25 А Фест, като зае областта си, подир три дни възлезе от Кесария в Ерусалим.
2 Тогава първосвещениците и юдейските първенци му подадоха жалба против Павла,
3 и молейки му се искаха да склони на това против него,_ 4 Фест обаче отговори, че Павел вече се пази под стража в Кесария, и че сам той скоро щеше да тръгне за там;
5 затова, рече той, влиятелните между вас нека слязат с мене; а ако има нещо криво в човека, нека го обвинят.
6 И като преседя между тях не повече от осем или десет дена, той слезе в Кесария, и на утрешния ден седна на съдийския стол и заповяда да доведат Павла.
7 И като дойде, юдеите, които бяха слезли от Ерусалим, го обиколиха и обвиняваха го с много и тежки обвинения, които не можеха да докажат;
8 но Павел в защитата си казваше: Нито против юдейския закон, нито против храма, нито против Кесаря съм извършил някакво престъпление.
9 Но Фест, понеже искаше да спечели благоволението, на юдеите, в отговор на Павла каза: Щеш ли да възлезеш в Ерусалим, и там да се съдиш за това пред мене?
10 А Павел каза: Аз стоя пред Кесаревото съдилище, дето трябва да бъда съден. На юдеите не съм сторил никаква вреда, както и ти твърде добре знаеш.
11 Прочее, ако съм злодеец, и съм сторил нещо достойно за смърт, не бягам от смъртта; но ако ни едно от нещата, за които ме обвиняват тия не е истинно, никой не може да ме предаде за да им угоди. Отнасям се до Кесаря.
12 Тогава Фест, след като поразиска въпроса със съвета, отговори: Отнесъл си се до Кесаря; при Кесаря ще отидеш.
13 А като изминаха няколко дни, цар Агрипа и Верникия дойдоха в Кесария да поздравят Феста.
14 И като се бавиха там доста време, Фест доложи Павловото дело пред царя, казвайки: Има един човек оставен от Фелиска в окови.
15 3а него когато бях в Ерусалим, първосвещениците и юдейските старейшини ми подадоха жалба и искаха да го съдя.
16 Но им отговорих, че римляните нямат обичай да предават някой човек [на смърт,] преди обвиняемият да е бил поставен лице с лице с обвинителите си, и да му е дал случай да говори в своя защита относно обвинението.
17 И тъй, когато дойдоха тук заедно с мене, на следния ден незабавно седнах на съдийския стол и заповядах да доведат човека.
18 Но когато обвинителите му застанаха, не го обвиниха в никое от лошите дела каквито аз предполагах;
19 но имаха против него някакви разисквания за техните си вярвания, и за някой си Исус, който бил умрял, за когото Павел твърдеше, че е жив.
20 И аз, понеже бях в недоумение как да изпитам за такива неща, попитах да ли би отишъл в Ерусалим, там да се съди за това.
21 Но понеже Павел се отнесе до решението на Августа, за да се опази за него, заповядах да го пазят докле го изпратя при Кесаря.
22 Тогава Априпа рече на Феста: Искаше ми се и мене да чуя тоя човек. И той каза: Утре ще го чуеш.
23 На утрешния ден, когато Агрипа и Верникия дойдоха с голям блясък и влязоха в съдебната стая с хилядниците и по-видните граждани, Фест заповяда та доведоха Павла.
24 Тогава Фест каза: Царю Агрипо, и всички, които присъствувате с нас, ето човека, за когото целият юдейски народ ми представиха жалба, и в Ерусалим и тука, като крещяха, че той не трябва вече да живее.
25 Но аз намерих, че не е сторил нищо достойно за смърт; и понеже той сам се отнесе до Августа, реших да го изпратя.
26 А за него нямам нищо положително да пиша на господаря си; затова го изведох пред вас, и особено пред тебе, царю Агрипо, та, като стане разпитването му, да имам какво да пиша.
27 Защото ми се вижда неразумно, като изпращам човек вързан, да не изложа и обвиненията против него.

King James Version
25 Now when Festus was come into the province, after three days he ascended from Caesarea to Jerusalem.
2 Then the high priest and the chief of the Jews informed him against Paul, and besought him,
3 And desired favour against him, that he would send for him to Jerusalem, laying wait in the way to kill him.
4 But Festus answered, that Paul should be kept at Caesarea, and that he himself would depart shortly thither.
5 Let them therefore, said he, which among you are able, go down with me, and accuse this man, if there be any wickedness in him.
6 And when he had tarried among them more than ten days, he went down unto Caesarea; and the next day sitting on the judgment seat commanded Paul to be brought.
7 And when he was come, the Jews which came down from Jerusalem stood round about, and laid many and grievous complaints against Paul, which they could not prove.
8 While he answered for himself, Neither against the law of the Jews, neither against the temple, nor yet against Caesar, have I offended any thing at all.
9 But Festus, willing to do the Jews a pleasure, answered Paul, and said, Wilt thou go up to Jerusalem, and there be judged of these things before me?
10 Then said Paul, I stand at Caesar's judgment seat, where I ought to be judged: to the Jews have I done no wrong, as thou very well knowest.
