瘟疫之灾
9 耶和华对摩西说：“你再进宫见法老，告诉他，‘希伯来人的上帝耶和华说，让我的子民去事奉我。 2 如果你不让他们走，继续扣留他们， 3 我就会使你田间所有的牲畜，包括马、驴、骆驼和牛羊，都染上严重的瘟疫。 4 但我要把埃及和以色列的牲畜分开，以色列人的牲畜必丝毫无损。’” 5 耶和华定了日期，说：“明天耶和华必在此地行这事。” 6 第二天，耶和华就这样行了，埃及的牲畜都死了，但以色列人的牲畜一头也没死。 7 法老派人去探查，发现以色列人的牲畜真的安然无恙。可是，他仍然顽固，不肯让以色列人离开。

9 Gå tillbaka till Farao, sa Herren till Mose, och säg till honom: 'Herren, hebreernas Gud, befaller dig att släppa sitt folk så att det kan gå och offra till honom.

3 ska Gud visa sin makt och sända pest som dödar din boskap, dina hästar, åsnor, kameler och dina fårhjordar.
4 Men pesten ska bara drabba egyptiernas boskap, inget av de djur som tillhör Israel ska dö.'
5 Herren meddelade att pesten skulle komma redan dagen därpå,
6 och det gjorde den. All boskap som tillhörde egyptierna dog, men inte ett enda djur av Israels boskap blev ens sjukt.
7 Farao skickade då sina tjänare för att undersöka om det stämde att inte något enda djur bland Israels boskap hade dött. Inte ens när han upptäckte att det var på det sättet gav han med sig. Han vägrade att släppa folket.
Aska orsakar bölder
8 Då sa Herren till Mose och Aron: Ta aska från brännugnen. Mose ska kasta upp den mot himlen inför Faraos ögon,
9 och då ska det bildas damm över hela Egypten, och detta ska leda till att det uppstår bulnader på människor och djur över hela landet.
10 Då tog de aska från brännugnen och gick till Farao. Medan denne såg på, kastade Mose upp askan mot himlen, och alla, både människor och djur, fick bulnader.
11 Spåmännen kom inte heller undan, utan också de fick bulnader.
12 Men Herren förhärdade Faraos hjärta, så att han vägrade att höra på dem, precis som Herren hade sagt till Mose att det skulle ske.
En fruktansvärd hagelstorm
13 Sedan sa Herren till Mose: Gå upp tidigt i morgon bitti och säg till Farao: 'Herren, hebreernas Gud, säger: Släpp mitt folk, så att de kan hålla gudstjänst,
14 annars ska jag sända en plåga som verkligen ska bevisa för både dig och dina tjänare och allt folk i Egypten att det inte finns någon på hela jorden som är som jag.
15 Jag hade kunnat döda er alla,
16 men jag gjorde det inte, för jag ville visa dig och hela jorden min väldiga kraft.
17 Men du tror fortfarande att du är så mäktig att du kan trotsa min makt och vägra att släppa mitt folk.
18 Nåväl, i morgon vid den här tiden ska jag sända en väldig hagelstorm över hela landet, en storm vars like man aldrig sett sedan Egypten grundades.
19 Se nu till att du får in din boskap från fälten, för varje man och varje djur som finns ute kommer att dö av haglet.'

23 När Mose lyfte handen sände Herren hagel och ett fruktansvärt åskväder.
24 Det går inte ens att beskriva vad som hände. Aldrig tidigare i Egyptens historia hade det förekommit en sådan storm.
25 Hela Egypten lades i ruiner. Allt som fanns ute på fälten, både människor och djur, dödades. Träd slogs sönder och skörden förstördes.
26 Den enda plats i landet där det inte haglade den dagen var Gosen, där Israels folk bodde.
27 Farao skickade då bud efter Mose och Aron: Nu äntligen inser jag att det är mitt fel, bekände han. Det är Herren som har rätt, och jag och mitt folk har handlat orätt hela tiden.
28 Bed till Gud att han låter detta hagel upphöra, så ska jag låta er gå på en gång.
29 Ja, sa Mose. Så snart jag har lämnat staden ska jag räcka ut mina händer mot Herren, och då ska åskvädret och haglet sluta. Detta ska bevisa för dig att det är Herren som har makt över hela jorden,
30 men ändå kommer varken du eller dina tjänare att lyda Herren.
31 Allt lin och allt korn slogs ner och blev förstört, för kornet hade gått i ax, och linet stod i blom,
32 men vetet blev inte förstört, eftersom det ännu inte hade kommit upp ur jorden.
