底格里斯河邊的異象
10 波斯王塞魯士執政第三年，但以理，又名伯提沙撒，得到啟示。這啟示是真實的，是關於一場大爭戰的事。但以理通過異象明白了啟示的意思。
2 那時，我但以理悲傷了三個星期， 3 期間沒有吃過美味，沒有嚐過酒肉，沒有抹過膏油。 4 一月二十四日，我站在底格里斯河邊， 5 舉目觀看，見有一個人身穿細麻衣，腰束純金的帶子， 6 身體如碧玉，面貌如閃電，眼睛如火炬，四肢如明亮的銅，聲音如眾人的呼喊。 7 只有我但以理看見了這異象，跟我在一起的人都沒有看見，但他們極其恐懼，紛紛逃匿， 8 只剩下我一人觀看這奇異的景象。我渾身無力，臉色蒼白，精疲力盡。 9 接著，我聽見他說話的聲音，一聽見他的聲音，我便俯伏在地上昏睡過去。 10 忽然有一隻手輕拍我，扶我用膝和手掌支撐起身體。 11 他對我說：「倍受眷愛的但以理啊，要留心聽我說，站起來吧，因為我是奉命到你這裡來的。」他說完這話，我便戰戰兢兢地站起來。 12 他說：「但以理啊，不要怕，從你在上帝面前謙卑地懇求明白這異象的第一天，你的禱告已蒙垂聽。我是來答覆你的。 13 波斯國的守護神攔阻我二十一日。由於我滯留在波斯諸王那裡，天使長米迦勒便來幫助我。 14 我來是要使你明白將來你同胞的遭遇，因為這異象是關於將來的事。」 15 他對我說話時，我低著頭，說不出話。 16 後來，有一位樣子像人的用手摸我的嘴唇，我便開口對站在我面前的說：「我主啊，因為這異象，我痛苦不堪，毫無氣力。 17 僕人我怎能跟我主說話？我現在渾身無力，沒有氣息。」
18 於是，那位樣子像人的再次摸我，使我有力量。 19 他對我說：「倍受眷愛的人啊，不要怕，願你平安！要剛強勇敢。」我聽到他的話，便有了力量，於是對他說：「我主啊，請說，因為你使我有了力量。」 20 他說：「你知道我為什麼要到你這裡來嗎？現在我要回去與波斯的守護神爭戰。我離開後，希臘的守護神就會來。 21 除了你們的守護天使米迦勒以外，誰也不能幫助我抵擋他們。我來是要把記錄在真理書上的事告訴你。

10 In the third year of Cyrus king of the Persians, a word was revealed to Daniel surnamed Baltassar, and a true word, and great strength: and he understood the word: for there is need of understanding in a vision.
2 In those days I Daniel mourned the days of three weeks.
3 I ate no desirable bread, and neither flesh, nor wine entered into my mouth, neither was I anointed with ointment: till the days of three weeks were accomplished.
4 And in the four and twentieth day of the first month I was by the great river which is the Tigris.
5 And I lifted up my eyes, and I saw: and behold a man clothed in linen, and his loins were girded with the finest gold:
6 And his body was like the chrysolite, and his face as the appearance of lightning, and his eyes as a burning lamp: and his arms, and all downward even to the feet, like in appearance to glittering brass: and the voice of his word like the voice of a multitude.
7 And I Daniel alone saw the vision: for the men that were with me saw it not: but an exceeding great terror fell upon them, and they fled away, and hid themselves.
8 And I being left alone saw this great vision: and there remained no strength in me, and the appearance of my countenance was changed in me, and I fainted away, and retained no strength.
9 And I heard the voice of his words: and when I heard, I lay in a consternation, upon my face, and my face was close to the ground.
10 And behold a hand touched me, and lifted me up upon my knees, and upon the joints of my hands.
11 And he said to me: Daniel, thou man of desires, understand the words that I speak to thee, and stand upright: for I am sent now to thee. And when he had said this word to me, I stood trembling.
12 And he said to me: Fear not, Daniel: for from the first day that thou didst set thy heart to understand, to afflict thyself in the sight of thy God, thy words have been heard: and I am come for thy words.
13 But the prince of the kingdom of the Persians resisted me one and twenty days: and behold Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me, and I remained there by the king of the Persians.
14 But I am come to teach thee what things shall befall thy people in the latter days, for as yet the vision is for days.
