11 “玛代人大流士元年，我去帮助、护卫米迦勒。 2 现在我要把真相告诉你。波斯将再有三位王兴起，随后的第四位王远比其他王富有。他靠财富强盛后，便会煽动众民去攻打希腊国。 3 那时必有一位英勇的王兴起，执掌大权，随心所欲。 4 但他兴起后不久，他的国必土崩瓦解，在天下一分为四，既不归他的后代统治，也不如他掌权时强盛。因为他的国必被连根拔除，归给外人。
5 “南方王必强盛，他的将领中将有一位比他更强盛，这人执掌王权，势力强大。 6 若干年后，南方王将与北方王联盟。南方王的女儿将到北方王那里缔结盟约。但她必保不住自己的势力，王权也无法长久。她和她的随从、父亲和辅佐者必遭杀害。
7 “她家族中必有一人继承王位，率军攻打北方王，侵入他们的堡垒，击败他们， 8 将他们的神像、铸造的偶像及金银宝器掳到埃及。此后数年，他不再去攻击北方王。 9 后来，北方王必侵入南方王的国土，但终必撤回本国。
10 “北方王的儿子们必发动战争，召集大军，如洪水席卷而来，直打到南方王的堡垒。 11 南方王必大怒，出来迎战北方王的大军，并击败他们。 12 南方王获胜后必心高气傲，杀戮成千上万的人，但他的胜利不能持久。 13 因为数年后，北方王必召集更庞大的军队，带着大量装备卷土重来。

18 “后来，他将转而攻打沿海地区，征服许多地方。但一位将领必制止他的嚣张气焰，使他自取其辱。 19 他将返回本国的堡垒，从此一蹶不振，销声匿迹。 20 继承他王位的人将派税吏横征暴敛，以维持王国的荣耀。但不久他必灭亡，并非死于民怨，也非死于战争。
21 “接着继位的是一个卑鄙的人。他无权继位，却乘人不备用奸计夺取王位。 22 他横扫千军，击溃他们，包括盟国的王。 23 他与人结盟后，必行欺诈，借不多的人掌握大权。 24 他必乘人不备入侵最富庶的地区，行他祖先从未行过的事，将掳掠的财物分给部下，并策划攻打堡垒，但这都是短暂的。 25 他集中力量，鼓起勇气，率领大军进攻南方王。南方王也率领强大的军队迎战，却敌不过他，因为有人暗算南方王。 26 南方王必遭亲信暗算，全军溃败，许多人被杀。 27 两个王心怀叵测，同席而坐，尔虞我诈，但都不成功，因为结局必在所定的时间到来。 28 北方王必带着大量财物回国，但他决意反对圣约，在回国的路上任意妄为。
29 “到了所定的时间，他必再次攻打南方，但结果与上次不同， 30 因为基提的战船必来攻击他，使他丧胆而回。他必向圣约之民发泄愤怒，任意妄为，支持背弃圣约的人。 31 他的军队必亵渎圣地，亵渎那堡垒，废除日常献的祭，设立带来毁灭的可憎之物。 32 他必花言巧语笼络违背圣约的人，但认识上帝的人必奋起反抗。 33 那些智者必教导许多民众，但他们将在一段时间内被刀剑杀戮，或被烧死，或被掳去，或被抢掠。 34 他们败亡时必得不到多少援助，许多人并非真心实意地加入他们的行列。 35 有些智者将被害，但这是为了熬炼、净化他们，使他们洁白无瑕，一直到末了。因为结局必在所定的时间到来。

40 “到了末后，南方王必与北方王交战。北方王必率领战车、骑兵和大批战船攻击他，又如洪水般横扫列国。 41 他必侵入佳美之地，杀死成千上万的人，只有以东、摩押及亚扪人的首领得以逃脱。 42 他必攻击列国，埃及也无法幸免。 43 他必掌管埃及的金银财宝，利比亚人和古实人必归顺他。 44 但从东方和北方传来的消息必令他震惊，他必大怒，出兵杀戮、毁灭许多人。 45 他必在海和荣美的圣山之间搭起他宫殿般的帐幕。但他必灭亡，无人相助。

2 »”Pero ahora voy a darte a conocer la verdad. Van a levantarse en Persia tres reyes más, y hasta un cuarto, el cual será más rico que los otros tres. En cuanto haya cobrado fuerza con sus riquezas, incitará a todos contra el reino griego. 3 Surgirá entonces un rey muy aguerrido, el cual gobernará con mucha fuerza y hará lo que mejor le parezca. 4 Pero, tan pronto como surja su imperio, se resquebrajará y se esparcirá hacia los cuatro vientos del cielo. Este imperio no será para sus descendientes, ni tendrá el poder que tuvo bajo su gobierno, porque Dios lo dividirá y se lo entregará a otros.
