Rökelsealtaret

(2 Mos 37:25-28)

30 Du ska göra ett altare av akacieträ, där du kan tända rökelse. 2 Det ska vara fyrkantigt, en halv meter långt, en halv meter brett och en meter högt. Dess horn ska vara i ett stycke med altaret. 3 Du ska dra över dess överdel, sidor och horn med rent guld och göra en guldkant runt det. 4 Nedanför kanten på två sidor av altaret ska du göra två guldringar till stänger att bära altaret med. 5 De ska göras av akacieträ och överdras med guld. 6 Ställ altaret framför förhänget framför arken med förbundstecknet, framför försoningsstället ovanpå förbundstecknet. Det är där jag ska uppenbara mig för dig.

7 Varje morgon när Aron gör i ordning oljelamporna ska han tända välluktande rökelse på altaret, 8 och i skymningen när han tänder lamporna ska han bränna rökelse inför Herren. Så ska man göra från generation till generation. 9 Bränn ingen främmande rökelse på det och inte heller brännoffer eller matoffer, och häll inget dryckesoffer på det.

10 En gång om året måste Aron försona altarets horn. Denna årliga försoning ska göras med blod från det försonande syndoffret, från generation till generation, för det är högheligt för Herren.”

Lösepenningen

11 Herren sa till Mose: 12 ”När du har folkräkning i Israel ska var och en som blivit räknad betala en lösen för sitt liv till Herren, för att ingen olycka ska drabba dem vid mönstringen. 13 En halv sikel[a] silver ska betalas av alla som upptas bland de mönstrade, efter tempelvikt – en sikel är 20 gera. Denna halvsikel är en offergåva åt Herren. 14 Alla som upptas bland de mönstrade, från tjugo års ålder och uppåt, ska ge denna offergåva till Herren. 15 Den som är rik ska inte ge mer än en halv sikel och den som är fattig inte mindre än en halv sikel, för det är ett offer till Herren som lösen för era liv. 16 Ta emot lösesumman av israeliterna och använd pengarna till tjänsten i uppenbarelsetältet. Så ska Herren komma ihåg israeliterna genom lösepengarna för ert liv.”

Tvättfatet

17 Och Herren sa till Mose: 18 ”Gör ett tvättfat av koppar med en ställning, också av koppar. Placera det mellan uppenbarelsetältet och altaret och fyll det med vatten. 19 Aron och hans söner ska tvätta sina händer och fötter där; 20 innan de går in i uppenbarelsetältet ska de tvätta sig för att inte dö när de går fram till altaret för att göra tjänst och tända eldoffer åt Herren. 21 De måste alltid tvätta sina händer och fötter, annars kommer de att dö. Det här är en oföränderlig stadga för Aron och hans söner som ska gälla från generation till generation.”

Smörjelseoljan

22 Herren talade till Mose: 23 ”Samla fina kryddor av bästa slag: sex kilo flytande myrra, hälften så mycket av vardera doftande kanel och kalmus, 24 sex kilo kassia, efter tempelvikt, och dessutom tre liter olivolja. 25 Du ska göra det till en helig smörjelseolja, en doftande, konstfärdig blandning, sådan som helig smörjelseolja ska vara.

26 Den ska du använda för att smörja uppenbarelsetältet, arken med förbundstecknet, 27 bordet med alla dess tillbehör, lampstället och allt som hör till den, rökelsealtaret, 28 brännofferaltaret med alla dess tillbehör, tvättfatet och dess ställning. 29 Du ska helga dem så att de blir högheliga. Allt som kommer i beröring med dem blir heligt. 30 Smörj också Aron och hans söner, och helga dem så att de kan tjäna mig som präster. 31 Säg till Israels folk: ’Detta ska alltid vara min heliga smörjelseolja från generation till generation. 32 Den får inte användas på någon annan människa, och ni får inte tillverka annan olja med denna sammansättning, för den är helig och måste behandlas som helig av er. 33 Den som blandar denna olja och med den smörjer någon som inte är präst, ska utrotas ur sitt folk.’ ”

Rökelsen

34 Herren talade till Mose: ”Ta fina, välluktande kryddor, stakte, sjönagel, galban och ren rökelse, lika mycket av varje[b]. 35 Gör en välluktande rökelseblandning av dem, på det sätt salvtillverkare gör, och tillsätt salt. Detta ska vara en ren och helig rökelse. 36 Mal sönder en del av den till pulver och lägg det framför arken med förbundstecknet i uppenbarelsetältet där jag ska möta dig. Den ska vara höghelig för er. 37 Gör aldrig rökelse med denna sammansättning åt er själva, för den ska hållas helgad åt Herren. 38 Den som tillverkar rökelse för att njuta av dess doft måste utrotas ur sitt folk.”

