逾越節
12 耶和華在埃及地告訴摩西和亞倫說： 2 “你們要以本月為正月，為一年的第一個月。 3 你們要告訴以色列全體會眾說：本月初十，他們各人要按著父家取羊羔，一家一隻。 4 如果一家的人太少，吃不了一隻羊羔，家長就要和靠近他家的鄰居按著人數共取一隻。你們預備羊羔的時候，要按著各人的食量計算。 5 你們的羊羔要毫無殘疾，一歲以內的公羊；你們可以從綿羊或山羊裡取。 6 你們要把羊羔留到本月十四日，在黃昏的時候（“在黃昏的時候”直譯是“兩黃昏之間”），以色列全體會眾要把羊羔宰殺。 7 他們要取點血，塗在吃羊羔的房屋兩邊的門柱和門楣上。 8 當那一夜，你們要吃羊羔的肉，肉要用火烤了，和無酵餅與苦菜一同吃， 9 不可吃生的，也不可用水煮；只可吃用火烤的。頭、腿和內臟都一起吃。 10 你們一點也不可留到早晨；如果有一點留到早晨，就要用火燒掉。 11 你們要這樣吃羊羔：腰間束上帶，腳上穿著鞋，手中拿著杖，快速地吃；這是耶和華的逾越節。 12 因為在那一夜我要走遍埃及地，把埃及地所有頭生的，無論是人或是牲畜，都要殺掉；我也要審判埃及的一切神祇，我是耶和華。 13 這血要在你們居住的房屋上作你們的記號；我擊打埃及地的時候，一看見這血，就越過你們去，災禍必不臨到你們身上毀滅你們。 14 這一日必作你們的記念日；你們要守這日為耶和華的節；你們要世世代代守這節日作永遠的定例。
無酵節
15 “你們要吃無酵餅七天；可是第一天就要把酵從你們的家中除去；因為從第一日起直到第七日，凡吃有酵之物的，那人必從以色列中被除滅。 16 第一日你們要有聖會，第七日你們也要有聖會；這兩日之內，除了預備各人所要吃的以外，一切工作都不可作。 17 你們要守無酵節，因為就在這一天，我把你們的軍隊從埃及地領出來；所以你們要世世代代守這一日作為永遠的定例。 18 從正月十四日晚上起，直到本月二十一日晚上止，你們要吃無酵餅。 19 七日之內在你們的家中不可有酵；因為凡吃有酵之物的，無論是外國人或是本地人，那人必從以色列的會眾中被剪除。 20 凡是有酵的，你們都不可吃；在你們一切居住的地方，你們都要吃無酵餅。”
逾越節的禮儀
21 於是，摩西把以色列的眾長老召了來，對他們說：“你們要按著家族自己選取羊羔，把這逾越節的羊羔宰殺了。 22 要拿一把牛膝草，蘸在盆中的血裡，然後把盆裡的血塗在門楣上和兩邊的門柱上；你們誰也不可出自己的房門，直到早晨。 23 因為耶和華要走遍各處擊打埃及人；他一看見門楣和兩邊的門柱上有血，就越過那門，不讓那毀滅者進入你們的房屋來擊殺你們。 24 這教訓你們必須遵守，作為你和你的子孫永遠的定例。 25 日後，你們進了耶和華應許賜給你們的那地的時候，就必須守這敬拜之禮。 26 日後，如果你們的子孫問你們：‘你們這敬拜之禮有甚麼意思？’ 27 你們就要回答：‘這是獻給耶和華逾越節的祭。耶和華擊殺埃及人的時候，越過了在埃及的以色列人的房屋，救了我們的家。’”於是人民低頭敬拜。 28 以色列人就去行了；耶和華怎樣吩咐摩西和亞倫，以色列人就照樣行了。
滅頭生之災
29 到了半夜，耶和華把埃及地所有的長子，就是從坐王位的法老的長子，直到監牢裡遭囚禁的人的長子，以及所有頭生的牲畜，都擊殺了。 30 在那一夜，法老本人和他所有的臣僕，以及全埃及的人都起來了；在埃及有極大的哀號，因為沒有一家不死人的。 31 夜裡，法老把摩西和亞倫召了來，說：“你們和以色列人都起來，離開我的人民出去，照著你們所說的，去事奉耶和華吧； 32 也照著你們所說的，連羊群牛群都帶著走吧，並且要為我祝福。” 33 埃及人催促以色列人，要他們趕快離開此地，因為他們說：“我們都要死了。” 34 以色列人就拿了沒有發過酵的生麵，用衣服把摶麵盆綁好，扛在肩頭上。 35 以色列人照著摩西的話行了，他們向埃及人索取銀器金器和衣服。 36 耶和華使以色列人在埃及人眼前蒙恩，埃及人就給了他們所要求的。這樣，他們就奪去了埃及人的財物。
以色列人出埃及
37 以色列人從蘭塞起行到疏割去，除了小孩子以外，步行的男人約有六十萬。 38 又有混雜多族的一群人和他們一同上去；他們還帶著羊群牛群和無數的牲畜同去。 39 他們把從埃及帶出來的生麵烘成了無酵的圓餅。這生麵原是沒有發過酵的，因為他們被驅逐離開埃及，所以不能停留，也沒有為自己預備食糧。
