King James Version

⁵The king answered and said to the Chaldeans, The thing is gone from me: if ye will not make known unto me the dream, with the interpretation thereof, ye shall be cut in pieces, and your houses shall be made a dunghill.

⁶But if ye shew the dream, and the interpretation thereof, ye shall receive of me gifts and rewards and great honour: therefore shew me the dream, and the interpretation thereof.

⁷They answered again and said, Let the king tell his servants the dream, and we will shew the interpretation of it.

⁵The king replied to the astrologers, “This is what I have firmly decided:^(A) If you do not tell me what my dream was and interpret it, I will have you cut into pieces^(B) and your houses turned into piles of rubble.^(C) ⁶But if you tell me the dream and explain it, you will receive from me gifts and rewards and great honor.^(D) So tell me the dream and interpret it for me.”

⁷Once more they replied, “Let the king tell his servants the dream, and we will interpret it.”
