34 And the Lord said unto Moses, Hew thee two tables of stone like unto the first: and I will write upon these tables the words that were in the first tables, which thou brakest.
2 And be ready in the morning, and come up in the morning unto mount Sinai, and present thyself there to me in the top of the mount.
3 And no man shall come up with thee, neither let any man be seen throughout all the mount; neither let the flocks nor herds feed before that mount.
4 And he hewed two tables of stone like unto the first; and Moses rose up early in the morning, and went up unto mount Sinai, as the Lord had commanded him, and took in his hand the two tables of stone.
5 And the Lord descended in the cloud, and stood with him there, and proclaimed the name of the Lord.
6 And the Lord passed by before him, and proclaimed, The Lord, The Lord God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abundant in goodness and truth,
7 Keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, and that will by no means clear the guilty; visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, and upon the children's children, unto the third and to the fourth generation.
8 And Moses made haste, and bowed his head toward the earth, and worshipped.
9 And he said, If now I have found grace in thy sight, O Lord, let my Lord, I pray thee, go among us; for it is a stiffnecked people; and pardon our iniquity and our sin, and take us for thine inheritance.
10 And he said, Behold, I make a covenant: before all thy people I will do marvels, such as have not been done in all the earth, nor in any nation: and all the people among which thou art shall see the work of the Lord: for it is a terrible thing that I will do with thee.
11 Observe thou that which I command thee this day: behold, I drive out before thee the Amorite, and the Canaanite, and the Hittite, and the Perizzite, and the Hivite, and the Jebusite.
12 Take heed to thyself, lest thou make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land whither thou goest, lest it be for a snare in the midst of thee:
13 But ye shall destroy their altars, break their images, and cut down their groves:
14 For thou shalt worship no other god: for the Lord, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God:
15 Lest thou make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land, and they go a whoring after their gods, and do sacrifice unto their gods, and one call thee, and thou eat of his sacrifice;
16 And thou take of their daughters unto thy sons, and their daughters go a whoring after their gods, and make thy sons go a whoring after their gods.
17 Thou shalt make thee no molten gods.
18 The feast of unleavened bread shalt thou keep. Seven days thou shalt eat unleavened bread, as I commanded thee, in the time of the month Abib: for in the month Abib thou camest out from Egypt.
19 All that openeth the matrix is mine; and every firstling among thy cattle, whether ox or sheep, that is male.
20 But the firstling of an ass thou shalt redeem with a lamb: and if thou redeem him not, then shalt thou break his neck. All the firstborn of thy sons thou shalt redeem. And none shall appear before me empty.
21 Six days thou shalt work, but on the seventh day thou shalt rest: in earing time and in harvest thou shalt rest.
22 And thou shalt observe the feast of weeks, of the firstfruits of wheat harvest, and the feast of ingathering at the year's end.
23 Thrice in the year shall all your menchildren appear before the Lord God, the God of Israel.
24 For I will cast out the nations before thee, and enlarge thy borders: neither shall any man desire thy land, when thou shalt go up to appear before the Lord thy God thrice in the year.
25 Thou shalt not offer the blood of my sacrifice with leaven; neither shall the sacrifice of the feast of the passover be left unto the morning.
26 The first of the firstfruits of thy land thou shalt bring unto the house of the Lord thy God. Thou shalt not seethe a kid in his mother's milk.
27 And the Lord said unto Moses, Write thou these words: for after the tenor of these words I have made a covenant with thee and with Israel.
28 And he was there with the Lord forty days and forty nights; he did neither eat bread, nor drink water. And he wrote upon the tables the words of the covenant, the ten commandments.
29 And it came to pass, when Moses came down from mount Sinai with the two tables of testimony in Moses' hand, when he came down from the mount, that Moses wist not that the skin of his face shone while he talked with him.
30 And when Aaron and all the children of Israel saw Moses, behold, the skin of his face shone; and they were afraid to come nigh him.
31 And Moses called unto them; and Aaron and all the rulers of the congregation returned unto him: and Moses talked with them.
32 And afterward all the children of Israel came nigh: and he gave them in commandment all that the Lord had spoken with him in mount Sinai.
33 And till Moses had done speaking with them, he put a vail on his face.
34 But when Moses went in before the Lord to speak with him, he took the vail off, until he came out. And he came out, and spake unto the children of Israel that which he was commanded.
35 And the children of Israel saw the face of Moses, that the skin of Moses' face shone: and Moses put the vail upon his face again, until he went in to speak with him.