5 »”El rey del sur cobrará fuerza, pero uno de sus comandantes se hará más fuerte que él, y con alarde de poder gobernará sobre su propio imperio. 6 Pasados algunos años harán una alianza: la hija del rey del sur se casará con el rey del norte, y harán las paces, aunque ella no retendrá su poder, y el poder del rey tampoco durará. Ella será traicionada, junto con su escolta, su hijo y su esposo.
»”En esos días, 7 uno de la familia real usurpará el trono de la hija del rey del sur, y con su ejército atacará al rey del norte y la fortaleza real, saliendo victorioso de la lucha. 8 Se apoderará de las estatuas de metal de sus dioses, y de sus objetos de oro y plata, y se los llevará a Egipto, dejando tranquilo al rey del norte durante algunos años. 9 Luego el rey del norte invadirá los dominios del rey del sur, pero se verá forzado a volver a su país. 10 Les llegará a sus hijos el momento de prepararse para la guerra, y reunirán a un gran ejército que, como una inundación, avanzará arrasándolo todo hasta llegar a la fortaleza.
11 »”Enfurecido, el rey del sur marchará en contra del rey del norte, que será derrotado a pesar de contar con un gran ejército. 12 Ante el triunfo obtenido, el rey del sur se llenará de orgullo y matará a miles, pero su victoria no durará 13 porque el rey del norte reunirá a otro ejército, más numeroso y mejor armado que el anterior, y después de algunos años volverá a atacar al rey del sur.
14 »”Mira, Daniel, en aquel tiempo habrá muchos que se rebelarán contra el rey del sur, incluso gente violenta de tu pueblo, pero no saldrán victoriosos. Así se cumplirá la visión. 15 Entonces el rey del norte vendrá y levantará rampas de asalto y conquistará la ciudad fortificada, pues las fuerzas del sur no podrán resistir; ¡ni siquiera sus mejores tropas podrán ofrecer resistencia! 16 El ejército invasor hará lo que desee, pues nadie podrá hacerle frente, y se establecerá en nuestra hermosa tierra, la cual quedará bajo su dominio. 17 El rey del norte se dispondrá a atacar con todo el poder de su reino, pero hará una alianza con el rey del sur: este le dará a su hija en matrimonio, con miras a derrocar su reino, pero sus planes no tendrán el éxito esperado. 18 Dirigirá entonces sus ataques contra las ciudades costeras, y conquistará muchas de ellas, pero un general responderá a su insolencia y lo hará quedar en ridículo. 19 Después de eso, el rey del norte regresará a la fortaleza de su país, pero sufrirá un tropiezo y no volverá a saberse nada de él.
20 »”Después del rey del norte, ocupará el trono un rey que, para mantener el esplendor del reino, enviará a un recaudador de impuestos. Pero poco tiempo después ese rey perderá la vida, aunque no en el fragor de la batalla.
21 »”En su lugar reinará un hombre despreciable, indigno de ser rey, que invadirá el reino cuando la gente se sienta más segura y, recurriendo a artimañas, usurpará el trono. 22 Arrasará como una inundación a las fuerzas que se le opongan; las derrotará por completo, lo mismo que al príncipe del pacto. 23 Engañará a los que pacten con él, y con un grupo reducido usurpará el trono. 24 Cuando las provincias más ricas se sientan más seguras, las invadirá, logrando así lo que jamás lograron sus padres y abuelos. Repartirá entre sus seguidores el botín y las riquezas que haya ganado en la guerra, y hará planes para atacar las ciudades fortificadas.
»”Pero esto no durará mucho tiempo. 25 Envalentonado por su fuerza, ese hombre atacará al rey del sur con un gran ejército. Al frente de un ejército muy grande y poderoso, el rey del sur responderá al ataque; pero no podrá vencerlo, porque será traicionado. 26 Los mismos que compartían su mesa buscarán su ruina; su ejército será derrotado por completo, y muchos caerán en batalla. 27 Sentados a la misma mesa, estos dos reyes pensarán solo en hacerse daño, y se mentirán el uno al otro; pero esto de nada servirá, porque el momento del fin todavía no habrá llegado. 28 El rey del norte regresará a su país con grandes riquezas, pero antes profanará el santo templo,[a] así que llevará a cabo sus planes y luego volverá a su país.
