希律王的暴行
12 那時，希律王下手殘害教會的一些人， 2 殺了約翰的哥哥雅各。 3 他見這樣做能取悅猶太人，便又在除酵節期間拘捕了彼得， 4 把他關在監裡，由四班衛兵，每班四人輪流看守，想等逾越節[a]過後當眾懲辦他。 5 彼得被囚期間，教會都迫切地為他向上帝禱告。
彼得神奇出獄
6 在被希律提審前一夜，彼得被兩條鐵鏈鎖著睡在兩個衛兵中間，門外警衛森嚴。 7 忽然，有一位主的天使站在彼得身旁，監牢內一片光明，天使拍他的肋旁，把他叫醒，說：「趕快起來！」鐵鏈就從他手上脫落下來。 8 天使對他說：「束上腰帶，穿好鞋子。」彼得一一照辦。天使又說：「披上外衣，跟我來！」 9 他跟著天使走出牢房，不知道這一切都是真的，還以為自己看到了異象。 10 他們一路穿過第一道和第二道守衛，來到通往城裡的鐵門，那門竟自動打開了。他們就出來，走過一條街之後，天使便離開了彼得。
11 彼得這才如夢初醒，說：「現在我確定，主派了天使來救我脫離希律的魔掌，不讓猶太人的期望得逞。」 12 他清醒後，便到約翰·馬可的母親瑪麗亞家，很多人正聚集在那裡禱告。
13 彼得在外面敲門，有一個叫羅大的婢女出來應門。 14 她聽出是彼得的聲音，喜出望外，竟然沒有開門就跑進去告訴大家：「彼得在門外！」 15 他們說：「你一定瘋了。」她堅持說：「是真的！」他們就說：「是他的天使吧！」
16 彼得不住地敲門。他們開門看見他，都大吃一驚！ 17 彼得擺手示意他們安靜，然後把主怎樣領他出獄的經過告訴大家，又說：「把這事告訴雅各和其他弟兄姊妹。」交待完了，他便離開那裡，往其他地方去了。
18 天亮後，監獄的守衛發現彼得不見了，頓時一片騷動。 19 希律派人四處搜捕，一無所獲，於是親自審問看守彼得的衛兵，下令處決他們。後來希律離開猶太，下到凱撒利亞，並住在那裡。
希律的下場
20 希律對泰爾和西頓的人非常惱火。於是，他們聯合起來去見他，先取得宮廷總管伯拉斯都的支持，然後向他求和，因為他們兩地需要從他的轄區獲得糧食。
21 到了約定的日子，希律穿上王袍，坐在寶座上向眾人致詞。 22 致詞完畢，眾人齊聲高呼：「這是神明在說話，不是凡人在說話！」 23 希律沒有把榮耀歸給上帝，主的天使立刻懲罰他，他當場被蟲子咬死了。
24 上帝的道日見興旺，越傳越廣。
25 巴拿巴和掃羅把款項送到以後，就帶著約翰·馬可從耶路撒冷回去。

12 Katika wakati huu huu, Mfalme Herode akaanza kuwatesa baadhi ya waamini waliokuwa sehemu ya kanisa. 2 Aliamuru Yakobo aliyekuwa kaka yake Yohana, auawe kwa upanga. 3 Herode alipoona kuwa Wayahudi wamelifurahia jambo hili, aliamua kumkamata Petro pia. Hii lilitokea katika kipindi cha Sikukuu ya Mikate Isiyotiwa Chachu. 4 Alimkamata Petro na kumfunga gerezani, ambako alilindwa na kundi la askari kumi na sita.[a] Herode alipanga kumleta Petro mbele ya watu ili ahukumiwe, lakini alisubiri mpaka baada ya sikukuu ya Pasaka. 5 Hivyo Petro aliwekwa gerezani lakini kanisa lilikuwa likiomba kwa Mungu bila kuacha kwa ajili yake.

