5 当时，有些外族人、犹太人及其官长企图恶待使徒，用石头打他们。 6 保罗和巴拿巴得知后，就逃往吕高尼的路司得和特庇二城并周围的地区， 7 在那里继续传扬福音。

In Iconium
14 The same thing happened in Iconium: Paul and Barnabas went to the synagogue and spoke in such a way that a great number of Jews and Gentiles became believers. 2 But the Jews who would not believe stirred up the Gentiles and turned them against the believers. 3 The apostles stayed there for a long time, speaking boldly about the Lord, who proved that their message about his grace was true by giving them the power to perform miracles and wonders. 4 The people of the city were divided: some were for the Jews, others for the apostles.
5 Then some Gentiles and Jews, together with their leaders, decided to mistreat the apostles and stone them. 6 When the apostles learned about it, they fled to the cities of Lystra and Derbe in Lycaonia and to the surrounding territory. 7 There they preached the Good News.
In Lystra and Derbe
8 In Lystra there was a crippled man who had been lame from birth and had never been able to walk. 9 He sat there and listened to Paul's words. Paul saw that he believed and could be healed, so he looked straight at him 10 and said in a loud voice, “Stand up straight on your feet!” The man jumped up and started walking around. 11 When the crowds saw what Paul had done, they started shouting in their own Lycaonian language, “The gods have become like men and have come down to us!” 12 They gave Barnabas the name Zeus, and Paul the name Hermes, because he was the chief speaker. 13 The priest of the god Zeus, whose temple stood just outside the town, brought bulls and flowers to the gate, for he and the crowds wanted to offer sacrifice to the apostles.
14 When Barnabas and Paul heard what they were about to do, they tore their clothes and ran into the middle of the crowd, shouting, 15 (A)“Why are you doing this? We ourselves are only human beings like you! We are here to announce the Good News, to turn you away from these worthless things to the living God, who made heaven, earth, sea, and all that is in them. 16 In the past he allowed all people to go their own way. 17 But he has always given evidence of his existence by the good things he does: he gives you rain from heaven and crops at the right times; he gives you food and fills your hearts with happiness.” 18 Even with these words the apostles could hardly keep the crowd from offering a sacrifice to them.
19 Some Jews came from Antioch in Pisidia and from Iconium; they won the crowds over to their side, stoned Paul and dragged him out of the town, thinking that he was dead. 20 But when the believers gathered around him, he got up and went back into the town. The next day he and Barnabas went to Derbe.
The Return to Antioch in Syria
21 Paul and Barnabas preached the Good News in Derbe and won many disciples. Then they went back to Lystra, to Iconium, and on to Antioch in Pisidia. 22 They strengthened the believers and encouraged them to remain true to the faith. “We must pass through many troubles to enter the Kingdom of God,” they taught. 23 In each church they appointed elders, and with prayers and fasting they commended them to the Lord, in whom they had put their trust.
24 After going through the territory of Pisidia, they came to Pamphylia. 25 There they preached the message in Perga and then went to Attalia, 26 and from there they sailed back to Antioch, the place where they had been commended to the care of God's grace for the work they had now completed.
27 When they arrived in Antioch, they gathered the people of the church together and told them about all that God had done with them and how he had opened the way for the Gentiles to believe. 28 And they stayed a long time there with the believers.

14 Pablo y Bernabé fueron a la sinagoga judía en Iconio y predicaron de tal modo que un gran número de gentiles y judíos creyeron. 2 Pero los judíos incrédulos sembraron mala voluntad entre los gentiles contra los hermanos. 3 Sin embargo, Pablo y Bernabé permanecieron allí bastante tiempo, predicando abiertamente en el nombre del Señor; quien les concedía el poder de hacer grandes milagros que confirmaban el mensaje de su gracia.
4 La opinión de los habitantes de la ciudad estaba dividida. Unos estaban de parte de los judíos y otros respaldaban a los apóstoles. 5 Cuando Pablo y Bernabé se enteraron de que los judíos y los gentiles, junto con sus dirigentes, estaban urdiendo un plan para que los atacaran y apedrearan, 6 huyeron a Listra y a Derbe, ciudades de Licaonia, y a las regiones adyacentes, 7 y allí predicaron el evangelio.

8 Estando en Listra, pasaron junto a un hombre inválido de nacimiento, que nunca había caminado porque tenía los pies tullidos. 9 Ese hombre estaba muy atento a la predicación de Pablo. Este, al notarlo, comprendió que aquel hombre tenía suficiente fe para obtener su sanidad.
10 ―¡Levántate! —le ordenó Pablo.
E inmediatamente el hombre se puso de pie y salió caminando.
11 Cuando el gentío vio lo que Pablo había hecho, gritaron (en el dialecto local):
―¡Estos son dioses con cuerpos humanos que han venido a visitarnos!
12 ¡Creían que Bernabé era Zeus y que Pablo, por cuanto era el orador principal, era Hermes! 13 El sacerdote de Zeus, cuyo templo estaba situado en las afueras de la ciudad, llevó flores y toros para ofrecerles sacrificios, junto con el gentío. 14 Cuando Bernabé y Pablo se dieron cuenta de lo que estaba ocurriendo, se rasgaron la ropa y se lanzaron entre la multitud gritando:
15 ―¡Señores! ¿Qué están haciendo? ¡Nosotros somos seres humanos como cualquiera de ustedes! Hemos venido a traerles las buenas noticias de que deben dejar ya estas cosas que no sirven para nada, y que se vuelvan al Dios viviente que hizo los cielos, la tierra, el mar y cuanto en ellos existe. 16 En el pasado, Dios permitió que las naciones anduvieran en sus propios caminos, 17 aunque nunca las dejó sin algo que hablara de él. ¡Y les dio la lluvia, las buenas cosechas, y llenó de alimentos y alegría los corazones!
18 A pesar de todo lo que dijeron, a duras penas pudieron evitar que el gentío les ofreciera sacrificio.
19 Sin embargo, llegaron de Antioquía e Iconio varios judíos que hicieron que ese gentío cambiara de parecer y apedreara a Pablo. Como creían que estaba muerto, lo arrastraron fuera de la ciudad. 20 Pero luego, mientras los creyentes lo rodeaban, Pablo se levantó y regresó a la ciudad. Al día siguiente él y Bernabé partieron rumbo a Derbe.

