上帝呼召摩西
3 摩西為岳父米甸祭司葉忒羅放羊。一天他領著羊群穿越曠野，來到上帝的山——何烈山。 2 忽然有耶和華的天使在荊棘裡的火焰中向他顯現。摩西看見荊棘雖然在燃燒，卻沒有被燒毀。 3 摩西想：「我要過去看這個奇異的景象，荊棘為什麼沒有被燒掉呢？」 4 耶和華上帝見他要上前觀看，就從荊棘叢中呼喚他說：「摩西！摩西！」摩西說：「我在這裡。」 5 上帝說：「別再靠近，脫下你腳上的鞋子，因為你所站的地方是聖地。」 6 又說：「我是你祖先的上帝，是亞伯拉罕的上帝，以撒的上帝，雅各的上帝。」摩西害怕看上帝，就把臉蒙起來。 7 耶和華說：「我已經看見我子民在埃及所受的苦難，聽見了他們因監工的壓迫而發出的呼求。我知道他們的痛苦。 8 我下來是要從埃及人手中救他們，帶他們離開那裡，到一個遼闊肥沃的奶蜜之鄉，就是現在迦南人、赫人、亞摩利人、比利洗人、希未人和耶布斯人居住的地方。 9 現在，以色列人的呼求傳到我耳中，我也看到了埃及人怎樣壓迫他們。 10 現在去吧，我要派你到法老那裡，帶領我的以色列子民離開埃及。」 11 但摩西對上帝說：「我是誰啊？怎麼能去見法老，把以色列人從埃及領出來呢？」 12 上帝說：「我必與你同在，你帶百姓離開埃及後，你們必在這座山上事奉我——這將是我派你去的證據。」 13 摩西問上帝：「假如我到以色列人那裡，對他們說，『你們祖先的上帝派我來你們這裡。』他們如果問我，『祂叫什麼名字？』我該怎樣回答他們呢？」 14 上帝對摩西說：「我是自有永有者。你要這樣回答以色列人，『那位自有永有者派我到你們這裡。』」 15 上帝又對摩西說：「你要告訴以色列人是我派遣你到他們那裡，我是他們祖先的上帝耶和華，是亞伯拉罕的上帝，以撒的上帝，雅各的上帝。耶和華是我的名字，直到永遠，世世代代的人都要這樣稱呼我。 16 你去招聚以色列的長老，對他們說，『你們祖先的上帝耶和華，就是亞伯拉罕、以撒、雅各的上帝向我顯現，說祂關切你們，知道你們在埃及的遭遇。 17 祂應許要帶領你們脫離在埃及所受的苦難，到迦南人、赫人、亞摩利人、比利洗人，希未人和耶布斯人住的地方，那裡是奶蜜之鄉。』 18 以色列的長老們必定聽從你的話，你就跟他們一起去見埃及王，對他說，『希伯來人的上帝耶和華向我們顯現。現在請你容許我們走三天的路程，到曠野去，向我們的上帝耶和華獻祭。』 19 我也知道除非我用大能的手向他施壓，不然埃及王不會讓你們離開。 20 因此，我必伸手行各種神蹟攻擊埃及，之後他必讓你們離開。 21 我必使埃及人恩待你們，好叫你們不致空手離開埃及。 22 你們的婦女只管向埃及鄰居及住在鄰居家的婦女索取金器、銀器和衣服，給自己的兒女穿戴，你們必這樣奪取埃及人的財物。」

3 Một ngày nọ, Mô-se đang chăn chiên cho Giê-trô. Giê-trô là thầy tế lễ của vùng Mi-đi-an và là cha vợ Mô-se. Khi dẫn bầy súc vật về phía tây sa mạc, Mô-se đến Hô-rếp [a] là núi của Thượng Đế. 2 Một thiên sứ của CHÚA hiện ra cùng ông trong đám lửa phát ra từ một bụi cây.
Mô-se thấy bụi cây đang cháy nhưng không tàn. 3 Nên ông bảo, “Ta phải đến gần xem chuyện lạ nầy mới được. Tại sao bụi cây nầy cháy mãi không tàn?”
