Ratificación del pacto
24 El Señor dijo a Moisés: «Sube al monte y preséntate ante mí, junto con Aarón, Nadab y Abiú, y setenta de los jefes de Israel. Ellos podrán adorar a cierta distancia, 2 pero solo tú, Moisés, podrás acercarte a mí, el Señor. El resto del pueblo no deberá acercarse ni subir contigo».
3 Moisés fue y refirió al pueblo todas las palabras y leyes del Señor, y ellos respondieron a una voz: «Haremos todo lo que el Señor ha dicho». 4 Moisés puso entonces por escrito lo que el Señor había dicho.
A la mañana siguiente, madrugó y levantó un altar al pie del monte, y en representación de las doce tribus de Israel consagró doce piedras. 5 Luego envió a unos jóvenes israelitas para que ofrecieran al Señor novillos como holocaustos y sacrificios de comunión. 6 La mitad de la sangre la echó Moisés en unos tazones y la otra mitad la roció sobre el altar. 7 Después tomó el libro del pacto y lo leyó ante el pueblo. Ellos respondieron:
—Haremos todo lo que el Señor ha dicho y le obedeceremos.
8 Moisés tomó la sangre, roció al pueblo con ella y dijo:
—Esta es la sangre del pacto que, de acuerdo con en estas palabras, el Señor ha hecho con ustedes.
9 Moisés y Aarón, Nadab y Abiú, más los setenta jefes de Israel subieron 10 y vieron al Dios de Israel. Bajo sus pies había una especie de pavimento de zafiro, tan claro como el cielo mismo. 11 Y a pesar de que estos jefes de los israelitas contemplaron a Dios, él no les hizo daño. Así que comieron y bebieron juntos.
12 El Señor dijo a Moisés: «Sube a encontrarte conmigo en el monte y quédate allí. Voy a darte las tablas de piedra con la Ley y los mandamientos que he escrito para guiarlos en la vida».
13 Moisés subió al monte de Dios, acompañado por su asistente Josué, 14 pero dijo a los jefes: «Esperen aquí hasta que volvamos. Aarón y Hur se quedarán aquí con ustedes. Si alguno tiene un problema, que acuda a ellos».
15 En cuanto Moisés subió, una nube cubrió el monte 16 y la gloria del Señor se posó sobre el Sinaí. Seis días la nube cubrió el monte. Al séptimo día, el Señor llamó a Moisés desde el interior de la nube. 17 A los ojos de los israelitas, la gloria del Señor en la cumbre del monte parecía un fuego consumidor. 18 Moisés se internó en la nube, subió al monte y allí permaneció cuarenta días y cuarenta noches.

24 And he said unto Moses, Come up unto the Lord, thou, and Aaron, Nadab, and Abihu, and seventy of the elders of Israel; and worship ye afar off.
2 And Moses alone shall come near the Lord: but they shall not come nigh; neither shall the people go up with him.
3 And Moses came and told the people all the words of the Lord, and all the judgments: and all the people answered with one voice, and said, All the words which the Lord hath said will we do.
4 And Moses wrote all the words of the Lord, and rose up early in the morning, and builded an altar under the hill, and twelve pillars, according to the twelve tribes of Israel.
5 And he sent young men of the children of Israel, which offered burnt offerings, and sacrificed peace offerings of oxen unto the Lord.
6 And Moses took half of the blood, and put it in basons; and half of the blood he sprinkled on the altar.
7 And he took the book of the covenant, and read in the audience of the people: and they said, All that the Lord hath said will we do, and be obedient.
8 And Moses took the blood, and sprinkled it on the people, and said, Behold the blood of the covenant, which the Lord hath made with you concerning all these words.
9 Then went up Moses, and Aaron, Nadab, and Abihu, and seventy of the elders of Israel:
10 And they saw the God of Israel: and there was under his feet as it were a paved work of a sapphire stone, and as it were the body of heaven in his clearness.
11 And upon the nobles of the children of Israel he laid not his hand: also they saw God, and did eat and drink.
12 And the Lord said unto Moses, Come up to me into the mount, and be there: and I will give thee tables of stone, and a law, and commandments which I have written; that thou mayest teach them.
13 And Moses rose up, and his minister Joshua: and Moses went up into the mount of God.
14 And he said unto the elders, Tarry ye here for us, until we come again unto you: and, behold, Aaron and Hur are with you: if any man have any matters to do, let him come unto them.
15 And Moses went up into the mount, and a cloud covered the mount.
16 And the glory of the Lord abode upon mount Sinai, and the cloud covered it six days: and the seventh day he called unto Moses out of the midst of the cloud.
17 And the sight of the glory of the Lord was like devouring fire on the top of the mount in the eyes of the children of Israel.
18 And Moses went into the midst of the cloud, and gat him up into the mount: and Moses was in the mount forty days and forty nights.