40 以色列人住在埃及的時間共有四百三十年之久。 41 就在四百三十年屆滿的那一天，耶和華的全軍都從埃及地出來了。 42 這是向耶和華守的一夜，因為耶和華把他們從埃及地領出來，所以這一夜是所有以色列人世世代代向耶和華守的一夜。
逾越節條例
43 耶和華對摩西和亞倫說：“逾越節的定例是這樣，凡是外族人都不可以吃羊羔的肉。 44 但是各人用銀子買回來的奴僕，如果你給他行了割禮，他就可以吃了。 45 寄居和受雇的都不可以吃。 46 必須在同一間房子裡吃，你不可把一點肉從房子裡帶到外面；羊羔的骨頭，一根也不可折斷。 47 以色列全體會眾都要守這逾越節。 48 如果有外族人寄居在你們中間，也願向耶和華守逾越節，他所有的男子都要受割禮，然後他才可以前來守逾越節；他就必像本地人一樣，但所有未受割禮的人都不可以吃這羊羔。 49 本地人和寄居在你們中間的外族人，都同屬一例。” 50 所有以色列人都奉行了；耶和華怎樣吩咐摩西和亞倫，他們就怎樣行了。 51 就在這一天，耶和華按著他們的軍隊，把以色列人從埃及地領出來。

12 Sinabi(A) ni Yahweh kina Moises at Aaron sa Egipto, 2 “Mula ngayon, ang buwang ito ang siyang magiging unang buwan ng taon para sa inyo. 3 At sabihin ninyo sa buong sambayanan ng Israel na sa ikasampung araw ng buwang ito, bawat pamilya ay pipili ng isang tupa o batang kambing para sa kanila. 4 Kung maliit ang pamilya at hindi makakaubos ng isang buong tupa, magsasalo sila ng malapit na kapitbahay, na hindi rin makakaubos ng isang buo. Ang dami ng magsasalu-salo sa isang tupa ay ibabatay sa dami ng makakain ng bawat isa. 5 Kailangang lalaki ang tupa o ang kambing, isang taóng gulang, walang kapintasan. 6 Aalagaan ito hanggang sa ikalabing apat ng buwan at sa kinagabihan, sabay-sabay na papatayin ng buong bayan ang kani-kanilang inalagaang hayop. 7 Kukuha sila ng dugo nito at ipapahid sa magkabilang poste at itaas ng pintuan ng bahay na kakainan ng kinatay na hayop. 8 Sa gabi ring iyon, lilitsunin ito at kakaining kasama ng tinapay na walang pampaalsa at ng mapapait na gulay. 9 Huwag ninyong kakainin nang hilaw o nilaga ang hayop; kundi lilitsunin ninyo ito nang buo, kasama ang ulo, ang mga pata at ang laman-loob. 10 Huwag kayong magtitira para sa kinabukasan. Ito ang Paskwa ni Yahweh.