4 Khi thấy Mô-se đến gần xem bụi cây, Thượng Đế từ trong bụi cây gọi ông, “Mô-se, Mô-se!”
Mô-se liền thưa, “Dạ, con đây.”
5 Thượng Đế bảo, “Chớ đến gần hơn nữa. Hãy cởi dép ra, vì con đang đứng trên đất thánh. 6 Ta là Thượng Đế của tổ tiên con, Thượng Đế của Áp-ra-ham, Thượng Đế của Y-sác và Thượng Đế của Gia-cốp.”
Mô-se lấy tay che mặt lại, vì ông sợ nhìn thấy Thượng Đế.
7 CHÚA bảo, “Ta đã trông thấy nỗi khổ cực của dân ta trong xứ Ai-cập. Ta đã nghe thấy tiếng kêu than của họ, khi các cai nô lệ hành hạ họ. Ta rất lo âu về sự đau khổ của họ, 8 nên ta ngự xuống để giải cứu họ khỏi tay người Ai-cập. Ta sẽ mang họ ra khỏi xứ đó và dẫn họ đến một xứ tốt tươi [b], và phì nhiêu, không còn gặp khốn khổ nữa [c]. Đó là đất của dân Ca-na-an, dân Hê-tít, dân A-mô-rít, dân Phê-ri-sít, dân Hê-vít, và dân Giê-bu-sít. 9 Ta đã nghe tiếng kêu than của dân Ít-ra-en và đã thấy cách người Ai-cập hành hạ họ. 10 Nên ta sai con đi đến vua Ai-cập. Hãy đi, dẫn dắt dân ta, tức dân Ít-ra-en ra khỏi Ai-cập!”
11 Nhưng Mô-se thưa cùng Thượng Đế, “Con là ai mà đến với vua và dẫn dắt dân Ít-ra-en ra khỏi Ai-cập được?”
12 Thượng Đế bảo, “Ta sẽ ở cùng con. Đây là dấu hiệu ta sai con: Sau khi con dẫn dân chúng ra khỏi Ai-cập, các con sẽ thờ phụng ta trên hòn núi nầy.”
13 Mô-se thưa cùng Thượng Đế, “Khi con đi đến dân Ít-ra-en con sẽ bảo họ, ‘Thượng Đế của cha ông các anh em sai tôi đến cùng anh em.’ Nhưng nếu họ hỏi, ‘Tên Ngài là gì?’ thì con nói làm sao?”
14 Thượng Đế đáp, “Ta là Đấng Hằng Hữu [d]. Khi con đi đến cùng dân Ít-ra-en thì cứ bảo họ, ‘Đấng Hằng Hữu sai tôi đến cùng anh em.’”
15 Thượng Đế bảo Mô-se, “Con phải bảo dân chúng như sau: ‘CHÚA là Thượng Đế của tổ tiên anh em, tức Thượng Đế của Áp-ra-ham, Thượng Đế của Y-sác, và Thượng Đế của Gia-cốp. Ngài sai tôi đến cùng anh em.’ Đó là danh vĩnh viễn của ta, từ nay về sau dân chúng sẽ biết ta qua danh đó.”
16 “Hãy đi tập họp các bô lão và bảo họ như sau: ‘CHÚA là Thượng Đế của tổ tiên anh em, là Áp-ra-ham, Y-sác và Gia-cốp, đã hiện ra cùng tôi. Ngài bảo: Ta lo lắng cho các con, ta đã thấy tình trạng của các con tại Ai-cập. 17 Ta đã hứa sẽ rút các con ra khỏi cảnh khốn khó tại Ai-cập. Ta sẽ dẫn các con đi đến xứ dân Ca-na-an, dân Hê-tít, dân A-mô-rít, dân Phê-ri-sít, dân Hê-vít và dân Giê-bu-sít. Đó là một miền đất phì nhiêu.’
