2 耶和华用旋风接以利亚升天之前，以利亚和以利沙正在离开吉甲的路上。 2 以利亚对以利沙说：“你留在这里吧，耶和华吩咐我去伯特利。”以利沙说：“我凭永活的耶和华和你的性命起誓，我决不离开你。”于是二人前往伯特利。 3 伯特利的众先知出来见以利沙，问他：“你知道耶和华今天要接走你师傅吗？”他说：“我知道，请不要作声。”

9 到对岸后，以利亚对以利沙说：“在我被接走之前，你要我为你做什么？”以利沙说：“请将你的灵加倍地给我。” 10 以利亚说：“这是个很难的要求。不过，我被接走的时候，如果你看得见我，就可以得到，否则就得不到。” 11 他们边走边谈，忽然有火马拉的火车把他们二人隔开，以利亚乘着旋风升上了天。 12 以利沙见此情景，便喊道：“我父啊！我父啊！以色列的战车和骑兵啊！”以利沙见以利亚消失在天空中，就悲伤地把自己的衣服撕成两半。
13 他拿起以利亚身上掉下来的外衣，回到约旦河边， 14 用它击打河水，说：“以利亚的上帝耶和华在哪里呢？”河水就左右分开，以利沙便过了河。
15 耶利哥的先知们从远处看见他，就说：“以利亚的灵降在以利沙身上了。”他们就上前迎接，俯伏在他面前， 16 说：“仆人们这里有五十个壮士，请让他们去寻找你师傅吧，或许耶和华的灵把他放在某座山上或某个山谷里了。”以利沙说：“你们不要派人去找了。” 17 他们再三恳求，以利沙难以推辞，就让他们派人去了。他们派去了五十人，找了三天也没有找到。 18 他们回来的时候，以利沙仍在耶利哥。他对他们说：“我不是早就告诉你们不要去吗？”
以利沙行神迹
19 耶利哥城的人对以利沙说：“我主，你看这城地势很好，只是水不好，地里长不出庄稼。” 20 以利沙说：“拿一个新碗装些盐给我。”他们就去照办。 21 以利沙走到水源那里，把盐倒在水中说：“耶和华说，‘我洁净了这水，从此它不会再使人死亡，也不会再使土地贫瘠。’” 22 果然如以利沙所说，那里的水变好了，直到如今。
23 以利沙从那里去伯特利，正在赶路的时候，从城里出来一群少年讥笑他说：“秃头，上去吧！秃头，上去吧！” 24 以利沙转身看着他们，奉耶和华的名咒诅他们。林中随即走出来两只母熊，咬死了其中的四十二个少年。 25 以利沙从伯特利上了迦密山，又从迦密山回到撒玛利亚。

Elijah Taken Up to Heaven
2 When the Lord was about to take(A) Elijah up to heaven in a whirlwind,(B) Elijah and Elisha(C) were on their way from Gilgal.(D) 2 Elijah said to Elisha, “Stay here;(E) the Lord has sent me to Bethel.”
But Elisha said, “As surely as the Lord lives and as you live, I will not leave you.”(F) So they went down to Bethel.
3 The company(G) of the prophets at Bethel came out to Elisha and asked, “Do you know that the Lord is going to take your master from you today?”
“Yes, I know,” Elisha replied, “so be quiet.”
4 Then Elijah said to him, “Stay here, Elisha; the Lord has sent me to Jericho.(H)”
And he replied, “As surely as the Lord lives and as you live, I will not leave you.” So they went to Jericho.
5 The company(I) of the prophets at Jericho went up to Elisha and asked him, “Do you know that the Lord is going to take your master from you today?”
“Yes, I know,” he replied, “so be quiet.”
6 Then Elijah said to him, “Stay here;(J) the Lord has sent me to the Jordan.”(K)
And he replied, “As surely as the Lord lives and as you live, I will not leave you.”(L) So the two of them walked on.
7 Fifty men from the company of the prophets went and stood at a distance, facing the place where Elijah and Elisha had stopped at the Jordan. 8 Elijah took his cloak,(M) rolled it up and struck(N) the water with it. The water divided(O) to the right and to the left, and the two of them crossed over on dry(P) ground.
9 When they had crossed, Elijah said to Elisha, “Tell me, what can I do for you before I am taken from you?”
“Let me inherit a double(Q) portion of your spirit,”(R) Elisha replied.
10 “You have asked a difficult thing,” Elijah said, “yet if you see me when I am taken from you, it will be yours—otherwise, it will not.”
11 As they were walking along and talking together, suddenly a chariot of fire(S) and horses of fire appeared and separated the two of them, and Elijah went up to heaven(T) in a whirlwind.(U) 12 Elisha saw this and cried out, “My father! My father! The chariots(V) and horsemen of Israel!” And Elisha saw him no more. Then he took hold of his garment and tore(W) it in two.
