15 有幾個人從猶太下來，教導弟兄們說：「你們若不按照摩西的規矩受割禮，不能得救。」 2 保羅和巴拿巴跟他們發生了激烈的爭執和辯論；大家就決定指派保羅、巴拿巴和本會的幾個人，為所辯論的事上耶路撒冷去見使徒和長老。 3 於是教會為他們送行。他們經過腓尼基、撒瑪利亞，沿途敘說外邦人歸主的事，使眾弟兄都非常歡喜。 4 他們到了耶路撒冷，教會、使徒和長老都接待他們，他們就述說 神同他們所做的一切事。 5 惟有幾個法利賽派的信徒起來，說：「必須給外邦人行割禮，吩咐他們遵守摩西的律法。」
6 使徒和長老聚集商議這事。 7 辯論了許久後，彼得站起來，對他們說：「諸位弟兄，你們知道 神早已在你們中間揀選了我，讓外邦人從我口中得聽福音之道，而且相信。 8 知道人心的 神也為他們作了見證，賜聖靈給他們，正如給我們一樣； 9 又藉着信潔淨了他們的心，他們和我們之間並沒有甚麼分別。 10 現在你們為甚麼試探 神，要把我們祖宗和我們所不能負的軛放在門徒的頸項上呢？ 11 相反地，我們相信，我們得救是因主耶穌的恩典，和他們一樣。」
12 眾人都默默無聲，聽巴拿巴和保羅述說 神藉着他們在外邦人中所行的神蹟和奇事。 13 他們講完了，雅各回答說：「諸位弟兄，請聽我說。 14 剛才西門述說 神當初怎樣眷顧外邦人，從他們中間選取人民歸於自己的名下； 15 眾先知的話也與這意思相符合。 16 正如經上所寫的：
『此後，我要回來，
重新修造大衛倒塌了的帳幕，
從廢墟中重新修造，
把它建立起來，
17-18 使剩餘的人，
就是凡稱我名的外邦人，
都尋求主。
這話是自古以來顯明這些事的主說的。』
19 所以，我的意見是不可難為那歸向 神的外邦人； 20 但是要寫信吩咐他們禁戒偶像所玷污的東西、血和勒死的牲畜[a]，禁戒淫亂。 21 因為歷代以來，摩西的書在各城都有人宣講，每逢安息日，也在會堂裏誦讀。」
會議的覆函
22 那時，使徒、長老和全教會認為應從他們中間揀選人，差他們和保羅、巴拿巴一同到安提阿去，所揀選的就是稱為巴撒巴的猶大和西拉。這二人在弟兄中是領袖。 23 他們帶去的信說：「使徒和作長老的弟兄們向安提阿、敘利亞、基利家外邦眾弟兄問安。 24 我們聽說，有幾個人從我們這裏出去[b]，用一些話騷擾你們，使你們的心困惑，[c]其實我們並沒有吩咐他們。 25 我們認為，既然我們同心定意，就揀選幾個人，派他們同我們所親愛的巴拿巴和保羅到你們那裏去。 26 這二人曾為我主耶穌基督的名不顧自己的性命。 27 所以我們派猶大和西拉去，他們也會親口述說這些事。 28 因為聖靈和我們決定除了這幾件重要的事，不將別的重擔放在你們身上， 29 就是禁戒偶像所玷污的東西、血和勒死的牲畜，禁戒淫亂。這幾件你們若能自己禁戒就好了。祝你們安康！」
30 他們既奉了差遣就下安提阿去，聚集會眾，把書信交給他們。 31 眾人念了，因為信上鼓勵的話而感到欣慰。 32 猶大和西拉自己也是先知，就用許多話勸勉弟兄，堅固他們。 33 二人住了些日子，弟兄們打發他們平平安安地回到差遣他們的人那裏去。[d] 35 但保羅和巴拿巴仍留在安提阿，和許多別的人一同教導，並傳揚主的道。

36 過了些日子，保羅對巴拿巴說：「讓我們回到從前宣揚主道的各城，看看弟兄們的情況如何。」 37 巴拿巴有意要帶稱為馬可的約翰同去； 38 但保羅認為不宜帶他去，因為馬可從前在旁非利亞離開他們，不和他們一起工作。 39 於是二人起了爭執，甚至彼此分手。巴拿巴帶着馬可，坐船往塞浦路斯去； 40 保羅則揀選了西拉，也出發了，蒙弟兄們把他交於主的恩典中。 41 他就走遍了敘利亞、基利家，堅固眾教會。

3 于是教会为他们送行。他们经过腓尼基和撒玛利亚，沿途报告外族人悔改信主的消息，弟兄姊妹都大受鼓舞。 4 他们到了耶路撒冷，受到教会、使徒和长老的接待，并详述了上帝借他们所做的一切事。 5 有几个信了主的法利赛人站起来说：“外族的信徒必须接受割礼，而且还要遵守摩西的律法。”

