10 耶和华对摩西说：“你进去见法老。我使他和他臣仆的心刚硬，为要在他们中间显我这些神迹， 2 并要叫你将我向埃及人所做的事，和在他们中间所行的神迹，传于你儿子和你孙子的耳中，好叫你们知道我是耶和华。” 3 摩西、亚伦就进去见法老，对他说：“耶和华希伯来人的神这样说：‘你在我面前不肯自卑要到几时呢？容我的百姓去，好侍奉我。 4 你若不肯容我的百姓去，明天我要使蝗虫进入你的境内， 5 遮满地面，甚至看不见地，并且吃那冰雹所剩的和田间所长的一切树木。 6 你的宫殿和你众臣仆的房屋，并一切埃及人的房屋，都要被蝗虫占满了。自从你祖宗和你祖宗的祖宗在世以来，直到今日，没有见过这样的灾。’”摩西就转身离开法老出去。 7 法老的臣仆对法老说：“这人为我们的网罗要到几时呢？容这些人去侍奉耶和华他们的神吧！埃及已经败坏了，你还不知道吗？” 8 于是摩西、亚伦被召回来见法老，法老对他们说：“你们去侍奉耶和华你们的神，但那要去的是谁呢？” 9 摩西说：“我们要和我们老的少的、儿子女儿同去，且把羊群牛群一同带去，因为我们务要向耶和华守节。” 10 法老对他们说：“我容你们和你们妇人孩子去的时候，耶和华与你们同在吧！你们要谨慎，因为有祸在你们眼前[a]。 11 不可都去，你们这壮年人去侍奉耶和华吧！因为这是你们所求的。”于是把他们从法老面前撵出去。
蝗灾
12 耶和华对摩西说：“你向埃及地伸杖，使蝗虫到埃及地上来，吃地上一切的菜蔬，就是冰雹所剩的。” 13 摩西就向埃及地伸杖，那一昼一夜，耶和华使东风刮在埃及地上，到了早晨，东风把蝗虫刮了来。 14 蝗虫上来，落在埃及的四境，甚是厉害，以前没有这样的，以后也必没有。 15 因为这蝗虫遮满地面，甚至地都黑暗了，又吃地上一切的菜蔬和冰雹所剩树上的果子。埃及遍地，无论是树木，是田间的菜蔬，连一点青的也没有留下。 16 于是法老急忙召了摩西、亚伦来，说：“我得罪耶和华你们的神，又得罪了你们。 17 现在求你，只这一次，饶恕我的罪，求耶和华你们的神，使我脱离这一次的死亡。” 18 摩西就离开法老去求耶和华。 19 耶和华转了极大的西风，把蝗虫刮起，吹入红海，在埃及的四境连一个也没有留下。 20 但耶和华使法老的心刚硬，不容以色列人去。
黑暗之灾
21 耶和华对摩西说：“你向天伸杖，使埃及地黑暗，这黑暗似乎摸得着。” 22 摩西向天伸杖，埃及遍地就乌黑了三天。 23 三天之久，人不能相见，谁也不敢起来离开本处，唯有以色列人家中都有亮光。 24 法老就召摩西来，说：“你们去侍奉耶和华，只是你们的羊群牛群要留下，你们的妇人孩子可以和你们同去。” 25 摩西说：“你总要把祭物和燔祭牲交给我们，使我们可以祭祀耶和华我们的神。 26 我们的牲畜也要带去，连一蹄也不留下，因为我们要从其中取出来，侍奉耶和华我们的神。我们未到那里，还不知道用什么侍奉耶和华。” 27 但耶和华使法老的心刚硬，不肯容他们去。 28 法老对摩西说：“你离开我去吧！你要小心，不要再见我的面，因为你见我面的那日，你就必死！” 29 摩西说：“你说得好，我必不再见你的面了。”

The Eighth Plague: Locusts(A)
10 Now the Lord said to Moses, “Go in to Pharaoh; (B)for I have hardened his heart and the hearts of his servants, (C)that I may show these signs of Mine before him, 2 and that (D)you may tell in the hearing of your son and your son’s son the mighty things I have done in Egypt, and My signs which I have done among them, that you may (E)know that I am the Lord.”
