蝗虫之灾
10 耶和华对摩西说：“你去见法老，我已使他和他臣仆的心刚硬，好在他们当中行我这些神迹。 2 这样，你就可以把我如何严惩埃及人以及我在他们当中所行的神迹告诉你的子孙，好叫你们知道我是耶和华。”
3 摩西和亚伦便进宫去见法老，对他说：“希伯来人的上帝耶和华说，‘你要到什么时候才肯在我面前谦卑下来，让我的子民离开这里去事奉我？ 4 这次你若再不答应，明天我要使蝗虫飞入你的国境。 5 它们铺天盖地，要吃光冰雹过后田间所剩的，包括一切树木。 6 你的王宫及臣仆和所有埃及人的房屋都要布满蝗虫，这是你祖祖辈辈从未见过的蝗灾。’”摩西说完，便转身离开法老。
7 臣仆对法老说：“这个人还要给我们添多少麻烦呢？让他们离开去事奉他们的上帝耶和华吧！埃及已经快崩溃了，你不知道吗？” 8 法老便召摩西和亚伦进宫，对他们说：“你们去事奉你们的上帝耶和华吧！但你们谁要去呢？” 9 摩西回答说：“我们男女老幼都要去，还有我们的牛群和羊群，因为我们要去守耶和华的节期，向祂献祭。” 10 法老听后，说：“我若让你们带走妇女和孩子，最好耶和华能保护你们！你们真是居心叵测。 11 不行！只有男子可以去事奉耶和华，这是你们一直要求的。”法老说完，便下令把他们赶出去。
12 耶和华对摩西说：“你向埃及伸杖，使蝗虫飞来吃尽冰雹过后剩下的植物。” 13 摩西就向埃及伸杖。耶和华使东风在埃及境内刮了整整一天一夜，到早晨，东风带来了蝗虫。 14 埃及到处都布满了蝗虫，数目之多实在是空前绝后。 15 整个埃及铺满蝗虫，地上一片黑暗。这些蝗虫吃尽了冰雹过后剩下的农作物和树上的果子，没有留下一点青绿。 16 法老急忙召见摩西和亚伦，对他们说：“我得罪了你们的上帝耶和华，又得罪了你们。 17 现在求你饶恕我的罪，就这一次，为我祈求你们的上帝耶和华撤去这场死亡之灾吧！” 18 摩西就离开法老出去祈求耶和华， 19 耶和华就把风向倒转，变成猛烈的西风，把蝗虫刮走，吹进红海。埃及境内一只蝗虫也没留下。 20 可是，耶和华又使法老心硬，不让以色列人离开埃及。
黑暗之灾
21 耶和华对摩西说：“你向天伸杖，使埃及全境漆黑一片，那黑暗浓得甚至可以摸到。” 22 摩西向天伸杖，埃及全境便漆黑了三天之久。 23 埃及人彼此看不见，谁也不敢移动半步。可是，以色列人住的地方却有光。 24 法老把摩西召来，对他说：“去吧，带着你们的妇女和孩子去事奉耶和华吧，但你们要把牛羊留下。” 25 摩西回答说：“你要让我们带走牛羊，因为它们是献给我们上帝耶和华的祭物和燔祭牲。 26 我们要带走所有的牲畜，一只蹄子也不留下，因为我们要从其中选一些来献给我们的上帝耶和华。我们抵达目的地前，还不知道把哪些献给祂。” 27 但耶和华使法老的心刚硬，不肯让以色列百姓离开。 28 法老对摩西说：“给我滚出去！不要再让我见到你，因为你再见我面之日必死。” 29 摩西回答说：“你说得好，我必不再见你的面。”

10 CHÚA phán cùng Mô-se, “Hãy đi gặp vua Ai-cập. Ta đã làm cho người và quần thần ương ngạnh để ta chứng tỏ cho họ thấy quyền năng của ta qua các phép lạ. 2 Ta làm điều nầy để các con thuật lại cho con cháu mình biết ta đã nghiêm khắc đối với người Ai-cập ra sao. Hãy thuật cho con cháu các con biết những phép lạ ta làm giữa họ để tất cả các con biết ta là CHÚA.”