12 “Sa gabing iyon, lilibutin ko ang buong Egipto at papatayin ang lahat ng panganay na lalaki, maging tao man o hayop. At paparusahan ko ang lahat ng diyus-diyosan sa Egipto. Ako si Yahweh. 13 Dugo ang magsisilbing palatandaan ng mga bahay na inyong tinitirhan. Lahat ng bahay na makita kong may pahid ng dugo ay lalampasan ko, at walang pinsalang mangyayari sa inyo habang pinaparusahan ko ang buong Egipto. 14 Ang(B) araw na ito'y ipagdiriwang ninyo sa lahat ng inyong salinlahi bilang pista ni Yahweh. Sa pamamagitan nito'y maaalala ninyo ang aking ginawa.

15 “Pitong araw kayong kakain ng tinapay na walang pampaalsa. Sa unang araw pa lamang, aalisin ninyo sa inyong tahanan ang lahat ng pampaalsa, sapagkat ititiwalag ang sinumang kumain ng tinapay na may pampaalsa sa loob ng pitong araw na iyon. 16 Sa una at ikapitong araw ay magtitipun-tipon kayo upang sumamba. Sa loob ng dalawang araw na ito ay walang gagawa ng anuman liban sa paghahanda ng pagkain. 17 Ang pagdiriwang ng Pista ng Tinapay na Walang Pampaalsa ay gaganapin ninyo taun-taon sapagkat sa araw na ito, inilabas ko sa Egipto ang inyong mga lipi. Ito'y gagawin ninyo sa habang panahon ng inyong mga salinlahi. 18 Tinapay na walang pampaalsa ang inyong kakainin simula sa gabi ng ikalabing apat na araw hanggang sa gabi ng ikadalawampu't isa ng unang buwan ng taon. 19 Sa loob ng pitong araw, hindi dapat magkaroon ng pampaalsa sa inyong mga bahay. Ititiwalag sa sambayanan ng Israel ang sinumang kumain ng tinapay na may pampaalsa, maging siya'y dayuhan o purong Israelita. 20 Saanman kayo naroroon, huwag kayong kakain ng tinapay na may pampaalsa tuwing ganitong panahon. Ang kakainin ninyo'y tinapay na walang pampaalsa.”
Ang Unang Paskwa
21 Tinawag nga ni Moises ang mga pinuno ng Israel at sinabi sa kanila, “Pumili kayo ng isang tupa para sa inyong sari-sariling pamilya at katayin ninyo ito para sa Paskwa. 22 Kumuha kayo ng sanga ng halamang hisopo, basain ito ng dugo ng tupa at ipahid sa magkabilang poste at itaas ng inyong pintuan. At isa man sa inyo ay huwag lalabas ng bahay hanggang kinabukasan. 23 Sa(C) gabing iyon, lilibutin ni Yahweh ang buong Egipto at papatayin ang mga Egipcio. Lahat ng bahay na makita niyang may pahid na dugo sa magkabilang poste at itaas ng pintuan ay hindi niya hahayaang pasukin ng Anghel ng Kamatayan. 24 Sundin ninyo ang mga tuntuning ito at palagiang ganapin, pati ng inyong mga anak. 25 Patuloy ninyong ganapin ito maging sa lupaing ipinangako sa inyo ni Yahweh. 26 Kapag itinanong ng inyong mga anak kung bakit ninyo ginagawa ito, 27 sabihin ninyong ito'y pag-aalaala sa Paskwa ni Yahweh nang lampasan niya ang bahay ng mga Israelita at patayin niya ang mga Egipcio.”
Nang masabi ito ni Moises, yumuko ang buong bayan at sumamba sa Diyos. 28 Pagkatapos, umuwi na sila at isinagawa ang iniutos ni Yahweh sa pamamagitan nina Moises at Aaron.