15 And when he was speaking such words to me, I cast down my countenance to the ground, and held my peace.
16 And behold, as it were the likeness of a son of man touched my lips: then I opened my mouth, and spoke, and said to him that stood before me: O my Lord, at the sight of thee my joints are loosed, and no strength hath remained in me.
17 And how can the servant of my lord speak with my lord? for no strength remaineth in me, moreover my breath is stopped.
18 Therefore he that looked like a man touched me again, and strengthened me.
19 And he said: Fear not, O man of desires, peace be to thee: take courage and be strong. And when he spoke to me, I grew strong: and I said: Speak, O my lord, for thou hast strengthened me.
20 And he said: Dost thou know wherefore I am come to thee? and now I will return, to fight against the prince of the Persians. When I went forth, there appeared the prince of the Greeks coming.
21 But I will tell thee what is set down in the scripture of truth: and none is my helper in all these things, but Michael your prince.

Visión en el río Tigris
10 Ciro llevaba tres años como rey de Persia, cuando Daniel, llamado también Baltasar, recibió un mensaje verdadero pero muy difícil de entender. Daniel se esforzó mucho para entenderlo y finalmente logró comprender todas las imágenes.
2 En ese tiempo, yo, Daniel, estuve muy triste durante tres semanas. 3 En esas tres semanas no comí ningún plato exquisito, ni comí carne ni bebí vino, y tampoco me puse aceite en la cabeza. 4 El día 24 del primer mes estaba a orillas del gran río Tigris. 5 En un momento levanté la mirada y vi a un hombre vestido con una túnica de lino y un cinturón de oro. 6 Su cuerpo parecía una piedra preciosa. Su rostro resplandecía como un relámpago, sus ojos brillaban como llamaradas, sus brazos y piernas parecían bronce pulido y cuando hablaba, su voz se oía como toda una multitud hablando.
7 Junto a mí había gente, pero sólo yo, Daniel, pude ver al hombre. Sin embargo, los que estaban a mi lado se asustaron tanto que salieron corriendo a esconderse. 8 Entonces yo me quedé solo mirando esa gran visión. El terror me dejó sin fuerzas y perdí completamente mi vigor habitual. 9 El hombre empezó a hablar y me desmayé de cara al suelo. 10 Enseguida sentí una mano que me tocó y me sacudió poniéndome sobre mis manos y mis rodillas. 11 El hombre habló y me dijo: «Estimado Daniel, presta atención a lo que te voy a decir. Levántate porque he sido enviado hasta ti». Cuando dijo eso, yo me levanté temblando. 12 Él dijo: «Daniel no tengas miedo. Dios escuchó tu oración desde el primer día en que decidiste entender las cosas difíciles y humillarte con ayuno. Por eso estoy aquí. 13 Miguel[a], uno de los príncipes más importantes, me ayudó; porque yo estaba detenido allí junto a los reyes de Persia. 14 Vine para ayudarte a comprender lo que le va a pasar a tu pueblo en los últimos días. Pues esa visión que tuviste es sobre el futuro».
15 Mientras él decía eso yo permanecía con la cabeza agachada sin decir palabra. 16 En ese momento apareció alguien parecido a un ser humano y me tocó los labios. Yo pude hablar de nuevo y le dije al que estaba frente a mí: «Señor, apenas tuve esa visión sentí calambres y perdí el control de mi cuerpo. 17 Señor, soy Daniel tu servidor y siento vergüenza por lo que me ha pasado. ¿Cómo crees que pueda seguir hablando contigo? En este momento todavía me falta la respiración».
18 En ese instante, el que parecía un ser humano se acercó a mí, me tocó y me sentí mejor. 19 Me dijo: «Daniel no tengas miedo. Dios te ama. Recupera tu fuerza y ten valor».
Mientras él me hablaba, yo empecé a sentirme mejor y dije: «Señor, háblame. Ya tengo fuerzas».
20 Él dijo: «¿Sabes por qué estoy contigo? Pronto debo regresar a luchar contra el príncipe de Persia. Cuando me vaya, el príncipe de Grecia llegará. 21 Pero te diré lo que está escrito en el libro de la verdad. Nadie fue suficientemente valiente para ayudarme contra los persas. Sólo Miguel, tuvo valor para ayudarme. Miguel es el príncipe que gobierna a tu pueblo.
