保羅在哥林多傳道
18 這事之後，保羅離開雅典前往哥林多， 2 在那裡認識了一位在本都出生的猶太人亞居拉。由於克勞狄命令所有的猶太人離開羅馬，他最近和妻子百基拉從義大利來到哥林多。保羅拜訪了他們。 3 他們夫婦跟保羅是同行，都以製造帳篷為業，保羅就留下來和他們同住，一起做工。 4 保羅每個安息日都到會堂與猶太人和希臘人辯論，勸導他們信主。
5 西拉和提摩太從馬其頓來了之後，保羅就把全部時間都用來傳道，向猶太人證明耶穌是基督。 6 可是，猶太人反對、毀謗保羅。保羅便抖掉衣服上的灰塵，對他們說：「你們的罪都歸在你們自己頭上，與我無關！從今以後，我要去外族人那裡了。」 7 保羅就離開那裡，來到一位敬畏上帝、名叫提多·猶士都的人家裡，他家就在會堂隔壁。 8 會堂主管基利司布和他全家都信了主，許多哥林多人聽了道後，也信了主，受了洗。
9 一天晚上，主在異象中對保羅說：「不要怕，只管繼續傳講，不要停！ 10 因為我與你同在，沒有人能夠傷害你，在這城裡還有許多屬我的子民。」 11 保羅就在那裡住了一年半，傳授上帝的道。
12 迦流出任亞該亞總督時，猶太人聯合起來攻擊保羅，把他拉上法庭， 13 說：「這個人教唆百姓不按律法敬拜上帝。」
14 保羅剛要開口，迦流就對猶太人說：「你們這些猶太人！如果這事涉及什麼罪行冤情，我當然會處理。 15 但如果只是關於字句、名稱和你們猶太律法的爭論，你們自己去解決吧，我不受理！」 16 隨即把他們趕出了法庭。 17 到了庭外，眾人揪住會堂主管所提尼，把他痛打一頓。迦流卻置之不理。
保羅回到安提阿
18 保羅繼續在哥林多逗留了相當時日，才向弟兄姊妹道別。他和百基拉、亞居拉乘船前往敘利亞。保羅因為許過願，就在堅革哩剃了頭髮。 19 到了以弗所，保羅離開亞居拉夫婦，獨自進入會堂跟猶太人辯論。 20 眾人請保羅多留幾天，保羅婉言謝絕了。 21 他向眾人道別，說：「如果上帝許可，我會回來。」然後上船離開了以弗所。 22 他在凱撒利亞登岸後，先上耶路撒冷去問候教會，再下到安提阿。 23 他在安提阿逗留了一些日子，然後離開那裡，走遍加拉太和弗呂迦地區，到處堅固門徒的信心。
亞波羅放膽傳道
24 那時有一個生於亞歷山大、名叫亞波羅的猶太人來到以弗所。他博學善辯，熟悉聖經。 25 他在主的道上曾受過栽培，心裡火熱，能正確地講解和教導有關耶穌的事，但他只知道約翰的洗禮。 26 他在會堂裡勇敢地講道。百基拉和亞居拉聽了以後，便請他到家裡，將上帝的道更詳細地告訴他。 27 亞波羅有意去亞該亞，以弗所的弟兄姊妹就鼓勵他，並寫信請當地的門徒接待他。亞波羅到了之後，帶給當地蒙恩信主的人很大幫助。 28 他在公眾面前有力地駁倒猶太人，引用聖經證明耶穌就是基督。

Paulus in Korinte
18 Paulus vertrok uit Athene en kwam in Korinte. 2 Daar ontmoette hij een Jood die in Pontus in Italië geboren was. Hij heette Aquila. Hij was net met zijn vrouw Priscilla uit Italië aangekomen. Want keizer Claudius had bevolen dat alle Joden uit Rome moesten vertrekken. Paulus ging bij hen logeren. 3 En omdat ze hetzelfde beroep hadden, bleef hij bij hem werken. Ze waren namelijk allebei tentenmaker van beroep. 4 En elke heilige rustdag sprak Paulus in de synagoge. Dan probeerde hij Joden en Grieken ervan te overtuigen dat ze in Jezus moesten gaan geloven.
