以色列人的罪行
4 以色列人哪！你們要聽耶和華的話。
耶和華要與這地的居民爭辯，
因為在這地上沒有誠實，沒有慈愛，
也沒有認識 神的知識；
2 只有起假誓、撒謊、殘殺、偷盜、姦淫、行強暴，以至流人血事件相繼而來。
3 因此，這地必悲哀，
地上所有的居民、
田野的走獸、空中的飛鳥都必衰微、枯萎，連海裡的魚也要滅亡。
祭司的罪行
4 雖然這樣，人人都不必爭論，不要彼此指責。
你的民像爭辯的祭司一樣。
5 白天你要跌倒，
晚上先知也必與你一同跌倒；
我要毀滅你的母親。
6 我的子民因無知識而滅亡；
因為你拒絕了知識，
我必拒絕你，不讓你作我的祭司；
因為你忘掉了你 神的律法，
我也必忘記你的子孫。
7 祭司越增多，就越發得罪我，
我必把他們的尊榮變為恥辱。
8 他們藉著我的子民犯罪來養活自己，
渴望他們多有罪孽。
9 所以，祭司怎樣，人民也怎樣。
我必按他們的行為懲罰他們，
照他們的行為報應他們。
10 他們吃，卻吃不飽；
行淫，人數卻不會增多；
因為他們離棄了耶和華，不遵守他的命令。
拜偶像的罪行
11 淫行、酒和新酒，把人的心奪走了。
12 我的子民求問木頭，由木杖引導他們，
因為淫蕩的靈使他們走迷了路，
他們就行淫不順從 神。
13 他們在山頂上獻祭，
在岡陵上的橡樹、楊樹和栗樹之下獻祭燒香，
因為樹蔭美好。
所以你們的女兒行淫亂，
你們的兒媳犯姦淫。
14 我卻不因你們的女兒行淫亂，
也不因你們的兒媳犯姦淫而懲罰她們，
因為你們男人自己離群與娼妓在一起，
又與廟妓一同獻祭。
這無知的人民必遭毀滅。
耶和華的警告
15 以色列啊！你雖然行淫，
猶大卻不可犯罪，
不要往吉甲去，
不要上到伯．亞文，
也不要指著永活的耶和華起誓。
16 以色列倔強，
好像倔強的母牛，
現在耶和華怎樣牧放他們，
好像牧放寬闊草場上的羊羔呢？
17 以法蓮和偶像連在一起，
任憑他吧！
18 他們醉意全消以後，
就不斷行淫；
他們的官長最喜愛恥辱的事。
19 風要把他們裹在翅膀裡捲去，
他們必因自己所獻的祭祀而蒙受羞辱。

4 以色列人啊，
你们要留心听耶和华的话。
祂指控住在这片土地上的居民，说：
“这片土地上的人不忠不信，
毫无良善，不认识上帝。
2 他们咒诅、撒谎、凶杀、偷窃、通奸，
为所欲为，血案累累。
3 所以，这片土地要哀鸣，
所有的居民都要消亡，
田间的野兽、空中的飞鸟、
水里的鱼类也要灭绝。”
4 耶和华说：
“谁都不要指控别人，
谁都不要责备别人，
因为我要指控的是你们祭司。
5 你们白天黑夜都要跌倒，
先知也要跟你们一起跌倒，
所以我要毁灭你们的母亲以色列。
6 我的子民因不认识我而遭毁灭。
因为你们拒绝认识我，
我也要拒绝让你们做我的祭司；
因为你们忘记我的律法，
我也要忘记你们的儿女。
7 你们祭司越增多，
所犯的罪也越多，
所以我要使你们的尊荣变为羞耻。
8 你们祭司借我子民的赎罪祭自肥，
满心希望他们犯罪。
9 将来，我的子民如何，
你们祭司也如何。
我要照你们的所作所为惩罚你们、报应你们，
10 使你们吃却不得饱足，
行淫却不得后代[a]。
因为你们背弃耶和华，
11 沉溺酒色，丧失心志。
12 “我的子民祈求木头，
随从木杖的指引。
淫乱的心使他们走入歧途，
他们不忠不贞，背弃他们的上帝。
13 他们在山顶和高岗上的橡树、
杨树和栗树下献祭烧香，
因为树荫怡人。
“所以，你们的女儿卖淫，
你们的儿媳通奸。
14 但我不会因此而惩罚她们，
因为你们也与娼妓苟合，
与庙妓一起献祭。
无知的民族必走向灭亡。

Herrens anklagelser mot Israel
4 (A) Hör Herrens ord, ni Israels barn,
för Herren går till rätta
med dem som bor i landet,
för det finns ingen sanning
och ingen kärlek
och ingen kunskap om Gud
i landet.