24 “听说有几个人从我们这里去了你们那里，教导你们必须接受割礼并遵守摩西的律法[a]。他们的言论使你们大感困惑。其实我们从来没有授权他们这样做。 25 所以我们一致决定选派代表，随我们敬爱的巴拿巴和保罗去你们那里。 26 他们二人为我们主耶稣基督的缘故已将生死置之度外。 27 我们选派犹大和西拉两位代表跟他们一起去，向你们报告我们的决定。 28 因为圣灵和我们都认为不应把重担加在你们身上。但请务必注意以下几件事， 29 要远避祭拜偶像的事，不可吃血，不可吃勒死的牲畜，不可淫乱。你们一一遵守这些事就好了。祝平安！”

15 And certain men which came down from Judaea taught the brethren, and said, Except ye be circumcised after the manner of Moses, ye cannot be saved.
2 When therefore Paul and Barnabas had no small dissension and disputation with them, they determined that Paul and Barnabas, and certain other of them, should go up to Jerusalem unto the apostles and elders about this question.
3 And being brought on their way by the church, they passed through Phenice and Samaria, declaring the conversion of the Gentiles: and they caused great joy unto all the brethren.
4 And when they were come to Jerusalem, they were received of the church, and of the apostles and elders, and they declared all things that God had done with them.
5 But there rose up certain of the sect of the Pharisees which believed, saying, That it was needful to circumcise them, and to command them to keep the law of Moses.
6 And the apostles and elders came together for to consider of this matter.
7 And when there had been much disputing, Peter rose up, and said unto them, Men and brethren, ye know how that a good while ago God made choice among us, that the Gentiles by my mouth should hear the word of the gospel, and believe.
8 And God, which knoweth the hearts, bare them witness, giving them the Holy Ghost, even as he did unto us;
9 And put no difference between us and them, purifying their hearts by faith.
10 Now therefore why tempt ye God, to put a yoke upon the neck of the disciples, which neither our fathers nor we were able to bear?
11 But we believe that through the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ we shall be saved, even as they.
12 Then all the multitude kept silence, and gave audience to Barnabas and Paul, declaring what miracles and wonders God had wrought among the Gentiles by them.
13 And after they had held their peace, James answered, saying, Men and brethren, hearken unto me:
14 Simeon hath declared how God at the first did visit the Gentiles, to take out of them a people for his name.
15 And to this agree the words of the prophets; as it is written,
16 After this I will return, and will build again the tabernacle of David, which is fallen down; and I will build again the ruins thereof, and I will set it up:
17 That the residue of men might seek after the Lord, and all the Gentiles, upon whom my name is called, saith the Lord, who doeth all these things.
18 Known unto God are all his works from the beginning of the world.
19 Wherefore my sentence is, that we trouble not them, which from among the Gentiles are turned to God:
20 But that we write unto them, that they abstain from pollutions of idols, and from fornication, and from things strangled, and from blood.
21 For Moses of old time hath in every city them that preach him, being read in the synagogues every sabbath day.
22 Then pleased it the apostles and elders with the whole church, to send chosen men of their own company to Antioch with Paul and Barnabas; namely, Judas surnamed Barsabas and Silas, chief men among the brethren:
23 And they wrote letters by them after this manner; The apostles and elders and brethren send greeting unto the brethren which are of the Gentiles in Antioch and Syria and Cilicia.
24 Forasmuch as we have heard, that certain which went out from us have troubled you with words, subverting your souls, saying, Ye must be circumcised, and keep the law: to whom we gave no such commandment:
25 It seemed good unto us, being assembled with one accord, to send chosen men unto you with our beloved Barnabas and Paul,
26 Men that have hazarded their lives for the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
27 We have sent therefore Judas and Silas, who shall also tell you the same things by mouth.
28 For it seemed good to the Holy Ghost, and to us, to lay upon you no greater burden than these necessary things;
29 That ye abstain from meats offered to idols, and from blood, and from things strangled, and from fornication: from which if ye keep yourselves, ye shall do well. Fare ye well.
30 So when they were dismissed, they came to Antioch: and when they had gathered the multitude together, they delivered the epistle:
31 Which when they had read, they rejoiced for the consolation.
32 And Judas and Silas, being prophets also themselves, exhorted the brethren with many words, and confirmed them.
33 And after they had tarried there a space, they were let go in peace from the brethren unto the apostles.
34 Notwithstanding it pleased Silas to abide there still.
35 Paul also and Barnabas continued in Antioch, teaching and preaching the word of the Lord, with many others also.
36 And some days after Paul said unto Barnabas, Let us go again and visit our brethren in every city where we have preached the word of the Lord, and see how they do.
37 And Barnabas determined to take with them John, whose surname was Mark.
38 But Paul thought not good to take him with them, who departed from them from Pamphylia, and went not with them to the work.
39 And the contention was so sharp between them, that they departed asunder one from the other: and so Barnabas took Mark, and sailed unto Cyprus;
40 And Paul chose Silas, and departed, being recommended by the brethren unto the grace of God.
41 And he went through Syria and Cilicia, confirming the churches.