33 Mose lämnade Farao, gick ut ur staden och lyfte sina händer mot himlen. Åska, hagel och regn upphörde omedelbart.
34 När Farao såg det syndade både han och hans tjänare på nytt genom att envist vägra göra vad de hade lovat.
35 Faraos hjärta var fortfarande hårt, och han släppte inte folket, precis som Herren tidigare hade sagt till Mose.

2 For if thou refuse to let them go and wilt hold them still,
3 behold, the hand of the Lord is upon thy cattle which are in the field, upon the horses, upon the asses, upon the camels, upon the oxen, and upon the sheep. There shall be a very grievous pestilence.
4 And the Lord shall distinguish between the cattle of Israel and the cattle of Egypt; and there shall nothing die of all that belong to the children of Israel.’”
5 And the Lord appointed a set time, saying, “Tomorrow the Lord shall do this thing in the land.”
6 And the Lord did that thing on the morrow; and all the cattle of Egypt died, but of the cattle of the children of Israel died not one.
7 And Pharaoh sent, and behold, there was not one of the cattle of the Israelites dead. And the heart of Pharaoh was hardened, and he did not let the people go.
8 And the Lord said unto Moses and unto Aaron, “Take to you handfuls of ashes from the furnace, and let Moses sprinkle it toward the heaven in the sight of Pharaoh.
9 And it shall become small dust in all the land of Egypt, and shall be a boil breaking forth with blains, upon man and upon beast throughout all the land of Egypt.”
10 And they took ashes from the furnace and stood before Pharaoh, and Moses sprinkled it up toward heaven; and it became boils breaking forth with blains upon man and upon beast.
11 And the magicians could not stand before Moses because of the boils, for the boils were upon the magicians and upon all the Egyptians.
12 And the Lord hardened the heart of Pharaoh, and he hearkened not unto them, as the Lord had spoken unto Moses.
13 And the Lord said unto Moses, “Rise up early in the morning, and stand before Pharaoh and say unto him, ‘Thus saith the Lord God of the Hebrews: Let My people go, that they may serve Me.
14 For I will at this time send all My plagues upon thine heart, and upon thy servants and upon thy people, that thou mayest know that there is none like Me in all the earth.
15 For now I will stretch out My hand, that I may smite thee and thy people with pestilence, and thou shalt be cut off from the earth.
16 And in very deed, for this cause have I raised thee up: to show in thee My power, and that My name may be declared throughout all the earth.
17 As yet exaltest thou thyself against My people, that thou wilt not let them go?
18 Behold, tomorrow about this time I will cause it to rain a very grievous hail, such as hath not been in Egypt since the foundation thereof even until now.
19 Send therefore now, and gather thy cattle and all that thou hast in the field, for upon every man and beast which shall be found in the field and shall not be brought home, the hail shallcome down upon them, and they shall die.’”
20 He that feared the word of the Lord among the servants of Pharaoh made his servants and his cattle flee into the houses,
21 and he that regarded not the word of the Lord left his servants and his cattle in the field.
22 And the Lord said unto Moses, “Stretch forth thine hand toward heaven, that there may be hail in all the land of Egypt, upon man and upon beast and upon every herb of the field, throughout the land of Egypt.”
23 And Moses stretched forth his rod toward heaven; and the Lord sent thunder and hail, and the fire ran along upon the ground; and the Lord rained hail upon the land of Egypt.
24 So there was hail and fire mingled with the hail, very grievous, such as there was none like it in all the land of Egypt since it became a nation.
25 And the hail smote throughout all the land of Egypt all that was in the field, both man and beast; and the hail smote every herb of the field and broke every tree of the field.
26 Only in the land of Goshen, where the children of Israel were, was there no hail.
27 And Pharaoh sent and called for Moses and Aaron, and said unto them, “I have sinned this time. The Lord is righteous, and I and my people are wicked.
28 Entreat the Lord (for it is enough), that there be no more mighty thunderings and hail; and I will let you go, and ye shall stay no longer.”
29 And Moses said unto him, “As soon as I have gone out of the city, I will spread abroad my hands unto the Lord; and the thunder shall cease, neither shall there be any more hail, that thou mayest know that the earth is the Lord’S.
30 But as for thee and thy servants, I know that ye will not yet fear the Lord God.”
31 And the flax and the barley were smitten; for the barley was in the ear, and the flax was in bolls.
32 But the wheat and the rye were not smitten, for they were not grown up.
33 And Moses went out of the city from Pharaoh, and spread abroad his hands unto the Lord; and the thunder and hail ceased, and the rain was not poured upon the earth.