Moses Makes New Tablets(A)

4 So he cut two tablets of stone like the first ones. Then Moses rose early in the morning and went up Mount Sinai, as the Lord had commanded him; and he took in his hand the two tablets of stone.

The Covenant Renewed(R)
10 And He said: “Behold, (S)I make a covenant. For it is (U)an awesome thing that I will do with you. 11 (V)Observe what I command you this day. Behold, (W)I am driving out from before you the Amorite and the Canaanite and the Hittite and the Perizzite and the Hivite and the Jebusite. 12 (X)Take heed to yourself, lest you make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land where you are going, lest it be a snare in your midst. 13 But you shall (Y)destroy their altars, break their sacred pillars, and (Z)cut down their wooden images 14 (for you shall worship (AA)no other god, for the Lord, whose (AB)name is Jealous, is a (AC)jealous God), 15 lest you make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land, and they (AD)play the harlot with their gods and make sacrifice to their gods, and one of them (AE)invites you and you (AF)eat of his sacrifice, 16 and you take of (AG)his daughters for your sons, and his daughters (AH)play the harlot with their gods and make your sons play the harlot with their gods.
17 (AI)“You shall make no molded gods for yourselves.
18 “The Feast of (AJ)Unleavened Bread you shall keep. Seven days you shall eat unleavened bread, as I commanded you, in the appointed time of the month of Abib; for in the (AK)month of Abib you came out from Egypt.
19 (AL)“All [c]that open the womb are Mine, and every male firstborn among your livestock, whether ox or sheep. 20 But (AM)the firstborn of a donkey you shall redeem with a lamb. And if you will not redeem him, then you shall break his neck. All the firstborn of your sons you shall redeem.
“And none shall appear before Me (AN)empty-handed.
21 (AO)“Six days you shall work, but on the seventh day you shall rest; in plowing time and in harvest you shall rest.

The Shining Face of Moses
29 Now it was so, when Moses came down from Mount Sinai (and the (AW)two tablets of the Testimony were in Moses’ hand when he came down from the mountain), that Moses did not know that (AX)the skin of his face shone while he talked with Him. 30 So when Aaron and all the children of Israel saw Moses, behold, the skin of his face shone, and they were afraid to come near him. 31 Then Moses called to them, and Aaron and all the rulers of the congregation returned to him; and Moses talked with them. 32 Afterward all the children of Israel came near, (AY)and he gave them as commandments all that the Lord had spoken with him on Mount Sinai. 33 And when Moses had finished speaking with them, he put (AZ)a veil on his face. 34 But (BA)whenever Moses went in before the Lord to speak with Him, he would take the veil off until he came out; and he would come out and speak to the children of Israel whatever he had been commanded. 35 And whenever the children of Israel saw the face of Moses, that the skin of Moses’ face shone, then Moses would put the veil on his face again, until he went in to speak with Him.

34 El SEÑOR le dijo a Moisés:
—Corta dos tablas de piedra iguales a las primeras que rompiste. Voy a escribir en esas tablas las mismas palabras que escribí en las primeras. 2 Prepárate para subir mañana temprano a la cima del monte Sinaí y para esperarme ahí. 3 Ningún otro debe acompañarte ni debe haber nadie más en todo el monte. Ninguna oveja o rebaño debe pastar frente a la montaña.
4 Entonces Moisés cortó dos tablas de piedra iguales a las anteriores. A la mañana siguiente se levantó temprano y con las tablas en sus manos subió al monte Sinaí, tal como el SEÑOR le había ordenado. 5 El SEÑOR bajó en la nube, se quedó ahí con él y pronunció su nombre[a].
6 El SEÑOR pasó frente a él y le dijo:
«YAVÉ, el SEÑOR,
es Dios misericordioso y compasivo,
que no se enoja con facilidad,
lleno de fiel amor y lealtad.
7 Muestra su fiel amor por mil generaciones
y perdona culpas, ofensas y pecados.
Sin embargo no se olvida de castigar a los culpables.
Castiga a los hijos y a nietos,

