20 在那些日子，希西家病得要死了。亚摩斯的儿子以赛亚先知来见他，对他说：“耶和华这样说：‘你要留遗命给你的家人，因为你将要死，不能再活了。’” 2 他却转脸向墙，祷告耶和华说： 3 “唉，耶和华啊！求你记念我曾怎样以真诚和完全的心在你面前行事为人，我所行的都是你看为善的事。”希西家就痛哭起来。 4 以赛亚还没有出到中院，耶和华的话就临到他说： 5 “你回去对我子民的君主希西家说：‘你祖大卫的 神耶和华这样说：我听见了你的祷告，看见了你的眼泪。看哪，我必医治你，第三日你要上耶和华的殿。 6 我必把十五年的寿命增添给你。我要拯救你和这城脱离亚述王的手，又要因我自己和我仆人大卫的缘故保护这城。’” 7 以赛亚说：“取一片无花果饼来。”他们就取了来，把它贴在疮上。希西家就痊愈了。
8 希西家对以赛亚说：“有甚么征兆告诉我耶和华必医治我，第三日我能上耶和华的殿呢？” 9 以赛亚说：“这就是耶和华给你的征兆，显明耶和华必成全他应许的这事：你要日影向前进十级或是倒退十级呢？” 10 希西家说：“日影延伸十级容易；不，我要日影倒后十级。” 11 以赛亚先知呼求耶和华，他就使日晷上的日影，就是在亚哈斯的日晷上已经下移的日影倒退了十级。

16 以赛亚对希西家说：“你要听耶和华的话： 17 ‘看哪，日子快到，那时你宫中的一切和你的祖先所积存直到今日的一切，都要被掠到巴比伦去，没有一样留下。’这是耶和华说的。 18 并且你的众子中，就是由你所出，你所生的，有一部分要被掳去。他们要在巴比伦王的王宫中当太监。” 19 希西家对以赛亚说：“你所说耶和华的话很好。”他心里说：“在我的日子有和平和安全不是很好吗？” 20 希西家其余的事迹和他所有的英勇事迹，以及他做水池和引水道，把水引入城里的事，不是都写在犹大列王的年代志上吗？ 21 希西家和他的祖先一同长眠，他的儿子玛拿西就接续他作王。

Hezekiah’s Sickness and Recovery
20 About that time Hezekiah became deathly ill, and the prophet Isaiah son of Amoz went to visit him. He gave the king this message: “This is what the Lord says: Set your affairs in order, for you are going to die. You will not recover from this illness.”
2 When Hezekiah heard this, he turned his face to the wall and prayed to the Lord, 3 “Remember, O Lord, how I have always been faithful to you and have served you single-mindedly, always doing what pleases you.” Then he broke down and wept bitterly.
4 But before Isaiah had left the middle courtyard,[a] this message came to him from the Lord: 5 “Go back to Hezekiah, the leader of my people. Tell him, ‘This is what the Lord, the God of your ancestor David, says: I have heard your prayer and seen your tears. I will heal you, and three days from now you will get out of bed and go to the Temple of the Lord. 6 I will add fifteen years to your life, and I will rescue you and this city from the king of Assyria. I will defend this city for my own honor and for the sake of my servant David.’”
7 Then Isaiah said, “Make an ointment from figs.” So Hezekiah’s servants spread the ointment over the boil, and Hezekiah recovered!
8 Meanwhile, Hezekiah had said to Isaiah, “What sign will the Lord give to prove that he will heal me and that I will go to the Temple of the Lord three days from now?”
9 Isaiah replied, “This is the sign from the Lord to prove that he will do as he promised. Would you like the shadow on the sundial to go forward ten steps or backward ten steps?[b]”
10 “The shadow always moves forward,” Hezekiah replied, “so that would be easy. Make it go ten steps backward instead.” 11 So Isaiah the prophet asked the Lord to do this, and he caused the shadow to move ten steps backward on the sundial[c] of Ahaz!
Envoys from Babylon
12 Soon after this, Merodach-baladan[d] son of Baladan, king of Babylon, sent Hezekiah his best wishes and a gift, for he had heard that Hezekiah had been very sick. 13 Hezekiah received the Babylonian envoys and showed them everything in his treasure-houses—the silver, the gold, the spices, and the aromatic oils. He also took them to see his armory and showed them everything in his royal treasuries! There was nothing in his palace or kingdom that Hezekiah did not show them.
14 Then Isaiah the prophet went to King Hezekiah and asked him, “What did those men want? Where were they from?”
Hezekiah replied, “They came from the distant land of Babylon.”
15 “What did they see in your palace?” Isaiah asked.
“They saw everything,” Hezekiah replied. “I showed them everything I own—all my royal treasuries.”
16 Then Isaiah said to Hezekiah, “Listen to this message from the Lord: 17 The time is coming when everything in your palace—all the treasures stored up by your ancestors until now—will be carried off to Babylon. Nothing will be left, says the Lord. 18 Some of your very own sons will be taken away into exile. They will become eunuchs who will serve in the palace of Babylon’s king.”
19 Then Hezekiah said to Isaiah, “This message you have given me from the Lord is good.” For the king was thinking, “At least there will be peace and security during my lifetime.”
20 The rest of the events in Hezekiah’s reign, including the extent of his power and how he built a pool and dug a tunnel[e] to bring water into the city, are recorded in The Book of the History of the Kings of Judah. 21 Hezekiah died, and his son Manasseh became the next king.