21 Después de predicar el evangelio en Derbe y ganar muchos discípulos, regresaron a Listra, a Iconio y a Antioquía, 22 donde fortalecieron a los discípulos y los animaron a seguir firmes en la fe. Les decían que era necesario que entraran al reino de Dios después de pasar por muchas tribulaciones.
23 Además, nombraron ancianos en cada iglesia, a los cuales, después de orar y ayunar con ellos, encomendaron al cuidado del Señor en quien habían creído.
24 Luego, ya de regreso, pasaron por Pisidia y Panfilia, 25 predicaron de nuevo en Perge y fueron a Atalía. 26 Finalmente, regresaron por barco a Antioquía, donde los habían encomendado a la gracia de Dios para que realizaran el trabajo que acababan de completar.
27 Sin perder tiempo, reunieron a la iglesia y les informaron de todo lo que Dios había hecho por medio de ellos y les contaron cómo Dios había abierto la puerta de la fe también a los gentiles.

Paul and Barnabas in Iconium
14 In Iconium, Paul and Barnabas went as usual to the Jewish synagogue. They spoke so well that a great many Jews and Greeks believed. 2 But some of the Jews who did not believe excited the non-Jewish people and turned them against the believers. 3 But Paul and Barnabas stayed in Iconium a long time and spoke bravely for the Lord. The Lord showed that their message about his grace was true by giving them the power to work miracles and signs. 4 But some of the people in the city agreed with the Jews. Others believed the apostles. So the city was divided.
5 Some non-Jewish people, some Jews, and some of their rulers wanted to harm Paul and Barnabas by killing them with stones. 6 When Paul and Barnabas learned about this, they went to Lystra and Derbe, cities in Lycaonia, and to the areas around those cities. 7 They announced the Good News there, too.

8 In Lystra there sat a man who had been born crippled; he had never walked. 9 This man was listening to Paul speak. Paul looked straight at him and saw that the man believed God could heal him. 10 So he cried out, “Stand up on your feet!” The man jumped up and began walking around. 11 When the crowds saw what Paul did, they shouted in their own Lycaonian language. They said, “The gods have become like men! They have come down to us!” 12 And the people began to call Barnabas “Zeus.”[a] They called Paul “Hermes,”[b] because he was the main speaker. 13 The temple of Zeus was near the city. The priest of this temple brought some bulls and flowers to the city gates. The priest and the people wanted to offer a sacrifice to Paul and Barnabas. 14 But when the apostles, Barnabas and Paul, understood what they were about to do, they tore their clothes in anger. Then they ran in among the people and shouted, 15 “Men, why are you doing these things? We are only men, human beings like you! We are bringing you the Good News. We are telling you to turn away from these worthless things and turn to the true living God. He is the One who made the sky, the earth, the sea, and everything that is in them. 16 In the past, God let all the nations do what they wanted. 17 Yet he did things to prove he is real: He shows kindness to you. He gives you rain from heaven and crops at the right times. He gives you food and fills your hearts with joy.” 18 Even with these words, they were barely able to keep the crowd from offering sacrifices to them.
19 Then some Jews came from Antioch and Iconium. They persuaded the people to turn against Paul. And so they threw stones at Paul and dragged him out of town. They thought that they had killed him. 20 But the followers gathered around him, and he got up and went back into the town. The next day, he and Barnabas left and went to the city of Derbe.
The Return to Antioch in Syria
21 Paul and Barnabas told the Good News in Derbe and many became followers. Paul and Barnabas returned to Lystra, Iconium, and Antioch. 22 In those cities they made the followers of Jesus stronger. They helped them to stay in the faith. They said, “We must suffer many things to enter God’s kingdom.” 23 They chose elders for each church, by praying and giving up eating.[c] These elders were men who had trusted the Lord. So Paul and Barnabas put them in the Lord’s care.
24 Then they went through Pisidia and came to Pamphylia. 25 They preached the message in Perga, and then they went down to Attalia. 26 And from there they sailed away to Antioch. This is where the believers had put them into God’s care and had sent them out to do this work. And now they had finished the work.
27 When they arrived in Antioch, they gathered the church together. Paul and Barnabas told them all about what God had done with them. They told how God had made it possible for the non-Jews to believe! 28 And they stayed there a long time with the followers.

- 14:23 giving up eating This is called “fasting.” The people would give up eating for a special time of prayer and worship to God. It was also done to show sadness.
