15 有几个从犹太下来的人教导弟兄们说：“你们若不照着摩西的规条接受割礼，就不能得救。” 2 保罗和巴拿巴为这件事与他们激烈地辩论，最后大家决定派保罗、巴拿巴和几个当地的信徒上耶路撒冷去跟使徒和长老讨论这件事。
3 于是教会为他们送行。他们经过腓尼基和撒玛利亚，沿途报告外族人悔改信主的消息，弟兄姊妹都大受鼓舞。 4 他们到了耶路撒冷，受到教会、使徒和长老的接待，并详述了上帝借他们所做的一切事。 5 有几个信了主的法利赛人站起来说：“外族的信徒必须接受割礼，而且还要遵守摩西的律法。”

Möte med apostlarna i Jerusalem
15 Några kom då från Judeen och började lära bröderna att de inte kunde bli räddade om de inte lät omskära sig[a] som seden var enligt Mose. 2 Men Paulus och Barnabas gick emot dem vilket ledde till ständiga diskussioner och bråk. Till slut bestämde därför de troende att man skulle låta Paulus och Barnabas och några till resa upp till Jerusalem för att reda ut saken med apostlarna och församlingsledarna där. 3 Församlingen utrustade dem för resan och de gav sig iväg genom Fenikien och Samarien där de berättade om hedningar som hade vänt om, vilket gjorde de troende mycket glada.
4 När de kom fram till Jerusalem, blev de mottagna av församlingen och apostlarna och ledarna. Paulus och Barnabas berättade sedan om vad Gud hade gjort genom dem. 5 Men då reste sig några från fariseernas parti som blivit troende och förklarade att hedningarna måste omskäras och krävas följa Moses lag.
6 Apostlarna och församlingsledarna höll därför ett särskilt möte om den här frågan. 7 Efter en lång diskussion reste sig Petrus och sa: ”Bröder, ni vet att Gud för länge sedan utsåg mig bland er till att förkunna evangelium för hedningar, så att de också skulle kunna tro. 8 Och Gud som känner allas hjärtan har visat att han har tagit emot dem genom att ge dem den heliga Anden precis som till oss. 9 Gud har inte gjort någon skillnad mellan oss och dem utan renade deras hjärtan genom tron. 10 Varför vill ni då utmana Gud och lägga ett ok på lärjungarnas axlar som varken vi eller våra förfäder har kunnat bära? 11 Nej, vi tror att alla, både vi och de, blir räddade genom vår Herre Jesus nåd.”
12 Efter det blev det tyst på diskussionen och alla lyssnade till Barnabas och Paulus när de berättade om de tecken och under som Gud hade gjort genom dem bland andra folk.
13 När de hade slutat, reste sig Jakob[b] och sa: ”Bröder, lyssna på mig! 14 Simon[c] har berättat hur Gud för första gången såg till att han fick ett eget folk bland hedningarna. 15 Det stämmer väl överens med det budskap som står skrivet hos profeterna:
16 ’Sedan ska jag vända tillbaka
och bygga upp Davids fallna hydda.[d]
Jag ska resa upp det som ligger i ruiner,
17 så att alla andra människor kan söka Herren,
alla de folk över vilka mitt namn har utropats.[e]
Så säger Herren, som gjorde allt detta
18 känt för länge sedan.’[f]
19 Jag anser därför att vi inte ska ställa så många krav på hedningar som vänder sig till Gud. 20 Det räcker med att vi skriver till dem att de ska låta bli att äta sådant som orenats genom avgudadyrkan, att de ska avhålla sig från sexuell omoral och från att äta kött från kvävda djur samt blod.[g] 21 För Mose har man förkunnat överallt i alla städer under alla tider och han läses i synagogorna varje sabbat.”
Brevet från församlingen i Jerusalem
22 Sedan beslöt apostlarna och ledarna tillsammans med hela församlingen att man skulle sända några representanter till Antiochia tillsammans med Paulus och Barnabas. Det blev två av församlingsledarna: Judas (som kallades Barsabbas) och Silas.
23 Så här löd det brev de fick med sig:
Från apostlarna och församlingsledarna, till bröderna av hednisk härkomst i Antiochia, Syrien och Kilikien.
Varma hälsningar!
24 Vi har fått veta att några från oss har skapat oro och förvirring bland er med vad de har sagt men dessa män var inte utsända av oss. 25 Vi beslöt därför enhälligt att utse representanter och skicka dem till er tillsammans med våra älskade bröder Barnabas och Paulus, 26 dessa båda som har riskerat sina liv för vår Herre Jesus Kristus skull. 27 Våra representanter, Judas och Silas, kommer att framföra detsamma som vi skriver.
28 Den heliga Anden och vi har beslutat att inte kräva något annat av er än detta nödvändiga: 29 att ni avhåller er från kött som offrats till avgudar, blod, kött från kvävda djur och sexuell omoral. Om ni noga följer detta, handlar ni rätt.
Vi önskar er allt gott!
30 De sändes iväg och reste till Antiochia där man kallade samman de troende till ett möte och överlämnade brevet. 31 När man läste brevet blev alla glada över detta uppmuntrande besked. 32 Judas och Silas som själva var profeter talade sedan länge till församlingen och uppmuntrade och styrkte dem. 33 När de hade varit där en tid, reste Judas och Silas tillbaka till dem som hade sänt dem och församlingen i Antiochia önskade dem frid.[h] 35 Men Paulus och Barnabas stannade kvar i Antiochia där de tillsammans med många andra undervisade och spred budskapet om Herren.