5 Silas en Timoteüs kwamen uit Macedonië aan in Korinte. Toen werd Paulus nog meer door de Heilige Geest aangemoedigd om de Joden uit te leggen dat Jezus de Messias is. 6 Maar de Joden wilden hem niet geloven. Ze begonnen Paulus tegen te werken door slechte dingen over hem rond te vertellen. Daarom schudde hij het stof van zijn kleren om hen te waarschuwen voor hun ongehoorzaamheid. En hij zei tegen hen: "Jullie zijn zelf schuldig aan jullie dood. Ik heb er geen schuld aan. Voortaan zal ik niet meer naar de Joden gaan. Ik ga alleen nog naar de mensen van andere volken." 7 En hij vertrok daar.
Hij kwam in het huis van iemand die Justus heette. Justus aanbad God. Zijn huis stond naast de synagoge. 8 En Krispus, de leider van de synagoge, ging in de Heer geloven, met alle mensen die in zijn huis woonden. Veel van de Korintiërs die Paulus hoorden, gingen in Jezus geloven en lieten zich dopen.
9 Op een nacht zei de Heer in een droom tegen Paulus: "Wees niet bang. Spreek, en zwijg niet. 10 Want Ik ben met je. Niemand zal je kwaad durven doen. Want veel mensen in deze stad horen bij Mij." 11 Paulus woonde daar 1½ jaar lang en gaf de mensen les over het woord van God.
Paulus voor rechter Gallio
12 Maar toen Gallio de nieuwe bestuurder en rechter van Achaje werd, sleepten de Joden Paulus naar hem toe. 13 Ze zeiden: "Deze man probeert de mensen over te halen om God te aanbidden op een manier die verboden is door de wetten van onze godsdienst." 14 Paulus deed zijn mond al open om te antwoorden, maar rechter Gallio was hem voor. Hij zei tegen de Joden: "Als het hier zou gaan om een misdaad of iets dergelijks, zou ik natuurlijk naar jullie luisteren. 15 Maar het gaat over verschil van mening over een woord en over namen en over de wetten van jullie godsdienst. Dat moeten jullie zelf maar uitzoeken. Daar wil ik niet over rechtspreken." 16 En hij joeg hen weg uit de rechtszaal. 17 Toen grepen ze Sostenes, de leider van de synagoge. Ze sloegen hem naar de rechter toe. Maar rechter Gallio trok zich niets van hen aan en bemoeide zich er niet mee.
18 Paulus bleef daar nog een paar dagen. Toen nam hij afscheid van de broeders en zusters en voer naar Syrië. Priscilla en Aquila[a] gingen met hem mee. Maar voordat hij vertrok, liet hij zijn haar afknippen. Hij had namelijk zijn haar een poos niet laten knippen omdat hij een belofte aan God had gedaan.[b]
Paulus reist verder
19 Ze kwamen in Efeze. Priscilla en Aquila bleven in de stad, maar hijzelf ging naar de synagoge. Daar sprak hij met de Joden. 20 Ze vroegen hem om langer te blijven, maar dat wilde hij niet. 21 Hij nam afscheid van hen en zei: "Ik wil het komende feest in Jeruzalem vieren. Maar als God het wil, kom ik bij jullie terug." En hij vertrok per schip uit Efeze. 22 Hij voer naar Cesarea en ging daar aan land. Hij bezocht de gemeente in Jeruzalem en reisde toen verder naar Antiochië in Syrië. 23 Toen hij daar een tijd geweest was, vertrok hij weer. Hij reisde door de streek van Galatië en Frygië om het geloof van de leerlingen daar op te bouwen.