13 Elisha then picked up Elijah’s cloak that had fallen from him and went back and stood on the bank of the Jordan. 14 He took the cloak(X) that had fallen from Elijah and struck(Y) the water with it. “Where now is the Lord, the God of Elijah?” he asked. When he struck the water, it divided to the right and to the left, and he crossed over.
15 The company(Z) of the prophets from Jericho, who were watching, said, “The spirit(AA) of Elijah is resting on Elisha.” And they went to meet him and bowed to the ground before him. 16 “Look,” they said, “we your servants have fifty able men. Let them go and look for your master. Perhaps the Spirit(AB) of the Lord has picked him up(AC) and set him down on some mountain or in some valley.”
“No,” Elisha replied, “do not send them.”
17 But they persisted until he was too embarrassed(AD) to refuse. So he said, “Send them.” And they sent fifty men, who searched for three days but did not find him. 18 When they returned to Elisha, who was staying in Jericho, he said to them, “Didn’t I tell you not to go?”
Healing of the Water
19 The people of the city said to Elisha, “Look, our lord, this town is well situated, as you can see, but the water is bad and the land is unproductive.”
20 “Bring me a new bowl,” he said, “and put salt in it.” So they brought it to him.
21 Then he went out to the spring and threw(AE) the salt into it, saying, “This is what the Lord says: ‘I have healed this water. Never again will it cause death or make the land unproductive.’” 22 And the water has remained pure(AF) to this day, according to the word Elisha had spoken.
Elisha Is Jeered
23 From there Elisha went up to Bethel. As he was walking along the road, some boys came out of the town and jeered(AG) at him. “Get out of here, baldy!” they said. “Get out of here, baldy!” 24 He turned around, looked at them and called down a curse(AH) on them in the name(AI) of the Lord. Then two bears came out of the woods and mauled forty-two of the boys. 25 And he went on to Mount Carmel(AJ) and from there returned to Samaria.

9 And it came to pass, when they were gone over, that Elijah said unto Elisha, Ask what I shall do for thee, before I be taken away from thee. And Elisha said, I pray thee, let a double portion of thy spirit be upon me.
10 And he said, Thou hast asked a hard thing: nevertheless, if thou see me when I am taken from thee, it shall be so unto thee; but if not, it shall not be so.
11 And it came to pass, as they still went on, and talked, that, behold, there appeared a chariot of fire, and horses of fire, and parted them both asunder; and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven.
12 And Elisha saw it, and he cried, My father, my father, the chariot of Israel, and the horsemen thereof. And he saw him no more: and he took hold of his own clothes, and rent them in two pieces.
13 He took up also the mantle of Elijah that fell from him, and went back, and stood by the bank of Jordan;
14 And he took the mantle of Elijah that fell from him, and smote the waters, and said, Where is the Lord God of Elijah? and when he also had smitten the waters, they parted hither and thither: and Elisha went over.
15 And when the sons of the prophets which were to view at Jericho saw him, they said, The spirit of Elijah doth rest on Elisha. And they came to meet him, and bowed themselves to the ground before him.
16 And they said unto him, Behold now, there be with thy servants fifty strong men; let them go, we pray thee, and seek thy master: lest peradventure the Spirit of the Lord hath taken him up, and cast him upon some mountain, or into some valley. And he said, Ye shall not send.
17 And when they urged him till he was ashamed, he said, Send. They sent therefore fifty men; and they sought three days, but found him not.
18 And when they came again to him, (for he tarried at Jericho,) he said unto them, Did I not say unto you, Go not?
19 And the men of the city said unto Elisha, Behold, I pray thee, the situation of this city is pleasant, as my lord seeth: but the water is naught, and the ground barren.
20 And he said, Bring me a new cruse, and put salt therein. And they brought it to him.
21 And he went forth unto the spring of the waters, and cast the salt in there, and said, Thus saith the Lord, I have healed these waters; there shall not be from thence any more death or barren land.
22 So the waters were healed unto this day, according to the saying of Elisha which he spake.
23 And he went up from thence unto Bethel: and as he was going up by the way, there came forth little children out of the city, and mocked him, and said unto him, Go up, thou bald head; go up, thou bald head.
24 And he turned back, and looked on them, and cursed them in the name of the Lord. And there came forth two she bears out of the wood, and tare forty and two children of them.
25 And he went from thence to mount Carmel, and from thence he returned to Samaria.

2 Ora, quando l'Eterno volle portare in cielo Elia in un turbine, Elia partí da Ghilgal con Eliseo.
2 Allora Elia disse ad Eliseo: «Fermati qui, ti prego, perché l'Eterno mi manda fino a Bethel». Ma Eliseo rispose: «Come è vero che l'Eterno vive e che tu stesso vivi, io non ti lascerò». Cosí discesero a Bethel.