2 (B) De svär och ljuger,
mördar och stjäl och är otrogna.
De brukar våld
och blodsdåd följer på blodsdåd.
3 (C) Därför sörjer landet
och allt som lever där tynar bort,
både markens djur
och himlens fåglar
och havets fiskar försvinner.
4 (D) Ingen ska anklaga eller gå till rätta
med någon annan.
Ditt folk liknar dem som anklagar
en präst.
5 (E) Du ska komma på fall om dagen,
även profeten ska komma på fall
tillsammans med dig om natten.
Också din mor ska jag förgöra.
6 (F) Mitt folk går under
av brist på kunskap.
Eftersom du har förkastat kunskap
ska också jag förkasta dig
från att vara min präst.
Du glömde
din Guds undervisning,
därför ska också jag glömma
dina barn.
7 Ju fler de blev,
desto mer syndade de mot mig.
Jag ska förvandla deras ära[a]
till skam.
8 De lever av mitt folks synd
och längtar efter folkets
missgärning.
9 (G) Därför ska det gå prästen
och folket lika.
Jag ska straffa dem för deras vägar
och ge dem för deras gärningar.
10 (H) De ska äta men inte bli mätta,
begå otukt men inte föröka sig,
för de har slutat
hålla sig till Herren.
11 (I) Otukt och vin, gammalt eller nytt,
tar bort förståndet.
12 (J) Mitt folk frågar sin avgudabild av trä
och hämtar svar från sin stav,
för en otuktsande har vilselett dem
så att de begår otukt
och överger sin Gud.
13 (K) På bergens toppar offrar de,
och på höjderna tänder de rökelse
under ekar, popplar
och terebinter
eftersom skuggan där är skön.
Så begår era döttrar otukt
och era sonhustrur otrohet.
14 (L) Jag kan inte straffa era döttrar
för deras otukt
eller era sonhustrur
för deras otrohet,
för männen går själva iväg
med prostituerade
och offrar med tempelflickor.[b]
Ett folk som inget förstår går under.
15 (M) Om du, Israel, vill begå otukt,
så låt inte Juda dra på sig skuld.
Gå inte till Gilgal,
dra inte upp till Bet-Aven[c]
och svär inte:
”Så sant Herren lever.”
16 Som en envis kviga envisas Israel.
Ska då Herren låta dem beta[d]
som lamm på en stor äng?
17 Efraim är i förbund med avgudar
– låt honom vara!
18 Deras drickande går överstyr[e],
hejdlöst begår de otukt.
Landets sköldar[f] älskar
skamliga ting.
19 (N) Men en stormvind ska gripa dem
med sina vingar,
och de ska få skämmas
med sina offer.

The Charge Against Israel
4 Hear the word of the Lord, you Israelites,
because the Lord has a charge(A) to bring
against you who live in the land:(B)
“There is no faithfulness,(C) no love,
no acknowledgment(D) of God in the land.(E)
2 There is only cursing,[a] lying(F) and murder,(G)
stealing(H) and adultery;(I)
they break all bounds,
and bloodshed follows bloodshed.(J)
3 Because of this the land dries up,(K)
and all who live in it waste away;(L)
the beasts of the field, the birds in the sky
and the fish in the sea are swept away.(M)
4 “But let no one bring a charge,
let no one accuse another,
for your people are like those
who bring charges against a priest.(N)
5 You stumble(O) day and night,
and the prophets stumble with you.
