尼布甲尼撒王向住在全地的各国、各族和说各种语言的人宣告说:“愿你们大享平安! 我乐意把至高的 神向我所行的神迹奇事宣扬出来。

他的神迹多么伟大,

他的奇事多么有力;

他的国是永远的国,

他的统治直到万代!(本章第1~3节在《马索拉文本》为3:31~33)

“我尼布甲尼撒安逸地住在家中,在宫里享受荣华富贵。(本节在《马索拉文本》为4:1) 我作了一个梦,这梦使我惧怕;我在床上所见的梦幻和我脑海中出现的异象,都使我惊惶。 我就下令把巴比伦所有的智慧人,都带到我面前来,要他们把梦的意思向我说明。 于是术士、用法术的、迦勒底人和占星家都进来;我当面把那梦告诉了他们,可是他们却不能把梦的意思向我说明。

把梦告诉但以理

“最后,那照着我神的名,称为伯提沙撒的但以理,来到我面前,他里面有圣神的灵,我就把梦告诉他: ‘术士的领袖伯提沙撒啊!因为我知道你里面有圣神的灵,没有甚么隐秘的事能难倒你;因此,你要把我梦中所见的异象和梦的意思告诉我。 10 我躺在床上时脑海中所见的异象是这样:

我看见大地中间,

有一棵树,十分高大。

11 那树渐长,而且坚强,

高达于天,

地极所有的人都看得到。

12 它的叶子美丽,果实繁多,

所有的生物都从它得到食物;

野地的走兽在它下面歇息,

空中的飞鸟栖宿在它的枝头上;

各种生物都从它得着供养。

13 “‘我躺在床上,在我脑海出现的异象中,我看见有一位守望者,就是圣者,从天上下来, 14 大声呼叫,这样说:

你们要砍下这树,削断枝子,

摇落叶子,打散果子,

把树下的走兽赶散,

把树枝上的飞鸟赶走。

15 然而,树根的余干却要留在地上,

用铁和铜的链子围住,

留在野地的青草中,

使他被天露滴湿;

使他像走兽一样在地上的草丛中得他的分。

16 使他的心改变,不再是人的心,

给他一个兽心,

使他经过七年的时期。

17 这是守望者宣告的裁决,

是圣者颁布的决定,

好使世人都知道:

至高者在世人的国中掌权,

他喜欢把国赐给谁,就赐给谁,

甚至立最卑微的人执掌国权。

18 “‘这就是我尼布甲尼撒王所作的梦。伯提沙撒啊!你要把这梦的意思告诉我,因为我国中所有的智慧人都不能把梦的意思向我说明;只有你能,因为你里面有圣神的灵。’”

但以理为王解梦

19 于是那称为伯提沙撒的但以理惊愕片时,他想到的事使他惊惶。王对他说:“伯提沙撒啊!别让这梦和梦的意思使你惊惶。”伯提沙撒回答说:“我主啊!愿这梦归给憎恨你的人,梦的意思归给你的敌人。 20 你所见的树渐长,而且坚强,高达于天,全地的人都看得到。 21 它的叶子美丽,果实繁多,所有的生物都从它得到食物;野地的走兽住在它下面,空中的飞鸟栖在它的枝头上。 22 王啊!你就是那树,越来越伟大坚强;你的威势渐长,高达于天;你的权柄直到地极。 23 王既然看见一位守望者,就是圣者,从天上下来,说:‘你们要砍下毁坏这树,树根的余干却要留在地上,用铁和铜的链子围住,留在野地的青草中,使他被天露滴湿;使他的分和野地的走兽一样,直到他经过那七年的时期。’ 24 王啊!梦的意思就是这样:这临到我主我王的事,是至高者的裁决。 25 你必被赶逐,离开人群,和野地的走兽同住;你必像牛一样吃草,被天露滴湿,要经过七年的时期;等到你承认至高者在世人的国中掌权,他喜欢把国赐给谁,就赐给谁。 26 守望者既然吩咐要留下树根的余干,所以,等到你承认上天的至高者是掌权的,你的国就必再归给你。 27 因此,王啊!请你接纳我的劝告,施行公义,断绝罪过,怜悯受欺压者,断绝罪孽,你的平安或者可以延长。”

