13 And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,
2 Sanctify unto me all the firstborn, whatsoever openeth the womb among the children of Israel, both of man and of beast: it is mine.
3 And Moses said unto the people, Remember this day, in which ye came out from Egypt, out of the house of bondage; for by strength of hand the Lord brought you out from this place: there shall no leavened bread be eaten.
4 This day came ye out in the month Abib.
5 And it shall be when the Lord shall bring thee into the land of the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Amorites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites, which he sware unto thy fathers to give thee, a land flowing with milk and honey, that thou shalt keep this service in this month.
6 Seven days thou shalt eat unleavened bread, and in the seventh day shall be a feast to the Lord.
7 Unleavened bread shall be eaten seven days; and there shall no leavened bread be seen with thee, neither shall there be leaven seen with thee in all thy quarters.
8 And thou shalt shew thy son in that day, saying, This is done because of that which the Lord did unto me when I came forth out of Egypt.
9 And it shall be for a sign unto thee upon thine hand, and for a memorial between thine eyes, that the Lord's law may be in thy mouth: for with a strong hand hath the Lord brought thee out of Egypt.
10 Thou shalt therefore keep this ordinance in his season from year to year.
11 And it shall be when the Lord shall bring thee into the land of the Canaanites, as he sware unto thee and to thy fathers, and shall give it thee,
12 That thou shalt set apart unto the Lord all that openeth the matrix, and every firstling that cometh of a beast which thou hast; the males shall be the Lord's.
13 And every firstling of an ass thou shalt redeem with a lamb; and if thou wilt not redeem it, then thou shalt break his neck: and all the firstborn of man among thy children shalt thou redeem.
14 And it shall be when thy son asketh thee in time to come, saying, What is this? that thou shalt say unto him, By strength of hand the Lord brought us out from Egypt, from the house of bondage:
15 And it came to pass, when Pharaoh would hardly let us go, that the Lord slew all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both the firstborn of man, and the firstborn of beast: therefore I sacrifice to the Lord all that openeth the matrix, being males; but all the firstborn of my children I redeem.
16 And it shall be for a token upon thine hand, and for frontlets between thine eyes: for by strength of hand the Lord brought us forth out of Egypt.
17 And it came to pass, when Pharaoh had let the people go, that God led them not through the way of the land of the Philistines, although that was near; for God said, Lest peradventure the people repent when they see war, and they return to Egypt:
18 But God led the people about, through the way of the wilderness of the Red sea: and the children of Israel went up harnessed out of the land of Egypt.
19 And Moses took the bones of Joseph with him: for he had straitly sworn the children of Israel, saying, God will surely visit you; and ye shall carry up my bones away hence with you.
20 And they took their journey from Succoth, and encamped in Etham, in the edge of the wilderness.
21 And the Lord went before them by day in a pillar of a cloud, to lead them the way; and by night in a pillar of fire, to give them light; to go by day and night:
22 He took not away the pillar of the cloud by day, nor the pillar of fire by night, from before the people.

The Firstborn Consecrated
13 Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 2 (A)“Consecrate[a] to Me all the firstborn, whatever opens the womb among the children of Israel, both of man and beast; it is Mine.”
The Feast of Unleavened Bread(B)
3 And Moses said to the people: (C)“Remember this day in which you went out of Egypt, out of the house of [b]bondage; for (D)by strength of hand the Lord brought you out of this place. (E)No leavened bread shall be eaten. 4 (F)On this day you are going out, in the month Abib. 5 And it shall be, when the Lord (G)brings you into the (H)land of the Canaanites and the Hittites and the Amorites and the Hivites and the Jebusites, which He (I)swore to your fathers to give you, a land flowing with milk and honey, (J)that you shall keep this service in this month. 6 (K)Seven days you shall eat unleavened bread, and on the seventh day there shall be a feast to the Lord. 7 Unleavened bread shall be eaten seven days. And (L)no leavened bread shall be seen among you, nor shall leaven be seen among you in all your quarters. 8 And you shall (M)tell your son in that day, saying, ‘This is done because of what the Lord did for me when I came up from Egypt.’ 9 It shall be as (N)a sign to you on your hand and as a memorial between your eyes, that the Lord’s law may be in your mouth; for with a strong hand the Lord has brought you out of Egypt. 10 (O)You shall therefore keep this [c]ordinance in its season from year to year.
The Law of the Firstborn
11 “And it shall be, when the Lord (P)brings you into the land of the (Q)Canaanites, as He swore to you and your fathers, and gives it to you, 12 (R)that you shall [d]set apart to the Lord all that open the womb, that is, every firstborn that comes from an animal which you have; the males shall be the Lord’s. 13 But (S)every firstborn of a donkey you shall redeem with a lamb; and if you will not redeem it, then you shall break its neck. And all the firstborn of man among your sons (T)you shall redeem. 14 (U)So it shall be, when your son asks you in time to come, saying, ‘What is this?’ that you shall say to him, (V)‘By strength of hand the Lord brought us out of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. 15 And it came to pass, when Pharaoh was stubborn about letting us go, that (W)the Lord killed all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both the firstborn of man and the firstborn of beast. Therefore I sacrifice to the Lord all males that open the womb, but all the firstborn of my sons I redeem.’ 16 It shall be as (X)a sign on your hand and as frontlets between your eyes, for by strength of hand the Lord brought us out of Egypt.”
