8 谁像有智慧的人呢？
谁知道事情的原委呢？
智慧能使人容光焕发，
使冷酷的面孔柔和。
2 我劝你遵守王的命令，因为你曾在上帝面前这样发誓。 3 不要在王面前鲁莽行事，也不要参与恶行，因为王可以随意行事。 4 况且，王的命令至高无上，谁敢质问他呢？ 5 遵从王命的必免遭祸患，因为智者心里懂得做事的时机和方法。 6 尽管人面临重重困难，但做任何事都有时机和方法。 7 无人知道未来的事，谁能告诉人将来的事呢？ 8 无人能掌管生命[a]，留住生命，也无人能掌管死期。无人能免于这场争战，邪恶也救不了作恶者。 9 这一切我都见过了，我用心思考日光之下的一切事。有时人欺压人、伤害人。 10 我看见恶人生前出入圣所，死后安葬，还在他们作恶的城中受到称赞，这也是虚空。 11 对犯罪者的刑罚不迅速执行，世人便尽情作恶。 12 虽然罪人作恶多端仍得长寿，我却认为敬畏上帝的人必亨通。 13 然而，恶人得不到祝福，他们必像幻影一样不能长久，因为他们不敬畏上帝。 14 世上有一件虚空的事，就是义人遭受了恶人当受的报应，恶人却享受了义人该享的福乐。我认为这也是虚空。 15 因此，我便赞赏享乐，因为在日光之下没有什么比吃喝快乐更好。这是人在上帝所赐的年日里，从劳碌中当得的享受。 16 我全心去寻求智慧，观察世上所发生的事，甚至昼夜不眠， 17 思想上帝所做的一切，便知道人无法理解日光之下所发生的事。尽管人努力不懈地去寻找，也不能明白；即使智者自以为明白，他其实仍不能参透。

8 谁 如 智 慧 人 呢 ？ 谁 知 道 事 情 的 解 释 呢 ？ 人 的 智 慧 使 他 的 脸 发 光 ， 并 使 他 脸 上 的 暴 气 改 变 。
2 我 劝 你 遵 守 王 的 命 令 ； 既 指 神 起 誓 ， 理 当 如 此 。
3 不 要 急 躁 离 开 王 的 面 前 ， 不 要 固 执 行 恶 ， 因 为 他 凡 事 都 随 自 己 的 心 意 而 行 。
4 王 的 话 本 有 权 力 ， 谁 敢 问 他 说 你 做 甚 麽 呢 ？
5 凡 遵 守 命 令 的 ， 必 不 经 历 祸 患 ； 智 慧 人 的 心 能 辨 明 时 候 和 定 理 （ 原 文 是 审 判 ； 下 节 同 ） 。
6 各 样 事 务 成 就 都 有 时 候 和 定 理 ， 因 为 人 的 苦 难 重 压 在 他 身 上 。
7 他 不 知 道 将 来 的 事 ， 因 为 将 来 如 何 ， 谁 能 告 诉 他 呢 ？
8 无 人 有 权 力 掌 管 生 命 ， 将 生 命 留 住 ； 也 无 人 有 权 力 掌 管 死 期 ； 这 场 争 战 ， 无 人 能 免 ； 邪 恶 也 不 能 救 那 好 行 邪 恶 的 人 。
9 这 一 切 我 都 见 过 ， 也 专 心 查 考 日 光 之 下 所 做 的 一 切 事 。 有 时 这 人 管 辖 那 人 ， 令 人 受 害 。
10 我 见 恶 人 埋 葬 ， 归 入 坟 墓 ； 又 见 行 正 直 事 的 离 开 圣 地 ， 在 城 中 被 人 忘 记 。 这 也 是 虚 空 。
11 因 为 断 定 罪 名 不 立 刻 施 刑 ， 所 以 世 人 满 心 作 恶 。
12 罪 人 虽 然 作 恶 百 次 ， 倒 享 长 久 的 年 日 ； 然 而 我 准 知 道 ， 敬 畏 神 的 ， 就 是 在 他 面 前 敬 畏 的 人 ， 终 久 必 得 福 乐 。
13 恶 人 却 不 得 福 乐 ， 也 不 得 长 久 的 年 日 ； 这 年 日 好 像 影 儿 ， 因 他 不 敬 畏 神 。
14 世 上 有 一 件 虚 空 的 事 ， 就 是 义 人 所 遭 遇 的 ， 反 照 恶 人 所 行 的 ； 又 有 恶 人 所 遭 遇 的 ， 反 照 义 人 所 行 的 。 我 说 ， 这 也 是 虚 空 。
15 我 就 称 赞 快 乐 ， 原 来 人 在 日 光 之 下 ， 莫 强 如 吃 喝 快 乐 ； 因 为 他 在 日 光 之 下 ， 神 赐 他 一 生 的 年 日 ， 要 从 劳 碌 中 ， 时 常 享 受 所 得 的 。

