8 パウロは、ステパノを殺すことに大賛成でした。その日から、激しい迫害の嵐がエルサレムの教会を襲い、使徒たち以外の者はみな、ユダヤやサマリヤへ散らされました。 2 ステパノの遺体は、敬虔なユダヤ人たちの手で、悲しみのうちに埋葬されました。 3 一方、パウロは教会を荒らし回り、家々に押し入っては男女を問わず引きずり出し、留置場にぶち込みました。
ピリポ、サマリヤへ
4 しかし、エルサレムから逃げ出したクリスチャンたちは、どこへ行っても、神のことばを伝えて歩きました。 5 ピリポはサマリヤの町へ行き、人々にキリストのことを話しました。 6 ピリポが奇跡を行ったので、みな彼の話に熱心に耳を傾けたのです。 7 悪霊どもは大声でわめきながら人々から出て行き、中風（脳出血などによる半身不随、手足のまひ等の症状）の人や足の不自由な人たちも、次々に治りました。 8 今や、町中が喜びにわき返り、大騒ぎです。
9-11 さてこの町には、長年、魔術を行ってきた人がいました。シモンと言い、持ち前の不思議な力で人々を驚かせていたので、サマリヤ地方でたいへんな影響力を持っていました。メシヤではないかと言われたこともしばしばでした。 12 しかし今は、だいぶ様子が違ってきました。ピリポが来て、イエスこそメシヤだと教えたからです。彼が神の国について話すのを聞き、大ぜいの人が信じ、男も女もみなバプテスマ（洗礼）を受けました。 13 そのうちにシモンも信じ、バプテスマを受けることになりました。彼はピリポの行くところはどこへでもついて行き、その奇跡に驚いていました。
14 エルサレムにとどまっていた使徒たちは、サマリヤ人が神の教えを信じたと伝え聞き、ペテロとヨハネを派遣しました。 15 二人はサマリヤに来ると、さっそく、新しいクリスチャンたちが聖霊を受けるようにと祈りました。 16 主イエスの名によってバプテスマを受けただけで、まだ聖霊が下っていなかったからです。 17 二人が信者たちに手を置いて祈ると、みな聖霊を受けました。
18 使徒たちが手を置くと聖霊が与えられるのを見たシモンは、この力を買い取ろうと、お金を持ってやって来ました。 19 「お願いです。手を置けば、だれでも聖霊が受けられるように、私にもその力を下さい。」彼はしきりに頼みました。
20 しかし、ペテロは答えました。「その金もろとも滅んでしまいなさい！ 金で神の賜物が買えるとでも思っているのか。とんでもない見当違いだ。 21 心が神の前に正しくないのに、この特権がいただけるはずがない。 22 こんなことは二度としてはいけない。悔い改めて祈りなさい。あなたのような不心得者でも、まだ赦していただけるかもしれない。 23 私にはちゃんとわかっている。あなたの心の中は、ねたみと罪でいっぱいだ。」 24 シモンは驚いて叫びました。「ああ、そんな恐ろしいことが起こらないように祈ってください！」
25 ペテロとヨハネは、このサマリヤの町で、イエスのことを証言したり語ったりしてから、サマリヤ人のあちこちの村へ行って福音（イエス・キリストによる救いの知らせ）を伝えながら、エルサレムへ戻りました。
26 ところで、ピリポはどうしたでしょう。主の使いが現れて、「さあ、エルサレムからガザの荒野へ通じる道に出なさい」と言うではありませんか。 27 言われたとおりにすると、エチオピヤの女王カンダケのもとで、大きな権力を持ち、女王の財政を管理していたエチオピヤ人の宦官（宮殿や支配者の後宮に仕える、去勢された男性の役人）が向こうから来ます。この人は、神殿で礼拝するためにエルサレムへ行き、 28 いま馬車で帰るところで、ちょうど預言者イザヤの書を声に出して読んでいました。
29 聖霊がピリポをうながしました。「さあ、あの馬車に近づいて、いっしょに行きなさい。」 30 ピリポが走り寄ると、イザヤの書を読んでいるのが聞こえます。そこで、「失礼ですが、その意味がおわかりですか」と尋ねました。 31 「残念ながら、だれかが教えてくれないとわかりません。」こう答えると、その人はピリポに、馬車に乗ってそばに座ってほしいと頼みました。
32-33 読んでいたのは、こういうところでした。
「その方は、
殺されるために引かれて行く羊のように、
また、
