³⁹ And we are witnesses of all the things that he did both in the land of the Judeans and in Jerusalem, whom they also executed by^[a] hanging him^[b] on a tree. ⁴⁰ God raised this one up on the third day and granted that he should become visible, ⁴¹ not to all the people but to us who had been chosen beforehand by God as witnesses, who ate and drank with him after he rose from the dead. ⁴² And he commanded us to preach to the people and to testify solemnly that this one is the one appointed^[c] by God as judge of the living and of the dead. ⁴³ To this one all the prophets testify, that through his name everyone who believes in him receives forgiveness of sins.”