3 So Moses and Aaron came in to Pharaoh and said to him, “Thus says the Lord God of the Hebrews: ‘How long will you refuse to (F)humble yourself before Me? Let My people go, that they may (G)serve Me. 4 Or else, if you refuse to let My people go, behold, tomorrow I will bring (H)locusts into your territory. 5 And they shall cover the face of the earth, so that no one will be able to see the earth; and (I)they shall eat the residue of what is left, which remains to you from the hail, and they shall eat every tree which grows up for you out of the field. 6 They shall (J)fill your houses, the houses of all your servants, and the houses of all the Egyptians—which neither your fathers nor your fathers’ fathers have seen, since the day that they were on the earth to this day.’ ” And he turned and went out from Pharaoh.
7 Then Pharaoh’s (K)servants said to him, “How long shall this man be (L)a snare to us? Let the men go, that they may serve the Lord their God. Do you not yet know that Egypt is destroyed?”
8 So Moses and Aaron were brought again to Pharaoh, and he said to them, “Go, serve the Lord your God. Who are the ones that are going?”
9 And Moses said, “We will go with our young and our old; with our sons and our daughters, with our flocks and our herds we will go, for (M)we must hold a feast to the Lord.”
10 Then he said to them, “The Lord had better be with you when I let you and your little ones go! Beware, for evil is ahead of you. 11 Not so! Go now, you who are men, and serve the Lord, for that is what you desired.” And they were driven (N)out from Pharaoh’s presence.
12 Then the Lord said to Moses, (O)“Stretch out your hand over the land of Egypt for the locusts, that they may come upon the land of Egypt, and (P)eat every herb of the land—all that the hail has left.” 13 So Moses stretched out his rod over the land of Egypt, and the Lord brought an east wind on the land all that day and all that night. When it was morning, the east wind brought the locusts. 14 And (Q)the locusts went up over all the land of Egypt and rested on all the territory of Egypt. They were very severe; (R)previously there had been no such locusts as they, nor shall there be such after them. 15 For they (S)covered the face of the whole earth, so that the land was darkened; and they (T)ate every herb of the land and all the fruit of the trees which the hail had left. So there remained nothing green on the trees or on the plants of the field throughout all the land of Egypt.
16 Then Pharaoh called (U)for Moses and Aaron in haste, and said, (V)“I have sinned against the Lord your God and against you. 17 Now therefore, please forgive my sin only this once, and (W)entreat[a] the Lord your God, that He may take away from me this death only.” 18 So he (X)went out from Pharaoh and entreated the Lord. 19 And the Lord turned a very strong west wind, which took the locusts away and blew them (Y)into the Red Sea. There remained not one locust in all the territory of Egypt. 20 But the Lord (Z)hardened Pharaoh’s heart, and he did not let the children of Israel go.
The Ninth Plague: Darkness
21 Then the Lord said to Moses, (AA)“Stretch out your hand toward heaven, that there may be darkness over the land of Egypt, [b]darkness which may even be felt.” 22 So Moses stretched out his hand toward heaven, and there was (AB)thick darkness in all the land of Egypt (AC)three days. 23 They did not see one another; nor did anyone rise from his place for three days. (AD)But all the children of Israel had light in their dwellings.
24 Then Pharaoh called to Moses and (AE)said, “Go, serve the Lord; only let your flocks and your herds be kept back. Let your (AF)little ones also go with you.”
25 But Moses said, “You must also give [c]us sacrifices and burnt offerings, that we may sacrifice to the Lord our God. 26 Our (AG)livestock also shall go with us; not a hoof shall be left behind. For we must take some of them to serve the Lord our God, and even we do not know with what we must serve the Lord until we arrive there.”
27 But the Lord (AH)hardened Pharaoh’s heart, and he would not let them go. 28 Then Pharaoh said to him, (AI)“Get away from me! Take heed to yourself and see my face no more! For in the day you see my face you shall die!”