11 For if I be an offender, or have committed any thing worthy of death, I refuse not to die: but if there be none of these things whereof these accuse me, no man may deliver me unto them. I appeal unto Caesar.
12 Then Festus, when he had conferred with the council, answered, Hast thou appealed unto Caesar? unto Caesar shalt thou go.
13 And after certain days king Agrippa and Bernice came unto Caesarea to salute Festus.
14 And when they had been there many days, Festus declared Paul's cause unto the king, saying, There is a certain man left in bonds by Felix:
15 About whom, when I was at Jerusalem, the chief priests and the elders of the Jews informed me, desiring to have judgment against him.
16 To whom I answered, It is not the manner of the Romans to deliver any man to die, before that he which is accused have the accusers face to face, and have licence to answer for himself concerning the crime laid against him.
17 Therefore, when they were come hither, without any delay on the morrow I sat on the judgment seat, and commanded the man to be brought forth.
18 Against whom when the accusers stood up, they brought none accusation of such things as I supposed:
19 But had certain questions against him of their own superstition, and of one Jesus, which was dead, whom Paul affirmed to be alive.
20 And because I doubted of such manner of questions, I asked him whether he would go to Jerusalem, and there be judged of these matters.
21 But when Paul had appealed to be reserved unto the hearing of Augustus, I commanded him to be kept till I might send him to Caesar.
22 Then Agrippa said unto Festus, I would also hear the man myself. To morrow, said he, thou shalt hear him.
23 And on the morrow, when Agrippa was come, and Bernice, with great pomp, and was entered into the place of hearing, with the chief captains, and principal men of the city, at Festus' commandment Paul was brought forth.
24 And Festus said, King Agrippa, and all men which are here present with us, ye see this man, about whom all the multitude of the Jews have dealt with me, both at Jerusalem, and also here, crying that he ought not to live any longer.
25 But when I found that he had committed nothing worthy of death, and that he himself hath appealed to Augustus, I have determined to send him.
26 Of whom I have no certain thing to write unto my lord. Wherefore I have brought him forth before you, and specially before thee, O king Agrippa, that, after examination had, I might have somewhat to write.
27 For it seemeth to me unreasonable to send a prisoner, and not withal to signify the crimes laid against him.

25 Tres días después de que Festo llegó a la provincia, fue de Cesarea a Jerusalén. 2 Los principales sacerdotes y los judíos más influyentes se presentaron ante él, y hablaron en contra de Pablo. 3 Como un favor especial, le pidieron que ordenara trasladar a Pablo a Jerusalén. Y es que ellos ya habían planeado tenderle una emboscada y matarlo en el camino. 4 Festo les dijo que Pablo estaba custodiado en Cesarea, adonde él mismo partiría en breve. 5 Les dijo: «Si algunos de ustedes pueden acompañarme, háganlo. Y si este hombre ha cometido algún crimen, acúsenlo allí.»
6 Festo se detuvo en Jerusalén unos ocho o diez días; luego fue a Cesarea, y al día siguiente se sentó en el tribunal y mandó traer a Pablo. 7 Cuando Pablo llegó, lo rodearon los judíos que habían ido desde Jerusalén. Presentaron en su contra muchas y graves acusaciones, pero no pudieron probar ninguna. 8 Pablo, en su defensa, dijo: «Yo no he cometido ningún delito. Ni contra la ley de los judíos, ni contra el templo, ni contra el emperador.» 9 Pero Festo, que se quería congraciar con los judíos, le preguntó: «¿Prefieres ir a Jerusalén, para que seas juzgado de todo esto delante de mí?» 10 Y Pablo respondió: «Yo estoy ante el tribunal del emperador, y es en este tribunal donde debo ser juzgado. Como tú bien sabes, en nada he agraviado a los judíos. 11 Si he cometido algo que merezca la pena de muerte, no me rehúso a morir. Pero si las acusaciones que se me hacen no tienen sustento, nadie puede entregarme a ellos. ¡Yo apelo al emperador!» 12 Entonces Festo habló con el consejo y, después de consultar con ellos, respondió: «Puesto que has apelado al emperador, ante el emperador comparecerás.»

13 Algunos días después, el rey Agripa y su hermana Berenice fueron a Cesarea para saludar a Festo. 14 Allí pasaron muchos días, así que Festo le expuso al rey el caso de Pablo. Le dijo: «Félix dejó preso a cierto hombre, 15 contra el cual los principales sacerdotes y los ancianos de los judíos presentaron acusaciones. Cuando fui a Jerusalén, éstos se presentaron y me exigieron que lo condenara. 16 Yo les respondí que los romanos no acostumbran condenar a muerte a nadie, si quienes lo acusan no están presentes. Es decir, para que el acusado pueda defenderse. 17 Entonces todos ellos se presentaron, y yo actué sin tardanza. Al día siguiente ocupe mi lugar en el tribunal, y mandé traer a ese hombre. 18 Sus acusadores, aunque estaban presentes, no presentaron ninguno de los cargos que yo pensaba que harían; 19 lo que tenían contra él eran, más bien, algunas cuestiones acerca de su religión y de un tal Jesús, ya muerto, del que Pablo afirma que está vivo. 20 Como yo tenía mis dudas acerca de estas cuestiones, le pregunté si prefería ir a Jerusalén y ser juzgado allá; 21 pero Pablo pidió que se le retuviera, apelando a que el emperador mismo conociera su caso. Entonces di órdenes de que lo custodiaran mientras lo remitía al emperador.» 22 Agripa dijo entonces a Festo: «También yo quiero oír a ese hombre.» Y Festo le respondió: «Pues mañana mismo lo oirás.»