Ang Huling Salot: Namatay ang Lahat ng Panganay
29 Nang(D) hating-gabing iyon, pinatay ni Yahweh ang lahat ng panganay na lalaki sa buong Egipto, mula sa panganay ng Faraon at tagapagmana ng trono, hanggang sa anak ng bilanggong nasa piitan; namatay din ang panganay ng mga hayop. 30 Nang gabing iyon, nagising ang Faraon, ang kanyang mga tauhan at lahat ng Egipcio, at nagkaroon ng napakalakas na iyakan sa buong Egipto, sapagkat lahat ng bahay ay namatayan ng panganay na lalaki. 31 Nang gabi ring iyo'y ipinatawag ng Faraon sina Moises at Aaron at kanyang sinabi, “Sige, umalis na kayo sa Egipto! Lumakad na kayo at sumamba kay Yahweh tulad ng hinihiling ninyo. 32 Dalhin na ninyo pati inyong mga tupa, kambing at baka. Umalis na kayo at ipanalangin din ninyo ako.”
33 Inapura sila ng mga Egipcio at sinabi sa kanila, “Mamamatay kaming lahat kapag hindi pa kayo umalis dito.” 34 Kaya, binalot nila ng damit ang minamasang harina na di na nalagyan ng pampaalsa, ni alisin sa sisidlan; pinasan nila iyon at umalis. 35 Noo'y(E) nahingi na nila sa mga Egipcio ang mga alahas na pilak at ginto at mga damit, tulad ng iniutos sa kanila ni Moises. 36 Ibinigay ng mga Egipcio ang anumang hingin ng mga Israelita sapagkat niloob na ni Yahweh na sila'y igalang ng mga ito. Sa ganitong paraan, nasamsam nila ang kayamanan ng mga Egipcio.
Ang Pag-alis ng mga Israelita sa Egipto
37 Mula sa Rameses, naglakbay ang mga Israelita patungong Sucot; humigit-kumulang sa animnaraang libo ang mga lalaki bukod pa sa mga babae at mga bata. 38 Maraming hindi Israelita ang sumama sa kanila; marami rin silang dalang tupa, kambing at baka. 39 At niluto nila ang dala nilang gagawing tinapay na wala pang pampaalsa. Hindi nila ito nakuhang lagyan pa ng pampaalsa sapagkat apurahan ang kanilang pag-alis sa Egipto; wala na silang panahong magluto ng pagkain.
40 Nanirahan(F) ang mga Israelita sa Egipto nang 430 taon. 41 Huling araw ng ika-430 taon nang umalis sa Egipto ang lahat ng lipi ng bayan ni Yahweh. 42 Nang gabing iyon sila iniligtas ni Yahweh at inilabas sa Egipto, kaya ang gabing iyon ay itinalaga nila sa pag-aalaala sa pagliligtas sa kanila ni Yahweh. Ang pag-aalaalang iyon ay patuloy nilang gagawin habang panahon.
Ang mga Tuntunin tungkol sa Paskwa
43 Sinabi ni Yahweh kina Moises at Aaron, “Ito ang mga tuntunin tungkol sa Paskwa: Bawal kumain nito ang mga dayuhan; 44 ngunit ang alilang binili ninyo ay maaaring pakainin nito kung siya ay tuli na. 45 Hindi rin maaaring kumain nito ang mga dayuhang nakikipanuluyan lamang sa inyo, o kaya'y ang mga upahang manggagawa. 46 Ang(G) korderong pampaskwa ay dapat kainin sa loob ng bahay na pinaglutuan nito. Huwag ilalabas kahit kapiraso nito at huwag ding babaliin kahit isang buto. 47 Ang Pista ng Paskwa ay ipagdiriwang ng buong Israel. 48 Lahat ng dayuhang nakikipamayan sa inyo na gustong makipagdiwang sa Paskwa ay kailangang tuliin muna pati ang kanyang mga anak na lalaki bago pasalihin sa pagdiriwang. Sa gayo'y ituturing silang katutubong Israelita. 12 The Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron in the land of Egypt: 2 “This month will be the first month of the year for you. 3 Both of you are to tell the whole community of Israel: On the tenth day of this month each man must get one lamb. It is for the people in his house. 4 There may not be enough people in his house to eat a whole lamb. Then he must share it with his closest neighbor. There must be enough lamb for everyone to eat. 5 The lamb must be a one-year-old male. It must have nothing wrong with it. This animal can be either a young sheep or a young goat. 6 Keep the animal with you to take care of it until the fourteenth day of the month. On that day all the people of the community of Israel will kill these animals. They will do this as soon as the sun goes down. 7 The people must take some of the blood. They must put it on the sides and tops of the doorframes. These are the doorframes of the houses where they eat the lambs. 8 On this night they must roast the lamb over a fire. Then they must eat it with bitter herbs and bread made without yeast. 9 Do not eat the lamb raw or boiled in water. Roast the whole lamb over a fire—with its head, legs and inner organs. 10 You must not leave any of it until morning. But if any of it is left over until morning, you must burn it with fire.