8 Who is as the wise man? and who knoweth the interpretation of a thing? a man's wisdom maketh his face to shine, and the boldness of his face shall be changed.
2 I counsel thee to keep the king's commandment, and that in regard of the oath of God.
3 Be not hasty to go out of his sight: stand not in an evil thing; for he doeth whatsoever pleaseth him.
4 Where the word of a king is, there is power: and who may say unto him, What doest thou?
5 Whoso keepeth the commandment shall feel no evil thing: and a wise man's heart discerneth both time and judgment.
6 Because to every purpose there is time and judgment, therefore the misery of man is great upon him.
7 For he knoweth not that which shall be: for who can tell him when it shall be?
8 There is no man that hath power over the spirit to retain the spirit; neither hath he power in the day of death: and there is no discharge in that war; neither shall wickedness deliver those that are given to it.
9 All this have I seen, and applied my heart unto every work that is done under the sun: there is a time wherein one man ruleth over another to his own hurt.
10 And so I saw the wicked buried, who had come and gone from the place of the holy, and they were forgotten in the city where they had so done: this is also vanity.
11 Because sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily, therefore the heart of the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil.
12 Though a sinner do evil an hundred times, and his days be prolonged, yet surely I know that it shall be well with them that fear God, which fear before him:
13 But it shall not be well with the wicked, neither shall he prolong his days, which are as a shadow; because he feareth not before God.
14 There is a vanity which is done upon the earth; that there be just men, unto whom it happeneth according to the work of the wicked; again, there be wicked men, to whom it happeneth according to the work of the righteous: I said that this also is vanity.
15 Then I commended mirth, because a man hath no better thing under the sun, than to eat, and to drink, and to be merry: for that shall abide with him of his labour the days of his life, which God giveth him under the sun.
16 When I applied mine heart to know wisdom, and to see the business that is done upon the earth: (for also there is that neither day nor night seeth sleep with his eyes:)
17 Then I beheld all the work of God, that a man cannot find out the work that is done under the sun: because though a man labour to seek it out, yet he shall not find it; yea farther; though a wise man think to know it, yet shall he not be able to find it.

Obey Authorities for God’s Sake
8 Who is like a wise man?
And who knows the interpretation of a thing?
(A)A man’s wisdom makes his face shine,
And (B)the [a]sternness of his face is changed.
Obey Authorities for God’s Sake
2 I say, “Keep the king’s commandment (C)for the sake of your oath to God. 3 (D)Do not be hasty to go from his presence. Do not take your stand for an evil thing, for he does whatever pleases him.”
4 Where the word of a king is, there is power;
And (E)who may say to him, “What are you doing?”
5 He who keeps his command will experience nothing harmful;
And a wise man’s heart [b]discerns both time and judgment,
6 Because (F)for every matter there is a time and judgment,
Though the misery of man [c]increases greatly.
7 (G)For he does not know what will happen;
So who can tell him when it will occur?
8 (H)No one has power over the spirit to retain the spirit,
And no one has power in the day of death.
There is (I)no release from that war,
And wickedness will not deliver those who are given to it.
9 All this I have seen, and applied my heart to every work that is done under the sun: There is a time in which one man rules over another to his own hurt.
Death Comes to All

15 (P)So I commended enjoyment, because a man has nothing better under the sun than to eat, drink, and be merry; for this will remain with him in his labor all the days of his life which God gives him under the sun.
16 When I applied my heart to know wisdom and to see the business that is done on earth, even though one sees no sleep day or night, 17 then I saw all the work of God, that (Q)a man cannot find out the work that is done under the sun. For though a man labors to discover it, yet he will not find it; moreover, though a wise man attempts to know it, he will not be able to find it.