23 Al día siguiente, Agripa y Berenice se presentaron en medio de gran ostentación, y entraron en la audiencia con los tribunos y los principales hombres de la ciudad. Festo mandó entonces que llevaran a Pablo, 24 y dijo: «Rey Agripa, y señores que nos acompañan: Fíjense en este hombre. Aquí y en Jerusalén un gran número de judíos me ha pedido a gritos que lo condene a muerte. 25 Yo no he hallado en él nada que merezca la pena de muerte. Y como él mismo ha apelado al emperador, he decidido remitirlo a él. 26 Como no tengo nada concreto que pueda escribir a mi señor, lo he traído ante ustedes, y principalmente ante ti, rey Agripa, para que lo examines, y así tenga yo algo qué escribir. 27 Ciertamente no me parece razonable enviar a un preso, y no informar de qué se le acusa.»

Paul Appeals to Caesar
25 Now when Festus had come to the province, after three days he went up from (A)Caesarea to Jerusalem. 2 (B)Then the [a]high priest and the chief men of the Jews informed him against Paul; and they petitioned him, 3 asking a favor against him, that he would summon him to Jerusalem—(C)while they lay in ambush along the road to kill him. 4 But Festus answered that Paul should be kept at Caesarea, and that he himself was going there shortly. 5 “Therefore,” he said, “let those who have authority among you go down with me and accuse this man, to see (D)if there is any fault in him.”
6 And when he had remained among them more than ten days, he went down to Caesarea. And the next day, sitting on the judgment seat, he commanded Paul to be brought. 7 When he had come, the Jews who had come down from Jerusalem stood about (E)and laid many serious complaints against Paul, which they could not prove, 8 while he answered for himself, (F)“Neither against the law of the Jews, nor against the temple, nor against Caesar have I offended in anything at all.”
9 But Festus, (G)wanting to do the Jews a favor, answered Paul and said, (H)“Are you willing to go up to Jerusalem and there be judged before me concerning these things?”
10 So Paul said, “I stand at Caesar’s judgment seat, where I ought to be judged. To the Jews I have done no wrong, as you very well know. 11 (I)For if I am an offender, or have committed anything deserving of death, I do not object to dying; but if there is nothing in these things of which these men accuse me, no one can deliver me to them. (J)I appeal to Caesar.”
12 Then Festus, when he had conferred with the council, answered, “You have appealed to Caesar? To Caesar you shall go!”
Paul Before Agrippa
13 And after some days King Agrippa and Bernice came to Caesarea to greet Festus. 14 When they had been there many days, Festus laid Paul’s case before the king, saying: (K)“There is a certain man left a prisoner by Felix, 15 (L)about whom the chief priests and the elders of the Jews informed me, when I was in Jerusalem, asking for a judgment against him. 16 (M)To them I answered, ‘It is not the custom of the Romans to deliver any man [b]to destruction before the accused meets the accusers face to face, and has opportunity to answer for himself concerning the charge against him.’ 17 Therefore when they had come together, (N)without any delay, the next day I sat on the judgment seat and commanded the man to be brought in. 18 When the accusers stood up, they brought no accusation against him of such things as I [c]supposed, 19 (O)but had some questions against him about their own religion and about a certain Jesus, who had died, whom Paul affirmed to be alive. 20 And because I was uncertain of such questions, I asked whether he was willing to go to Jerusalem and there be judged concerning these matters. 21 But when Paul (P)appealed to be reserved for the decision of Augustus, I commanded him to be kept till I could send him to Caesar.”
22 Then (Q)Agrippa said to Festus, “I also would like to hear the man myself.”
“Tomorrow,” he said, “you shall hear him.”
23 So the next day, when Agrippa and Bernice had come with great [d]pomp, and had entered the auditorium with the commanders and the prominent men of the city, at Festus’ command (R)Paul was brought in. 24 And Festus said: “King Agrippa and all the men who are here present with us, you see this man about whom (S)the whole assembly of the Jews petitioned me, both at Jerusalem and here, crying out that he was (T)not fit to live any longer. 25 But when I found that (U)he had committed nothing deserving of death, (V)and that he himself had appealed to Augustus, I decided to send him. 26 I have nothing certain to write to my lord concerning him. Therefore I have brought him out before you, and especially before you, King Agrippa, so that after the examination has taken place I may have something to write. 27 For it seems to me unreasonable to send a prisoner and not to specify the charges against him.”
