1 俄巴底亚看到的异象。
耶和华惩罚以东
论到以东，
主耶和华这样说：
“我们从耶和华那里听到消息，
有位使者被派到各国，说，
‘来！我们去攻打以东吧！’”
2 耶和华对以东说：
“我要让你成为列国中最弱小的国家，
使你饱受藐视。
3 你住在悬崖峭壁间，
住在高山上，
自以为谁也不能把你拉下来，
但你的骄傲欺骗了你。
4 即使你如鹰高飞，
在星辰间筑巢，
我也必把你拉下来。
这是耶和华说的。
5 “盗贼深夜洗劫你的家，
不会洗劫一空；
人们摘葡萄，不会摘光；
但你会被彻底毁灭！
6 以扫[a]要被洗劫一空，
他藏的珍宝要被搜去。
7 你的盟友将你逐出家园；
你的朋友欺骗你，战胜你；
你的知己设陷阱害你，
你却懵然不知。”
8 耶和华说：“到那天，
我要毁灭以东的智者，
除掉以扫山上的明哲。
9 提幔的勇士必惊慌失措，
以扫山上的人尽遭杀戮。
惩罚以东的原因
10 “因你曾残暴地对待同胞兄弟雅各，
你必蒙羞，永遭毁灭。
11 外族人掠夺雅各的财物，
攻入耶路撒冷抽签分赃时，
你竟然袖手旁观，
就像他们的同伙一样。
12 你的亲族遭难之日，
你不该幸灾乐祸；
犹大人被灭的日子，
你不该兴高采烈；
他们遭难的日子，
你不该口出狂言；
13 我子民遭难的日子，
你不该闯进他们的城；
他们遭难的日子，
你不该幸灾乐祸；
他们遭难的日子，
你不该趁火打劫；
14 你不该站在路口截杀那些逃亡者；
他们遭难的日子，
你不该把幸存者交给仇敌。
15 “耶和华惩罚万国的日子近了。
必按你的所作所为报应你，
你的恶行必落到自己头上。
16 你们犹大人在我的圣山上怎样饱饮愤怒，
万国也要照样饮，
且要大口吞下，
直到他们完全消逝。
以色列的复兴
17 “然而，锡安山必成为避难所，
成为圣地。
雅各家必得到自己的产业。
18 雅各家将成为火，
约瑟家将成为烈焰，
以扫家将成为碎秸，
被火焚烧、吞噬，无一人逃脱。
这是耶和华说的。
19 “南地的人将占领以扫山；
丘陵的人将占领非利士，
夺取以法莲和撒玛利亚；
便雅悯人将占领基列。
20 被掳的以色列人将返回家园，
占领远至撒勒法一带的土地；
从耶路撒冷被掳到西法拉的人将占领南地各城。
21 拯救者必登上锡安山，
统治以扫山，
耶和华必做王掌权。”

A visão de Obadias
1 Numa visão, o Senhor Deus revelou a Obadias o futuro da terra de Edom. Chegou a notícia da parte do Senhor, disse ele, que Deus enviou um embaixador às nações com a seguinte mensagem: “Atenção! Deverão enviar os vossos exércitos contra a terra de Edom para a destruir!”
2 “Vou fazer-te pequeno entre as nações, Edom, tornando-te desprezível. 3 És orgulhoso porque vives nas alturas, no cimo de falésias inacessíveis. ‘Quem é que pode chegar até aqui?’, gabaste-te tu. 4 Não se enganem a vós próprios! Ainda que se elevem como águias e construam os ninhos nas estrelas, derrubar-vos-ei daí abaixo, diz o Senhor.
5 Muito melhor teria sido que ladrões tivessem vindo de noite assaltar-vos, porque nunca chegariam a levar tudo o que vocês possuem! No caso das vossas vinhas serem roubadas, pelo menos deixariam ficar uns cachos mais desprezíveis. 6 Mas o que há de acontecer, na verdade, é que cada recanto, cada lugar, por mais escondido que esteja, será vasculhado e roubado, e tudo o que valer alguma coisa será levado.
7 Todos os teus aliados se voltarão contra ti e colaborarão na tua expulsão da terra. Prometer-te-ão paz, ao mesmo tempo que conspiram contra ti, para te destruir. Os teus amigos de confiança lançar-te-ão armadilhas e todas as tuas anti-estratégias falharão. 8 Nesse dia, nem um só sábio será deixado em todo Edom, diz o Senhor. Antes encherei aqueles que eram considerados como tal, com estupidez. 9 Os mais valentes soldados de Temã ficarão atrapalhados e paralisados, perante o exterminador.
10 E isto porquê? Por causa do que fizeram ao vosso irmão Israel. Assim, os teus pecados serão expostos perante todos, para que os vejam. Envergonhado e sem defesa alguma, serás exterminado para sempre. 11 Abandonaste Israel, quando ele mais precisava de auxílio. Mantiveste-te à distância, recusando levantar um dedo que fosse para o ajudar contra os invasores que vieram tirar-lhe o que possuía e repartir Jerusalém como despojo de guerra; portaste-te como um dos seus inimigos.