8 Rápidamente Moisés se postró rostro en tierra y lo adoró 9 diciendo:
—Si realmente estás contento conmigo, acompáñanos aunque ellos sean tercos. Perdónanos las maldades que hemos hecho y acéptanos como tu pueblo.
El pacto del Señor
(Éx 23:14-19; Dt 7:1-5; 16:1-17)
10 Entonces Dios dijo:
—Voy a hacer un pacto frente a tu pueblo y voy a realizar milagros que no se han visto nunca antes en la tierra. El pueblo verá las obras del SEÑOR porque voy a realizar un acto asombroso con ustedes. 11 Obedece lo que hoy te ordeno y yo expulsaré de la presencia de ustedes a los amorreos, cananeos, heteos, ferezeos, heveos y jebuseos. 12 Ten cuidado, no hagas ningún pacto con el pueblo que vive en las tierras donde ustedes van a vivir. Si haces pactos con ese pueblo, ellos te traerán problemas. 13 Tienes que derribar sus altares, destruir las piedras que adoran y cortar sus postes de Aserá. 14 No adores a ningún otro dios, porque el SEÑOR es muy celoso. Su nombre es Dios celoso. 15 Así que no hagas ningún pacto con la gente que vive en esa tierra. Si haces pactos con ellos, corres el riesgo de abandonarme y comenzar a adorar a sus dioses, de que uno de esos pueblos termine invitándote a que te les unas a comer de sus sacrificios, 16 o de querer elegir a algunas de sus hijas para que se casen con tus hijos. Ellas adoran a dioses falsos y te llevarán a ti a hacer lo mismo.
17 »No harás ídolos de metal fundido.
18 »Celebra la fiesta de los Panes sin Levadura. Comerás pan sin levadura durante siete días en el mes de aviv, que es la fecha indicada, tal como te lo ordené ya que en el mes de aviv saliste de Egipto.
19 »Todos los hijos mayores me pertenecen. Todos los machos hijos mayores de tu ganado, tanto de vacas como de ovejas, me pertenecen. 20 Si quieres quedarte con el hijo mayor de un burro, lo rescatarás pagando a cambio una oveja. Si no lo quieres rescatar le romperás el cuello. Darás rescate por todos tus hijos mayores. Nadie debe venir ante mí sin una ofrenda.
21 »Trabajarás seis días pero descansarás en el séptimo día, aun en las épocas de siembra y cosecha.
22 »Celebrarás la fiesta de las Semanas[b], la de los primeros frutos de la cosecha de trigo. Después, al final del año celebrarás la fiesta de la Cosecha[c].
23 »Tres veces al año todos los hombres se presentarán ante el SEÑOR, Dios de Israel.
24 »Cuando vayas a tu tierra, voy a echar a tus enemigos y voy a ampliar tus fronteras. Nadie intentará adueñarse de tu tierra mientras vas esas tres veces al año a donde está el SEÑOR, tu Dios.
25 »Cuando me ofrezcas sangre de un sacrificio, no me ofrezcas pan que tenga levadura al mismo tiempo. No dejes hasta la mañana siguiente carne que haya sobrado de la Pascua.
26 »Lleva a la casa[d] del SEÑOR tu Dios lo mejor de los primeros frutos de tu cosecha.
»No cocines al cabrito en la leche de la mamá del cabrito».
27 Luego el SEÑOR le dijo a Moisés: «Escribe lo que te acabo de decir. Esas palabras son el pacto que hice contigo y el pueblo de Israel».
28 Moisés se quedó ahí con el SEÑOR durante 40 días y 40 noches sin comer ni beber nada. Escribió en las tablas las palabras del pacto, que son los Diez Mandamientos.
La cara brillante de Moisés
29 Cuando Moisés bajó del monte Sinaí, llevaba consigo las dos tablas. Moisés no se daba cuenta de que, por haber hablado con Dios, la piel de su rostro estaba brillando. 30 Cuando Aarón y todos los israelitas vieron que la piel de Moisés estaba brillando, les dio miedo acercarse. 31 Entonces Moisés los llamó y Aarón y todos los líderes del pueblo fueron a donde él estaba. Moisés habló con ellos, 32 y luego todo el pueblo de Israel se acercó. Moisés les dio los mandamientos que el SEÑOR le había dado en el monte Sinaí.
33 Cuando Moisés terminó de hablarles, se cubrió la cara con un velo. 34 Siempre que Moisés iba a hablar con el SEÑOR, se quitaba el velo de la cara.