毛を刈る者たちの前で黙っている小羊のように、
口を開かなかった。
その方は卑しい者と見なされ、
正しいさばきも受けなかった。
だれが、この時代の人々の邪悪さを語れよう。
その方のいのちが地上から取り去られたからには。」（イザヤ53・7-9）
34 宦官はピリポに尋ねました。「その方とは、いったいだれのことですか。イザヤは自分のことを言っているのでしょうか。それとも、だれかほかの人のことを言っているのでしょうか。」
35 ピリポはこのイザヤのことばから始めて、旧約聖書のあちこちを引用し、イエスのことをくわしく説明しました。
36 さて、道を進んで行くうちに、水のある所に来ました。すると宦官は、「見てください。水があります。ここでバプテスマを受けることはできないでしょうか」と言いました。
37 「心から信じておられるなら、もちろんかまいませんよ。」「私はイエス・キリストを神の子と信じます。」
38 宦官がはっきり告白したので、馬車を止めさせ、二人して水の中に入り、ピリポはバプテスマを授けました。 39 二人が水から上がった時、主の霊が、あっという間にピリポを連れ去りました。宦官はもう二度とピリポの姿を見ることはできませんでしたが、喜びに胸をはずませ、旅を続けました。 40 一方、ピリポはアゾトの町に姿を現し、そこから町々で福音を伝えながら、カイザリヤに向かいました。

教會受迫害
8 當時，掃羅也贊成殺死司提凡。從那天起，耶路撒冷的教會開始遭到極大的迫害。除了使徒之外，門徒都分散到猶太和撒瑪利亞各地。 2 有些虔誠人將司提凡埋葬了，為他大聲痛哭。
3 掃羅卻在摧毀教會，他挨家挨戶搜尋，把男女信徒抓進監裡。
腓利傳揚福音
4 但那些逃往各地的信徒逃到哪裡，就將福音傳到哪裡。 5 腓利來到撒瑪利亞城宣講基督。 6 城裡的人耳聞目睹他所行的神蹟，都聚精會神地聽他講道。 7 當時有許多人被污鬼附身，那些污鬼大聲喊叫著被趕了出來。還有不少癱子和瘸子也被醫好了。 8 城裡洋溢著歡樂的氣氛。
術士歸主
9 有個名叫西門的術士，向來妄自尊大，曾用邪術使撒瑪利亞人驚奇不已。 10 無論貴賤，眾人都聽從他，稱他為「上帝的大能者」。 11 他們聽從他，因為他長期用邪術迷惑他們。 12 後來，他們相信了腓利所傳關於上帝的國度和耶穌基督的福音，男男女女都接受了洗禮。 13 西門本人也信了基督，接受了洗禮，並常常追隨腓利左右。腓利所行的神蹟奇事令他非常驚奇。

24 西門說：「請為我求求主，免得我遭受你們所說的刑罰。」
25 彼得和約翰為主做見證，傳講主的道。之後，他們啟程回耶路撒冷，沿途又在撒瑪利亞各村莊傳揚福音。
太監歸主
26 有一天，主的天使對腓利說：「起來，向南走，往耶路撒冷通往迦薩的路去。」那條路很荒涼。 27 腓利立刻動身，結果在那條路上遇見一個衣索匹亞的太監。他是衣索匹亞女王甘大基手下的重臣，負責管理國庫。他剛從耶路撒冷參加敬拜回來， 28 正坐在車上誦讀以賽亞先知的書。 29 聖靈吩咐腓利：「趕上去，貼近那輛馬車！」
30 腓利跑上前，聽見太監在誦讀以賽亞先知的書，就問：「你明白所讀的經文嗎？」
31 他說：「沒有人為我解釋，我怎能明白呢？」他就請腓利上車和他一起坐。 32 他剛才念的那段經文是：
「祂默然不語，
像被人牽去宰殺的羔羊，
又如在剪毛人手下一聲不吭的綿羊。
33 祂忍受恥辱，
無人為祂主持公道，
誰能明白那個世代呢？
因為祂的生命竟然被奪去。」
34 太監問腓利：「請問先知是在說誰？在說他自己還是在說別人？」 35 腓利就從這段經文入手向他傳耶穌的福音。 36 他們往前走的時候，經過一處有水的地方，太監說：「你看，這裡有水，我可以在這裡接受洗禮嗎？」 37 腓利說：「只要你全心相信，當然可以。」太監說：「我相信耶穌基督是上帝的兒子！」
38 於是，太監吩咐停車，二人一同下到水裡，腓利為他施洗。 39 他們從水裡上來時，主的靈把腓利帶走了。太監看不見腓利了，就繼續前行，滿心歡喜。 40 後來，腓利出現在亞鎖都。他走遍那裡，在各城各鄉傳揚福音，直到凱撒利亞。

信じる仲間たちへの迫害、そして拡散