The Wilderness Way(Y)
17 Then it came to pass, when Pharaoh had let the people go, that God did not lead them by way of the land of the Philistines, although that was near; for God said, “Lest perhaps the people (Z)change their minds when they see war, and (AA)return to Egypt.” 18 So God (AB)led the people around by way of the wilderness of the Red Sea. And the children of Israel went up in orderly ranks out of the land of Egypt.
19 And Moses took the (AC)bones of (AD)Joseph with him, for he had placed the children of Israel under solemn oath, saying, (AE)“God will surely [e]visit you, and you shall carry up my bones from here with you.”
20 So (AF)they took their journey from (AG)Succoth and camped in Etham at the edge of the wilderness. 21 And (AH)the Lord went before them by day in a pillar of cloud to lead the way, and by night in a pillar of fire to give them light, so as to go by day and night. 22 He did not take away the pillar of cloud by day or the pillar of fire by night from before the people.

Consagración de los primogénitos israelitas
13 El Señor habló con Moisés y le dijo: 2 «Conságrame el primogénito de todo vientre. Míos son todos los primogénitos israelitas y todos los primeros machos de sus animales».
3 Moisés dijo al pueblo: «Acuérdense de este día en que salen de Egipto, país donde han sido esclavos y de donde el Señor los saca desplegando su poder. No coman pan con levadura. 4 Ustedes salen hoy, en el mes de aviv, 5 y en este mismo mes deberán celebrar esta ceremonia, cuando ya el Señor los haya hecho entrar en la tierra que prometió dar a los antepasados de ustedes. Se trata de la tierra de los cananeos, hititas, amorreos, heveos y jebuseos: tierra donde abundan la leche y la miel. 6 Durante siete días comerán pan sin levadura, y el día séptimo celebrarán una fiesta en honor al Señor. 7 En ningún lugar de su territorio debe haber nada que contenga levadura. Ni siquiera habrá levadura entre ustedes. Comerán pan sin levadura durante esos siete días.
8 »Ese día ustedes dirán a sus hijos: “Esto lo hacemos por lo que hizo el Señor por nosotros cuando salimos de Egipto”. 9 Y será para ustedes como una marca distintiva en la mano o en la frente, que les hará recordar que esta instrucción del Señor debe estar en sus labios, porque el Señor los sacó de Egipto con su poderosa mano. 10 Año tras año, en la misma fecha, cumplirán con este estatuto.
11 »Una vez que el Señor los haga entrar en la tierra de los cananeos y se la haya dado, conforme a la promesa que hizo a ustedes y a sus antepasados, 12 dedicarán al Señor el primogénito de todo vientre, y todo primer macho de su ganado, pues estos pertenecen al Señor. 13 El primogénito de una asna podrá ser rescatado a cambio de un cordero; pero si no se rescata, se le romperá el cuello. Todos los primogénitos de ustedes o de sus descendientes deberán ser rescatados.
14 »El día de mañana, cuando sus hijos pregunten: “¿Y esto qué significa?”, ustedes responderán: “El Señor, desplegando su poder, nos sacó de Egipto, país donde fuimos esclavos. 15 Cuando el faraón se empeñó en no dejarnos ir, el Señor quitó la vida a todos los primogénitos de Egipto, tanto de hombres como de animales. Por eso ofrecemos al Señor en sacrificio el primer macho que nace y rescatamos a nuestros primogénitos”. 16 Esto será para ustedes como una marca distintiva, en la mano o en la frente, de que el Señor nos sacó de Egipto desplegando su poder».
El paso del mar Rojo
17 Cuando el faraón dejó salir a los israelitas, Dios no los llevó por el camino que atraviesa la tierra de los filisteos, que era el más corto, pues pensó: «Si se les presentara batalla, podrían cambiar de idea y regresar a Egipto». 18 Por eso les hizo dar un rodeo por el camino del desierto, en dirección al mar Rojo.
Los israelitas salieron de Egipto en formación de combate.
19 Moisés se llevó consigo los restos de José, según este se lo había pedido a los israelitas bajo juramento. Estas habían sido las palabras de José: «Sin duda Dios vendrá a ayudarlos. Cuando esto ocurra, ustedes deberán llevarse de aquí mis huesos».
20 Los israelitas partieron de Sucot y acamparon en Etam, donde comienza el desierto. 21 De día, el Señor iba al frente de ellos en una columna de nube para indicarles el camino; de noche, los alumbraba con una columna de fuego. De ese modo, podían viajar de día y de noche. 22 Jamás la columna de nube dejaba de guiar al pueblo durante el día ni la columna de fuego durante la noche.