29 »”En el momento preciso, el rey del norte volverá a invadir el sur, aunque esta vez el resultado será diferente, 30 porque los barcos de guerra de las costas occidentales se opondrán a él y le harán perder el valor. Entonces retrocederá y descargará su enojo contra el santo templo. En su retirada, se mostrará bondadoso con los que renegaron de él. 31 Sus fuerzas armadas se dedicarán a profanar la fortaleza del templo, y suspenderán el sacrificio diario, estableciendo el horrible sacrilegio. 32 Corromperá con halagos a los que hayan renegado del pacto, pero los que conozcan a su Dios se le opondrán con firmeza.
33 »”Los sabios instruirán a muchos, aunque durante algún tiempo morirán a filo de espada, o serán quemados, o se les tomará cautivos y se les despojará de todo. 34 Cuando caigan, recibirán muy poca ayuda, aunque mucha gente hipócrita se les unirá. 35 Algunos de los sabios caerán, pero esa prueba los purificará y perfeccionará, para que cuando llegue la hora final no tengan mancha alguna. Todavía falta mucho para que llegue el momento preciso.
El rey se exalta a sí mismo
36 »”El rey hará lo que mejor le parezca. Se exaltará a sí mismo, se creerá superior a todos los dioses, y dirá cosas del Dios de dioses que nadie antes se atrevió a decir. Su éxito durará mientras la ira de Dios no llegue a su colmo, aunque lo que ha de suceder sucederá. 37 Ese rey no tomará en cuenta a los dioses de sus antepasados, ni al dios que adoran las mujeres, ni a ningún otro dios, sino que se exaltará a sí mismo por encima de todos ellos. 38 En su lugar, adorará al dios de las fortalezas; honrará a un dios que sus antepasados no conocieron, y le presentará costosas ofrendas de oro, plata y piedras preciosas. 39 Con la ayuda de un dios extraño atacará las fortalezas más poderosas, y rendirá grandes honores a aquellos que lo reconozcan, pues en recompensa los pondrá como gobernadores de grandes multitudes y les dará tierras.
40 »”Cuando llegue la hora final, el rey del sur trabará combate contra el rey del norte, pero este responderá a su ataque con carros y caballos y con toda una flota de barcos de guerra. Invadirá muchos países, y los arrasará como una inundación. 41 También invadirá nuestro hermoso país, y muchos países caerán bajo su poder, aunque Edom, Moab y los jefes de Amón escaparán de sus manos. 42 Extenderá su poder sobre muchos países, y ni Egipto podrá salvarse. 43 Se adueñará de los tesoros de oro y plata de Egipto, y de todas sus riquezas, y también someterá a los libios y a los etíopes. 44 Sin embargo, le llegarán noticias alarmantes del este y del norte, y en su furor se pondrá en marcha dispuesto a destruir y matar a mucha gente. 45 Plantará su campamento real entre el mar y el bello monte santo; pero allí le llegará su fin, y nadie acudirá en su ayuda.

11 And from the first year of Darius the Mede I stood up that he might be strengthened and confirmed.
2 And now I will shew thee the truth. Behold there shall stand yet three kings in Persia, and the fourth shall be enriched exceedingly above them all: and when he shall be grown mighty by his riches, he shall stir up all against the kingdom of Greece.
3 But there shall rise up a strong king, and shall rule with great power: and he shall do what he pleaseth.
4 And when he shall come to his height, his kingdom shall be broken, and it shall be divided towards the four winds of the heaven: but not to his posterity, nor according to his power with which he ruled. For his kingdom shall be rent in pieces, even for strangers, beside these.
5 And the king of the south shall be strengthened, and one of his princes shall prevail over him, and he shall rule with great power: for his dominion shall be great.
6 And after the end of years they shall be in league together: and the daughter of the king of the south shall come to the king of the north to make friendship, but she shall not obtain the strength of the arm, neither shall her seed stand: and she shall be given up, and her young men that brought her, and they that strengthened her in these times.
7 And a plant of the bud of her roots, shall stand up: and he shall come with an army, and shall enter into the province of the king of the north: and he shall abuse them, and shall prevail.
8 And he shall also carry away captive into Egypt their gods, and their graven things, and their precious vessels of gold and silver: he shall prevail against the king of the north.
9 And the king of the south shall enter into the kingdom, and shall return to his own land.
10 And his sons shall be provoked, and they shall assemble a multitude of great forces: and he shall come with haste like a flood: and he shall return and be stirred up, and he shall join battle with his forces.
11 And the king of the south being provoked shall go forth, and shall fight against the king of the north, and shall prepare an exceeding great multitude, and a multitude shall be given into his hand.
12 And he shall take a multitude, and his heart shall be lifted up, and he shall cast down many thousands: but he shall not prevail.