The Altar of Incense(A)

30 “Make an altar(B) of acacia wood for burning incense.(C) 2 It is to be square, a cubit long and a cubit wide, and two cubits high[a]—its horns(D) of one piece with it. 3 Overlay the top and all the sides and the horns with pure gold, and make a gold molding around it.(E) 4 Make two gold rings(F) for the altar below the molding—two on each of the opposite sides—to hold the poles used to carry it. 5 Make the poles of acacia wood and overlay them with gold.(G) 6 Put the altar in front of the curtain that shields the ark of the covenant law—before the atonement cover(H) that is over the tablets of the covenant law—where I will meet with you.

7 “Aaron must burn fragrant incense(I) on the altar every morning when he tends the lamps. 8 He must burn incense again when he lights the lamps at twilight so incense will burn regularly before the Lord for the generations to come.(J) 9 Do not offer on this altar any other incense(K) or any burnt offering or grain offering, and do not pour a drink offering on it. 10 Once a year(L) Aaron shall make atonement(M) on its horns. This annual atonement must be made with the blood of the atoning sin offering[b](N) for the generations to come.(O) It is most holy to the Lord.”

Atonement Money

11 Then the Lord said to Moses, 12 “When you take a census(P) of the Israelites to count them, each one must pay the Lord a ransom(Q) for his life at the time he is counted. Then no plague(R) will come on them when you number them. 13 Each one who crosses over to those already counted is to give a half shekel,[c] according to the sanctuary shekel,(S) which weighs twenty gerahs. This half shekel is an offering to the Lord. 14 All who cross over, those twenty years old or more,(T) are to give an offering to the Lord. 15 The rich are not to give more than a half shekel and the poor are not to give less(U) when you make the offering to the Lord to atone for your lives. 16 Receive the atonement(V) money from the Israelites and use it for the service of the tent of meeting.(W) It will be a memorial(X) for the Israelites before the Lord, making atonement for your lives.”

Basin for Washing

17 Then the Lord said to Moses, 18 “Make a bronze basin,(Y) with its bronze stand, for washing. Place it between the tent of meeting and the altar, and put water in it. 19 Aaron and his sons are to wash their hands and feet(Z) with water(AA) from it. 20 Whenever they enter the tent of meeting, they shall wash with water so that they will not die.(AB) Also, when they approach the altar to minister by presenting a food offering to the Lord, 21 they shall wash their hands and feet so that they will not die. This is to be a lasting ordinance(AC) for Aaron and his descendants for the generations to come.”(AD)

Anointing Oil

22 Then the Lord said to Moses, 23 “Take the following fine spices:(AE) 500 shekels[d] of liquid myrrh,(AF) half as much (that is, 250 shekels) of fragrant cinnamon,(AG) 250 shekels[e] of fragrant calamus,(AH) 24 500 shekels(AI) of cassia(AJ)—all according to the sanctuary shekel—and a hin[f] of olive oil. 25 Make these into a sacred anointing oil, a fragrant blend, the work of a perfumer.(AK) It will be the sacred anointing oil.(AL) 26 Then use it to anoint(AM) the tent of meeting, the ark of the covenant law, 27 the table and all its articles, the lampstand and its accessories, the altar of incense, 28 the altar of burnt offering and all its utensils, and the basin with its stand. 29 You shall consecrate them(AN) so they will be most holy, and whatever touches them will be holy.(AO)

30 “Anoint Aaron and his sons and consecrate(AP) them so they may serve me as priests.(AQ) 31 Say to the Israelites, ‘This is to be my sacred anointing oil(AR) for the generations to come.(AS) 32 Do not pour it on anyone else’s body and do not make any other oil using the same formula. It is sacred, and you are to consider it sacred.(AT) 33 Whoever makes perfume like it and puts it on anyone other than a priest must be cut off(AU) from their people.’”

Incense

34 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Take fragrant spices(AV)—gum resin, onycha and galbanum—and pure frankincense, all in equal amounts, 35 and make a fragrant blend of incense,(AW) the work of a perfumer.(AX) It is to be salted and pure and sacred. 36 Grind some of it to powder and place it in front of the ark of the covenant law in the tent of meeting, where I will meet(AY) with you. It shall be most holy(AZ) to you. 37 Do not make any incense with this formula for yourselves; consider it holy(BA) to the Lord. 38 Whoever makes incense like it to enjoy its fragrance must be cut off(BB) from their people.”