11 “This is the way you must eat it: You must be fully dressed as if you were going on a trip. You must have your sandals on, and you must have your walking stick in your hand. You must eat it in a hurry. This is the Lord’s Passover.
12 “That night I will go through the land of Egypt. I will kill all the firstborn of animals and people in the land of Egypt. I will punish all the gods of Egypt. I am the Lord. 13 But the blood will be a sign on the houses where you are. When I see the blood, I will pass over you. Nothing terrible will hurt you when I punish the land of Egypt.
14 “You are always to remember this day. Celebrate it with a feast to the Lord. Your descendants are to honor the Lord with this feast from now on. 15 For this feast you must eat bread made without yeast for seven days. On the first day of this feast, you are to remove all the yeast from your houses. No one should eat any yeast for the full seven days of the feast. If anyone eats yeast, then that person will be separated from Israel. 16 You are to have holy meetings on the first and last days of the feast. You must not do any work on these days. The only work you may do on these days is to prepare your meals. 17 You must celebrate the Feast of Unleavened Bread. Do this because on this very day I brought your divisions of people out of Egypt. So all of your descendants must celebrate this day. This is a law that will last from now on. 18 You are to eat bread made without yeast. Start this on the evening of the fourteenth day of the first month of your year. Eat this until the evening of the twenty-first day. 19 For seven days there must not be any yeast in your houses. Anybody who eats yeast during this time must be separated from the community of Israel. This includes Israelites and non-Israelites. 20 During this feast you must not eat yeast. You must eat bread made without yeast wherever you live.”
21 Then Moses called all the elders of Israel together. He told them, “Get the animals for your families. Kill the animals for the Passover. 22 Take a branch of the hyssop plant and dip it into the bowl filled with blood. Wipe the blood on the sides and tops of the doorframes. No one may leave his house until morning. 23 The Lord will go through Egypt to kill the Egyptians. He will see the blood on the sides and tops of the doorframes. Then the Lord will pass over that house. He will not let the one who brings death come into your houses and kill you.
24 “You must keep this command. This law is for you and your descendants from now on. 25 Do this when you go to the land the Lord has promised to give to you. 26 When your children ask you, ‘Why are we doing these things?’ 27 you will say, ‘This is the Passover sacrifice to honor the Lord. When we were in Egypt, the Lord passed over the houses of Israel. The Lord killed the Egyptians, but he saved our homes.’” So now the people bowed down and worshiped the Lord. 28 They did just as the Lord commanded Moses and Aaron.
29 At midnight the Lord killed all the firstborn sons in the land of Egypt. The firstborn of the king, who sat on the throne, died. Even the firstborn of the prisoner in jail died. Also all the firstborn farm animals died. 30 The king, his officers and all the Egyptians got up during the night. Someone had died in every house. So there was loud crying everywhere in Egypt.
Israel Leaves Egypt
31 During the night the king called for Moses and Aaron. He said to them, “Get up and leave my people. You and your people may do as you have asked. Go and worship the Lord. 32 Take all of your sheep and cattle as you have asked. Go. And also bless me.” 33 The Egyptians also asked the Israelites to hurry and leave. They said, “If you don’t leave, we will all die!”
34 The people of Israel took their dough before the yeast was added. They wrapped the bowls for making dough in clothing and carried them on their shoulders. 35 The people of Israel did what Moses told them to do. They asked their Egyptian neighbors for things made of silver and gold and for clothing. 36 The Lord caused the Egyptians to think well of the Israelites. So the Israelites took rich gifts from the Egyptians.