18 Các bô lão sẽ nghe lời con. Rồi con và các bô lão của dân Ít-ra-en sẽ đi đến vua Ai-cập và thưa rằng, ‘CHÚA là Thượng Đế của người Do-thái đã hiện ra cùng chúng tôi. Xin vua hãy cho phép chúng tôi đi vào sa mạc ba ngày đặng dâng của lễ cho Thượng Đế, CHÚA chúng tôi.’
19 Nhưng ta biết vua Ai-cập sẽ không cho các con đi đâu. Chỉ có một quyền năng lớn lao mới buộc người thả các con đi. 20 Nên ta sẽ dùng quyền năng lớn của ta để địch lại nước Ai-cập. Ta sẽ dùng các phép lạ đánh Ai-cập. Sau đó, vua sẽ để cho các con ra đi. 21 Ta sẽ làm cho người Ai-cập có thiện cảm với người Ít-ra-en. Nên khi các con ra đi họ sẽ biếu quà cho các con.
22 Mỗi người đàn bà hãy xin người láng giềng Ai-cập hoặc bất cứ người đàn bà Ai-cập nào sống chung nhà với mình những của báu: bạc, vàng, và áo quần. Các con hãy đeo những tặng phẩm đó vào con cái các con khi rời Ai-cập. Đó là cách các con sẽ lột trần người Ai-cập.”

Moses and the Burning Bush
3 Now Moses was tending the flock of Jethro(A) his father-in-law, the priest of Midian,(B) and he led the flock to the far side of the wilderness and came to Horeb,(C) the mountain(D) of God. 2 There the angel of the Lord(E) appeared to him in flames of fire(F) from within a bush.(G) Moses saw that though the bush was on fire it did not burn up. 3 So Moses thought, “I will go over and see this strange sight—why the bush does not burn up.”
4 When the Lord saw that he had gone over to look, God called(H) to him from within the bush,(I) “Moses! Moses!”
And Moses said, “Here I am.”(J)
5 “Do not come any closer,”(K) God said. “Take off your sandals, for the place where you are standing is holy ground.”(L) 6 Then he said, “I am the God of your father,[a] the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob.”(M) At this, Moses hid(N) his face, because he was afraid to look at God.(O)
7 The Lord said, “I have indeed seen(P) the misery(Q) of my people in Egypt. I have heard them crying out because of their slave drivers, and I am concerned(R) about their suffering.(S) 8 So I have come down(T) to rescue them from the hand of the Egyptians and to bring them up out of that land into a good and spacious land,(U) a land flowing with milk and honey(V)—the home of the Canaanites, Hittites, Amorites, Perizzites, Hivites(W) and Jebusites.(X) 9 And now the cry of the Israelites has reached me, and I have seen the way the Egyptians are oppressing(Y) them. 10 So now, go. I am sending(Z) you to Pharaoh to bring my people the Israelites out of Egypt.”(AA)
11 But Moses said to God, “Who am I(AB) that I should go to Pharaoh and bring the Israelites out of Egypt?”
12 And God said, “I will be with you.(AC) And this will be the sign(AD) to you that it is I who have sent you: When you have brought the people out of Egypt, you[b] will worship God on this mountain.(AE)”
13 Moses said to God, “Suppose I go to the Israelites and say to them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you,’ and they ask me, ‘What is his name?’(AF) Then what shall I tell them?”
14 God said to Moses, “I am who I am.[c] This is what you are to say to the Israelites: ‘I am(AG) has sent me to you.’”
15 God also said to Moses, “Say to the Israelites, ‘The Lord,[d] the God of your fathers(AH)—the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob(AI)—has sent me to you.’