34 And when Pharaoh saw that the rain and the hail and the thunder had ceased, he sinned yet more and hardened his heart, he and his servants.
35 And the heart of Pharaoh was hardened, neither would he let the children of Israel go, as the Lord had spoken by Moses.

The Fifth Plague: Livestock Diseased
9 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Go to Pharaoh and say to him, ‘Thus says the Lord, the God of the Hebrews: Let my people go, so that they may serve me.(A) 2 For if you refuse to let them go and still hold them,(B) 3 the hand of the Lord will strike with a deadly pestilence your livestock in the field: the horses, the donkeys, the camels, the herds, and the flocks. 4 But the Lord will make a distinction between the livestock of Israel and the livestock of Egypt, so that nothing shall die of all that belongs to the Israelites.’ ”(C) 5 The Lord set a time, saying, “Tomorrow the Lord will do this thing in the land.” 6 And on the next day the Lord did so; all of the Egyptians’ livestock died, but none of the Israelites’ livestock died.(D) 7 Pharaoh inquired and found that not even one of the Israelites’ livestock had died. But the heart of Pharaoh was hardened, and he would not let the people go.(E)
The Sixth Plague: Boils
8 Then the Lord said to Moses and Aaron, “Take handfuls of soot from the kiln, and let Moses throw it in the air in the sight of Pharaoh. 9 It shall become dust all over the land of Egypt and shall cause festering boils on humans and animals throughout the whole land of Egypt.”(F) 10 So they took soot from the kiln and stood before Pharaoh, and Moses threw it in the air, and it caused festering boils on humans and animals. 11 The magicians could not stand before Moses because of the boils, for the boils afflicted the magicians as well as all the Egyptians. 12 But the Lord hardened the heart of Pharaoh, and he would not listen to them, just as the Lord had spoken to Moses.(G)
The Seventh Plague: Thunder and Hail
13 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Rise up early in the morning and present yourself before Pharaoh and say to him, ‘Thus says the Lord, the God of the Hebrews: Let my people go, so that they may serve me.(H) 14 For this time I will send all my plagues upon you yourself, your officials, and your people, so that you may know that there is no one like me in all the earth.(I) 15 Indeed, by now I could have stretched out my hand and struck you and your people with pestilence, and you would have been cut off from the earth.(J) 16 But this is why I have let you live: to show you my power and to make my name resound through all the earth.(K) 17 You are still exalting yourself against my people by not letting them go. 18 Tomorrow at this time I will cause the heaviest hail to fall that has ever fallen in Egypt from the day it was founded until now.(L) 19 Send, therefore, and have your livestock and everything that you have in the open field brought to a secure place; every human or animal that is in the open field and is not brought under shelter will die when the hail comes down upon them.’ ” 20 Those officials of Pharaoh who feared the word of the Lord hurried their slaves and livestock off to a secure place,(M) 21 but those who did not regard the word of the Lord left their slaves and livestock in the open field.
22 The Lord said to Moses, “Stretch out your hand toward heaven so that hail may fall on the whole land of Egypt, on humans and animals and all the plants of the field in the land of Egypt.”(N) 23 Then Moses stretched out his staff toward heaven, and the Lord sent thunder and hail, and fire came down on the earth. And the Lord rained hail on the land of Egypt;(O) 24 there was hail with fire flashing continually in the midst of it, such heavy hail as had never fallen in all the land of Egypt since it became a nation. 25 The hail struck down everything that was in the open field throughout all the land of Egypt, both human and animal; the hail also struck down all the plants of the field and shattered every tree in the field.(P) 26 Only in the land of Goshen, where the Israelites were, was there no hail.(Q)
27 Then Pharaoh summoned Moses and Aaron and said to them, “This time I have sinned; the Lord is in the right, and I and my people are in the wrong.(R) 28 Pray to the Lord! Enough of God’s thunder and hail! I will let you go; you need stay no longer.”(S) 29 Moses said to him, “As soon as I have gone out of the city, I will stretch out my hands to the Lord; the thunder will cease, and there will be no more hail, so that you may know that the earth is the Lord’s.(T) 30 But as for you and your officials, I know that you do not yet fear the Lord God.” 31 (Now the flax and the barley were ruined, for the barley was in the ear and the flax was in bud. 32 But the wheat and the spelt were not ruined, for they are late in coming up.) 33 So Moses left Pharaoh, went out of the city, and stretched out his hands to the Lord; then the thunder and the hail ceased, and the rain no longer poured down on the earth. 34 But when Pharaoh saw that the rain and the hail and the thunder had ceased, he sinned once more and hardened his heart, he and his officials. 35 So the heart of Pharaoh was hardened, and he would not let the Israelites go, just as the Lord had spoken through Moses.(U)

The Plague on Livestock
9 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Go to Pharaoh and say to him, ‘This is what the Lord, the God of the Hebrews, says: “Let my people go, so that they may worship(A) me.” 2 If you refuse to let them go and continue to hold them back, 3 the hand(B) of the Lord will bring a terrible plague(C) on your livestock in the field—on your horses, donkeys and camels and on your cattle, sheep and goats. 4 But the Lord will make a distinction between the livestock of Israel and that of Egypt,(D) so that no animal belonging to the Israelites will die.’”