梦境应验

28 这一切事都在尼布甲尼撒王身上实现了。 29 过了十二个月,王在巴比伦王宫的平顶上散步的时候, 30 他说:“这大巴比伦城不是我用大能大力建造作我的京都,为显我威严的荣耀吗?” 31 这话在王的口中还没有说完,就有声音从天上传下来,说:“尼布甲尼撒王啊!有话对你说:你的王权被褫夺了。 32 你必被赶逐,离开人群,和野地的走兽同住;你必像牛一样吃草,要经过七年的时期;等到你承认至高者在世人的国中掌权,他喜欢把国赐给谁,就赐给谁。” 33 这话立刻就应验在尼布甲尼撒身上;他被赶逐,离开人群,像牛一样吃草,身体被天露滴湿,直到他的头发长得像鹰毛,指甲像鸟爪。

34 “七年的日子满了,我尼布甲尼撒举目望天,我的理智恢复过来,我就称颂至高者,赞美尊崇活到永远的 神。

他的统治永无穷尽,

他的国度直到万代。

35 地上所有的居民,在他来说都是虚无;

在天上的万军中,他凭自己的意旨行事;

在地上的居民中,也是这样;

没有人能拦住他的手,

或问他说:‘你作甚么?’

36 “那时,我的理智恢复过来后,为着我国的光荣,我的威严和光辉也都恢复过来了。我的谋臣和官员仍来求见我,我的王权重新坚立,我的权势越发增加。 37 现在我尼布甲尼撒赞美、尊崇、荣耀天上的王,因为他所作的一切都正确,他所行的也都公平;行为骄傲的,他都能贬低。”

Nevuchadnetzar the king, unto all people, nations and languages, that dwell in all the earth; Shalom aleichem l’machbir (Peace be multiplied unto you).

(3:32) I thought it good to show the otot (signs) and mofetim (wonders) that El Elyon hath wrought toward me.

(3:33) How great are His otot (signs)! And how mighty are His mofetim (wonders)! His kingdom is a malchut olam (everlasting kingdom), and His dominion is from dor v’dor (generation to generation).

(4:1) I, Nevuchadnetzar, was at rest in mine bais, and prospering in my heikhal (palace).

(4:2) I saw a chalom (dream) which made me afraid, and the thoughts upon my bed and the chazonot (visions) of my head troubled me.

(4:3) Therefore made I a decree to bring in all the chachamim of Babylon before me, that they might give me da’as of the pesher (interpretation, explanation) of the chalom (dream).

(4:4) Then came in the magicians, the enchanters, the Kasdim (Chaldeans), and the soothsayers; and I told the chalom (dream) before them; but they did not make known unto me the pesher thereof.

(4:5) But at the last Daniel came in before me, whose name was Beltshatzar, according to hashem of my G-d, and in whom is the Ruach Elohin Kadishin (Ruach Elohim HaKadosh); and before him I told the chalom (dream), saying,

(4:6) O Beltshatzar, chief of the magicians, because I know that the Ruach Elohin Kadishin (Ruach Elohim HaKadosh) is in thee, and no raz (secret, mystery) troubleth thee, tell me the visions of my chalom (dream) that I have seen, and the pesher thereof.

10 (4:7) Thus were the chazonot of mine head in my bed; I was looking, and hinei, an etz (tree) in the midst of the earth, and the height thereof was great.

11 (4:8) The etz grew, and was strong, and the height thereof reached unto Shomayim, and visibility thereof extended to the end of kol ha’aretz;

12 (4:9) The leaves thereof were lovely, and the p’ri thereof abundant, and in it was food for all; the beasts of the field found shade under it, and the fowls of the heaven dwelt in the boughs thereof, and kol basar was fed of it.

13 (4:10) I saw in the chazonot of my head upon my bed, and, hinei, an ir (watcher, messenger), a malach hakodesh, came down from Shomayim.

14 (4:11) He cried with strength, and said thus, Chop down the tree, and cut off his branches, strip off his leaves, and scatter his p’ri; let the beasts get away from under it, and the fowls from his branches.

15 (4:12) Nevertheless leave the stump of his roots in the earth, even with a band of iron and bronze, in the tender grass of the field; and let it be wet with the dew of heaven, and let him partake with the beasts in the grass of ha’aretz;

16 (4:13) Let his lev (heart) be changed from man’s, and let a beast’s lev be given unto him; and let seven times (seasons, years) pass over him.

17 (4:14) This matter is by the decree of the irin (watchers), and the demand by the word of the Kadoshim (holy ones), to the intent that the living may have da’as that Elyon (Most High) ruleth in the malchut haAdam, and giveth it to whomsoever He will, and setteth up over it the basest of men.

