24 耶和华对摩西说：“你和亚伦、拿答、亚比户，并以色列长老中的七十人，都要上到我这里来，远远地下拜。 2 唯独你可以亲近耶和华，他们却不可亲近，百姓也不可和你一同上来。” 3 摩西下山，将耶和华的命令、典章都述说于百姓听，众百姓齐声说：“耶和华所吩咐的，我们都必遵行。” 4 摩西将耶和华的命令都写上。清早起来，在山下筑一座坛，按以色列十二支派立十二根柱子， 5 又打发以色列人中的少年人去献燔祭，又向耶和华献牛为平安祭。 6 摩西将血一半盛在盆中，一半洒在坛上。 7 又将约书念给百姓听，他们说：“耶和华所吩咐的，我们都必遵行。” 8 摩西将血洒在百姓身上，说：“你看，这是立约的血，是耶和华按这一切话与你们立约的凭据。”

24 Sedan sa han till Mose: ”Kom hit upp till Herren, du, Aron, Nadav, Avihu och sjuttio av de äldste i Israel, och tillbe på avstånd. 2 Mose ensam ska komma nära Herren och ingen av det övriga folket får komma upp med honom.”
3 Mose kom och förkunnade för folket vad Herren hade talat och gav dem hans stadgar och hela folket svarade med en mun: ”Vi ska göra allt vad Herren har sagt.”
4 Mose skrev ner alla Herrens ord och tidigt följande morgon byggde han ett altare vid bergets fot. Han reste tolv stenstoder för de tolv stammarna i Israel. 5 Därefter skickade han några unga israeliter att frambära brännoffer och tjurar som gemenskapsoffer till Herren. 6 Mose tog hälften av blodet från offerdjuren och hällde det i skålar. Den andra hälften stänkte han på altaret.
7 Sedan tog Mose förbundsboken och läste den för folket. De sa: ”Vi vill lyda och följa allt vad Herren har sagt.”
8 Då tog Mose blodet och stänkte på folket och sa: ”Detta blod bekräftar det förbund Herren har ingått med er i enlighet med alla dessa ord.”
9 Mose, Aron, Nadav, Avihu och sjuttio av de äldste gick upp på berget. 10 De såg Israels Gud och under hans fötter var det som ett golv av safirer, så klart som själva himlen. 11 Men han lyfte inte sin hand mot dessa Israels ledare. De fick se Gud och de åt och drack.
12 Herren sa till Mose: ”Kom upp till mig på berget och stanna här, så ska jag ge dig stentavlorna med lagen och budorden, som jag har skrivit ner för att undervisa folket.”
13 Då gick Mose iväg tillsammans med sin medhjälpare Josua och han gick upp på Guds berg. 14 Mose sa till de äldste: ”Stanna kvar här och vänta på oss tills vi kommer tillbaka. Aron och Hur är kvar hos er. Den som behöver få en fråga avgjord får vända sig till dem.”
15 När Mose gick upp på berget höljdes det i ett moln. 16 Herrens härlighet vilade över berget Sinai, och molnet täckte det i sex dagar. Den sjunde dagen kallade han på Mose från molnet. 17 Israeliterna såg Herrens härlighet som en förtärande eld på toppen av berget. 18 Mose gick upp på berget och in i molnet, och han stannade där uppe i fyrtio dagar och fyrtio nätter.

Israel Affirms the Covenant
24 Now He said to Moses, “Come up to the Lord, you and Aaron, (A)Nadab and Abihu, (B)and seventy of the elders of Israel, and worship from afar. 2 And Moses alone shall come near the Lord, but they shall not come near; nor shall the people go up with him.”
3 So Moses came and told the people all the words of the Lord and all the [a]judgments. And all the people answered with one voice and said, (C)“All the words which the Lord has said we will do.” 4 And Moses (D)wrote all the words of the Lord. And he rose early in the morning, and built an altar at the foot of the mountain, and twelve (E)pillars according to the twelve tribes of Israel. 5 Then he sent young men of the children of Israel, who offered (F)burnt offerings and sacrificed peace offerings of oxen to the Lord. 6 And Moses (G)took half the blood and put it in basins, and half the blood he sprinkled on the altar. 7 Then he (H)took the Book of the Covenant and read in the hearing of the people. And they said, “All that the Lord has said we will do, and be obedient.” 8 And Moses took the blood, sprinkled it on the people, and said, “This is (I)the blood of the covenant which the Lord has made with you according to all these words.”
On the Mountain with God
9 Then Moses went up, also Aaron, Nadab, and Abihu, and seventy of the elders of Israel, 10 and they (J)saw the God of Israel. And there was under His feet as it were a paved work of (K)sapphire stone, and it was like the (L)very[b] heavens in its clarity. 11 But on the nobles of the children of Israel He (M)did not [c]lay His hand. So (N)they saw God, and they (O)ate and drank.
12 Then the Lord said to Moses, (P)“Come up to Me on the mountain and be there; and I will give you (Q)tablets of stone, and the law and commandments which I have written, that you may teach them.”
13 So Moses arose with (R)his assistant Joshua, and Moses went up to the mountain of God. 14 And he said to the elders, “Wait here for us until we come back to you. Indeed, Aaron and (S)Hur are with you. If any man has a difficulty, let him go to them.” 15 Then Moses went up into the mountain, and (T)a cloud covered the mountain.
16 Now (U)the glory of the Lord rested on Mount Sinai, and the cloud covered it six days. And on the seventh day He called to Moses out of the midst of the cloud. 17 The sight of the glory of the Lord was like (V)a consuming fire on the top of the mountain in the eyes of the children of Israel. 18 So Moses went into the midst of the cloud and went up into the mountain. And (W)Moses was on the mountain forty days and forty nights.

2 And Moses alone shall come near the Lord: but they shall not come nigh; neither shall the people go up with him.
3 And Moses came and told the people all the words of the Lord, and all the judgments: and all the people answered with one voice, and said, All the words which the Lord hath said will we do.
4 And Moses wrote all the words of the Lord, and rose up early in the morning, and builded an altar under the hill, and twelve pillars, according to the twelve tribes of Israel.

10 And they saw the God of Israel: and there was under his feet as it were a paved work of a sapphire stone, and as it were the body of heaven in his clearness.
11 And upon the nobles of the children of Israel he laid not his hand: also they saw God, and did eat and drink.
12 And the Lord said unto Moses, Come up to me into the mount, and be there: and I will give thee tables of stone, and a law, and commandments which I have written; that thou mayest teach them.
13 And Moses rose up, and his minister Joshua: and Moses went up into the mount of God.
14 And he said unto the elders, Tarry ye here for us, until we come again unto you: and, behold, Aaron and Hur are with you: if any man have any matters to do, let him come unto them.
15 And Moses went up into the mount, and a cloud covered the mount.
16 And the glory of the Lord abode upon mount Sinai, and the cloud covered it six days: and the seventh day he called unto Moses out of the midst of the cloud.
17 And the sight of the glory of the Lord was like devouring fire on the top of the mount in the eyes of the children of Israel.
18 And Moses went into the midst of the cloud, and gat him up into the mount: and Moses was in the mount forty days and forty nights.