37 The Israelites traveled from Rameses to Succoth. There were about 600,000 men walking. This does not include the women and children. 38 Many other people who were not Israelites went with them. A large number of sheep, goats and cattle went with them. 39 The Israelites used the dough they had brought out of Egypt. They baked loaves of bread without yeast. The dough had no yeast in it because they had been rushed out of Egypt. So they had no time to get food ready for their trip.
40 The people of Israel had lived in Egypt for 430 years. 41 On the day the 430 years ended, the Lord’s divisions of people left Egypt. 42 That night the Lord kept watch to bring them out of Egypt. So on this same night the Israelites are to keep watch. They are to do this to honor the Lord from now on.
43 The Lord told Moses and Aaron, “Here are the rules for Passover: No foreigner is to eat the Passover. 44 Suppose a person buys a slave and circumcises him. Then the slave may eat the Passover. 45 But no one who lives for a short time in your country may eat it. No hired worker may eat it.
46 “The meal must be eaten inside the house. None of the meat is to be taken outside the house. Don’t break any of the bones. 47 The whole community of Israel must take part in this feast. 48 A foreigner who lives with you may share in the Lord’s Passover. But first all the males in his house must be circumcised. Then, since he will be like a citizen of Israel, he may share in the meal. But a man who is not circumcised may not eat the Passover meal. 49 The same rules apply to an Israelite born in the country. And they apply to a foreigner living there.”
50 So all the Israelites did just as the Lord had commanded Moses and Aaron. 51 Then on that same day, the Lord led the Israelites out of Egypt. The people left by divisions.

The Passover and the Festival of Unleavened Bread(A)
12 The Lord said to Moses and Aaron in Egypt, 2 “This month is to be for you the first month,(B) the first month of your year. 3 Tell the whole community of Israel that on the tenth day of this month each man is to take a lamb[a](C) for his family, one for each household.(D) 4 If any household is too small for a whole lamb, they must share one with their nearest neighbor, having taken into account the number of people there are. You are to determine the amount of lamb needed in accordance with what each person will eat. 5 The animals you choose must be year-old males without defect,(E) and you may take them from the sheep or the goats. 6 Take care of them until the fourteenth day of the month,(F) when all the members of the community of Israel must slaughter them at twilight.(G) 7 Then they are to take some of the blood(H) and put it on the sides and tops of the doorframes of the houses where they eat the lambs. 8 That same night(I) they are to eat the meat roasted(J) over the fire, along with bitter herbs,(K) and bread made without yeast.(L) 9 Do not eat the meat raw or boiled in water, but roast it over a fire—with the head, legs and internal organs.(M) 10 Do not leave any of it till morning;(N) if some is left till morning, you must burn it. 11 This is how you are to eat it: with your cloak tucked into your belt, your sandals on your feet and your staff in your hand. Eat it in haste;(O) it is the Lord’s Passover.(P)
12 “On that same night I will pass through(Q) Egypt and strike down(R) every firstborn(S) of both people and animals, and I will bring judgment on all the gods(T) of Egypt. I am the Lord.(U) 13 The blood will be a sign for you on the houses where you are, and when I see the blood, I will pass over(V) you. No destructive plague will touch you when I strike Egypt.(W)
14 “This is a day you are to commemorate;(X) for the generations to come you shall celebrate it as a festival to the Lord—a lasting ordinance.(Y) 15 For seven days you are to eat bread made without yeast.(Z) On the first day remove the yeast from your houses, for whoever eats anything with yeast in it from the first day through the seventh must be cut off(AA) from Israel. 16 On the first day hold a sacred assembly, and another one on the seventh day. Do no work(AB) at all on these days, except to prepare food for everyone to eat; that is all you may do.