29 So Moses said, “You have spoken well. (AJ)I will never see your face again.”

10 خداوند نے موسیٰ سے کہا، “فرعو ن کے پاس جا ؤ میں نے اُسے اور اُس کے عہدے داروں کو ضدّی بنا دیا ہے۔ میں نے ایسا اس لئے کیا ہے کہ میں انہیں اپنے طاقتور معجزے دکھا سکوں۔ 2 میں نے یہ اِس لئے بھی کیا کہ تم اپنے بیٹے ، بیٹیوں اور پو تے پوتیوں سے اِن معجزوں اور عجیب نشانیوں کو بتا سکو جو میں نے مصر میں دکھا یا ہے۔ تب تم سب کو معلوم ہو گا کہ میں خداوند ہوں۔
3 اِس لئے موسیٰ اور ہا رون فرعون کے پاس گئے۔ اُنہوں نے اُس سے کہا، “عبرانی لوگوں کا خدا وند خدا کہتا ہے ، ’ تم میرے احکام کی تعمیل کر نے سے کب تک انکار کرو گے ؟ میرے لوگوں کو میری عبادت کر نے کے لئے جانے دو۔ 4 اگر تم میرے لوگوں کو جانے سے منع کر تے ہو تو میں کل تمہا رے ملک میں ٹڈیوں کو لا ؤں گا۔ 5 ٹڈیاں پو ری زمین کو ڈھانک لیں گی۔ٹڈیوں کی تعداد اتنی زیادہ ہو گی کہ تم زمین نہیں دیکھ سکو گے۔ جو کچھ بھی اولے بھرے آندھی سے بچ گئی ہے اسے ٹڈیاں کھا جا ئیں گی۔ ٹڈیاں کھیتوں میں درختوں کی ساری پتیاں کھا جائیں گی۔ 6 ٹڈیاں تمہا رے تمام گھروں تمہا رے تمام عہدیداروں کے گھروں اور مصر کے تمام گھروں میں بھر جا ئیں گی۔ کو ئی بھی پہلے کبھی جتنی ٹڈیاں مصر میں دیکھے ہونگے اس سے بھی زیادہ ٹڈیاں تم دیکھو گے۔”‘ تب موسیٰ پلٹا اور فرعون کو چھوڑ دیا۔
7 فرعون کے عہدیداروں نے اس سے پو چھا، “ہم لوگ کب تک ان لوگوں کے جال میں پھنسے رہیں گے۔ لوگوں کو ان کے خداوند خدا کی عبادت کر نے کے لئے جانے دو۔ کیا تجھے اب تک معلوم نہیں کہ مصر برباد ہو چکا ہے۔”
8 فرعون کے عہدیداروں نے موسیٰ اور ہا رون کو اپنے پاس واپس بُلا نے کو کہا۔ فرعون نے اُن سے کہا، “جا ؤ اور اپنے خداوند خدا کی عبادت کرو۔ لیکن مجھے بتا ؤ کہ دراصل کون کون جا رہا ہے ؟”
9 موسیٰ نے جواب دیا، “ہمارے جوان اور بوڑھے لوگ جا ئیں گے۔ اور ہم لوگ اپنے ساتھ اپنے بیٹوں اور بیٹیوں اور مینڈھے اور جانوروں کو بھی لے جا ئیں گے ِ۔ ہم سبھی جا ئیں گے۔ کیوں کہ یہ ہم سب لوگوں کے لئے خداوند کی تقریب ہو گی۔”
10 فرعون نے ان لوگوں سے کہا، “اس سے پہلے کہ میں تمہیں اور تمہا رے تمام بچوں کو مصر چھو ڑ کر جانے دوں یقیناً خداوند کو تمہا رے ساتھ ہو نا ہو گا۔ دیکھو تم لوگ بہت بُرا منصوبہ بنا رہے ہو۔ 11 صرف مرد جا سکتے ہیں اور خداوند کی عبادت کر سکتے ہیں۔ تُم نے ابتدا میں صرف یہی مطالبہ کیا تھا۔” تب فرعو ن نے موسیٰ اور ہا رون کو بھیج دیا۔
12 خداوند نے موسیٰ سے کہا، “مصر کی زمین کے اوپر اپنا ہا تھ اُٹھا ؤ۔ ٹڈیاں آ جا ئیں گی اور ٹڈیاں مصر کی تمام زمین پر پھیل جا ئیں گی۔ ٹڈیاں اولوں سے بچے ہو ئے اس زمین کے تمام درختوں کو کھا جا ئیں گی۔”
