耶和华责备亚哈谢
1 亚哈死后，摩押背叛以色列。 2 一天，亚哈谢从撒玛利亚王宫的楼台上掉下来，受了伤，就派使者去求问以革伦的神明巴力·西卜，看自己能否痊愈。 3 耶和华的天使对提斯比人以利亚说：“你去截住撒玛利亚王的使者，对他们说，‘你们为什么去求问以革伦的神明巴力·西卜？难道以色列没有上帝吗？’ 4 因此耶和华说，‘亚哈谢再也不能下床了，他必定死。’”以利亚就去了。
5 以利亚将天使的话告诉王的使者后，他们便回去见王。王问他们：“你们为什么这么快就回来了？” 6 他们答道：“有一个人在路上截住我们，要我们回来告诉你，耶和华对你说，‘你差人去求问以革伦的神明巴力·西卜，是因为以色列没有上帝吗？因此，你再也不能下床了，你必定死。’” 7 王又问他们：“在路上截住你们、对你们说这些话的，是什么样的人？” 8 他们答道：“那人身穿毛皮衣服，腰束皮带。”王说：“他是提斯比人以利亚。”

13 王再次派一个五十夫长率领五十人前去。五十夫长上去，双膝跪在以利亚面前，哀求道：“上帝的仆人啊，求你饶了我和你的五十名仆人的性命。 14 前两个五十夫长和他们的部下都被天上降下的火烧死了，现在求你饶我一命！” 15 耶和华的天使对以利亚说：“不要害怕，跟他去吧！”以利亚就起来跟他去见王。 16 以利亚对王说：“耶和华说，‘你差人去求问以革伦的神明巴力·西卜，是因为以色列没有上帝可以求问吗？因此，你再也不能下床了，你必定死。’”
17 亚哈谢果然死了，正如耶和华借以利亚所说的。他没有儿子，他兄弟约兰继位，那年是犹大王约沙法的儿子约兰执政第二年。 18 亚哈谢其他的事都记在以色列的列王史上。

Elijah Prophesies to Ahaziah
1 After Ahab’s death, Moab rebelled against Israel.
2 Now Ahaziah fell down from the balcony of his upper chamber in Samaria and was injured. So he sent messengers and instructed them, “Go inquire of Baal-Zebub[a] the god of Ekron, whether I will recover from this injury.”
3 But an angel of Adonai said to Elijah the Tishbite, “Arise, go up to meet the messengers of the king of Samaria, and say to them: ‘Is it because there is no God in Israel that you are going to inquire of Baal-Zebub the god of Ekron?’ 4 Therefore thus says Adonai: ‘You will not leave the bed you are lying on, for you will surely die.’” And Elijah departed.
5 When the messengers returned to the king, he asked them, “Why have you returned?”
6 They answered him, “A man came up to meet us and said to us: ‘Go, return to the king who sent you, and say to him, thus says Adonai, “Is it because there is no God in Israel that you are sending to inquire of Baal-Zebub the god of Ekron? Therefore you will not leave the bed you are lying on, for you will surely die.”’”
7 Then he said to them, “What kind of man was he that came up to meet you and told you these words?”
8 They answered him, “He was a hairy man with a leather belt around his waist.”
“It’s Elijah the Tishbite,” he said.
9 So the king sent a captain of 50 with his 50 to Elijah. When the captain went up to him, behold, he was sitting on the top of the hill. So he announced to him, “O man of God, by order of the king, come down!”
10 In response, Elijah said to the captain of 50, “If I am a man of God, let fire come down from heaven and consume you and your 50!” Then fire did come down from heaven and consumed him and his 50.
11 So the king again sent to him another captain of 50 with his 50 men, who addressed him and said, “O man of God, by order of the king, come down quickly!”
12 In response, Elijah said to them, “If I am a man of God, let fire come down from heaven and consume you and your 50.” And the fire of God came down from heaven and consumed him and his 50.
13 So the king again sent the captain of a third 50 with his 50. But when the third captain of 50 went up and came near, he knelt before Elijah, and begged him saying, “O man of God, please, let my life and the lives of these 50 servants of yours be precious in your eyes! 14 Behold, fire came down from heaven and consumed the two previous captains of 50 with their 50; but now let my life be precious in your eyes!”