30 ¶ In the same manner thou shalt make an altar to burn incense upon; of cedar wood shalt thou make it.

2 Its length shall be a cubit and its width a cubit; it shall be square and its height two cubits; its horns shall be of the same.

3 And thou shalt cover it with pure gold, its top and its sides round about, and its horns; and thou shalt make unto it a moulding of gold round about.

4 And two golden rings shalt thou make to it under its moulding by its two corners on both sides for places for the staves to bear it with.

5 And thou shalt make the staves of cedar wood and cover them with gold.

6 And thou shalt put it before the veil that is by the ark of the testimony, before the seat of reconciliation that is over the testimony, where I will testify unto thee of myself.

7 And Aaron shall burn sweet incense thereon every morning; when he dresses the lamps, he shall burn it.

8 And when Aaron lights the lamps at evening, he shall burn incense upon it continually before the LORD throughout your ages.

9 Ye shall offer no strange incense thereon nor burnt sacrifice nor present; neither shall ye pour drink offering thereon.

10 And Aaron shall make reconciliation upon the horns of it once a year with the blood of the reconciliation for sin; once a year shall he make reconciliation upon it throughout your ages; it shall be most holy unto the LORD.

11 ¶ And the LORD spoke unto Moses, saying,

12 When thou takest the number of the sons of Israel after the sum of them, each one shall give a ransom for his soul unto the LORD, when thou dost number them, that there be no mortality in them because of numbering them.

13 This shall be given by every one that passes among those that are numbered: half a shekel after the shekel of the sanctuary (a shekel is twenty gerahs); a half shekel shall be the offering to the LORD.

14 Anyone that passes among those that are numbered, from twenty years old and above, shall give the offering unto the LORD.

15 The rich shall not give more, and the poor shall not give less than half a shekel, when they give the offering unto the LORD to make reconciliation for your souls.

16 And thou shalt take the reconciliation money of the sons of Israel and shalt appoint it for the service of the tabernacle of the testimony, and it shall be a memorial unto the sons of Israel before the LORD to reconcile your souls.

17 ¶ And the LORD spoke further unto Moses, saying,

18 Thou shalt also make a laver of brass, and its base also of brass, to wash with; and thou shalt place it between the tabernacle of the testimony and the altar, and thou shalt put water in it.

19 And from it Aaron and his sons shall wash their hands and their feet.

20 When they go into the tabernacle of the testimony, they shall wash with water that they not die, or when they come near to the altar to minister, to burn the offering unto the LORD that must be consumed by fire,

21 they shall wash their hands and their feet, that they not die. And he and his seed shall have it as a perpetual statute throughout their generations.

22 ¶ The LORD spoke further unto Moses, saying,

23 Thou must take unto thee of the principal spices: of excellent myrrh five hundred shekels and of aromatic cinnamon half so much, even two hundred and fifty shekels, and of aromatic calamus two hundred and fifty shekels,

24 and of cassia five hundred shekels, after the shekel of the sanctuary, and of oil olive one hin;

25 and thou shalt make of it the oil of the holy anointing, a superior ointment, after the art of the apothecary, which shall be the oil of the holy anointing.

26 And thou shalt anoint the tabernacle of the testimony with it and the ark of the testimony

27 and the table and all its vessels and the lampstand and its vessels and the altar of incense

28 and the altar of burnt offering with all its vessels and the laver and its base.

29 Thus thou shalt consecrate them, and they shall be most holy; whatever touches them shall be sanctified.

30 And thou shalt also anoint Aaron and his sons and sanctify them that they may be my priests.

31 And thou shalt speak unto the sons of Israel, saying, This shall be my oil of the holy anointing throughout your ages.

32 It shall not be poured upon man’s flesh; neither shall ye make any other like it, after the composition of it; it is holy, and it shall be holy unto you.

33 Whoever compounds any like it and puts any of it upon a stranger shall be cut off from his people.

34 And the LORD said unto Moses, Take unto thee aromas, stacte and onycha and aromatic galbanum and pure frankincense, of each in equal weight.

35 And thou shalt make it a perfume, a confection after the art of the apothecary, tempered together, pure and holy;

36 and thou shalt beat some of it very small and put of it before the testimony in the tabernacle of the testimony, where I will testify unto thee of myself. It shall be most holy unto you.

37 And as for the perfume which thou shalt make, ye shall not make to yourselves another according to the composition thereof: it shall be holiness unto thee for the LORD.

38 Whoever shall make another like unto that to smell it shall be cut off from his people.