3 Vậy Mô-se và A-rôn đi gặp nhà vua và bảo, “CHÚA là Thượng Đế của dân Do-thái phán như sau: ‘Ngươi không chịu hối hận về những điều ngươi làm cho đến bao giờ? Hãy để dân ta đi thờ phụng ta. 4 Nếu ngươi không cho dân ta đi, ngày mai ta sẽ sai cào cào đến trên xứ ngươi. 5 Chúng sẽ phủ kín đất và sẽ ăn sạch những gì còn sót lại từ trận mưa đá, cùng những lá của mọi cây mọc ngoài đồng. 6 Chúng sẽ tràn ngập cung điện và nhà cửa của các quần thần ngươi cùng nhà cửa của người Ai-cập. Cào cào nhiều đến nỗi cha ông và tổ tiên ngươi chưa bao giờ thấy; nhiều đến nỗi từ khi có người sống ở Ai-cập cũng chưa thấy như vậy.’” Rồi Mô-se quay đi khỏi mặt vua.
7 Các quần thần hỏi vua, “Tên nầy sẽ gây rối cho chúng ta cho đến bao giờ? Hãy để dân Ít-ra-en đi thờ phụng CHÚA là Thượng Đế của chúng nó đi. Vua không thấy rằng xứ Ai-cập đang bị tàn phá sao?”
8 Người ta liền đưa Mô-se và A-rôn trở lại gặp vua. Vua hỏi, “Hãy đi thờ phụng CHÚA là Thượng Đế các ngươi. Nhưng cho ta biết ai sẽ đi?”
9 Mô-se đáp, “Tất cả nam phụ lão ấu, con trai, con gái, các bầy gia súc của chúng tôi, vì chúng tôi sẽ làm một lễ tôn kính CHÚA.”
10 Vua bảo hai người, “Chỉ có Trời can thiệp thì ta mới cho các ngươi và con cái các ngươi rời khỏi đất Ai-cập mà thôi. Các ngươi định âm mưu ác! 11 Không! Chỉ có đàn ông được phép đi thờ phụng thôi. Vì đó là điều các ngươi xin.” Rồi vua đuổi Mô-se và A-rôn ra khỏi cung điện.
12 CHÚA phán cùng Mô-se, “Hãy giơ tay con lên xứ Ai-cập thì cào cào sẽ bay tới. Chúng sẽ phân tán khắp xứ Ai-cập và ăn sạch mọi thứ thảo mộc mà mưa đá không làm giập.”
13 Mô-se giơ gậy lên xứ Ai-cập rồi CHÚA làm một trận gió mạnh thổi từ phía đông đến. Gió thổi qua xứ suốt ngày và đêm đó. Đến sáng hôm sau, gió đông mang cào cào tới. 14 Hàng bầy cào cào che kín đất Ai-cập và đậu xuống khắp nơi. Từ trước chưa bao giờ có nhiều cào cào đến như thế, và sau nầy cũng không có nữa. 15 Chúng phủ kín đất đến nỗi đất hoá đen. Chúng ăn sạch những gì mưa đá còn chừa lại mọi cây trong đồng cùng các trái trên cây. Không còn màu xanh nào còn sót lại trên cây hay thảo mộc trên khắp xứ Ai-cập.
16 Vua lập tức gọi Mô-se và A-rôn lại. Vua bảo, “Ta đã phạm tội cùng CHÚA là Thượng Đế và phạm tội cùng chính các ngươi nữa. 17 Bây giờ hãy tha lỗi cho ta. Hãy cầu nguyện CHÚA là Thượng Đế ngươi, xin Ngài hãy ngưng sự trừng phạt chết chóc nầy.”