12 Não devias ter feito isso. Não devias ter ficado satisfeito quando o vieram buscar para o levar para longe, para terras estranhas; não devias ter-te alegrado com o seu infortúnio; não devias ter-te rido dele, nesse tempo de desgraça. 13 Tu próprio entraste na terra de Israel, nesses dias de calamidade, e a pilhaste. Tornaste-te rico à sua custa. 14 Colocaste-te nos cruzamentos das estradas para apanhar os que fugiam; apanhaste os fugitivos e entregaste-os aos seus adversários, nesse tempo terrível de grande tragédia.
15 Porque o dia do Senhor em breve cairá sobre todas as nações pagãs. Como fizeram com Israel assim vos será feito. Os vossos atos recairão sobre as vossas cabeças. 16 Vocês beberam a minha taça de castigo sobre o meu santo monte e as nações todas beberão igualmente por ela. Sim, bebam e depois desapareçam da história como se nunca tivessem existido!
17 Mas o monte Sião tornar-se-á um refúgio; o monte será santo e a descendência de Jacob possuirá a sua herança. 18 Israel será como um fogo lançado sobre os campos ressequidos de Edom que tudo incendiará. Não haverá sobreviventes da casa de Esaú!” O Senhor assim falou.
19 Então o povo que vive no Negueve ocupará a região das colinas de Edom; os que vivem nas planícies da Judeia possuirão as planuras dos filisteus e reapoderar-se-ão dos campos de Efraim e Samaria. O povo de Benjamim tornará a possuir Gileade.
20 Os exilados israelitas regressarão e ocuparão toda a terra da costa cananita até Zarefate. Os que estavam cativos, em Sefarade, voltarão à sua terra natal e conquistarão as povoações remotas do Negueve. 21 Levantar-se-ão salvadores que virão ao monte Sião e governarão a região montanhosa de Edom. O Senhor será Rei!

Complete Jewish Bible
1 This is the vision of ‘Ovadyah. Here is what Adonai Elohim says about Edom. As a messenger was being sent among the nations saying, “Come on, let’s attack her,” we heard a message from Adonai:
2 “I am making you the least of all nations,
you will be beneath contempt.
3 Your proud heart has deceived you,
you whose homes are caves in the cliffs,
who live on the heights and say to yourselves,
‘Who can bring me down to the ground?’
4 If you make your nest as high as an eagle’s,
even if you place it among the stars,
I will bring you down from there.” says Adonai.
5 If thieves were to come to you,
or if robbers by night
(Oh, how destroyed you are!),
wouldn’t they stop when they’d stolen enough?
If grape-pickers came to you,
Wouldn’t they leave some grapes for gleaning?
6 But see how ‘Esav has been looted,
their secret treasures searched out!
7 Your allies went with you only to the border,
those at peace with you deceived and defeated you,
those who ate your food set a trap for you,
and you couldn’t discern it.
8 “When that Day comes,” says Adonai,
“won’t I destroy all the wise men of Edom
and leave no discernment on Mount ‘Esav?
9 Your warriors, Teman, will be so distraught
that everyone on Mount ‘Esav will be slaughtered.
10 For the violence done to your kinsman Ya‘akov,
shame will cover you;
and you will be forever cut off.
11 On that day you stood aside,
while strangers carried off his treasure,
and foreigners entered his gates
to cast lots for Yerushalayim —
you were no different from them.
12 You shouldn’t have gloated over your kinsman
on their day of disaster
or rejoiced over the people of Y’hudah
on their day of destruction.
You shouldn’t have spoken arrogantly
on a day of trouble
13 or entered the gate of my people
on their day of calamity —
no, you shouldn’t have gloated over their suffering
on their day of calamity
or laid hands on their treasure
on their day of calamity.
14 You shouldn’t have stood at the crossroads
to cut down their fugitives
or handed over their survivors
on a day of trouble.”
15 For the Day of Adonai is near for all nations;
as you did, it will be done to you;
your dealings will come back on your own head.
16 For just as you have drunk on my holy mountain,
so will all the nations drink in turn;
yes, they will drink and gulp it down
and be as if they had never existed.
17 But on Mount Tziyon there will be
a holy remnant who will escape,
and the house of Ya‘akov will repossess
their rightful inheritance.
18 The house of Ya‘akov will be a fire
and the house of Yosef a flame,
setting aflame and consuming
the stubble which is the house of ‘Esav.
None of the house of ‘Esav will remain,
for Adonai has spoken.
19 Those in the Negev will repossess
the mountain of ‘Esav,
and those in the Sh’felah
the land of the P’lishtim;
they will repossess the field of Efrayim
and the field of Shomron,
and Binyamin will occupy Gil‘ad.
20 Those from this army of the people of Isra’el
exiled among the Kena‘anim as far away as Tzarfat,
and the exiles from Yerushalayim in S’farad,
will repossess the cities in the Negev.
21 Then the victorious will ascend Mount Tziyon
to rule over Mount ‘Esav,
but the kingship will belong to Adonai.