18 (4:15) This chalom (dream) I, king Nevuchadnetzar, have seen. Now thou, O Beltshatzar, declare the pesher (interpretation, explanation) thereof, forasmuch as all the chachamim of my malchut are not able to make known unto me the pesher (interpretation, explanation); but thou art able; for the Ruach Elohin Kadishin (Ruach Elohim HaKadosh) is in thee.

19 (4:16) Then Daniel, whose name was Beltshatzar, was perplexed for a time, and his thoughts troubled him. The king spoke, and said, Beltshatzar, let not the chalom (dream), or the pesher (interpretation, explanation) thereof, trouble thee. Beltshatzar answered and said, Mari (my master), if only the chalom (dream) concerned them that hate thee, and the pesher (interpretation, explanation) thereof thine enemies.

20 (4:17) The etz that thou sawest, which grew, and was strong, whose height reached unto Shomayim, and the visibility thereof extended to kol ha’aretz;

21 (4:18) Whose leaves were lovely, and the p’ri thereof abundant, and in it was food for all; under which the beasts of the field dwelt, and upon whose branches the fowls of heaven had their habitation;

22 (4:19) It is thou, O king, that art grown and become strong; for thy greatness is grown, and reacheth unto Shomayim, and thy dominion to the end of ha’aretz.

23 (4:20) And whereas the king saw an ir (watcher), a malach hakodesh, come down from Shomayim, and saying, Chop the etz down, and destroy it; yet leave the stump of the roots thereof in the earth, even with a band of iron and bronze, in the tender grass of the field; and let it be wet with the dew of heaven, and let him partake with the beasts of the field, till seven times (seasons, years) pass over him.

24 (4:21) This is the pesher (interpretation, explanation), O king, and this is the decree of Elyon (Most High), which is come upon mari (my master) the king;

25 (4:22) That they shall drive thee from anashim, and thy dwelling shall be with the beasts of the field, and they shall make thee to eat grass as oxen, and they shall wet thee with the dew of heaven, and seven times (seasons, years) shall pass over thee, till thou have da’as that Elyon (Most High) ruleth in the malchut haAdam, and giveth it to whomsoever He will.

26 (4:23) And whereas they commanded to leave the stump of the etz with its roots, thy malchut shall be assured unto thee, after that thou shalt have da’as that Shomayim (G-d) does rule.

27 (4:24) Wherefore, O king, let my counsel be acceptable unto thee, and break off thy sins by tzedek (righteousness), and thine iniquities by showing mercy to the poor; if it may be a prolonging of thy tranquillity.

28 (4:25) All this came upon the king Nevuchadnetzar.

29 (4:26) At the end of twelve months he walked about the heikhal of the malchut of Babylon.

30 (4:27) The melech spoke, and said, Is not this great Babylon, that I have built for a royal dwelling by the might of my power, and for the honor of my majesty?

31 (4:28) While the word was in the king’s mouth, there fell a voice from Shomayim, saying, O king Nevuchadnetzar, to thee it is spoken: The malchut has been taken from thee.

32 (4:29) And they shall drive thee from anashim, and thy dwelling shall be with the beasts of the field; they shall make thee to eat grass as oxen, and seven times (seasons, years) shall pass over thee, until thou have da’as that Elyon ruleth in the malchut haAdam, and giveth it to whomsoever He will.

33 (4:30) The same hour was the thing fulfilled upon Nevuchadnetzar, and he was driven from anashim, and did eat grass as oxen, and his body was wet with the dew of heaven, till his hair had grown like eagles’ feathers, and his nails like birds’ claws.

34 (4:31) And at the end of the time, I, Nevuchadnetzar, lifted up mine eyes unto Shomayim, and mine da’as returned unto me, and I said Baruch El Elyon, and I praised and honored Him that liveth forever, Whose dominion is an everlasting dominion, and His Malchut is from dor v’dor;

35 (4:32) And all the inhabitants of ha’aretz are considered as nothing, and He doeth according to His will in the Tzivos HaShomayim, and among the inhabitants of ha’aretz; and none can restrain His hand, or say unto Him, What doest Thou?

36 (4:33) At the same time my da’as returned unto me; and for the kavod of my malchut, mine honor and splendor returned unto me; and my counselors and my nobles sought unto me; and I was established in my malchut, and excellent majesty was added unto me.

37 (4:34) Now I Nevuchadnetzar praise and extol and honor the Melech HaShomayim, all Whose works are emes, and His ways mishpat; and those that walk in ga’avah (pride) He is able to abase.

