You Have Sinned, O Israel
10 Israel is a [a]luxuriant (A)vine;
He produces fruit for himself.
The more abundant his fruit,
The more altars he (B)abounded;
The better his land,
The better [b]he made the sacred (C)pillars.
2 Their heart is [c](D)faithless;
Now they must bear their (E)guilt.
[d]Yahweh will (F)break down their altars
And destroy their sacred pillars.
3 Surely now they will say, “We have (G)no king,
For we do not fear Yahweh.
As for the king, what can he do for us?”
4 They speak mere words;
[e]With (H)worthless oaths they cut covenants;
And (I)judgment flourishes like gall in the furrows of the field.
5 The dweller of Samaria will fear
For the [f](J)calf of (K)Beth-aven.
Indeed, its people will mourn for it,
And its (L)idolatrous priests [g]will cry out over it,
Over its (M)glory, since it has gone into exile from them.
6 The thing itself will be carried to (N)Assyria
As tribute to [h](O)King Jareb;
Ephraim will (P)receive shame,
And Israel will be ashamed of its (Q)own counsel.
7 Samaria will be (R)ruined with her king
Like a stick on the surface of the water.
8 Also the (S)high places of Aven, the (T)sin of Israel, will be [i]eradicated;
(U)Thorn and thistle will grow on their altars;
Then they will (V)say to the mountains,
“Cover us!” And to the hills, “Fall on us!”
9 From the days of Gibeah you have sinned, O Israel;
There they stand!
Will not the battle against the sons of injustice overtake them in Gibeah?
10 When it is My (W)desire, I will [j](X)chastise them;
And (Y)the peoples will be gathered against them
When they are bound for their double guilt.
The Trained Heifer
11 And Ephraim is a trained (Z)heifer that loves to thresh,
But I will (AA)come over her fair neck with a yoke;
I will harness Ephraim;
Judah will plow; Jacob will harrow for himself.
12 (AB)Sow with a view to righteousness,
Reap in accordance with lovingkindness;
(AC)Break up your fallow ground,
Indeed, it is time to (AD)seek Yahweh
Until He (AE)comes and [k](AF)rains righteousness on you.
13 You have (AG)plowed wickedness; you have reaped injustice;
You have eaten the fruit of (AH)deception.
Because you have trusted in your way, in your (AI)abundant warriors,
14 Therefore a rumbling will arise among your people,
And all your (AJ)fortifications will be destroyed,
As Shalman destroyed Beth-arbel on the day of battle,
When (AK)mothers were dashed in pieces with their children.
15 Thus it will be done to you at Bethel because of your evil of evils.
At dawn the king of Israel will be completely ruined.

10 Israel parra vacía, ¿ha de hacer fruto para sí? Conforme a la multiplicación de su fruto multiplicó altares, conforme a la bondad de su tierra mejoraron sus estatuas.
2 Se apartó su corazón. Ahora serán hallados culpables; él quebrantará sus altares, asolará sus estatuas.
3 Porque dirán ahora: No tenemos rey, porque no temimos al SEÑOR: ¿y el rey qué nos hará?
4 Han hablado palabras jurando en vano al hacer alianza; por tanto, el juicio florecerá como ajenjo en los surcos del campo.
5 Por las becerras de Bet-avén serán atemorizados los moradores de Samaria; porque su pueblo lamentará a causa del becerro, y sus religiosos que en él se regocijaban por su gloria, la cual será disipada.
6 Y aun será él llevado a Asiria en presente al rey de Jareb; Efraín será avergonzado, e Israel será confuso de su consejo.
7 De Samaria fue cortado su rey como la espuma sobre la superficie de las aguas.
8 Y los altares de Avén serán destruidos, el pecado de Israel; crecerá sobre sus altares espino y cardo. Y dirán a los montes: Cubridnos; y a los collados: Caed sobre nosotros.
9 Desde los días de Gabaa has pecado, oh Israel; allí estuvieron; no los tomó la batalla en Gabaa contra los inicuos.
10 Y los castigaré como deseo; y pueblos se juntarán sobre ellos cuando sean atados en sus dos surcos.
11 Efraín es becerra domada, amadora del trillar; mas yo pasaré sobre su lozana cerviz; yo haré halar a Efraín; arará Judá, quebrará sus terrones Jacob.
12 Sembrad vosotros mismos para justicia, segad vosotros mismos para misericordia; arad vuestro barbecho; porque es el tiempo de buscar al SEÑOR, hasta que venga y os enseñe justicia.
13 Habéis arado impiedad, segasteis iniquidad; comeréis fruto de mentira; porque confiaste en tu camino, y en la multitud de tus fuertes.
14 Por tanto, en tus pueblos se levantará alboroto, y todas tus fortalezas serán destruidas, como destruyó Salmán a Bet-arbel el día de la batalla; la madre fue arrojada sobre los hijos.
15 Así hará a vosotros Bet-el por la maldad de vuestra maldad; en la mañana será del todo cortado el rey de Israel.