17 “Celebrate the Festival of Unleavened Bread,(AC) because it was on this very day that I brought your divisions out of Egypt.(AD) Celebrate this day as a lasting ordinance for the generations to come.(AE) 18 In the first month(AF) you are to eat bread made without yeast, from the evening of the fourteenth day until the evening of the twenty-first day. 19 For seven days no yeast is to be found in your houses. And anyone, whether foreigner(AG) or native-born, who eats anything with yeast in it must be cut off(AH) from the community of Israel. 20 Eat nothing made with yeast. Wherever you live,(AI) you must eat unleavened bread.”(AJ)
21 Then Moses summoned all the elders of Israel and said to them, “Go at once and select the animals for your families and slaughter the Passover(AK) lamb. 22 Take a bunch of hyssop,(AL) dip it into the blood in the basin and put some of the blood(AM) on the top and on both sides of the doorframe. None of you shall go out of the door of your house until morning. 23 When the Lord goes through the land to strike(AN) down the Egyptians, he will see the blood(AO) on the top and sides of the doorframe and will pass over(AP) that doorway, and he will not permit the destroyer(AQ) to enter your houses and strike you down.
24 “Obey these instructions as a lasting ordinance(AR) for you and your descendants. 25 When you enter the land(AS) that the Lord will give you as he promised, observe this ceremony. 26 And when your children(AT) ask you, ‘What does this ceremony mean to you?’ 27 then tell them, ‘It is the Passover(AU) sacrifice to the Lord, who passed over the houses of the Israelites in Egypt and spared our homes when he struck down the Egyptians.’”(AV) Then the people bowed down and worshiped.(AW) 28 The Israelites did just what the Lord commanded(AX) Moses and Aaron.
29 At midnight(AY) the Lord(AZ) struck down all the firstborn(BA) in Egypt, from the firstborn of Pharaoh, who sat on the throne, to the firstborn of the prisoner, who was in the dungeon, and the firstborn of all the livestock(BB) as well. 30 Pharaoh and all his officials and all the Egyptians got up during the night, and there was loud wailing(BC) in Egypt, for there was not a house without someone dead.
The Exodus
31 During the night Pharaoh summoned Moses and Aaron and said, “Up! Leave my people, you and the Israelites! Go, worship(BD) the Lord as you have requested. 32 Take your flocks and herds,(BE) as you have said, and go. And also bless(BF) me.”
33 The Egyptians urged the people to hurry(BG) and leave(BH) the country. “For otherwise,” they said, “we will all die!”(BI) 34 So the people took their dough before the yeast was added, and carried it on their shoulders in kneading troughs(BJ) wrapped in clothing. 35 The Israelites did as Moses instructed and asked the Egyptians for articles of silver and gold(BK) and for clothing.(BL) 36 The Lord had made the Egyptians favorably disposed(BM) toward the people, and they gave them what they asked for; so they plundered(BN) the Egyptians.
37 The Israelites journeyed from Rameses(BO) to Sukkoth.(BP) There were about six hundred thousand men(BQ) on foot, besides women and children. 38 Many other people(BR) went up with them, and also large droves of livestock, both flocks and herds. 39 With the dough the Israelites had brought from Egypt, they baked loaves of unleavened bread. The dough was without yeast because they had been driven out(BS) of Egypt and did not have time to prepare food for themselves.
40 Now the length of time the Israelite people lived in Egypt[b] was 430 years.(BT) 41 At the end of the 430 years, to the very day, all the Lord’s divisions(BU) left Egypt.(BV) 42 Because the Lord kept vigil that night to bring them out of Egypt, on this night all the Israelites are to keep vigil to honor the Lord for the generations to come.(BW)
Passover Restrictions
43 The Lord said to Moses and Aaron, “These are the regulations for the Passover meal:(BX)
“No foreigner(BY) may eat it. 44 Any slave you have bought may eat it after you have circumcised(BZ) him, 45 but a temporary resident or a hired worker(CA) may not eat it.
46 “It must be eaten inside the house; take none of the meat outside the house. Do not break any of the bones.(CB) 47 The whole community of Israel must celebrate it.
48 “A foreigner residing among you who wants to celebrate the Lord’s Passover must have all the males in his household circumcised; then he may take part like one born in the land.(CC) No uncircumcised(CD) male may eat it. 49 The same law applies both to the native-born and to the foreigner(CE) residing among you.”
50 All the Israelites did just what the Lord had commanded(CF) Moses and Aaron. 51 And on that very day the Lord brought the Israelites out of Egypt(CG) by their divisions.(CH)