One day King Nebuchadnezzar sent out a herald with a message for all the peoples, nations, and languages of the earth.

Message: May peace and prosperity be yours!

I am pleased to be able to tell you about all the signs and miracles the Most High God has done for me.

    How great are His signs;
        how powerful are His miracles!
    His kingdom will endure forever;
        His reign will last from generation to generation.

I, Nebuchadnezzar, was at home in my palace; things were going well, and I was prospering. Then one night I had a dream that terrified me. As I rested that night on my bed, the images in my mind—the visions in my head—disturbed me greatly, and I could not shake the fear. So I ordered my servants to gather all the wise men of Babylon and bring them before me in order to tell me what this dream might mean. So they came: magicians, enchanters, Chaldean astrologers, and diviners. And though I told them the dream, they could not tell me its meaning. Finally, Daniel came before me. This man had been given the Babylonian name Belteshazzar after the name of my own god, Bel, and it certainly seems the spirit of the holy gods is with him. I told him my dream:

“Belteshazzar, chief of the magicians, it is clear to me that the spirit of the holy gods is with you and no mystery is too difficult for you to figure out. Listen to my dream, then tell me what it means. 10 Here is the vision I saw as I lay upon my bed:

    “A tree stood in the middle of the land;
        it was huge, rising high in the sky.
11     The tree grew tall and strong,
        and it reached right up to the top of the sky.
    It was so large that it could be seen
        from one end of the earth to the other.
12     It had beautiful leaves and plenty of fruit.
        In fact, it provided sustenance for everyone.
    Wild animals came and rested in its cool shade.
        Birds flew in and built nests on its sturdy branches.
        Every living creature plucked its fruit and was satisfied.

13 But that was not all. The visions kept coming as I lay there on my bed, and I saw a heavenly messenger, a holy watcher coming down from heaven. 14 He shouted out orders regarding the tree.

    “‘Cut down the tree, and lop off its branches.
        Strip off its leaves, and scatter its fruit.
    Let all the wild animals beneath it run away
        and all the birds on its branches fly away.
15     But leave its stump intact,
        its roots in the ground,
    Strapped down with iron and bronze,
        surrounded by the tender grass of the field.
    Let the dew of heaven fall heavy on it every night and make it wet,
        and let him live off the plants of the earth among the wild animals.
16     Let his human heart be changed, exchanged for the heart of a wild animal
        until seven times have come and gone.
17     The verdict comes down as the watchers decreed;
        the sentence is passed by order of the holy ones
    So that all who live on the earth
        may know that the Most High God is the true sovereign over all kingdoms of the earth;
    He grants authority to anyone He wishes
        and installs the lowliest of people into positions of power.’

(to Daniel) 18 “This is the dream I, King Nebuchadnezzar, dreamed, the vision I saw. None of the other sages and wise men in my kingdom are able to tell me what it means. But I believe you, Belteshazzar, can because the spirit of the holy gods is with you and you have a special gift. Now tell me what it means.”

19 As the interpretation of the king’s dream became clear, Daniel (who was also called Belteshazzar) became visibly upset for a while. His thoughts troubled him. The king noticed, and he spoke to Daniel.

Nebuchadnezzar: Belteshazzar, don’t let my dream or its meaning alarm you. Tell me what you know.

Belteshazzar: My lord, I wish the dream described those who hate you and its meaning concerned the fate of your enemies! 20 The tree you saw in your vision, the one which grew tall and strong so that its top reached up to the sky and could be seen from one end of the earth to the other, 21 the tree whose leaves were beautiful and fruit plentiful and provided sustenance for everyone, the tree under which the wild animals came to rest in the cool shade and in which the birds built their nests on its sturdy branches— 22 that tree is you, O king! You have become great and strong. Your greatness has grown tall and reached the sky; your authority and power extend to the end of the earth. 23 But that is just one part of your dream. The king saw the messenger, the holy watcher of heaven come down from heaven and declare, “Cut down the tree, and destroy it, but leave its stump intact, its roots in the ground, strapped down with iron and bronze, surrounded by the tender grass of the field; let the dew of heaven fall heavy on it every night and make it wet, and let him live among the wild animals off the plants of the earth, until seven times have come and gone.” 24 Here is the interpretation, O king. It is a decree the Most High God has issued against you, my lord and king. 25 You will be driven away from all that is human and live in the company of wild animals; you will be forced to eat grass like oxen, and night after night the dew of heaven will fall on you and make you soaking wet. Seven times will pass until you learn your lesson and acknowledge that it is the Most High God, and no other, who is the true sovereign over all kingdoms on earth, and He grants authority to anyone He wishes. 26 The watcher’s order to leave the stump and roots of the tree intact means that your kingdom will be restored to you when, and only when, you acknowledge that Heaven alone is sovereign over the earth. 27 So, O king, please accept my advice to you. Make a clean break with your sins and invest in what is right. Bring an end to your wicked deeds and show mercy to those you have beaten down. If you do, perhaps your future will be different and your prosperity will continue.