Israel’s Sin and Captivity
10 Israel (A)empties his vine;
He brings forth fruit for himself.
According to the multitude of his fruit
(B)He has increased the altars;
According to the bounty of his land
They have embellished his sacred pillars.
2 Their heart is (C)divided;[a]
Now they are held guilty.
He will break down their altars;
He will ruin their sacred pillars.
3 For now they say,
“We have no king,
Because we did not fear the Lord.
And as for a king, what would he do for us?”
4 They have spoken words,
Swearing falsely in making a covenant.
Thus judgment springs up (D)like hemlock in the furrows of the field.
5 The inhabitants of Samaria fear
Because of the (E)calf[b] of Beth Aven.
For its people mourn for it,
And [c]its priests shriek for it—
Because its (F)glory has departed from it.
6 The idol also shall be carried to Assyria
As a present for King (G)Jareb.
Ephraim shall receive shame,
And Israel shall be ashamed of his own counsel.
7 As for Samaria, her king is cut off
Like a twig on the water.
8 Also the (H)high places of [d]Aven, (I)the sin of Israel,
Shall be destroyed.
The thorn and thistle shall grow on their altars;
(J)They shall say to the mountains, “Cover us!”
And to the hills, “Fall on us!”
9 “O Israel, you have sinned from the days of (K)Gibeah;
There they stood.
The (L)battle in Gibeah against the children of [e]iniquity
Did not [f]overtake them.
10 When it is My desire, I will chasten them.
(M)Peoples shall be gathered against them
When I bind them [g]for their two transgressions.
11 Ephraim is (N)a trained heifer
That loves to thresh grain;
But I harnessed her fair neck,
I will make Ephraim [h]pull a plow.
Judah shall plow;
Jacob shall break his clods.”
12 Sow for yourselves righteousness;
Reap in mercy;
(O)Break up your fallow ground,
For it is time to seek the Lord,
Till He (P)comes and rains righteousness on you.
13 (Q)You have plowed wickedness;
You have reaped iniquity.
You have eaten the fruit of lies,
Because you trusted in your own way,
In the multitude of your mighty men.
14 Therefore tumult shall arise among your people,
And all your fortresses shall be plundered
As Shalman plundered Beth Arbel in the day of battle—
A mother dashed in pieces upon her children.
15 Thus it shall be done to you, O Bethel,
Because of your great wickedness.
At dawn the king of Israel
Shall be cut off utterly.

10 Y-sơ-ra-ên là một cây nho sum suê,
Sinh trái tốt tươi.
Trái càng sai,
Nó càng lập nhiều bàn thờ.
Đất nước càng hưng thịnh,
Trụ thờ càng đẹp.
2 Lòng chúng giả dối,
Giờ đây chúng phải chịu trừng phạt.
CHÚA sẽ đập bể bàn thờ,
Hủy phá trụ thờ của chúng.
3 Bấy giờ, chúng sẽ nói:
“Chúng ta không có vua,
Vì chúng ta không kính sợ CHÚA.
Nhưng nếu có một vua chăng nữa, thì vua làm được gì cho chúng ta?”
4 Chúng nói chuyện tầm phào,
Thề nguyện giả dối
Khi kết ước,
Vì thế sự công bình biến thành cỏ độc,
Mọc giữa luống cày trong đồng ruộng.
5 Dân Sa-ma-ri sẽ lo sợ
Cho bò con ở Bết A-ven;
Dân chúng và các thầy cúng đã từng vui mừng vì bò con,
Sẽ để tang khóc lóc vì sự vinh hiển đã rời khỏi bò con.
6 Chính bò con cũng sẽ bị đem qua A-si-ri,
Triều cống cho đại đế nước này.
Ép-ra-im sẽ xấu hổ,
Y-sơ-ra-ên sẽ nhục nhã vì thần tượng mình.
7 Vua Sa-ma-ri sẽ bị cắt bỏ,
Như cành cây trên mặt nước.
8 Các bàn thờ tại A-ven, là tội lỗi của Y-sơ-ra-ên,
Sẽ bị phá hủy.
Gai gốc và chà chuôm
Sẽ mọc đầy các nơi ấy.
Dân chúng sẽ kêu gọi núi đồi:
“Hãy đổ xuống, che phủ chúng ta!”

9 “Y-sơ-ra-ên, ngươi đã phạm tội từ những ngày ở Ghi-bê-a;
Chúng vẫn còn đứng nguyên tại đó.
Lẽ nào chúng không bị chiến tranh tàn phá
Như bọn hung ác tại Ghi-bê-a?
10 Ta trừng trị chúng khi Ta muốn.
Các dân khác sẽ tập hợp lại
Đánh và xiềng chúng nó vì tội chúng tăng gấp đôi.[a]
11 Ép-ra-im là bò cái tơ thuần thục,
Thích đạp lúa.
Nhưng Ta sẽ tra ách vào cái cổ đẹp của nó
Khiến Ép-ra-im phải kéo.
Giu-đa phải cày,
Gia-cốp phải tự bừa.
12 Hãy gieo sự công bình;
Hãy gặt tình yêu thương;
Và hãy vỡ đất hoang;
Vì đây là thì giờ tìm kiếm CHÚA,
Cho đến khi Ngài ngự đến
Và tuôn đổ sự công chính trên các ngươi.
13 Các ngươi đã cày sự gian ác,
Gặt sự bất công,
Ăn trái dối gạt.
Vì ngươi đã tin cậy vào đường lối của mình,
Và số quân mạnh mẽ đông đảo,
14 Cho nên dân chúng sẽ náo loạn vì chiến tranh,
Mọi đồn lũy của ngươi sẽ bị hủy diệt,
Như khi vua Sanh-man tàn phá Bết Ạt-bên,
Trong cuộc chiến mà các bà mẹ lẫn con cái đều bị ném vào đá, chết tan xác.
15 Bê-tên, điều này cũng sẽ xảy đến cho các ngươi,
Vì tội ác các ngươi quá nặng.
Vừa lúc hừng đông, vua Y-sơ-ra-ên sẽ bị diệt trừ.