16 “Go, assemble the elders(AL) of Israel and say to them, ‘The Lord, the God of your fathers—the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob(AM)—appeared to me and said: I have watched over you and have seen(AN) what has been done to you in Egypt. 17 And I have promised to bring you up out of your misery in Egypt(AO) into the land of the Canaanites, Hittites, Amorites, Perizzites, Hivites and Jebusites—a land flowing with milk and honey.’(AP)
18 “The elders of Israel will listen(AQ) to you. Then you and the elders are to go to the king of Egypt and say to him, ‘The Lord, the God of the Hebrews,(AR) has met(AS) with us. Let us take a three-day journey(AT) into the wilderness to offer sacrifices(AU) to the Lord our God.’ 19 But I know that the king of Egypt will not let you go unless a mighty hand(AV) compels him. 20 So I will stretch out my hand(AW) and strike the Egyptians with all the wonders(AX) that I will perform among them. After that, he will let you go.(AY)
21 “And I will make the Egyptians favorably disposed(AZ) toward this people, so that when you leave you will not go empty-handed.(BA) 22 Every woman is to ask her neighbor and any woman living in her house for articles of silver(BB) and gold(BC) and for clothing, which you will put on your sons and daughters. And so you will plunder(BD) the Egyptians.”(BE)

3 Now Moses kept the flock of Jethro his father in law, the priest of Midian: and he led the flock to the backside of the desert, and came to the mountain of God, even to Horeb.
2 And the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush: and he looked, and, behold, the bush burned with fire, and the bush was not consumed.
3 And Moses said, I will now turn aside, and see this great sight, why the bush is not burnt.
4 And when the Lord saw that he turned aside to see, God called unto him out of the midst of the bush, and said, Moses, Moses. And he said, Here am I.
5 And he said, Draw not nigh hither: put off thy shoes from off thy feet, for the place whereon thou standest is holy ground.
6 Moreover he said, I am the God of thy father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. And Moses hid his face; for he was afraid to look upon God.
7 And the Lord said, I have surely seen the affliction of my people which are in Egypt, and have heard their cry by reason of their taskmasters; for I know their sorrows;
8 And I am come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up out of that land unto a good land and a large, unto a land flowing with milk and honey; unto the place of the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites.
9 Now therefore, behold, the cry of the children of Israel is come unto me: and I have also seen the oppression wherewith the Egyptians oppress them.
10 Come now therefore, and I will send thee unto Pharaoh, that thou mayest bring forth my people the children of Israel out of Egypt.
11 And Moses said unto God, Who am I, that I should go unto Pharaoh, and that I should bring forth the children of Israel out of Egypt?
12 And he said, Certainly I will be with thee; and this shall be a token unto thee, that I have sent thee: When thou hast brought forth the people out of Egypt, ye shall serve God upon this mountain.
13 And Moses said unto God, Behold, when I come unto the children of Israel, and shall say unto them, The God of your fathers hath sent me unto you; and they shall say to me, What is his name? what shall I say unto them?
14 And God said unto Moses, I Am That I Am: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I Am hath sent me unto you.
15 And God said moreover unto Moses, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, the Lord God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, hath sent me unto you: this is my name for ever, and this is my memorial unto all generations.
16 Go, and gather the elders of Israel together, and say unto them, The Lord God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, of Isaac, and of Jacob, appeared unto me, saying, I have surely visited you, and seen that which is done to you in Egypt:
17 And I have said, I will bring you up out of the affliction of Egypt unto the land of the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites, unto a land flowing with milk and honey.
18 And they shall hearken to thy voice: and thou shalt come, thou and the elders of Israel, unto the king of Egypt, and ye shall say unto him, The Lord God of the Hebrews hath met with us: and now let us go, we beseech thee, three days' journey into the wilderness, that we may sacrifice to the Lord our God.
19 And I am sure that the king of Egypt will not let you go, no, not by a mighty hand.
20 And I will stretch out my hand, and smite Egypt with all my wonders which I will do in the midst thereof: and after that he will let you go.
21 And I will give this people favour in the sight of the Egyptians: and it shall come to pass, that, when ye go, ye shall not go empty.
22 But every woman shall borrow of her neighbour, and of her that sojourneth in her house, jewels of silver, and jewels of gold, and raiment: and ye shall put them upon your sons, and upon your daughters; and ye shall spoil the Egyptians.