28 But King Nebuchadnezzar forgot Daniel’s advice, so everything Daniel had predicted happened. 29 Twelve months later, as the king was strolling across the roof of his royal palace in Babylon, 30 the king uttered foolish words:

Nebuchadnezzar: Isn’t Babylon a great city? I have built this royal residence from the ground up with my own might and ingenuity to honor my own majesty.

31 The words had scarcely left his lips when another voice thundered from heaven.

Voice: King Nebuchadnezzar, these solemn words are for you. The kingdom has been taken away from you. 32 You will be driven away from all that is human, and you will live in the company of wild animals. You will be forced to eat grass like oxen. Seven times will pass until you learn your lesson and acknowledge that it is the Most High God, and no other, who is the true sovereign over all kingdoms on earth, and He grants authority to anyone He wishes.

33 Instantly the heavenly decree against Nebuchadnezzar was fulfilled. He was driven away from all that is human and began to eat grass as oxen do. The dew of heaven fell and drenched his body. In time his hair grew as long as the feathers on an eagle and his nails grew long and curved back on his hand like the claws of a bird.

Message: 34 When these days of exile came to an end, I, Nebuchadnezzar, looked up toward heaven and came to my senses. I blessed the Most High God and praised and gave glory to the One who lives eternally:

    “His reign will endure forever;
        His kingdom will last from generation to generation.
35     Among all the people of the earth,
        there are none who compare.
    He does as He wishes with the armies of heaven
        and those who live on earth.
    No one can stop His hand from acting;
        no one dares to ask, ‘What have You done?’”

36 It was in that moment that I came to my senses. Soon my honor and splendor were restored as Daniel predicted, and the former glory of my kingdom returned. Those who had served me before, my advisors and officials, sought me and returned me to the throne of Babylon. In time my kingdom and power grew even greater than it was before. 37 Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, acknowledge the true King of heaven. I praise, lift up, and glorify Him because all He does is true, all His ways are just, and He is able to cut down those who strut about in their pride.

Nebuchadnezzar’s Dream of a Tree

[a]King Nebuchadnezzar,

To the nations and peoples of every language,(A) who live in all the earth:

May you prosper greatly!(B)

It is my pleasure to tell you about the miraculous signs(C) and wonders that the Most High God(D) has performed for me.

How great are his signs,
    how mighty his wonders!(E)
His kingdom is an eternal kingdom;
    his dominion endures(F) from generation to generation.

I, Nebuchadnezzar, was at home in my palace, contented(G) and prosperous. I had a dream(H) that made me afraid. As I was lying in bed,(I) the images and visions that passed through my mind(J) terrified me.(K) So I commanded that all the wise men of Babylon be brought before me to interpret(L) the dream for me. When the magicians,(M) enchanters, astrologers[b] and diviners(N) came, I told them the dream, but they could not interpret it for me.(O) Finally, Daniel came into my presence and I told him the dream. (He is called Belteshazzar,(P) after the name of my god, and the spirit of the holy gods(Q) is in him.)

I said, “Belteshazzar, chief(R) of the magicians, I know that the spirit of the holy gods(S) is in you, and no mystery is too difficult for you. Here is my dream; interpret it for me. 10 These are the visions I saw while lying in bed:(T) I looked, and there before me stood a tree in the middle of the land. Its height was enormous.(U) 11 The tree grew large and strong and its top touched the sky; it was visible to the ends of the earth.(V) 12 Its leaves were beautiful, its fruit abundant, and on it was food for all. Under it the wild animals found shelter, and the birds lived in its branches;(W) from it every creature was fed.

13 “In the visions I saw while lying in bed,(X) I looked, and there before me was a holy one,(Y) a messenger,[c] coming down from heaven. 14 He called in a loud voice: ‘Cut down the tree(Z) and trim off its branches; strip off its leaves and scatter its fruit. Let the animals flee from under it and the birds from its branches.(AA) 15 But let the stump and its roots, bound with iron and bronze, remain in the ground, in the grass of the field.