18 Mô-se từ giã vua và cầu nguyện cùng CHÚA. 19 Nên CHÚA đổi chiều gió. Ngài làm một trận gió mạnh từ hướng tây lại thổi đùa cào cào xuống Hồng hải. Khắp xứ không còn sót một con cào cào nào. 20 Nhưng CHÚA làm cho nhà vua ương ngạnh trở lại, không chịu để cho dân Ít-ra-en đi.
Bóng tối
21 Rồi CHÚA bảo Mô-se, “Hãy giơ tay con lên trời thì bóng tối sẽ phủ cả xứ Ai-cập. Bóng tối dầy đặc đến nỗi người ta phải lần mò để đi.”
22 Mô-se liền giơ tay lên trời, thì bóng tối toàn diện bao phủ khắp xứ Ai-cập trong ba ngày. 23 Không ai thấy ai cả, cũng không ai đi đâu trong vòng ba ngày. Nhưng chỗ người Ít-ra-en ở thì có ánh sáng.
24 Một lần nữa vua cho gọi Mô-se đến. Vua bảo, “Tất cả các ngươi có thể đi thờ phụng CHÚA. Các ngươi có thể mang đàn bà, con trẻ đi theo nhưng các ngươi phải để gia súc lại đây.”
25 Mô-se đáp, “Vua phải cho chúng tôi mang gia súc theo để làm sinh tế và của lễ thiêu vì chúng tôi phải dâng lên cho CHÚA là Thượng Đế chúng tôi. 26 Nên chúng tôi phải mang theo gia súc, không chừa con nào. Chúng tôi phải dùng một số gia súc để thờ phụng CHÚA là Thượng Đế chúng tôi. Chúng tôi chưa biết đích xác phải cần gì để thờ phụng CHÚA cho đến khi chúng tôi tới đó.”
27 Nhưng CHÚA làm cho nhà vua ương ngạnh, nên không để cho họ đi. 28 Vua bảo Mô-se, “Ngươi hãy ra khỏi đây ngay, chớ bao giờ trở lại nữa! Ngày nào ngươi thấy mặt ta là ngươi chết đó.”
29 Mô-se đáp, “Tôi sẽ làm như điều vua muốn. Tôi sẽ không bao giờ thấy mặt vua nữa đâu.”

10 (A)Allora il Signore disse a *Mosè: «Va' dal *faraone; poiché io ho reso ostinato il suo cuore e il cuore dei suoi servitori, per fare in mezzo a loro i segni che vedrai, 2 e perché tu possa raccontare ai tuoi figli e ai figli dei tuoi figli quello che ho operato in Egitto e i segni che ho fatti in mezzo a loro. Cosí saprete che io sono il Signore». 3 Mosè e *Aaronne andarono dunque dal faraone e gli dissero: «Cosí dice il Signore, il Dio degli *Ebrei: “Fino a quando rifiuterai di umiliarti davanti a me? Lascia andare il mio popolo perché mi serva. 4 Se tu rifiuti di lasciar andare il mio popolo, domani farò venire le *cavallette su tutto il tuo paese. 5 Esse copriranno la superficie del paese e non si potrà vedere il suolo; divoreranno il resto che è scampato, ciò che è stato lasciato dalla grandine e divoreranno ogni albero che cresce nei campi. 6 Riempiranno le tue case, le case di tutti i tuoi servitori e le case di tutti gli Egiziani, come né i tuoi padri né i padri dei tuoi padri videro mai, dal giorno che furono sulla terra, fino ad oggi”». Detto questo, voltò le spalle e uscí dalla presenza del faraone. 7 I servitori del faraone gli dissero: «Fino a quando quest'uomo sarà per noi un'insidia? Lascia andare questa gente, e che serva il Signore, il suo Dio! Non ti accorgi che l'Egitto è rovinato?»
