11 耶和华对摩西说：“我再使一样的灾殃临到法老和埃及，然后他必容你们离开这地。他容你们去的时候，总要催逼你们都从这地出去。 2 你要传于百姓的耳中，叫他们男女各人向邻舍要金器银器。” 3 耶和华叫百姓在埃及人眼前蒙恩，并且摩西在埃及地、法老臣仆和百姓的眼中看为极大。
4 摩西说：“耶和华这样说：‘约到半夜，我必出去巡行埃及遍地， 5 凡在埃及地，从坐宝座的法老直到磨子后的婢女所有的长子，以及一切头生的牲畜，都必死。 6 埃及遍地必有大哀号，从前没有这样的，后来也必没有。 7 至于以色列中，无论是人是牲畜，连狗也不敢向他们摇舌，好叫你们知道耶和华是将埃及人和以色列人分别出来。’ 8 你这一切臣仆都要俯伏来见我，说：‘求你和跟从你的百姓都出去’，然后我要出去。”于是，摩西气愤愤地离开法老，出去了。
9 耶和华对摩西说：“法老必不听你们，使我的奇事在埃及地多起来。” 10 摩西、亚伦在法老面前行了这一切奇事，耶和华使法老的心刚硬，不容以色列人出离他的地。

Death of the Firstborn Announced(A)
11 And the Lord said to Moses, “I will bring one more plague on Pharaoh and on Egypt. (B)Afterward he will let you go from here. (C)When he lets you go, he will surely drive you out of here altogether. 2 Speak now in the hearing of the people, and let every man ask from his neighbor and every woman from her neighbor, (D)articles of silver and articles of gold.” 3 (E)And the Lord gave the people favor in the sight of the Egyptians. Moreover the man (F)Moses was very great in the land of Egypt, in the sight of Pharaoh’s servants and in the sight of the people.
4 Then Moses said, “Thus says the Lord: (G)‘About midnight I will go out into the midst of Egypt; 5 and (H)all the firstborn in the land of Egypt shall die, from the firstborn of Pharaoh who sits on his throne, even to the firstborn of the female servant who is behind the handmill, and all the firstborn of the animals. 6 (I)Then there shall be a great cry throughout all the land of Egypt, (J)such as was not like it before, nor shall be like it again. 7 (K)But against none of the children of Israel (L)shall a dog [a]move its tongue, against man or beast, that you may know that the Lord does make a difference between the Egyptians and Israel.’ 8 And (M)all these your servants shall come down to me and bow down to me, saying, ‘Get out, and all the people who follow you!’ After that I will go out.” (N)Then he went out from Pharaoh in great anger.
9 But the Lord said to Moses, (O)“Pharaoh will not heed you, so that (P)My wonders may be multiplied in the land of Egypt.” 10 So Moses and Aaron did all these wonders before Pharaoh; (Q)and the Lord hardened Pharaoh’s heart, and he did not let the children of Israel go out of his land.

11 تب خداوند نے موسیٰ سے کہا، “فرعون اور مصر کے خلاف میں ایک آفت لا ؤں گا اس کے بعد وہ تم لوگوں کو مصر سے بھیج دیگا : وہ تم لو گوں کو یہ ملک چھو ڑ نے کے لئے دباؤ ڈا لے گا۔ 2 تم بنی اسرائیلیوں کو یہ پیغام ضرور دینا :’ تم سب مرد اور عورتیں اپنے پڑوسیوں سے چاندی اور سونے کی چیزیں مانگنا۔ 3 حداوند مصریوں کو تم لوگوں پر مہربان بنا ئے گا۔ مصری لوگ یہا ں تک کہ فرعون کے عہدید ار بھی پہلے سے موسیٰ کوعظیم شخصیت سمجھتے ہیں۔”‘
4 موسیٰ نے کہا، “خداوند کہتا ہے ، ’ آج تقریباً آدھی رات کے وقت میں مصر سے ہو کر گذروں گا ، 5 اور مصر کا ہر ایک پہلو ٹھا بیٹا مصر کے حاکم فرعون کے پہلو ٹھے بیٹے سے لے کر چکّی چلا نے وا لی خادمہ تک کا پہلا بیٹا مر جا ئے گا۔ پہلو ٹھے نر جانور بھی مریں گے۔ 6 مصر کی سر زمین پر رونا پیٹنا ہو گا۔ جیسا نہ ما ضی میں ہوا ہے نہ کبھی مستقبل میں ہو گا۔ لیکن کسی بھی اسرا ئیلیوں کو چوٹ نہیں پہنچا ئی جا ئے گی۔ 7 یہاں تک کہ اسرائیلی لوگوں کے کسی شخص یا جانور پر کتّا بھی نہیں بھونکے گا۔ اس طرح تم جان جاؤگے کہ میں نے بنی اسرائیلیوں کے ساتھ مصری لوگوں سے مختلف سلوک کیا۔ 8 تب تمہا رے تمام عہدیدار آئینگے اور وہ مجھے سجدہ کریں گے۔ وہ لوگ کہیں گے، “جا ؤ اور اپنے سبھی لوگوں کو اپنے ساتھ لے جا ؤ۔ تب میں نے فرعون کو غصّہ میں چھو ڑ دیا۔”‘
9 تب خداوند نے موسیٰ سے کہا، “فرعون نے تمہا ری بات نہیں سنی۔ کیوں؟ کیوں کہ میں اپنی عظیم طا قت مصر میں دکھا سکوں”۔ 10 یہی وجہ تھی کہ موسیٰ اور ہا رون نے فرعون کے سامنے یہ بڑے بڑے معجزے دکھا ئے۔ اور یہی وجہ ہے کہ خداوند نے فرعون کو اتنا ضدّی بنا یا۔ تاکہ وہ بنی اسرائیلیوں کو اپنا ملک چھو ڑنے نہیں دیگا۔