“‘Let him be drenched with the dew of heaven, and let him live with the animals among the plants of the earth. 16 Let his mind be changed from that of a man and let him be given the mind of an animal, till seven times[d] pass by for him.(AB)

17 “‘The decision is announced by messengers, the holy ones declare the verdict, so that the living may know that the Most High(AC) is sovereign(AD) over all kingdoms on earth and gives them to anyone he wishes and sets over them the lowliest(AE) of people.’

18 “This is the dream that I, King Nebuchadnezzar, had. Now, Belteshazzar, tell me what it means, for none of the wise men in my kingdom can interpret it for me.(AF) But you can,(AG) because the spirit of the holy gods(AH) is in you.”(AI)

Daniel Interprets the Dream

19 Then Daniel (also called Belteshazzar) was greatly perplexed for a time, and his thoughts terrified(AJ) him. So the king said, “Belteshazzar, do not let the dream or its meaning alarm you.”(AK)

Belteshazzar answered, “My lord, if only the dream applied to your enemies and its meaning to your adversaries! 20 The tree you saw, which grew large and strong, with its top touching the sky, visible to the whole earth, 21 with beautiful leaves and abundant fruit, providing food for all, giving shelter to the wild animals, and having nesting places in its branches for the birds(AL) 22 Your Majesty, you are that tree!(AM) You have become great and strong; your greatness has grown until it reaches the sky, and your dominion extends to distant parts of the earth.(AN)

23 “Your Majesty saw a holy one,(AO) a messenger, coming down from heaven and saying, ‘Cut down the tree and destroy it, but leave the stump, bound with iron and bronze, in the grass of the field, while its roots remain in the ground. Let him be drenched with the dew of heaven; let him live with the wild animals, until seven times pass by for him.’(AP)

24 “This is the interpretation, Your Majesty, and this is the decree(AQ) the Most High has issued against my lord the king: 25 You will be driven away from people and will live with the wild animals; you will eat grass like the ox and be drenched(AR) with the dew of heaven. Seven times will pass by for you until you acknowledge that the Most High(AS) is sovereign over all kingdoms on earth and gives them to anyone he wishes.(AT) 26 The command to leave the stump of the tree with its roots(AU) means that your kingdom will be restored to you when you acknowledge that Heaven rules.(AV) 27 Therefore, Your Majesty, be pleased to accept my advice: Renounce your sins by doing what is right, and your wickedness by being kind to the oppressed.(AW) It may be that then your prosperity(AX) will continue.(AY)

The Dream Is Fulfilled

28 All this happened(AZ) to King Nebuchadnezzar. 29 Twelve months later, as the king was walking on the roof of the royal palace of Babylon, 30 he said, “Is not this the great Babylon I have built as the royal residence, by my mighty power and for the glory(BA) of my majesty?”(BB)

31 Even as the words were on his lips, a voice came from heaven, “This is what is decreed for you, King Nebuchadnezzar: Your royal authority has been taken from you.(BC) 32 You will be driven away from people and will live with the wild animals; you will eat grass like the ox. Seven times will pass by for you until you acknowledge that the Most High is sovereign over all kingdoms on earth and gives them to anyone he wishes.”(BD)

33 Immediately what had been said about Nebuchadnezzar was fulfilled. He was driven away from people and ate grass like the ox. His body was drenched(BE) with the dew of heaven until his hair grew like the feathers of an eagle and his nails like the claws of a bird.(BF)

34 At the end of that time, I, Nebuchadnezzar, raised my eyes toward heaven, and my sanity(BG) was restored. Then I praised the Most High; I honored and glorified him who lives forever.(BH)

His dominion is an eternal dominion;
    his kingdom(BI) endures from generation to generation.(BJ)
35 All the peoples of the earth
    are regarded as nothing.(BK)
He does as he pleases(BL)
    with the powers of heaven
    and the peoples of the earth.
No one can hold back(BM) his hand(BN)
    or say to him: “What have you done?”(BO)

36 At the same time that my sanity was restored, my honor and splendor were returned to me for the glory of my kingdom.(BP) My advisers and nobles sought me out, and I was restored to my throne and became even greater than before. 37 Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise and exalt(BQ) and glorify(BR) the King of heaven, because everything he does is right and all his ways are just.(BS) And those who walk in pride(BT) he is able to humble.(BU)