8 Allora fecero ritornare Mosè e Aaronne dal faraone. Egli disse loro: «Andate, servite il Signore, il vostro Dio; ma chi sono quelli che andranno?» Mosè disse: 9 «Noi andremo con i nostri bambini e con i nostri vecchi, con i nostri figli e con le nostre figlie; andremo con le nostre greggi e con i nostri armenti, perché dobbiamo celebrare una festa al Signore». 10 Il faraone disse loro: «Cosí sia il Signore con voi, come io lascerò andare voi e i vostri bambini! Ma voi avete delle cattive intenzioni! 11 Allora no, andate soltanto voi uomini e servite il Signore; poiché questo è quello che volete». E il faraone li cacciò dalla sua presenza.
12 Allora il Signore disse a Mosè: «Stendi la tua mano sul paese d'Egitto per farvi venire le cavallette; ed esse salgano sul paese d'Egitto e divorino tutta l'erba del paese, tutto quello che la grandine ha lasciato». 13 Mosè protese il suo bastone sul paese d'Egitto e il Signore fece levare un vento orientale sul paese, tutto quel giorno e tutta la notte. Quando venne il mattino, il vento orientale aveva portato le cavallette. 14 Le cavallette salirono su tutto il paese d'Egitto e si posarono su tutta l'estensione dell'Egitto. Erano numerosissime: prima non ce n'erano mai state tante, né mai piú tante ce ne saranno. 15 Esse coprirono la superficie di tutto il paese, che ne rimase oscurato, e divorarono tutta l'erba del paese e tutti i frutti degli alberi, che la grandine aveva lasciato. Nulla di verde rimase sugli alberi né sulle erbe della campagna, in tutto il paese d'Egitto.
16 Allora il faraone chiamò in fretta Mosè e Aaronne e disse: «Io ho peccato contro il Signore, il vostro Dio, e contro di voi. 17 Ma ora perdonate, vi prego, il mio peccato, questa volta soltanto. Supplicate il Signore, il vostro Dio, perché almeno allontani da me questo flagello mortale». 18 Mosè uscí dalla presenza del faraone e pregò il Signore. 19 Il Signore fece levare un vento contrario, un fortissimo vento di ponente, che portò via le cavallette e le precipitò nel mar Rosso. Non rimase neppure una cavalletta in tutta l'estensione dell'Egitto. 20 Ma il Signore indurí il cuore del faraone, e questi non lasciò andare i figli d'*Israele.
Le tenebre in Egitto
21 (B)Allora il Signore disse a Mosè: «Stendi la tua mano verso il cielo e vi siano tenebre nel paese d'Egitto, cosí fitte da potersi toccare. 22 Mosè stese la sua mano verso il cielo e per tre giorni ci fu una fitta oscurità in tutto il paese d'Egitto. 23 Non ci si vedeva piú l'un l'altro e per tre giorni nessuno si mosse da dove stava; ma tutti i figli d'Israele avevano luce nelle loro abitazioni.
24 Allora il faraone chiamò Mosè e disse: «Andate, servite il Signore; rimangano soltanto le vostre greggi e i vostri armenti; anche i vostri bambini potranno andare con voi». 25 Mosè disse: «Tu ci devi permettere di avere sacrifici e olocausti da offrire al Signore, il nostro Dio. 26 Perciò anche il nostro bestiame verrà con noi, senza che ne rimanga indietro neppure un'unghia; poiché da esso dobbiamo prendere le vittime per servire il Signore, nostro Dio, e noi non sapremo con quali vittime dovremo servire il Signore, finché non saremo giunti là». 27 Ma il Signore indurí il cuore del faraone, e questi non volle lasciarli andare. 28 E il faraone disse a Mosè: «Vattene via da me! Guàrdati bene dal comparire ancora alla mia presenza, perché il giorno che comparirai alla mia presenza morirai!» 29 Mosè rispose: «Hai detto bene; io non comparirò piú davanti a te».