13 موسیٰ نے اپنے عصا کو ملک مصر کے اوپر اٹھا یا اور خداوند نے مشرق سے خوفناک آندھی چلا ئی۔ آندھی سا ر ا دن اور ساری رات چلتی رہی جب صبح ہوئی تو آندھی ٹڈیوں کو لا چکی تھی۔ 14 ٹڈیاں ملک مصر میں اُڑ کر آئیں اور زمین پر بیٹھ گئیں۔ مصر میں پہلے کبھی جتنی ٹڈیاں ہو ئی تھیں ان سے بھی زیادہ ٹڈیاں اس وقت تھیں اور اتنی تعداد میں وہاں ٹڈیاں پھر کبھی نہیں ہو ں گی۔ 15 ٹڈیوں نے زمین کو ڈھانک لیا اور سارے ملک میں اندھیرا چھا گیا۔ ٹڈیوں نے کھیتوں میں سارے پودوں کو کھا لیا۔ مصر میں ایک بھی درخت یا پودا نہیں تھا جس میں کو ئی پتہ بچا ہوا ہو۔
16 فرعون نے موسیٰ اور ہارون کو جلدی بُلا یا۔ فرعون نے کہا، “میں نے تمہا رے اور تمہا رے خداوند کے خلاف گناہ کیا ہے۔ 17 صرف اس وقت میرے گناہ کو معاف کرو اور خداوند اپنے خدا سے دعا کرو تا کہ یہ ڙ’موت‘ ( ٹڈیوں) ہم سے دور جا سکے۔”
18 موسیٰ فرعون کو چھوڑ کر چلے گئے اور اُ سنے خداوند خدا سے دعا کی۔ 19 اِس لئے خداوند نے ہوا کا رُخ بدل دیا۔ خداوندنے مغرب سے تیز آندھی چلا ئی اور اُ س نے ٹڈیوں کو دور بحرا حمر میں اڑا دیا۔ ایک بھی ٹڈی مصر میں نہیں بچی۔ 20 لیکن خداوند نے فرعون کو پھر ضدّی کر دیا اور فرعون نے بنی اسرائیلیوں کو جانے نہیں دیا۔
اندھیرا
21 تب خداوند نے موسیٰ سے کہا، “اپنے ہا تھوں کو آسمان کی طرف اٹھا ؤ اور اندھیرا مصر پر چھا جا ئے گا۔ یہ اندھیرا اتنا ہو گا جسے تم محسو س کر سکو گے !”
22 اس لئے موسیٰ نے ہوا میں اپنے ہا تھ اٹھا ئے اور گہرے اندھیرے نے مصر کو ڈھک لیا۔ مصر میں تین دن تک اندھیرا رہا۔ 23 کو ئی کسی دوسرے کو نہیں دیکھ سکتا تھا اور تین دن تک کو ئی اپنی جگہ سے نہیں اٹھ سکا۔ لیکن ان تمام جگہوں پر جہاں بنی اسرائیل رہتے تھے روشنی تھی۔
24 فرعون نے موسیٰ کو پھر بُلا یا اور کہا، “جا ؤ اور خداوند کی عبادت کرو ! تم اپنے ساتھ اپنے بچوں کو لے جا سکتے ہو۔ صرف اپنی بھیڑیں اور جانور یہاں چھوڑ دینا۔”
25 موسیٰ نے فرمایا، “تم ہم لوگوں کو نذرانے اور قربانی کے لئے جانور بھی دو گے اور ہم لوگ ان کو خداوند اپنے خدا کی عبادت میں استعمال کریں گے۔ 26 ہم لوگ اپنے جانور اپنے ساتھ خداوند کی عبادت کے لئے لے جا ئیں گے۔ ایک جانور بھی پیچھے نہیں چھو ڑا جا ئے گا۔ اب تک ہمیں نہیں معلوم کہ خداوند کی عبادت کے لئے کن چیزوں کی ضرورت ہو گی۔ یہ ہم لوگوں کو اُسی وقت معلوم ہو گا جب ہم لوگ وہاں پہنچیں گے جہاں ہم جا رہے ہیں۔ اس لئے ہم لوگ ان تمام چیزوں کو ہما رے ساتھ لے جا ئیں گے۔”
27 خداوند نے فرعون کو ضدّی بنا یا۔ اس لئے فرعون نے اُن کو جانے سے منع کر دیا۔ 28 تب فرعون نے موسیٰ سے کہا، “مجھ سے دور ہو جا ؤ۔ میں نہیں چاہتا کہ تم پھر یہاں آؤ۔ اِس کے بعد اگر تم مجھ سے ملنے آؤ گے تو ما رے جا ؤ گے۔”
29 تب موسیٰ نے فرعون سے کہا، “تم جو کہتے ہو صحیح ہے۔ میں تم سے ملنے پھر کبھی نہیں آؤنگا۔”