3 I discepoli dei profeti che erano a Bethel andarono quindi a trovare Eliseo e gli dissero: «Sai che l'Eterno quest'oggi porterà via il tuo signore al di sopra di te?». Quegli rispose: «Sí, lo so; tacete!».
4 Poi Elia gli disse: «Eliseo, fermati qui, ti prego, perché l'Eterno mi manda a Gerico». Egli rispose: «Come è vero che l'Eterno vive e che tu stesso vivi, io non ti lascerò». Cosí discesero a Gerico.
5 Allora i discepoli dei profeti che erano a Gerico si avvicinarono a Eliseo e gli dissero: «Sai che l'Eterno quest'oggi porterà via il tuo signore al di sopra di te?». Egli rispose: «Sí, lo so; tacete!».
6 Poi Elia gli disse: «Fermati qui, ti prego, perché l'Eterno mi manda al Giordano». Egli rispose: «Come è vero che l'Eterno vive e che tu stesso vivi, io non ti lascerò». Cosí proseguirono il cammino assieme.
7 Ora cinquanta uomini tra i discepoli dei profeti li seguirono e si fermarono di fronte a loro, da lontano, mentre Elia ed Eliseo si fermarono sulla riva del Giordano.
8 Allora Elia prese il suo mantello, lo rotolò e percosse le acque, che si divisero, di qua e di là; cosí passarono entrambi all'asciutto.
9 Dopo che furono passati, Elia disse ad Eliseo: «Chiedi ciò che vuoi che io faccia per te, prima che sia portato via da te». Eliseo rispose: «Ti prego, fa' che una doppia porzione del tuo spirito venga su di me».
10 Elia disse: «Tu hai chiesto una cosa difficile; tuttavia, se mi vedrai quando sarò portato via da te, ciò ti sarà concesso, altrimenti non l'avrai».
11 Ora, mentre essi camminavano discorrendo, ecco un carro di fuoco, e cavalli di fuoco li separarono l'uno dall'altro, ed Elia salí al cielo in un turbine.
12 Eliseo vide ciò e si mise a gridare: «Padre mio, padre mio, carro d'Israele e sua cavalleria!». Poi non lo vide piú. Allora afferrò le sue vesti e le stracciò in due pezzi.
13 Raccolse quindi il mantello di Elia che gli era caduto di dosso, tornò indietro e si fermò sulla riva del Giordano.
14 Poi prese il mantello di Elia che gli era caduto di dosso, percosse le acque e disse: «Dov'è l'Eterno, il DIO di Elia?». Quando anch'egli ebbe percosso le acque, queste si divisero di qua e di là ed Eliseo passò.
15 Quando i discepoli dei profeti che erano a Gerico e stavano quindi di fronte al Giordano videro Eliseo, dissero: «Lo spirito di Elia si è posato su Eliseo». Poi gli andarono incontro, si inchinarono fino a terra davanti a lui
16 e gli dissero: «Ecco, ci sono fra i tuoi servi cinquanta uomini robusti; lascia che vadano a cercare il tuo signore nel caso che lo Spirito dell'Eterno l'avesse preso e gettato su qualche monte o in qualche valle». Eliseo rispose: «Non mandate nessuno».
17 Ma essi insistettero tanto con lui che egli ne fu confuso e disse: «Mandateli» Allora essi mandarono cinquanta uomini che cercarono Elia per tre giorni, ma non lo trovarono.
18 Quando essi tornarono da Eliseo, che si era fermato a Gerico, egli disse loro: «Non vi avevo detto: Non andate?».
19 Or gli abitanti della città dissero a Eliseo «Ecco, il soggiorno di questa città è piacevole, come il mio signore può constatare, ma le acque sono cattive e il paese è sterile».
20 Egli disse: «Portatemi un piatto nuovo e mettetevi del sale». Essi glielo portarono.
21 Allora egli si recò alla sorgente delle acque, vi gettò il sale e disse: «Cosí dice l'Eterno: "Io rendo sane queste acque, da esse non verrà piú né morte né sterilità"».
22 Così le acque sono rimaste sane fino al giorno d'oggi, secondo la parola che Eliseo aveva pronunciato.
23 Poi di là Eliseo salí a Bethel. Mentre egli saliva per la strada uscirono dalla città alcuni giovani e si misero a schernirlo, dicendo: «Sali, testa pelata! Sali, testa pelata».
24 Egli si voltò, li vide e li maledisse nel nome dell'Eterno; allora uscirono dalla foresta due orse, che fecero a pezzi quarantadue di quei giovani.
25 Di là Eliseo si recò sul monte Karmel, e di là tornò quindi a Samaria.