13 For the king of the north shall return and shall prepare a multitude much greater than before: and in the end of times and years, he shall come in haste with a great army, and much riches.
14 And in those times many shall rise up against the king of the south, and the children of prevaricators of thy people shall lift up themselves to fulfill the vision, and they shall fall.
15 And the king of the north shall come, and shall cast up a mount, and shall take the best fenced cities: and the arms of the south shall not withstand, and his chosen ones shall rise up to resist, and they shall not have strength.
16 And he shall come upon him and do according to his pleasure, and there shall be none to stand against his face: and he shall stand in the glorious land, and it shall be consumed by his hand.
17 And he shall set his face to come to possess all his kingdom, and he shall make upright conditions with him: and he shall give him a daughter of women, to overthrow it: and she shall not stand, neither shall she be for him.
18 And he shall turn his face to the islands, and shall take many: and he shall cause the prince of his reproach to cease, and his reproach shall be turned upon him.
19 And he shall turn his face to the empire of his own land, and he shall stumble, and fall, and shall not be found.
20 And there shall stand up in his place, one most vile, and unworthy of kingly honour: and in a few days he shall be destroyed, not in rage nor in battle.
21 And there shall stand up in his place one despised, and the kingly honour shall not be given him: and he shall come privately, and shall obtain the kingdom by fraud.
22 And the arms of the fighter shall be overcome before his face, and shall be broken; yea also the prince of the covenant.
23 And after friendships, he will deal deceitfully with him: and he shall go up, and shall overcome with a small people.
24 And he shall enter into rich and plentiful cities: and he shall do that which his fathers never did, nor his fathers' fathers: he shall scatter their spoils, and their prey, and their riches, and shall forecast devices against the best fenced places: and this until a time.
25 And his strength and his heart shall be stirred up against the king of the south with a great army: and the king of the south shall be stirred up to battle with many and very strong succours: and they shall not stand, for they shall form designs against him.
26 And they that eat bread with him, shall destroy him, and his army shall be overthrown: and many shall fall down slain.
27 And the heart of the two kings shall be to do evil, and they shall speak lies at one table, and they shall not prosper: because as yet the end is unto another time.
28 And he shall return into his land with much riches: and his heart shall be against the holy covenant, and he shall succeed and shall return into his own land.
29 At the time appointed he shall return, and he shall come to the south, but the latter time shall not be like the former.
30 And the galleys and the Romans shall come upon him, and he shall be struck, and shall return, and shall have indignation against the covenant of the sanctuary, and he shall succeed: and he shall return and shall devise against them that have forsaken the covenant of the sanctuary.
31 And arms shall stand on his part, and they shall defile the sanctuary of strength, and shall take away the continual sacrifice, and they shall place there the abomination unto desolation.
32 And such as deal wickedly against the covenant shall deceitfully dissemble: but the people that know their God shall prevail and succeed.
33 And they that are learned among the people shall teach many: and they shall fall by the sword, and by fire, and by captivity, and by spoil for many days.
34 And when they shall have fallen they shall be relieved with a small help: and many shall be joined to them deceitfully.
35 And some of the learned shall fall, that they may be tried, and may be chosen, and made white even to the appointed time, because yet there shall be another time.
36 And the king shall do according to his will, and he shall be lifted up, and shall magnify himself against every god: and he shall speak great things against the God of gods, and shall prosper, till the wrath be accomplished. For the determination is made.
37 And he shall make no account of the God of his fathers: and he shall follow the lust of women, and he shall not regard any gods: for he shall rise up against all things.
38 But he shall worship the god Maozim in his place: and a god whom his fathers knew not, he shall worship with gold, and silver, and precious stones, and things of great price.
39 And he shall do this to fortify Maozim with a strange god, whom he hath acknowledged, and he shall increase glory and shall give them power over many, and shall divide the land gratis.
40 And at the time prefixed the king of the south shall fight against him, and the king of the north shall come against him like a tempest, with chariots, and with horsemen, and with a great navy, and he shall enter into the countries, and shall destroy, and pass through.
41 And he shall enter into the glorious land, and many shall fall: and these only shall be saved out of his hand, Edom, and Moab, and the principality of the children of Ammon.
42 And he shall lay his hand upon the lands: and the land of Egypt shall not escape.
43 And he shall have power over the treasures of gold, and of silver, and all the precious things of Egypt: and he shall pass through Libya, and Ethiopia.
44 And tidings out of the east, and out of the north shall trouble him: and he shall come with a great multitude to destroy and slay many.
45 And he shall fix his tabernacle Apadno between the seas, upon a glorious and holy mountain: and he shall come even to the top thereof, and none shall help him.
