposa, ya no la llamarás Saray, sino que su nombre será Sara.[c] 16 Yo la bendeciré, y por medio de ella te daré un hijo. Tanto la bendeciré que será madre de naciones, y de ella surgirán reyes de pueblos.
17 Entonces Abraham inclinó el rostro hasta el suelo y se rio de pensar: «¿Acaso puede un hombre tener un hijo a los cien años, y ser madre Sara a los noventa?» 18 Por eso le dijo a Dios:
―¡Concédele a Ismael vivir bajo tu bendición!
19 A lo que Dios contestó:
―¡Pero es Sara, tu esposa, la que te dará un hijo, al que llamarás Isaac![d] Yo estableceré mi pacto con él y con sus descendientes, como pacto perpetuo. 20 En cuanto a Ismael, ya te he escuchado. Yo lo bendeciré, lo haré fecundo y le daré una descendencia numerosa. Él será el padre de doce príncipes. Haré de él una nación muy grande. 21 Pero mi pacto lo estableceré con Isaac, el hijo que te dará Sara de aquí a un año, por estos días.
22 Cuando Dios terminó de hablar con Abraham, se retiró de su presencia. 23 Ese mismo día Abraham tomó a su hijo Ismael, a los criados nacidos en su casa, a los que había comprado con su dinero y a todos los otros varones que había en su casa, y los circuncidó, tal como Dios se lo había mandado. 24 Abraham tenía noventa y nueve años cuando fue circuncidado, 25 mientras que su hijo Ismael tenía trece. 26 Así que ambos fueron circuncidados el mismo día 27 junto con todos los varones de su casa, tanto los nacidos en ella como los comprados a extranjeros.

2 And I will make my covenant between me and thee, and will multiply thee exceedingly.
3 And Abram fell on his face: and God talked with him, saying,
4 As for me, behold, my covenant is with thee, and thou shalt be a father of many nations.
5 Neither shall thy name any more be called Abram, but thy name shall be Abraham; for a father of many nations have I made thee.
6 And I will make thee exceeding fruitful, and I will make nations of thee, and kings shall come out of thee.
7 And I will establish my covenant between me and thee and thy seed after thee in their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be a God unto thee, and to thy seed after thee.
8 And I will give unto thee, and to thy seed after thee, the land wherein thou art a stranger, all the land of Canaan, for an everlasting possession; and I will be their God.
9 And God said unto Abraham, Thou shalt keep my covenant therefore, thou, and thy seed after thee in their generations.
10 This is my covenant, which ye shall keep, between me and you and thy seed after thee; Every man child among you shall be circumcised.
11 And ye shall circumcise the flesh of your foreskin; and it shall be a token of the covenant betwixt me and you.
12 And he that is eight days old shall be circumcised among you, every man child in your generations, he that is born in the house, or bought with money of any stranger, which is not of thy seed.
13 He that is born in thy house, and he that is bought with thy money, must needs be circumcised: and my covenant shall be in your flesh for an everlasting covenant.
14 And the uncircumcised man child whose flesh of his foreskin is not circumcised, that soul shall be cut off from his people; he hath broken my covenant.
15 And God said unto Abraham, As for Sarai thy wife, thou shalt not call her name Sarai, but Sarah shall her name be.
16 And I will bless her, and give thee a son also of her: yea, I will bless her, and she shall be a mother of nations; kings of people shall be of her.
17 Then Abraham fell upon his face, and laughed, and said in his heart, Shall a child be born unto him that is an hundred years old? and shall Sarah, that is ninety years old, bear?
18 And Abraham said unto God, O that Ishmael might live before thee!
19 And God said, Sarah thy wife shall bear thee a son indeed; and thou shalt call his name Isaac: and I will establish my covenant with him for an everlasting covenant, and with his seed after him.
20 And as for Ishmael, I have heard thee: Behold, I have blessed him, and will make him fruitful, and will multiply him exceedingly; twelve princes shall he beget, and I will make him a great nation.
21 But my covenant will I establish with Isaac, which Sarah shall bear unto thee at this set time in the next year.
22 And he left off talking with him, and God went up from Abraham.
23 And Abraham took Ishmael his son, and all that were born in his house, and all that were bought with his money, every male among the men of Abraham's house; and circumcised the flesh of their foreskin in the selfsame day, as God had said unto him.
24 And Abraham was ninety years old and nine, when he was circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin.
25 And Ishmael his son was thirteen years old, when he was circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin.
26 In the selfsame day was Abraham circumcised, and Ishmael his son.
27 And all the men of his house, born in the house, and bought with money of the stranger, were circumcised with him.