Хвороба Езекії
20 На ту пору Езекія захворів і лежав при смерті. Пророк Ісая, син Амоса, навідався до нього і сказав: «Ось що Господь мовив: „Віддай останні розпорядження в домі, бо ти вже не одужаєш, незабаром ти помреш”».
2 Езекія відвернувся до стіни обличчям й почав молитися Господу. 3 Він сказав: «Господи, благаю Тебе, згадай, я вірно й щиросердно служив Тобі, я робив те, що було добре в Твоїх очах». А потім Езекія гірко заридав.
4 Ще не встиг Ісая вийти з внутрішнього подвір’я, як до нього долинуло Господнє слово: 5 «Повернися й скажи Езекії, царю Мого народу, про те, що говорить Господь Бог твого пращура Давида: „Я почув твою молитву й побачив твої сльози. Я тебе зцілю, і третього дня ти піднімешся у храм Господній. 6 Я вирішив продовжити твоє життя ще на п’ятнадцять років. Я визволю тебе й це місто з рук ассирійського царя. Я стану на захист цього міста заради Себе й заради слуги Мого Давида”».
7 Тоді Ісая сказав: «Приготуй припарку із смокви й приклади її до рани». Так і зробили, вони приклали до болячки припарку, і він одужав.
8 Езекія спитав Ісаю: «Який буде мені знак, що Господь мене зцілив і що я вже на третій день зможу піти до храму Господнього?»
9 Ісая відповів: «Ось так Господь дасть тобі зрозуміти, що Він виконає все, що пообіцяв. Чи бажаєш, щоб тінь упала вперед на десять кроків, чи нехай упаде назад на десять кроків?»
10 І Езекія сказав: «Нема нічого простішого, щоб тінь упала на десять кроків уперед. Нехай вона впаде на десять кроків назад».
11 Тоді пророк Езекія звернувся до Господа, і Господь змусив тінь упасти на десять кроків назад, тож вона піднялася якраз на Агазові сходи.
Провіщення про вавилонський полон
12 На той час Меродах-Баладан, син вавилонського царя Баладана, прислав Езекії листи й дарунок, бо довідався, що Езекія хворів. 13 Езекія прийняв посланців і показав їм усе, що зберігалося у скарбницях: срібло, золото, духмяні спеції, дорогоцінні олії, зброю—все, що можна було знайти в його коморах. Нічого не лишилося такого ні в палаці, ні в царстві, чого б не показав їм Езекія.
14 Потім пророк Ісая прийшов до царя Езекії й запитав його: «Про що говорили ті люди й звідки вони прибули до тебе?» Езекія відповів: «Вони завітали з далекого краю, з Вавилона».
15 Ісая спитав: «А що вони побачили у твоєму домі?» «Вони бачили все в моєму домі,—відповів Езекія.—Не залишилося нічого в коморах, чого б я їм не показав».
16 На це Ісая промовив: «Послухай-но, що говорить Господь: 17 „Прийде неодмінно той час, коли все, що є в твоєму палаці і все, що донині твої предки назбирали, буде перевезено до Вавилона. Господь обіцяє, що нічого не залишиться. 18 А деяких твоїх нащадків, які в тебе народяться, твоя плоть і кров, буде забрано, і стануть вони євнухами[a] в палаці вавилонського царя”».
19 «Господнє слово, яке ти мені передав,—добре»,—відповів Езекія. Бо подумав: «За мого життя буде мир і спокій».
20 А щодо інших подій за часів правління Езекії та всіх його досягнень: як він зробив озеро і проклав канал, підвівши до міста воду, то всі вони описані у книзі Хронік Царів Юдеї.
21 Езекія спочив коло своїх батьків, а після нього царем став його син Манассія.
