亞伯蘭返回迦南
13 亞伯蘭帶著妻子和所有的一切，以及羅得，一同從埃及上到南地去。 2 亞伯蘭有很多牲畜和金銀。 3 他從南地一站一站往前走，到伯特利去；到伯特利和艾城中間，就是他起先支搭帳棚的地方， 4 也是他築頭一座祭壇的地方，亞伯蘭就在那裡求告耶和華的名。 5 和亞伯蘭同行的羅得，也有羊群、牛群和帳棚。
亞伯蘭與羅得分手
6 那地容不下他們住在一起；因為他們的財物很多，所以他們再也不能住在一起。 7 牧養亞伯蘭牲畜的和牧養羅得牲畜的，起了紛爭；當時迦南人和比利洗人還住在那地。 8 亞伯蘭就對羅得說：“你我之間，切不可紛爭；你的牧人和我的牧人之間，也不可紛爭，因為我們是至親。 9 全地不都是在你面前嗎？請你離開我吧！你若向左，我就向右；你若向右，我就向左。” 10 羅得舉目，看見約旦河整個平原，直到瑣珥，都有水灌溉；在耶和華毀滅所多瑪和蛾摩拉之前，這地好像耶和華的園子，也像埃及地一樣。 11 羅得選擇了約旦河整個平原，於是向東移動，他們就彼此分開了。 12 亞伯蘭住在迦南地；羅得住在平原的城市中，漸漸挪移帳棚，直到所多瑪。 13 在耶和華看來，所多瑪人是罪大惡極的。
亞伯蘭獲得之應許
14 羅得離開亞伯蘭以後，耶和華對亞伯蘭說：“你要舉目，從你所在的地方向東南西北觀看。 15 你看見的地方，我都要賜給你和你的後裔，直到永遠。 16 我要使你的後裔好像地上灰塵那麼多；若能數算地上的灰塵，才能數算你的後裔。 17 你起來，縱橫走遍這地，因為我必把這地賜給你。” 18 於是，亞伯蘭漸漸挪移帳棚，來到希伯崙幔利的橡樹附近，在那裡居住，也在那裡為耶和華築了一座祭壇。

Abram and Lot Separate
13 So Abram, his wife and Lot left Egypt. They took everything they owned and traveled to southern Canaan. 2 Abram was very rich in cattle, silver and gold.
3 He left southern Canaan and went back to Bethel. He went where he had camped before, between Bethel and Ai. 4 It was the place where Abram had built an altar before. So he worshiped the Lord there.
5 During this time Lot was traveling with Abram. Lot also had many sheep, cattle and tents. 6 Abram and Lot had so many animals that the land could not support both of them together. 7 Abram’s herders and Lot’s herders began to argue. The Canaanites and the Perizzites were living in the land at this time.
8 So Abram said to Lot, “There should be no arguing between you and me. Your herders and mine should not argue either. We are brothers. 9 We should separate. The whole land is there in front of you. If you go to the left, I will go to the right. If you go to the right, I will go to the left.”
10 Lot looked all around and saw the whole Jordan Valley. He saw that there was much water there. It was like the Lord’s garden, like the land of Egypt in the direction of Zoar. (This was before the Lord destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah.) 11 So Lot chose to move east and live in the Jordan Valley. In this way Abram and Lot separated. 12 Abram lived in the land of Canaan. But Lot lived among the cities in the Jordan Valley. He moved very near to Sodom. 13 Now the people of Sodom were very evil. They were always sinning against the Lord.
14 After Lot left, the Lord said to Abram, “Look all around you. Look north and south and east and west. 15 All this land that you see I will give to you and your descendants forever. 16 I will make your descendants as many as the dust of the earth. If anyone could count the dust on the earth, he could count your people. 17 Get up! Walk through all this land. I am now giving it to you.”
18 So Abram moved his tents. He went to live near the great trees of Mamre. This was at the city of Hebron. There he built an altar to the Lord.

8 亞伯蘭就對羅得說：「你我不可以相爭，你的牧人和我的牧人也不可以相爭，因為我們是一家人。 9 遍地不都在你眼前嗎？請你離開我吧！你向左，我就向右；你向右，我就向左。」 10 羅得舉目，看見約旦河整個平原，直到瑣珥，都是水源充足之地。在耶和華未毀滅所多瑪、蛾摩拉以前，那地好像耶和華的園子，又像埃及地。 11 於是羅得選擇了約旦河整個平原。羅得往東遷移，他們就彼此分開了。 12 亞伯蘭住在迦南地；羅得住在平原的城鎮，他漸漸遷移帳棚，直到所多瑪。 13 所多瑪人在耶和華面前罪大惡極。

Abram and Lot Separate
13 So Abram went up from Egypt(A) to the Negev,(B) with his wife and everything he had, and Lot(C) went with him. 2 Abram had become very wealthy(D) in livestock(E) and in silver and gold.
3 From the Negev(F) he went from place to place until he came to Bethel,(G) to the place between Bethel and Ai(H) where his tent had been earlier 4 and where he had first built an altar.(I) There Abram called on the name of the Lord.(J)
5 Now Lot,(K) who was moving about with Abram, also had flocks and herds and tents. 6 But the land could not support them while they stayed together, for their possessions were so great that they were not able to stay together.(L) 7 And quarreling(M) arose between Abram’s herders and Lot’s. The Canaanites(N) and Perizzites(O) were also living in the land(P) at that time.
8 So Abram said to Lot,(Q) “Let’s not have any quarreling between you and me,(R) or between your herders and mine, for we are close relatives.(S) 9 Is not the whole land before you? Let’s part company. If you go to the left, I’ll go to the right; if you go to the right, I’ll go to the left.”(T)
10 Lot looked around and saw that the whole plain(U) of the Jordan toward Zoar(V) was well watered, like the garden of the Lord,(W) like the land of Egypt.(X) (This was before the Lord destroyed Sodom(Y) and Gomorrah.)(Z) 11 So Lot chose for himself the whole plain of the Jordan and set out toward the east. The two men parted company: 12 Abram lived in the land of Canaan,(AA) while Lot(AB) lived among the cities of the plain(AC) and pitched his tents near Sodom.(AD) 13 Now the people of Sodom(AE) were wicked and were sinning greatly against the Lord.(AF)
14 The Lord said to Abram after Lot had parted from him, “Look around from where you are, to the north and south, to the east and west.(AG) 15 All the land that you see I will give to you and your offspring[a] forever.(AH) 16 I will make your offspring like the dust of the earth, so that if anyone could count the dust, then your offspring could be counted.(AI) 17 Go, walk through the length and breadth of the land,(AJ) for I am giving it to you.”(AK)
18 So Abram went to live near the great trees of Mamre(AL) at Hebron,(AM) where he pitched his tents. There he built an altar to the Lord.(AN)