5 The Lord set a time and said, “Tomorrow the Lord will do this in the land.” 6 And the next day the Lord did it: All the livestock(E) of the Egyptians died,(F) but not one animal belonging to the Israelites died. 7 Pharaoh investigated and found that not even one of the animals of the Israelites had died. Yet his heart(G) was unyielding and he would not let the people go.(H)
The Plague of Boils
8 Then the Lord said to Moses and Aaron, “Take handfuls of soot from a furnace and have Moses toss it into the air in the presence of Pharaoh. 9 It will become fine dust over the whole land of Egypt, and festering boils(I) will break out on people and animals throughout the land.”
10 So they took soot from a furnace and stood before Pharaoh. Moses tossed it into the air, and festering boils broke out on people and animals. 11 The magicians(J) could not stand before Moses because of the boils that were on them and on all the Egyptians. 12 But the Lord hardened Pharaoh’s heart(K) and he would not listen(L) to Moses and Aaron, just as the Lord had said to Moses.
The Plague of Hail
13 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Get up early in the morning, confront Pharaoh and say to him, ‘This is what the Lord, the God of the Hebrews, says: Let my people go, so that they may worship(M) me, 14 or this time I will send the full force of my plagues against you and against your officials and your people, so you may know(N) that there is no one like(O) me in all the earth. 15 For by now I could have stretched out my hand and struck you and your people(P) with a plague that would have wiped you off the earth. 16 But I have raised you up[a] for this very purpose,(Q) that I might show you my power(R) and that my name might be proclaimed in all the earth. 17 You still set yourself against my people and will not let them go. 18 Therefore, at this time tomorrow I will send the worst hailstorm(S) that has ever fallen on Egypt, from the day it was founded till now.(T) 19 Give an order now to bring your livestock and everything you have in the field to a place of shelter, because the hail will fall on every person and animal that has not been brought in and is still out in the field, and they will die.’”
20 Those officials of Pharaoh who feared(U) the word of the Lord hurried to bring their slaves and their livestock inside. 21 But those who ignored(V) the word of the Lord left their slaves and livestock in the field.
22 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Stretch out your hand toward the sky so that hail will fall all over Egypt—on people and animals and on everything growing in the fields of Egypt.” 23 When Moses stretched out his staff toward the sky, the Lord sent thunder(W) and hail,(X) and lightning flashed down to the ground. So the Lord rained hail on the land of Egypt; 24 hail fell and lightning flashed back and forth. It was the worst storm in all the land of Egypt since it had become a nation.(Y) 25 Throughout Egypt hail struck everything in the fields—both people and animals; it beat down everything growing in the fields and stripped every tree.(Z) 26 The only place it did not hail was the land of Goshen,(AA) where the Israelites were.(AB)
27 Then Pharaoh summoned Moses and Aaron. “This time I have sinned,”(AC) he said to them. “The Lord is in the right,(AD) and I and my people are in the wrong. 28 Pray(AE) to the Lord, for we have had enough thunder and hail. I will let you go;(AF) you don’t have to stay any longer.”
29 Moses replied, “When I have gone out of the city, I will spread out my hands(AG) in prayer to the Lord. The thunder will stop and there will be no more hail, so you may know that the earth(AH) is the Lord’s. 30 But I know that you and your officials still do not fear(AI) the Lord God.”
31 (The flax and barley(AJ) were destroyed, since the barley had headed and the flax was in bloom. 32 The wheat and spelt,(AK) however, were not destroyed, because they ripen later.)
33 Then Moses left Pharaoh and went out of the city. He spread out his hands toward the Lord; the thunder and hail stopped, and the rain no longer poured down on the land. 34 When Pharaoh saw that the rain and hail and thunder had stopped, he sinned again: He and his officials hardened their hearts. 35 So Pharaoh’s heart(AL) was hard and he would not let the Israelites go, just as the Lord had said through Moses.