10 And the Lord said unto Moses, Go in unto Pharaoh: for I have hardened his heart, and the heart of his servants, that I might shew these my signs before him:
2 And that thou mayest tell in the ears of thy son, and of thy son's son, what things I have wrought in Egypt, and my signs which I have done among them; that ye may know how that I am the Lord.
3 And Moses and Aaron came in unto Pharaoh, and said unto him, Thus saith the Lord God of the Hebrews, How long wilt thou refuse to humble thyself before me? let my people go, that they may serve me.
4 Else, if thou refuse to let my people go, behold, to morrow will I bring the locusts into thy coast:
5 And they shall cover the face of the earth, that one cannot be able to see the earth: and they shall eat the residue of that which is escaped, which remaineth unto you from the hail, and shall eat every tree which groweth for you out of the field:
6 And they shall fill thy houses, and the houses of all thy servants, and the houses of all the Egyptians; which neither thy fathers, nor thy fathers' fathers have seen, since the day that they were upon the earth unto this day. And he turned himself, and went out from Pharaoh.
7 And Pharaoh's servants said unto him, How long shall this man be a snare unto us? let the men go, that they may serve the Lord their God: knowest thou not yet that Egypt is destroyed?
8 And Moses and Aaron were brought again unto Pharaoh: and he said unto them, Go, serve the Lord your God: but who are they that shall go?
9 And Moses said, We will go with our young and with our old, with our sons and with our daughters, with our flocks and with our herds will we go; for we must hold a feast unto the Lord.
10 And he said unto them, Let the Lord be so with you, as I will let you go, and your little ones: look to it; for evil is before you.
11 Not so: go now ye that are men, and serve the Lord; for that ye did desire. And they were driven out from Pharaoh's presence.
12 And the Lord said unto Moses, Stretch out thine hand over the land of Egypt for the locusts, that they may come up upon the land of Egypt, and eat every herb of the land, even all that the hail hath left.
13 And Moses stretched forth his rod over the land of Egypt, and the Lord brought an east wind upon the land all that day, and all that night; and when it was morning, the east wind brought the locusts.
14 And the locust went up over all the land of Egypt, and rested in all the coasts of Egypt: very grievous were they; before them there were no such locusts as they, neither after them shall be such.
15 For they covered the face of the whole earth, so that the land was darkened; and they did eat every herb of the land, and all the fruit of the trees which the hail had left: and there remained not any green thing in the trees, or in the herbs of the field, through all the land of Egypt.
16 Then Pharaoh called for Moses and Aaron in haste; and he said, I have sinned against the Lord your God, and against you.
17 Now therefore forgive, I pray thee, my sin only this once, and intreat the Lord your God, that he may take away from me this death only.
18 And he went out from Pharaoh, and intreated the Lord.
19 And the Lord turned a mighty strong west wind, which took away the locusts, and cast them into the Red sea; there remained not one locust in all the coasts of Egypt.
20 But the Lord hardened Pharaoh's heart, so that he would not let the children of Israel go.
21 And the Lord said unto Moses, Stretch out thine hand toward heaven, that there may be darkness over the land of Egypt, even darkness which may be felt.
22 And Moses stretched forth his hand toward heaven; and there was a thick darkness in all the land of Egypt three days:
23 They saw not one another, neither rose any from his place for three days: but all the children of Israel had light in their dwellings.
24 And Pharaoh called unto Moses, and said, Go ye, serve the Lord; only let your flocks and your herds be stayed: let your little ones also go with you.
25 And Moses said, Thou must give us also sacrifices and burnt offerings, that we may sacrifice unto the Lord our God.
26 Our cattle also shall go with us; there shall not an hoof be left behind; for thereof must we take to serve the Lord our God; and we know not with what we must serve the Lord, until we come thither.
27 But the Lord hardened Pharaoh's heart, and he would not let them go.
28 And Pharaoh said unto him, Get thee from me, take heed to thyself, see my face no more; for in that day thou seest my face thou shalt die.
29 And Moses said, Thou hast spoken well, I will see thy face again no more.