Paulus och Barnabas skiljs åt
36 Efter ett tag sa Paulus till Barnabas: ”Borde vi inte åka tillbaka till alla de städer där vi har spridit budskapet om Herren för att se hur det går med de troende?” 37 Barnabas föreslog att de skulle ta med sig Johannes som kallades Markus. 38 Men Paulus var emot detta eftersom denne hade övergett dem i Pamfylien och inte varit med dem i deras arbete. 39 De blev så oeniga om detta att de skildes åt. Barnabas tog sedan med sig Markus och seglade till Cypern. 40 Paulus däremot valde Silas som medhjälpare och sedan de troende hade överlämnat dem åt Herrens nåd, gav han sig iväg. 41 Han reste genom Syrien och Kilikien för att uppmuntra församlingarna där.

15 And certain men which came down from Judaea taught the brethren, and said, Except ye be circumcised after the manner of Moses, ye cannot be saved.
2 When therefore Paul and Barnabas had no small dissension and disputation with them, they determined that Paul and Barnabas, and certain other of them, should go up to Jerusalem unto the apostles and elders about this question.
3 And being brought on their way by the church, they passed through Phenice and Samaria, declaring the conversion of the Gentiles: and they caused great joy unto all the brethren.
4 And when they were come to Jerusalem, they were received of the church, and of the apostles and elders, and they declared all things that God had done with them.
5 But there rose up certain of the sect of the Pharisees which believed, saying, That it was needful to circumcise them, and to command them to keep the law of Moses.
6 And the apostles and elders came together for to consider of this matter.
7 And when there had been much disputing, Peter rose up, and said unto them, Men and brethren, ye know how that a good while ago God made choice among us, that the Gentiles by my mouth should hear the word of the gospel, and believe.
8 And God, which knoweth the hearts, bare them witness, giving them the Holy Ghost, even as he did unto us;
9 And put no difference between us and them, purifying their hearts by faith.
10 Now therefore why tempt ye God, to put a yoke upon the neck of the disciples, which neither our fathers nor we were able to bear?
11 But we believe that through the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ we shall be saved, even as they.
12 Then all the multitude kept silence, and gave audience to Barnabas and Paul, declaring what miracles and wonders God had wrought among the Gentiles by them.
13 And after they had held their peace, James answered, saying, Men and brethren, hearken unto me:
14 Simeon hath declared how God at the first did visit the Gentiles, to take out of them a people for his name.
15 And to this agree the words of the prophets; as it is written,
16 After this I will return, and will build again the tabernacle of David, which is fallen down; and I will build again the ruins thereof, and I will set it up:
17 That the residue of men might seek after the Lord, and all the Gentiles, upon whom my name is called, saith the Lord, who doeth all these things.
18 Known unto God are all his works from the beginning of the world.
19 Wherefore my sentence is, that we trouble not them, which from among the Gentiles are turned to God:
20 But that we write unto them, that they abstain from pollutions of idols, and from fornication, and from things strangled, and from blood.
21 For Moses of old time hath in every city them that preach him, being read in the synagogues every sabbath day.
22 Then pleased it the apostles and elders with the whole church, to send chosen men of their own company to Antioch with Paul and Barnabas; namely, Judas surnamed Barsabas and Silas, chief men among the brethren:
23 And they wrote letters by them after this manner; The apostles and elders and brethren send greeting unto the brethren which are of the Gentiles in Antioch and Syria and Cilicia.
24 Forasmuch as we have heard, that certain which went out from us have troubled you with words, subverting your souls, saying, Ye must be circumcised, and keep the law: to whom we gave no such commandment:
25 It seemed good unto us, being assembled with one accord, to send chosen men unto you with our beloved Barnabas and Paul,
26 Men that have hazarded their lives for the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
27 We have sent therefore Judas and Silas, who shall also tell you the same things by mouth.
28 For it seemed good to the Holy Ghost, and to us, to lay upon you no greater burden than these necessary things;
29 That ye abstain from meats offered to idols, and from blood, and from things strangled, and from fornication: from which if ye keep yourselves, ye shall do well. Fare ye well.
30 So when they were dismissed, they came to Antioch: and when they had gathered the multitude together, they delivered the epistle:
31 Which when they had read, they rejoiced for the consolation.
32 And Judas and Silas, being prophets also themselves, exhorted the brethren with many words, and confirmed them.
33 And after they had tarried there a space, they were let go in peace from the brethren unto the apostles.
34 Notwithstanding it pleased Silas to abide there still.
35 Paul also and Barnabas continued in Antioch, teaching and preaching the word of the Lord, with many others also.
36 And some days after Paul said unto Barnabas, Let us go again and visit our brethren in every city where we have preached the word of the Lord, and see how they do.
37 And Barnabas determined to take with them John, whose surname was Mark.
38 But Paul thought not good to take him with them, who departed from them from Pamphylia, and went not with them to the work.
39 And the contention was so sharp between them, that they departed asunder one from the other: and so Barnabas took Mark, and sailed unto Cyprus;
40 And Paul chose Silas, and departed, being recommended by the brethren unto the grace of God.
41 And he went through Syria and Cilicia, confirming the churches.