15 Then the angel of Adonai said to Elijah, “Go down with him; do not be afraid of him.” So he arose and went down with him to the king.
16 Then Elijah said to the king, “Thus says Adonai: You have sent messengers to inquire of Baal-Zebub the god of Ekron. Is it because there is no God in Israel to inquire of His word? Therefore you will not leave the bed you are lying on, for you will surely die.” 17 So he died just as was the word of Adonai that Elijah had spoken.
Then Jehoram became king in his place, because Ahaziah had no son. It was in the second year of Jehoram son of King Jehoshaphat of Judah. 18 Now the rest of the deeds of Ahaziah which he did, are they not written in the book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel?

1 Then Moab rebelled against Israel after the death of Ahab.
2 And Ahaziah fell down through a lattice in his upper chamber that was in Samaria, and was sick: and he sent messengers, and said unto them, Go, enquire of Baalzebub the god of Ekron whether I shall recover of this disease.
3 But the angel of the Lord said to Elijah the Tishbite, Arise, go up to meet the messengers of the king of Samaria, and say unto them, Is it not because there is not a God in Israel, that ye go to enquire of Baalzebub the god of Ekron?
4 Now therefore thus saith the Lord, Thou shalt not come down from that bed on which thou art gone up, but shalt surely die. And Elijah departed.
5 And when the messengers turned back unto him, he said unto them, Why are ye now turned back?
6 And they said unto him, There came a man up to meet us, and said unto us, Go, turn again unto the king that sent you, and say unto him, Thus saith the Lord, Is it not because there is not a God in Israel, that thou sendest to enquire of Baalzebub the god of Ekron? therefore thou shalt not come down from that bed on which thou art gone up, but shalt surely die.
7 And he said unto them, What manner of man was he which came up to meet you, and told you these words?
8 And they answered him, He was an hairy man, and girt with a girdle of leather about his loins. And he said, It is Elijah the Tishbite.
9 Then the king sent unto him a captain of fifty with his fifty. And he went up to him: and, behold, he sat on the top of an hill. And he spake unto him, Thou man of God, the king hath said, Come down.
10 And Elijah answered and said to the captain of fifty, If I be a man of God, then let fire come down from heaven, and consume thee and thy fifty. And there came down fire from heaven, and consumed him and his fifty.
11 Again also he sent unto him another captain of fifty with his fifty. And he answered and said unto him, O man of God, thus hath the king said, Come down quickly.
12 And Elijah answered and said unto them, If I be a man of God, let fire come down from heaven, and consume thee and thy fifty. And the fire of God came down from heaven, and consumed him and his fifty.
13 And he sent again a captain of the third fifty with his fifty. And the third captain of fifty went up, and came and fell on his knees before Elijah, and besought him, and said unto him, O man of God, I pray thee, let my life, and the life of these fifty thy servants, be precious in thy sight.
14 Behold, there came fire down from heaven, and burnt up the two captains of the former fifties with their fifties: therefore let my life now be precious in thy sight.
15 And the angel of the Lord said unto Elijah, Go down with him: be not afraid of him. And he arose, and went down with him unto the king.
16 And he said unto him, Thus saith the Lord, Forasmuch as thou hast sent messengers to enquire of Baalzebub the god of Ekron, is it not because there is no God in Israel to enquire of his word? therefore thou shalt not come down off that bed on which thou art gone up, but shalt surely die.
17 So he died according to the word of the Lord which Elijah had spoken. And Jehoram reigned in his stead in the second year of Jehoram the son of Jehoshaphat king of Judah; because he had no son.
18 Now the rest of the acts of Ahaziah which he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?

2 Und Ahasja fiel in seinem Obergemach in Samaria durch das Gitter und wurde krank. Und er sandte Boten und sprach zu ihnen: Geht hin und befragt Baal-Sebub, den Gott von Ekron, ob ich von dieser Krankheit genesen werde!