Apollos in Efeze
24 En er kwam een Jood naar Efeze die Apollos heette. Hij was in Alexandrië geboren. Hij had de Boeken goed bestudeerd en wist erg veel. 25 Hij geloofde in Jezus. Hij was heel vurig van geloof en gaf de mensen heel nauwkeurig les over Jezus. Maar hij kende alleen de doop van Johannes. 26 Vol geloof en zonder vrees gaf hij les in de synagoge. Toen Priscilla en Aquila hem hoorden, namen ze hem mee en legden hem de weg van God preciezer uit. 27 En toen Apollos wilde oversteken naar Achaje, moedigden de broeders hem aan om dat te doen. Ze schreven aan de leerlingen daar een brief dat ze hem vriendelijk moesten ontvangen. Toen Apollos daar was aangekomen, was hij door Gods liefdevolle goedheid een grote hulp voor de mensen die geloofden. 28 Want zonder ophouden bleef hij met behulp van de Boeken aan de Joden bewijzen dat Jezus de Messias is.

18 After these things Paul departed from Athens, and came to Corinth;
2 And found a certain Jew named Aquila, born in Pontus, lately come from Italy, with his wife Priscilla; (because that Claudius had commanded all Jews to depart from Rome:) and came unto them.
3 And because he was of the same craft, he abode with them, and wrought: for by their occupation they were tentmakers.
4 And he reasoned in the synagogue every sabbath, and persuaded the Jews and the Greeks.
5 And when Silas and Timotheus were come from Macedonia, Paul was pressed in the spirit, and testified to the Jews that Jesus was Christ.
6 And when they opposed themselves, and blasphemed, he shook his raiment, and said unto them, Your blood be upon your own heads; I am clean; from henceforth I will go unto the Gentiles.
7 And he departed thence, and entered into a certain man's house, named Justus, one that worshipped God, whose house joined hard to the synagogue.
8 And Crispus, the chief ruler of the synagogue, believed on the Lord with all his house; and many of the Corinthians hearing believed, and were baptized.
9 Then spake the Lord to Paul in the night by a vision, Be not afraid, but speak, and hold not thy peace:
10 For I am with thee, and no man shall set on thee to hurt thee: for I have much people in this city.
11 And he continued there a year and six months, teaching the word of God among them.
12 And when Gallio was the deputy of Achaia, the Jews made insurrection with one accord against Paul, and brought him to the judgment seat,
13 Saying, This fellow persuadeth men to worship God contrary to the law.
14 And when Paul was now about to open his mouth, Gallio said unto the Jews, If it were a matter of wrong or wicked lewdness, O ye Jews, reason would that I should bear with you:
15 But if it be a question of words and names, and of your law, look ye to it; for I will be no judge of such matters.
16 And he drave them from the judgment seat.
17 Then all the Greeks took Sosthenes, the chief ruler of the synagogue, and beat him before the judgment seat. And Gallio cared for none of those things.
18 And Paul after this tarried there yet a good while, and then took his leave of the brethren, and sailed thence into Syria, and with him Priscilla and Aquila; having shorn his head in Cenchrea: for he had a vow.
19 And he came to Ephesus, and left them there: but he himself entered into the synagogue, and reasoned with the Jews.
20 When they desired him to tarry longer time with them, he consented not;
21 But bade them farewell, saying, I must by all means keep this feast that cometh in Jerusalem: but I will return again unto you, if God will. And he sailed from Ephesus.
22 And when he had landed at Caesarea, and gone up, and saluted the church, he went down to Antioch.
23 And after he had spent some time there, he departed, and went over all the country of Galatia and Phrygia in order, strengthening all the disciples.
24 And a certain Jew named Apollos, born at Alexandria, an eloquent man, and mighty in the scriptures, came to Ephesus.
25 This man was instructed in the way of the Lord; and being fervent in the spirit, he spake and taught diligently the things of the Lord, knowing only the baptism of John.
26 And he began to speak boldly in the synagogue: whom when Aquila and Priscilla had heard, they took him unto them, and expounded unto him the way of God more perfectly.
27 And when he was disposed to pass into Achaia, the brethren wrote, exhorting the disciples to receive him: who, when he was come, helped them much which had believed through grace:
28 For he mightily convinced the Jews, and that publicly, shewing by the scriptures that Jesus was Christ.