その日から、エルサレムの教会に対する大きな迫害が始まった。サウロもそのグループを滅ぼそうとしていたのだ。サウロは彼らの家に行くと、男も女も構わず引きずり出し、牢屋に放り込んだ。こうして、使徒を除いたほとんどの信じる仲間たちはエルサレムを後にし、その場から去って行った。彼らはユダヤ地方やサマリア地方など、いたるところへ散らばっていたのだ。 4 そして、どこへ行っても、彼らは人々に最高な知らせを伝えていった。
サマリアで最高な知らせを伝えるピリポ
5 ピリポはサマリアの街へ行き、救い主について人々に伝えた。 6 そこに住んでいる人々はピリポの話を聞いて、ピリポが行う奇跡を見たのだ。彼らはみんなピリポの言葉を真剣に聞いた。 7 ここにいた多くの人たちは悪霊によって支配されていたが、ピリポが取り憑いている悪霊たちを追い払ったのだ。悪霊たちがその人たちから出て行く時、悪霊たちは大声を出して去って行った。また、そこには身体が麻痺してしまい体を動かせない人たちや、歩けない人たちが大勢いた。ピリポはこの人たちも治してあげた。 8 その街にとって、とても幸せな日だった。
9 さて、その街にはシモンという名の男が住んでいた。ピリポが街に来る前、シモンは魔術を使い、サマリアの全ての人を驚かせていたのだ。彼は自分を偉大な者だと言い、自慢していたのである。 10 身分の高い者も、低い者も、全ての人がシモンの言うことを信じていた。彼らはみんな言った。「あの方は、神の偉大な力と呼ばれる方である」 11 シモンは長い間、その魔術で人々を魅了しつづけていたのだ。そして、人々は彼の信者となっていた。 12 しかし、ピリポは変わらず神の王国についての最高な知らせと、イエス・キリストについてを人々に伝えていった。そして、男も女もピリポを信じ、洗礼を受けていった。 13 すると、シモン自身もそのことを信じ、洗礼を受けたのだ。その後、シモンはピリポのそばから離れず、ピリポの行う奇跡や力強いことを見てはそれに魅了された。

18 この時、シモン（魔術で魅了していたシモン）は見たのだ。使徒たちが彼らに手を置いた時、聖霊が人々に与えられるのを。そこでシモンは使徒たちにお金を支払い、その力を買おうとしたのだ。 19 シモンはこう言った。「私にその力をください。私が誰かに手を置いて祈った時、彼らが聖霊を受け取れるように」
20 すると、ペテロがシモンに言った。「お前もお前のお金も、両方とも崩壊してしまえば良い！神の贈り物を金で買い取るだと！ありえん！ 21 こんなやり方では俺たちと共有することはできない！お前の心は神の前で正しくない！ 22 心を変えろ！その悪い考えから離れて、神に祈るんだ。そしたらおそらく神も赦してくれるだろう。 23 お前の中は苦い嫉妬心でいっぱいで、お前の過ちがお前自身に間違ったことをさせようとしているのが見える」
24 シモンは答えた。「お二人の言ったことが私の身に起こらないように、神様に祈ってください！」
25 それから2人の使徒はイエスのしたこと、また彼らが見てきたことを人々に伝えていった。王であるイエスからのメッセージを彼らに伝えたのだ。その後、彼らはエルサレムに戻り、その途中、多くのサマリアの町々を通り、彼らは人々に最高な知らせを伝えていった。
エチオピアの男に教えるピリポ
26 神の天使がピリポに言った。「準備をして、エルサレムからガザに続く砂漠を通って、南の道に進みなさい」
27 そこでピリポは準備を整えて出かけて行った。その道中、ピリポはエチオピア出身の男に出会った。彼は、エチオピア女王カンダケに仕える重要な役人であり、彼女の全てのお金の管理を任せられていた宦官の男であった。この男は神を讃えるために神殿のあるエルサレムを訪れていたのだ。——【宦官とは、去勢を施された王宮で仕える男性のこと】 28 そして、彼はそこから家に帰る途中だった。彼は馬車に座って、預言者イザヤの書を読んでいた。
29 聖霊はピリポに言った。「あの馬車に行き、近くに寄りなさい」 30 そこで彼が馬車に向かうと、預言者イザヤの書を読んでいる男の声が聞こえた。ピリポは彼に尋ねた。「あなたは、自分が読んでいるものを理解できていますか？」
31 男は答えた。「どうやったら理解できるんでしょう？誰か説明してくれる人が必要ですね」それから彼はピリポを馬車に乗せて一緒に座らないかと誘った。 32 彼が読んでいた聖書の一部はこれだ。
「彼は肉屋に連れて行かれる羊のように、