6 Wakati wa usiku kabla ya siku ambayo Herode alipanga kumhukumu mbele ya watu, Petro, akiwa amefungwa minyororo miwili, alikuwa amelala katikati ya askari wawili. Na askari waliokuwa nje ya mlango walikuwa wanalinda gereza. 7 Ghafla malaika wa Bwana alikuwa amesimama pale, na chumba kilijaa mwanga. Malaika akamwamsha Petro kwa kumpiga upande, akasema, “Amka haraka!” Minyororo ikaanguka kutoka mikono mwa Petro. 8 Malaika akasema, “Vaa nguo na viatu vyako.” Petro alifanya kama alivyoambiwa. Kisha malaika akasema, “Vaa koti lako na unifuate.”
9 Hivyo malaika akatoka nje na Petro alimfuata. Hakujua kama kweli malaika alikuwa anafanya hili. Alidhani alikuwa anaona maono. 10 Petro na malaika wakavuka lindo la kwanza na lindo la pili. Kisha walifika kwenye lango la chuma lililowatenganisha na mji. Lango likafunguka. Baada ya kuvuka lango na kutembea umbali wa kama mtaa mmoja, malaika akatoweka ghafla.
11 Ndipo Petro akatambua kuwa haikuwa ndoto. Akawaza moyoni akisema, “Sasa ninajua kwamba Bwana hakika alimtuma malaika wake kwangu. Ameniokoa kutoka kwa Herode na kutoka kwenye mabaya yote ambayo Wayahudi walidhani yatanipata.”
12 Petro alipotambua hili, alikwenda nyumbani kwa Mariamu, mama yake Yohana, aliyeitwa Marko. Watu wengi walikuwa wamekusanyika pale wakiomba. 13 Petro alibisha kwenye mlango wa nje. Mtumishi wa kike aliyeitwa Rhoda alikuja ili afungue mlango. 14 Alipoitambua sauti ya Petro, alifurahi sana hata akasahau kufungua mlango. Akakimbilia ndani na kuliambia kundi, “Petro yuko mlangoni!” 15 Waamini wakamwambia, “Wewe una kichaa!” Lakini alipoendelea kusema kwamba ni kweli Petro yuko mlangoni. Waamini walisema, “Lazima atakuwa malaika wa Petro.”
16 Lakini Petro aliendelea kubisha mlangoni. Waamini walipoufungua mlango na kumwona, wakashangaa. 17 Petro akawafanyia ishara kwa mkono wake kuwaambia wanyamaze. Akawaeleza namna Bwana alivyomtoa nje ya gereza. Akasema, “Mwambieni Yakobo na ndugu wengine kilichotokea.” Kisha akawaacha na kwenda sehemu nyingine.
18 Siku iliyofuata askari walichanganyikiwa. Walijiuliza nini kimempata Petro. 19 Herode alimtafuta kila mahali lakini hakumpata. Hivyo aliwahoji walinzi na kuamuru wauawe.
Kifo cha Herode Agripa
Baadaye, Herode alihama kutoka Uyahudi na kwenda katika mji wa Kaisaria na kukaa huko kwa muda. 20 Herode aliwakasirikia sana watu katika miji ya Tiro na Sidoni. Lakini miji hii ilihitaji chakula kutoka katika nchi yake, hivyo baadhi yao walimjia wakitaka amani naye. Waliweza kumshawishi Blasto mtumishi binafsi wa Mfalme ili awasaidie.
21 Herode alichagua siku maalumu ya kukutana nao. Siku hiyo alivaa vazi zuri la kifalme. Aliketi kwenye kiti chake cha enzi na kuwahutubia watu. 22 Watu wakapaza sauti zao na kusema, “Hii ni sauti ya mungu, siyo mwanadamu!” 23 Herode hakumpa Mungu utukufu. Hivyo malaika wa bwana akampiga kwa ugonjwa. Akaliwa na minyoo ndani na kufa.
24 Ujumbe wa Mungu ulikuwa unasambaa, ukiwafikia watu wengi zaidi.
25 Baada ya Barnaba na Sauli kumaliza kazi yao Yerusalemu, walirudi Antiokia, walimchukua Yohana aliyeitwa Marko pamoja nao.

12 Herod killeth James with the sword, 4 And imprisoneth Peter, 8 whom the Angel delivereth. 20 Herod being offended with them of Tyrus, 21 is pacified: 22 And taking the honor due to God, to himself, 23 he is eaten with worms , and so dieth.
1 Now [a]about that time, [b]Herod the king stretched forth his hand to vex certain of the Church,
2 And he [c]killed James the brother of John with the sword.
3 [d]And when he saw that it pleased the Jews, he proceeded further, to take Peter also (then were the days of unleavened bread.)
4 [e]And when he had caught him, he put him in prison, and delivered him to four quaternions of soldiers to be kept, intending after the Passover to bring him forth to the people.
5 [f]So Peter was kept in prison, but earnest prayer was made of the Church unto God for him.
6 And when Herod would have brought him out unto the people, the same night slept Peter between two soldiers, bound with two chains, and the keepers before the door, kept the prison.
7 (A)And behold the Angel of the Lord came upon them, and a light shined in the [g]house, and he smote Peter on the side, and raised him up, saying, Arise quickly. And his chains fell off from his hands.
8 And the Angel said unto him, Gird thyself, and bind on thy sandals. And so he did. Then he said unto him, Cast thy garment about thee, and follow me.
9 So Peter came out and followed him, and knew not that it was true, which was done by the Angel, but thought he had seen a vision.
10 Now when they were past the first and the second watch, they came unto the iron gate that leadeth unto the city, which opened to them by its own accord, and they went out, and passed through one street, and by and by the Angel departed from him.
11 ¶ And when Peter was come to himself, he said, Now I know for a truth, that the Lord hath sent his Angel, and hath delivered me out of the hand of Herod, and from all the waiting for of the people of the Jews.
12 [h]And as he considered the thing, he came to the house of Mary, the mother of John, whose surname was Mark, where many were gathered together, and prayed.
13 [i]And when Peter knocked at the entry door, a maid [j]came forth to hearken, named Rhoda,
14 But when she knew Peter’s voice, she opened not the entry door for gladness, but ran in, and told how Peter stood before the entry.
15 But they said unto her, Thou art mad. Yet she affirmed it constantly, that it was so. Then said they, It is his Angel.
16 But Peter continued knocking, and when they had opened it, and saw him, they were astonied.
17 [k]And he beckoned unto them with the hand, to hold their peace, and told them how the Lord had brought him out of the prison. And he said, Go show these things unto James and to the brethren: and he departed and went into another place.
18 ¶ [l]Now as soon as it was day, there was no small trouble among the soldiers, what was become of Peter.
19 And when Herod had sought for him, and found him not, he examined the keepers, and commanded them to be led to be punished. And he went down from Judea to Caesarea, and there abode.
20 [m]Then Herod was angry with them of Tyre and Sidon, but they came all with one accord unto him, and persuaded Blastus the King’s Chamberlain, and they desired peace, because their country was nourished by the King’s land.
21 And upon a day appointed, Herod arrayed himself in royal apparel, and sat on the judgment seat, and made an oration unto them.
22 [n]And the people gave a shout, saying, The voice of God, and not of man.
23 [o]But immediately the Angel of the Lord smote him, because he [p]gave not glory unto God, so that he was eaten of worms, and gave up the ghost.
24 [q]And the [r]word of God grew, and multiplied.
25 So Barnabas and Saul returned from Jerusalem, when they had fulfilled their office, and took with them John, whose surname was Mark.