3 Aber der Engel des Herrn sprach zu Elia, dem Tisbiter: Mache dich auf und geh den Boten des Königs von Samaria entgegen und sprich zu ihnen: Gibt es denn keinen Gott in Israel, dass ihr hingeht, um Baal-Sebub[a], den Gott von Ekron, zu befragen?
4 Und darum spricht der Herr: Du sollst von dem Bett, auf das du dich gelegt hast, nicht herunterkommen, sondern du wirst gewisslich sterben! Und Elia ging.
5 Die Boten aber kehrten wieder zu [dem König][b] zurück. Da fragte er sie: Warum kommt ihr wieder?
6 Sie sprachen zu ihm: Ein Mann kam herauf, uns entgegen, der sprach zu uns: Kehrt wieder zurück zu dem König, der euch gesandt hat, und sagt zu ihm: So spricht der Herr: »Gibt es denn keinen Gott in Israel, dass du hinsendest, um Baal-Sebub, den Gott von Ekron, zu befragen? Darum sollst du von dem Bett, auf das du dich gelegt hast, nicht herunterkommen, sondern du wirst gewisslich sterben!«
7 Da sprach er zu ihnen: Wie sah der Mann aus, der euch begegnete und dies zu euch sagte?
8 Sie sprachen zu ihm: Der Mann trug einen Mantel aus Ziegenhaaren und einen ledernen Gürtel um seine Lenden. Er aber sprach: Es ist Elia, der Tisbiter!
9 Und er sandte einen Hauptmann über Fünfzig zu ihm, mit seinen fünfzig Leuten. Als der zu ihm hinaufkam, siehe, da saß er oben auf dem Berg. Er aber sprach zu ihm: Du Mann Gottes, der König sagt: Komm herab!
10 Aber Elia antwortete dem Hauptmann über Fünfzig und sprach zu ihm: Wenn ich ein Mann Gottes bin, so soll Feuer vom Himmel fallen[c] und dich und deine Fünfzig verzehren! Da fiel Feuer vom Himmel und verzehrte ihn und seine Fünfzig.
11 Und er sandte nochmals einen anderen Hauptmann über Fünfzig zu ihm mit seinen Fünfzig, der redete und sprach zu ihm: Du Mann Gottes, so spricht der König: Komm rasch herab!
12 Aber Elia antwortete und sprach zu ihnen: Wenn ich ein Mann Gottes bin, so soll Feuer vom Himmel fallen und dich und deine Fünfzig verzehren! Da fiel das Feuer Gottes vom Himmel und verzehrte ihn und seine Fünfzig.
13 Da sandte er noch einen dritten Hauptmann über Fünfzig mit seinen Fünfzig. Als nun dieser dritte Hauptmann über Fünfzig zu ihm hinaufkam, beugte er seine Knie vor Elia und bat ihn und sprach zu ihm: Du Mann Gottes, lass doch mein Leben und das Leben deiner Knechte, dieser Fünfzig, etwas vor dir gelten!
14 Siehe, das Feuer ist vom Himmel gefallen und hat die ersten zwei Hauptleute über Fünfzig samt ihren Fünfzig vertilgt. Nun aber lass mein Leben etwas vor dir gelten!
15 Da sprach der Engel des Herrn zu Elia: Geh mit ihm hinab und fürchte dich nicht vor ihm! Und er machte sich auf und ging mit ihm hinab zum König.
16 Und er sprach zu ihm: So spricht der Herr: Weil du Boten hingesandt hast, um Baal-Sebub, den Gott von Ekron, befragen zu lassen, als gäbe es keinen Gott in Israel, dessen Wort man befragen könnte — [deshalb] sollst du von dem Bett, auf das du dich gelegt hast, nicht herunterkommen, sondern du wirst gewisslich sterben!
17 So starb er, nach dem Wort des Herrn, das Elia geredet hatte. Und Joram wurde König an seiner Stelle im zweiten Jahr Jorams, des Sohnes Josaphats, des Königs von Juda; denn er hatte keinen Sohn.
18 Was aber mehr von Ahasja zu sagen ist,[d] was er getan hat, ist das nicht aufgezeichnet im Buch der Chronik der Könige von Israel?