So I will destroy your mother(P)—
6 my people are destroyed from lack of knowledge.(Q)
“Because you have rejected knowledge,
I also reject you as my priests;
because you have ignored the law(R) of your God,
I also will ignore your children.
7 The more priests there were,
the more they sinned against me;
they exchanged their glorious God[b](S) for something disgraceful.(T)
8 They feed on the sins of my people
and relish their wickedness.(U)
9 And it will be: Like people, like priests.(V)
I will punish both of them for their ways
and repay them for their deeds.(W)
10 “They will eat but not have enough;(X)
they will engage in prostitution(Y) but not flourish,
because they have deserted(Z) the Lord
to give themselves 11 to prostitution;(AA)
old wine(AB) and new wine
take away their understanding.(AC)
12 My people consult a wooden idol,(AD)
and a diviner’s rod speaks to them.(AE)
A spirit of prostitution(AF) leads them astray;(AG)
they are unfaithful(AH) to their God.
13 They sacrifice on the mountaintops
and burn offerings on the hills,
under oak,(AI) poplar and terebinth,
where the shade is pleasant.(AJ)
Therefore your daughters turn to prostitution(AK)
and your daughters-in-law to adultery.(AL)
14 “I will not punish your daughters
when they turn to prostitution,
nor your daughters-in-law
when they commit adultery,
because the men themselves consort with harlots(AM)
and sacrifice with shrine prostitutes(AN)—
a people without understanding(AO) will come to ruin!(AP)
15 “Though you, Israel, commit adultery,
do not let Judah become guilty.
“Do not go to Gilgal;(AQ)
do not go up to Beth Aven.[c](AR)
And do not swear, ‘As surely as the Lord lives!’(AS)
16 The Israelites are stubborn,(AT)
like a stubborn heifer.(AU)
How then can the Lord pasture them
like lambs(AV) in a meadow?
17 Ephraim is joined to idols;
leave him alone!
18 Even when their drinks are gone,
they continue their prostitution;
their rulers dearly love shameful ways.
19 A whirlwind(AW) will sweep them away,
and their sacrifices will bring them shame.(AX)

4 Hear the word of the Lord, ye children of Israel: for the Lord hath a controversy with the inhabitants of the land, because there is no truth, nor mercy, nor knowledge of God in the land.
2 By swearing, and lying, and killing, and stealing, and committing adultery, they break out, and blood toucheth blood.
3 Therefore shall the land mourn, and every one that dwelleth therein shall languish, with the beasts of the field, and with the fowls of heaven; yea, the fishes of the sea also shall be taken away.
4 Yet let no man strive, nor reprove another: for thy people are as they that strive with the priest.
5 Therefore shalt thou fall in the day, and the prophet also shall fall with thee in the night, and I will destroy thy mother.
6 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.
7 As they were increased, so they sinned against me: therefore will I change their glory into shame.
8 They eat up the sin of my people, and they set their heart on their iniquity.
9 And there shall be, like people, like priest: and I will punish them for their ways, and reward them their doings.
10 For they shall eat, and not have enough: they shall commit whoredom, and shall not increase: because they have left off to take heed to the Lord.
11 Whoredom and wine and new wine take away the heart.
12 My people ask counsel at their stocks, and their staff declareth unto them: for the spirit of whoredoms hath caused them to err, and they have gone a whoring from under their God.
13 They sacrifice upon the tops of the mountains, and burn incense upon the hills, under oaks and poplars and elms, because the shadow thereof is good: therefore your daughters shall commit whoredom, and your spouses shall commit adultery.
14 I will not punish your daughters when they commit whoredom, nor your spouses when they commit adultery: for themselves are separated with whores, and they sacrifice with harlots: therefore the people that doth not understand shall fall.
15 Though thou, Israel, play the harlot, yet let not Judah offend; and come not ye unto Gilgal, neither go ye up to Bethaven, nor swear, The Lord liveth.
16 For Israel slideth back as a backsliding heifer: now the Lord will feed them as a lamb in a large place.
17 Ephraim is joined to idols: let him alone.
18 Their drink is sour: they have committed whoredom continually: her rulers with shame do love, Give ye.
19 The wind hath bound her up in her wings, and they shall be ashamed because of their sacrifices.