8 And Saul(A) approved of their killing him.
The Church Persecuted and Scattered
On that day a great persecution broke out against the church in Jerusalem, and all except the apostles were scattered(B) throughout Judea and Samaria.(C) 2 Godly men buried Stephen and mourned deeply for him. 3 But Saul(D) began to destroy the church.(E) Going from house to house, he dragged off both men and women and put them in prison.
Philip in Samaria
4 Those who had been scattered(F) preached the word wherever they went.(G) 5 Philip(H) went down to a city in Samaria and proclaimed the Messiah there. 6 When the crowds heard Philip and saw the signs he performed, they all paid close attention to what he said. 7 For with shrieks, impure spirits came out of many,(I) and many who were paralyzed or lame were healed.(J) 8 So there was great joy in that city.
Simon the Sorcerer
9 Now for some time a man named Simon had practiced sorcery(K) in the city and amazed all the people of Samaria. He boasted that he was someone great,(L) 10 and all the people, both high and low, gave him their attention and exclaimed, “This man is rightly called the Great Power of God.”(M) 11 They followed him because he had amazed them for a long time with his sorcery. 12 But when they believed Philip as he proclaimed the good news of the kingdom of God(N) and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized,(O) both men and women. 13 Simon himself believed and was baptized. And he followed Philip everywhere, astonished by the great signs and miracles(P) he saw.
14 When the apostles in Jerusalem heard that Samaria(Q) had accepted the word of God,(R) they sent Peter and John(S) to Samaria. 15 When they arrived, they prayed for the new believers there that they might receive the Holy Spirit,(T) 16 because the Holy Spirit had not yet come on any of them;(U) they had simply been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.(V) 17 Then Peter and John placed their hands on them,(W) and they received the Holy Spirit.(X)
18 When Simon saw that the Spirit was given at the laying on of the apostles’ hands, he offered them money 19 and said, “Give me also this ability so that everyone on whom I lay my hands may receive the Holy Spirit.”
20 Peter answered: “May your money perish with you, because you thought you could buy the gift of God with money!(Y) 21 You have no part or share(Z) in this ministry, because your heart is not right(AA) before God. 22 Repent(AB) of this wickedness and pray to the Lord in the hope that he may forgive you for having such a thought in your heart. 23 For I see that you are full of bitterness and captive to sin.”
24 Then Simon answered, “Pray to the Lord for me(AC) so that nothing you have said may happen to me.”
25 After they had further proclaimed the word of the Lord(AD) and testified about Jesus, Peter and John returned to Jerusalem, preaching the gospel in many Samaritan villages.(AE)
Philip and the Ethiopian
26 Now an angel(AF) of the Lord said to Philip,(AG) “Go south to the road—the desert road—that goes down from Jerusalem to Gaza.” 27 So he started out, and on his way he met an Ethiopian[a](AH) eunuch,(AI) an important official in charge of all the treasury of the Kandake (which means “queen of the Ethiopians”). This man had gone to Jerusalem to worship,(AJ) 28 and on his way home was sitting in his chariot reading the Book of Isaiah the prophet. 29 The Spirit told(AK) Philip, “Go to that chariot and stay near it.”
30 Then Philip ran up to the chariot and heard the man reading Isaiah the prophet. “Do you understand what you are reading?” Philip asked.
31 “How can I,” he said, “unless someone explains it to me?” So he invited Philip to come up and sit with him.
32 This is the passage of Scripture the eunuch was reading:
“He was led like a sheep to the slaughter,
and as a lamb before its shearer is silent,
so he did not open his mouth.
33 In his humiliation he was deprived of justice.
Who can speak of his descendants?
For his life was taken from the earth.”[b](AL)
34 The eunuch asked Philip, “Tell me, please, who is the prophet talking about, himself or someone else?” 35 Then Philip began(AM) with that very passage of Scripture(AN) and told him the good news(AO) about Jesus.
36 As they traveled along the road, they came to some water and the eunuch said, “Look, here is water. What can stand in the way of my being baptized?”(AP) [37] [c] 38 And he gave orders to stop the chariot. Then both Philip and the eunuch went down into the water and Philip baptized him. 39 When they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord suddenly took Philip away,(AQ) and the eunuch did not see him again, but went on his way rejoicing. 40 Philip, however, appeared at Azotus and traveled about, preaching the gospel in all the towns(AR) until he reached Caesarea.(AS)

8 And Saul was consenting unto his death. And at that time there was a great persecution against the church which was at Jerusalem; and they were all scattered abroad throughout the regions of Judaea and Samaria, except the apostles.
2 And devout men carried Stephen to his burial, and made great lamentation over him.
3 As for Saul, he made havock of the church, entering into every house, and haling men and women committed them to prison.
4 Therefore they that were scattered abroad went every where preaching the word.
5 Then Philip went down to the city of Samaria, and preached Christ unto them.
6 And the people with one accord gave heed unto those things which Philip spake, hearing and seeing the miracles which he did.
7 For unclean spirits, crying with loud voice, came out of many that were possessed with them: and many taken with palsies, and that were lame, were healed.
8 And there was great joy in that city.
9 But there was a certain man, called Simon, which beforetime in the same city used sorcery, and bewitched the people of Samaria, giving out that himself was some great one:
10 To whom they all gave heed, from the least to the greatest, saying, This man is the great power of God.
11 And to him they had regard, because that of long time he had bewitched them with sorceries.
12 But when they believed Philip preaching the things concerning the kingdom of God, and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women.
13 Then Simon himself believed also: and when he was baptized, he continued with Philip, and wondered, beholding the miracles and signs which were done.
14 Now when the apostles which were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent unto them Peter and John:
15 Who, when they were come down, prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Ghost:
16 (For as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.)
17 Then laid they their hands on them, and they received the Holy Ghost.
18 And when Simon saw that through laying on of the apostles' hands the Holy Ghost was given, he offered them money,
19 Saying, Give me also this power, that on whomsoever I lay hands, he may receive the Holy Ghost.
20 But Peter said unto him, Thy money perish with thee, because thou hast thought that the gift of God may be purchased with money.
21 Thou hast neither part nor lot in this matter: for thy heart is not right in the sight of God.
22 Repent therefore of this thy wickedness, and pray God, if perhaps the thought of thine heart may be forgiven thee.
23 For I perceive that thou art in the gall of bitterness, and in the bond of iniquity.
24 Then answered Simon, and said, Pray ye to the Lord for me, that none of these things which ye have spoken come upon me.
25 And they, when they had testified and preached the word of the Lord, returned to Jerusalem, and preached the gospel in many villages of the Samaritans.
26 And the angel of the Lord spake unto Philip, saying, Arise, and go toward the south unto the way that goeth down from Jerusalem unto Gaza, which is desert.
27 And he arose and went: and, behold, a man of Ethiopia, an eunuch of great authority under Candace queen of the Ethiopians, who had the charge of all her treasure, and had come to Jerusalem for to worship,
28 Was returning, and sitting in his chariot read Esaias the prophet.
29 Then the Spirit said unto Philip, Go near, and join thyself to this chariot.
30 And Philip ran thither to him, and heard him read the prophet Esaias, and said, Understandest thou what thou readest?
31 And he said, How can I, except some man should guide me? And he desired Philip that he would come up and sit with him.
32 The place of the scripture which he read was this, He was led as a sheep to the slaughter; and like a lamb dumb before his shearer, so opened he not his mouth:
33 In his humiliation his judgment was taken away: and who shall declare his generation? for his life is taken from the earth.
34 And the eunuch answered Philip, and said, I pray thee, of whom speaketh the prophet this? of himself, or of some other man?
35 Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same scripture, and preached unto him Jesus.
36 And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized?
37 And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.
38 And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him.
39 And when they were come up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught away Philip, that the eunuch saw him no more: and he went on his way rejoicing.
40 But Philip was found at Azotus: and passing through he preached in all the cities, till he came to Caesarea.
